Today, It's Gosu eSports is pleased to announce the newest addition to the GoSu Family: full time GSL caster Erik "DoA" Lonnquist.
Scott "Rum" Ball, team manager for It's Gosu eSports, sees this newest addition to GoSu as the result of a long and growing friendship with DoA.
“I'm beyond excited to announce the addition of Doa to our family here at It's Gosu eSports. Not only is he a talented and dedicated individual, he's an individual I've had the pleasure of calling a good friend for the past several months," Ball said.
"Aside from his contributions to the team, he'll also be lending his casting skills to our popular in-house tournament events, as well. Working with him is going to be a true pleasure, not just for myself and our players, but for the media and writing staff of It's Gosu, as well. Doa is one of the warmest, kindest personalities I've met in all of eSports, and the opportunity to have him formally join us is one which we all find to be more than welcome.”
Lonnquist, who will be working closely with all aspects of It's Gosu eSports, stated that It's Gosu's atmosphere is what sold him on joining.
"I'm absolutely psyched to join It's Gosu!" Lonnquist said. "They've got a lot of exciting players and the atmosphere of the team really fits what I was looking for. I look forward to casting some great games to show off these guys' talents, and also look forward to working with the management in helping grow this great team. GoSu fighting!"
The executive management at It's Gosu eSports see the move as just one more step forward for the organization in leading the way as a growing name in eSports media.
"The chance to work with someone as talented, passionate, and dedicated as DoA is one which we all relish as a privilege and an honor," Aaron "Ayesee" Chambers said, speaking for the executive management of It's Gosu eSports.
"DoA is an amazing individual, and having him join Team GoSu is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of our team mananger, Rum, and the players who've worked so hard in expanding the name, integrity, and reputation of It's Gosu eSports. Not only will DoA contribute immeasurably to the inner workings of It's Gosu, the fact that he'll be lending his world-class casting talent to our events takes us one step closer to our goal of being a true leader in eSports, not just in terms of the competitive play of our teams, but in terms of growing as one of the foremost names in eSports media."
Erik "DoA" Lonnquist, Is a professional commentator currently working in South Korea for GomTV. Alongside Wolf and Moletrap, he shoutcasts GSL Code A matches, GSTL matches, and ocassionally fills in for GSL Code S broadcasts when Tastosis is not present.

Wow... Congratulations to us and DoA for finding the perfect team he was looking for . Very nice! Look forward to hearing him cast.
|
Welcome DoA, such a cool/chill guy.
|
Congrats to both It's Gosu and DoA!
|
Awesome, congrats to both parties ^_^
|
Congratulations to DoA! He is clearly one of the most passionate personalities in StarCraft 2 and loves the game, casting and being involved within the community. Very happy for him and I'm sure he will represent It's GoSu perfectly.
|
Very cool. Looking forward to hearing him cast more often.
|
Nice work Gosu, DoA is a great guy and wonderful caster

Congratz DoA, you deserve it! Keep up the awesome work.

Awesome caster. Great pick-up for GoSu. Question though, why do teams hire casters? Doa isn't a player to my knowledge. Is it for promotional reasons?
|
grats doa :D he can teach everyone on itsgosu that it takes +2 to tango

|
Fantastic for It's Gosu and super congrats and welcome to DoA!

It's good to promote the team because he could announce his team's name every time he appears on the GSL or the GSTL.
Congratulation to Doa. Hope you will be successful with the team.

Congrats DoA! I love your casting
|
Cool. I enjoy DoA's casting and he seems like a legitimate good guy. Congrats!

Which if he did such I would likely turn off code A
Personally I feel this is great. But I would hope DOA doesn't overpromote his team. I used to really dislike when tastosis would promote their teams every single day of GSL.

Congrats DoA!! I hope to see you more in the GSL and other events =D

Congrats DoA!, I enjoy your casting lotsums

I'll never understand why you would get annoyed by it (as long as its only like once a day obviously if they just keep repeating it over yeah then I can agree with you).
Grats to doa!

Doa totally deserves this, giving up his life in America and packing everything up to go to Korea to work in his passion, gratz to Doa

I used to really dislike when tastosis would promote their teams every single day of GSL. That's illogical. Why would your turn off GSL? Because he mentions his team a few times during a cast? Surely it can't bother you to hear it. So is it some morality issue? You realize if players/casters/personalities don't advertise for their sponsors/teams esports crumbles? Sponsorship is one of the few sources of revenue for esports atm.

Congrats! Does this change anything with GOM?

He might not have to repeated it again and again to promote, though. Every time he introduces himself with "... It's Gosu Doa" then he already promotes his team.

I hope this means doa will be casting stuff outside the GSL too, I really enjoy his casting.

If it happens that is o.o

so now Gosu has bad players AND a bad caster?
|
wow, funny how skillless casters can make it so far, even without any game knowledge (platinum player... lol) and bad imitations of tastosis jokes...
sry but everything who thinks doa's casting adds anything to this game is wrong imo, can't understand this hype

I remember a few times way back in Open season 2 and 3 They would take a minute or two each and every cast to promote their teams.
I don't care if its something like "and i'm itsgosudoa,". But way back in Seaons 2 and 3 where for ex. tasteless would say at every chance.
"and I'm EGTasteless of Team EG, please check us out and myegnet, we've got some great players in out lineup like EGIdra," something along those lines and Artosis would do the same.
I don't care about plugging tournament sponsors, but their own sponsors is just a little much imo. At least not every single cast they do. Espically in GSL.

Doa is auctally really a good caster. I really enjoy his casting. Just because he is plat does not mean he doesn't have game knowledge. If he is obsing and casting as many things as he is/have. He must have some pretty good game knowledge and game sense.
Also afaik Moletrap is Gold ( could be wrong) Diggity might be a bit better. TB (one of the best casters imo) is Gold as well. Khaldor I think is Gold too. Gold league is almost the league of casters.
Very few casters have the time to be masters level. tbh I don't even think Tasteless is masters ( because he has said himself he doesn't play sc2 much)

Congrats to both DoA and It's Gosu!

well i don't know if you watch Code A that much, but he is terrible, well ofc it's just my own subjective opinion, but he calls and predict everything just wrong, he has like zero game analysis.
ok this isn't appropiate of me, escpecially not in this thread.
congratz, cheers and good look DoA, i hope you can improve your game knowledge and understanding

grats DoA

Welcome Doa! Glad to have you.
|
|
So is he joining as a caster or a player? I did not know he was on that level of play.
|
Woot! Glad to join the team! More than happy to be a caster for now, maybe player some day. Who knows?

Welcome to the team DoA. Once you've entered, we'll never let you leave muhahahahaha*Evil*

doa is baller, it's gosu is baller, this deal is baller :D

YEAH congrats DoA, my favorite GSL caster other than Wolf
|
|
Very nice. I love seeing teams adopting dedicated casters like this. DoA's one of my favorites for his friendly casting and hilarious references that are totally right on par with my childhood experiences.

I'm Masters. Didn't play my placement match though as I went on holidays when the new season started and probably won't play it before I leave for Korea.
Cheers, Khaldor

Good for both, <3 both It's Gosu and Doa so good stuff! ^^
|
cool! congrats to doa and it's gosu, best if luck for the future!
|
I hope this doesn't interfere with his GSL casting.
|
I've always wondered, what do casters get out of being associated with a team? I guess there's the community aspect, but couldn't they just still be there anyways?
|
Doa remains one of my favorite casters. Although I still think he should be paired with milkies again. Her energy + his silky smooth voice = win.
|
|
|
grtz DoA. I like your casting.
|
Doa seems like such a nice guy. Congrats to both parts
|
This does give you a great insight into what teams are interested in, and how they want to make their money.
Think about it, for the most part, sponsorship is the way SC2 is supported, and the only people in SC2 who are guaranteed to get off their plugs are the casters.
|
Congrats to both parties! ^^
|
Gratz again Erik/ DOA. Wish we could Scrim sometime but I'm sure you play the pwnage Korean ladder now, and given how badly goin used to scramble me in MTG perhaps I DON'T want to.
|
wows. congratz to DoA! ^^
|
Congrats Doa! You're an awesome caster and I wish there were more like you
|
Welcome to the team DoA, Glad to have you on board and I look forward to working with you!!
|
Congratulations to both It's GoSu and DoA. ^^;
|
Gratz to DoA, GoSu has some great and soon-to-be great players on their team... Even if I think (with my limited experience) that their management is full of ass hats.
