I've taken out the download link as a result of 1.5 stopping MPQ editing
Current Version: 1.4.0.1
Note: For people who have installed Stronger Team Color with this mod before March 3rd 2012, to restore the original colors, find the file enUS.SC2Assets located inside your Starcraft II installation in Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod, and back it up. Replace the original enUS.SC2Assets with the one in the same folder named enUSbackup.SC2Assets. Try the game, if it doesn't work, the only way to uninstall the mod would be to repair or reinstall the game.
I have created an easy to use program which will automatically install the popular mod Stronger Team Color for you.
You will not need to worry about backing up your files, as the program will automatically do that for you.
1.) First, download STCInstaller.zip from the download link above 2.) Extract the files and folders inside to a folder of your choice (Avoid extracting on a network drive) 3.) Run the Stronger Team Color.exe file and press the Install button 4.) Select the region of your client, and the Starcraft II.exe file found inside your Starcraft 2 installation 5.) The program will now automatically install Stronger Team Color
1.) Run the Stronger Team Color.exe file and press the Restore button 2.) Select the region of your client, and the Starcraft II.exe file found inside your Starcraft 2 installation 3.) The program will restore the original colors
1.1.0.5 - Fixed program size, I forgot it in the last update :S
1.1.0.4 - Tried to fix the "A referral was returned from the server" error. Weird, it should have been fixed but didn't for some reason o.o
1.1.0.3 - Fixes and etc...
1.1.0.0 - Remade extracting algorithm, redid certain parts of crucial code. Things are not fully optimized yet.
1.0.4.1/2 - Back to original style
1.0.4.0 - In light of the Christmas spirit, I have changed the program to a more "Christmassy" theme!
1.0.3.5 - If you press cancel on the "Close Starcraft II messagebox, the program will now not progress
1.0.3.4 - Code clean-up
1.0.3.3 - Corrected some multithreading issues, I will release code cleanups in 1.0.3.4
1.0.3.2 - Fixed an error which occured when the program reset
1.0.3.1 - Sorry for the lateness of this release, should have been a lot earlier. With this update, I no longer use flat files, and it should address some errors people have been having
1.0.3.0 - Massive code clean-up, and fixes. There may/will still be some problems, but I have tried to correct them this time around. Cost me one Starcraft II installation ㅜ_ㅜ
1.0.2.12 - Fixed error reporting
1.0.2.11 - Fixed something... I actually don't remember what
1.0.2.10 - Added tool tips for the check box and the link controls on the main section of the program
1.0.2.9 - Fixed some aligning issues, product id, and the Stuck? link on the "Application will now restart" section. Preparing code to be ported to the universal installer.
1.0.2.7/8 - Not really a bug fix, but it should help me pinpoint where the MpqLib.dll error occurs more.
1.0.2.5/6 - Minor bug fixes
1.0.2.4 - Forgot to add a boolean... Fixed!
1.0.2.1/2/3 - Clean up of version 1.0.2.0
1.0.2.0 - Completely revised the recursive system, people who had problems during the installation before should not have them now
1.0.1.0 - A few fixes... I guess...
1.0.0.8 - Added a Progress Bar to the installation process. You can check how much it has done
1.0.0.7 - Fixed minor bug
1.0.0.6 - Disable Effects checkbox added
1.0.0.5 - Minor Fix
1.0.0.4 - Program will now ask and close Starcraft II for you upon "Install" button press.
1.0.0.2 - Added a "Stuck?" button on the installing Stronger Team Color page. It should come up after around 3 seconds of it appearing...
1.0.0.1 - Now disabled the "Install" button if Stronger Team Color has already been installed.
The source code is not released under any license, you're free to use it however you want; with or without giving me credit.
I will be updating the source code as soon as I release a new update
Stronger Team Color Installer is compiled in VB.NET 2010. You can find the source here
If you need to add references, you will be able to find them in the Libs folder.
I will update this program regularly, and it contains an auto updater, so you will be kept up to date every time you run it. If you do encounter any errors, please PM me, and I will try fix it ASAP.
Thank you for using this program, and I accept any suggestions for improvements and feedback! <3
Going to slow down development for a while on this version to work on an improved, neater, completely revised version. I'll still be fixing bugs and following this thread though
Used this installer (in a beta version) to install the Stronger colors mod into my clients. It worked on the SEA/NA client and also a relocalised client to Taiwan.

Dustin Browder voiced his support for the mod in an interview with TeamLiquid last MLG. You're not going to get banned for installing it.
And this is approved to be used? Or will I get banned if I try it? Seems great, but a third party program that gives you any kind of advantage is cheating-
This mod will not give you any advantage in the game, it only increases the color details on the units. You will not (for example) be able to see cloaked Dark Templars without any detector.
Nice. I tried to explain how to install this to a few interested friends of mine, but they were sadly clueless. I will definitely link this thread to them.
I'm stuck on the "Imstalling Stronger Team Color" and then it says WindowApplication1 has stopped working.
Do you have the "MpqLib.dll" file in the same folder as the "Stronger Team Color Installer.exe" file?
Maybe it's just me... but I think I'm stuck on "Application will now restart to continue with the installation"
Check to see if you have the file "extract.bat" in the extras folder
Mac version ?
I don't know if a Mac version is possible, as I use the MpqLib dll, and as far as I know, you can't use DLL's on a mac... Sorry! I will try ask some of my friends to see if we can get something working for the mac
I do have extract.batch. I have 7za, extract, updater in extras folder In temp folder I have extracted, filestodownload, installpath, region, stcnewversion, stillinstalling and strongerteamcolor
On December 02 2011 18:50 LeeARK wrote: I do have extract.batch. I have 7za, extract, updater in extras folder
If you haven't already done so, try restarting the application. The only thing it's doing when it says that is deletes the temp\extracted directory, and runs the extras\extract.bat file.
I will add an update so you can manually force this
Edit: I've added a "Stuck?" link on that screen now. It should show up ~3 seconds after that screen is shown. Try clicking it. I may have to tweak some permission settings if that doesn't work. If you still have the extracted folder, then that means that it's not deleting it... =/ The program will update when you restart it
Edit2: TT I added the button in the wrong place, it should be there now, just restart the application
The program is bugging on my computer when sliding to the next step during installation. I'd really like it if you made a version without the fancy sliding "next step" feature. Thanks. The program installed perfectly though.
Thx for this release raVensc2 and all the crew who's dev' it!! I like this mod, Blizzard definitly need to add it in their own options. For ppl who got issues with 32Bits version, they probably can try with de compatibility systeme of windows to run this apply in 34bits instead of 64. I'll try this at home.

Can you write a programm, that allows to auto-install other mods, like sounds, etc, just putting files inside and then alowing people install nice mods without opening game MPQ-files ?
I mean something, like that:
1) In same folder with auto-installer you creating folder "files", that contains same file structure, like inside MPQ-file 2) Programm takes that folder and packs them into an MPQ, with selected options, like localization and other stuff, like install some files or not.
I have two copies of SC2 installed in different folders. I added STC to the NA folder with your installer. But when I try to go do it for my TW client, I get STC "Already installed".
So how do I install it for my TW client as well?
edit: NEVERMIND. I extracted your installer again into another folder and patched TW client.
On December 03 2011 03:13 CajunMan wrote: How long does it usually take to install been workin on it for like 10 min in the little screen says it takes a while but how long is a while.
Mine did the same thing then crashed according to windows7, but it actually worked perfectly, just tested in game.
Tried to install as enSG and didnt work, so tried enUS and then selected folder.
Got stuck on the Installing message, then crashed.
Opened it again, and it opened straight to the installing message
Tried opening SC2 but crashed.
Deleted the 'stillinstalling' file in temp and re opened and selected restore.
Came up saying successfully restored, but SC2 still crashes.
EDIT: Just installed the mod following the original mod's post's instructions. all good now.
Sorry it didn't work, I will try check to see what's wrong. It might be one file (ZerglingUpgrade.m3), as I had to add that manually. I'm currently reconstructing the install function, so we hopefully won't have this problem in the future.

I'm so dumb, I added that Already Installed button in a desperation to get people to not patch over a currently patched file. It won't break it I don't think, but it increases the file size and resets the backup...
I have this same problem and I do have both of those files in the same folder.
EDIT: Apparently the error doesn't mean anything as the mod was still installed.
Rofl, that's weird o.o

Is it possible? Will be great
Yes is it possible, but for that to work, I need to fix the current recursive algorithm (I'm not going to create that program from scratch!). I'm manually importing the ZerglingUpgrade.m3 file as a result of it, and it may also be the cause of some problems... However it works fine on the two computers I've tested :<

Not as of currently, but I'm trying to work with some people to get a mac compatible install.
So I tried this and followed you instructions perfectly ^^... but I waited very long for the "installing stronger team color Please wait, This may take a while" message, and finally gave up after I dont know... 20 minutes perhaps... Did I not wait long enough or is it perhaps because I did not "run as administrator" or something?

You can try running it as administrator, I think I will add that anyway, since some people may have their Starcraft 2 installation in protected folders... The installation itself should not take more than 1 minute AT MAX. I'm checking the code now
The program will now require administrator to run. I've added this (hopefully temporarily) to see if it fixes some people's problems at the installation step.
On December 03 2011 10:27 Wolf_Master wrote: wait... is this for 32 bit?
It should work for both 32 bit and 64 bit, if you're having problems, try doing what Sbk said:

Get to those settings by right clicking the Stronger Team Color Installer.exe file and going into the Compatibility tab
I was trying exactly that but then I get "could not find a part of the path 'C:\Windows\system32\temp\filestodownload.txt' .... so I made a folder named temp in system32 and put the filestodownload.txt there... but that did not help at all because im a noob... ive been at this for 5 hours now hehe... I appreciate you patience alot wish I was less of a bother

O_o it should not ask for filestodownload in that location... It should downloaded folder\temp\filestodownload.txt
I will check the code, but I worked hard to revise my recursive function
Edit: Extract the archive somewhere else, not the system32 folder, maybe on your desktop, or C:\ drive, then try running the program

I'm sorry but I don't have any idea why it's not working for you o.o. I will keep looking for you problem, as I want to get this program as bug free as possible, and I am already having concerns about new patches...
I HAVE GLOWING PROBES NOW... so what I did is I just stole the Liberty.SC2Mod folder from his starcraft 2 after he was able to install it... and replaced mine with it... THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP... IM SO HAPPY :D,
I'm win7 64 bit with with 2048 x 1152 resolution. During the installation (selecting region and selecting root directory) the text in the install box is not centered in the screen. I can't read all of it. After those two screens, everything else centers up. Weird. Maybe something with my display settings, and there was no issue running the installer itself. THANKS FOR MAKING THIS.
Installed perfectly in my first shot. Download took a wee bit because of my crummy speeds. After that, install was about 15 seconds. Ezpz and works perfectly. Thank you for this! I love it!
I just want to say i already install this. First there is some problem but maybe i messt up to some file, i later reinstall everything and is best working function now. I real agree with these idea of strong color not like now Blizzard color. Blizzard should hire you! Thanks to you
For those of you having trouble installing make sure you're running .NET Framework 4, it's possible that you're running version 3 or 2 and this is causing errors.

I did not have .net framework 4, but I got it right after for another program, could that have anything to do with this?

Didn't work
Go into your Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod folder, and check what the file ending in the extension ".SC2Assets" name is. For me, it is enUS.SC2Assets. You need to put that name "enUS" into the box in my program. I'll fix the program later, as I've got exams
On December 05 2011 15:05 Sotark wrote: This is really awesome of you. I already had it downloaded, but props to you for taking the extra time to do this!
No problem! I'm working on a universal auto installer right now, so that people can add any mods they like, not limited to Stronger Team Color! Till that's released, I'll still be monitoring errors closely, and trying to figure out ways to lessen the amount of them.

I've got the right framework and such, extracted it, selected the right region, and the right folder.
That problem is most likely caused by not having the MpqLib.dll file in the same folder as the Stronger Team Color Installer.exe file. Try move the dll file where it is meant to be, and try again. I honestly hope that works, because I know a lot of people have been having this problem, and I am wondering how I should fix this problem for my universal installer

I had this problem with my SEA version, however if you patch it using the enUS option it will work, due to the SEA license coming with the NA license as well.

There should be a way to have the software compiled so that the .dll is integrated and included as part of the .exe itself.

Yes I was talking about that with Tazerenix before. That is called static DLL importing, and I actually can't tell if people are getting the error from the file not being in the correct place, as a post above me has a picture showing the DLL with the exe, but still getting an error. This makes me believe that I have to add additional linking precautions...
However I will try a static dll method soon, but I've got to figure out how to do that (I've never done it before LOL).

Well at the very least it will help make installation easier and narrow down the list of possible causes of the issue, so it can't hurt

Sorry, I'm not very good with computers: Where do I choose for the installation directory? None of my starcraft II folders look like that, so I don't really follow what it is/where. I have a folder that says Starcraft II, but only contains, "Account," "Gamelogs," "Replays," and, "Saves."

If you have a shortcut somewhere, you can right-click that shortcut, and click "Open File Location". That is the folder which you want to choose for the installation directory It is the folder where Starcraft 2 is installed, the same folder which you selected when you put the Starcraft 2 CD into the computer and installed it.

Well I am making a universal installer, which won't be locked to Stronger Team Color. When that program comes online, you will be able to install other mods through the same process. You're going to have to wait a bit for that program to come out though, since I just got into holidays, and I want to first fix the crashes people are experiencing at the installation part.
Edit: The disable effects button disables the transition effects within the auto installer. People may have problems with it, so I figured to just add it

The swishy swooshes?
It's actually very unclear what that button does, and I was trying to think it out. I don't know about anyone else, but I was frightened to push it midway through installation as it is, afterall, messing around with my starcraft install. I'm sure many other people probably felt the same. You have no tooltips that popup to tell you further details of what it might be.

Got to be the best mod for a game lately, got this after watching Obs stream months ago and love how it's just got more pro with passing months. Looks stunning and good on Blizzard team for supporting it not simply banning it.
Wow this helps a lot, I just re-install my computer recently and didn't bother to install the color mod because it was such a hassle. This helps a lot. Thanks
Really awesome job . You should really consider doing this with different mods also, like the korean/BW voiceovers. You'd be even MORE awesome then. :D

Could you explain this to me please? I am also using win7 (and not great with computers), and I am having this exact problem.
For those having troubles with Windows XP, I will re-compile the application and make it compatible with Windows XP. This should not take me a long time (maybe 2-4 hours). The installer will automatically update as soon as this new version is released, and I will edit the first post to tell you when the update has been released.
For those wanting this program on mac, I am working with a friend to get things going, but you will have to wait a while, sorry!
Edit - No update is needed, the only problem is that people don't have the C++ 2010 redistributable package. This makes it so that people will not be able to pass the "Installing" section. I've updated the links and information on the first post

You do not need to delete the MpqLib.dll file, in-fact, that file is needed! Where is the installer crashing? If it is crashing at the installing section (after the restart), then you need to download Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. I have posted the link on the first page

ok Ii deleted the files, restarted. In my downloads. i deleted everything and opened "vcredist_x86" and it repaired the Microsoft file. Then I re-downloaded the STCINSTALLER to my desktop and extracted to my C drive under the folder Stcinstaller.
Ran the steps again as per the instructions and it seemed to work download and ran without errors from steps 1-6 (got the message have fun and enjoy) havent tried SC2 yet but i think its fix..

The mail being sent is actually the only error reports that I receive. It's the only reason I've been able to correct the errors I've made up until now. I do not send any private information, however if you do want a sample of what information is actually being sent, I will PM you with it, just PM me. In the universal installer, I will not have this error report, as all the code from this program will be transferred into that one. However, if problems do occur, I will need information from inside the program in order to solve it (the error could occur on section 1 while the user is at the installing phase, maybe because I was brain-dead and heavily screwed up somewhere).

What region did you select? Did you see the image in the install instructions of how the folder should look?
Can you make a Windows XP version of this? It says something about not being able to install it on 32-bit systems and I HAVE the microsoft netframe and the microsoft C++ but a newer version.
@SkullEST, have you chosen the correct region / language for your game? I had the same problem yesterday while installing it. I thought SC2 on my laptop was enGB like on my main pc so i picked enGB while my game on my laptop was frFR. When I chose the folder, I had the same problem. When I changed it to correct language/region, the problem was solved.

If you go into your Starcraft II installation folder, into the Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod folders, and the size of the *region*.SC2Assets and *region*backup.SC2Assets files are the same size, then the mod has not installed. The problem here would be that you don't have C++ 2010 redistributable installed, and it probably skipped the installation process.
I am going to stop answering these problems for a little while, until my Universal Installer is released, as everything has been answered through the comments, and in the original post.
for some reason this didn't work for me ... I installed it and everything, it all worked properly but it didn't change anything in starcraft2, am I missing a step or something? because I was really looking forward to having this mod it looks pretty awesome
edit: just read the post like three up from where mine was posted hopefully that works
So I made this work before on both of my clients and now when I try (because it wouldn't stick to both of them at once? idk why?) it says "Please select the correct Starcraft 2 installation path" Any idea why it doesn't want to work anymore even though I'm going to the correct location and can even start the game from the spot I picked?
edit: I searched and found the other posts on this, was there ever a solution? sorry if I just missed it in here.
If anyone is trying to install it and is getting a "Please select the actual directory of SC2", and you've done it a million times. I fixxed the error by replacing the enUS.SC2Assets with the one I never modified.
I had tried to do the sc2color mod in the past, and I changed my enUS.SC2Assets, but never changed it back. When i replaced it with enUS - Copy.SC2Assets, which I made in the past, it worked fine.

What do you mean the one you never modified? Was that something you did personally or is that something that we all have somewhere If you downloaded another enUS.SC2Assets file can you link to where you got it from? When I tried to do Strong Team Colours afew months ago, I tried to use a MPQ editor to change it. The MPQ editor opens up the enUS file like a WINZIP file. Theres folders and files inside the enUS.SC2Assets file. So I had a list of files that I was supposed to modify in it, but I wasn't in a 'state' to complete a complicated task like that, so I gave up. Before I started though, I made a Backup - Copy of the enUS file.
Fast forward to yesterday, I tried to use the program, and it looks like it needs the original unmodified copy of enUS in the SC2 directory. Since the modified version that I fucked up was still in the folder, I had to delete it, and put the original copy back in, rename it from enUSOLD.SC2Assets to enUS.SC2Assets. Once I did that, I was able to run the program to change the team colors. It now works perfectly.
Also, to the person posting that this thing is a virus. The most likely reason its telling you that its a virus is because it tries to download the proper files from the web. Which makes it look like a virus.

Do you know of a site that i could dl that original file from? I'm wondering if I messed mine up before while trying to use relocalizers and manually change files to change the voice and names of things like a relocalizer.. I saved a backup file of it, but changing it back to that huge file did nothing? Maybe I'm just terrible and suck at life and can't make this work again >< If nobody has any idea how to fix this I'll just try reinstalling the game. I have both clients on two different hard drives so idk whats up with it.

That might be a false positive, I will scan the files now...
Edit: I've scanned the installer, it is fine, no viruses, can you give more specific information such as the program which stopped the download? Is it possible that your company blocked the downloading of 7za.exe?
If you have problems with the program reporting that you have not selected the correct installation directory, it may be that you have selected the wrong region, such as enSG instead of enUS for non Singaporean clients. I will check it, I will probably release an update just to refine some of the code...

I have updated the installer to make the Stuck and Reset buttons a bit more vibrant in the Christmas theme. If you are stuck at step 4/6, you can press the Stuck? button at that stage. If it still doesn't work, have you dowloaded .NET framework 4 and Visual C++ 2010 redistributable? If not, you can find them in the original post

I have reinstalled .net framework 4 but it still don't go further than 4/6 xD (btw, i don't see any "stuck" button?), also i have tried to install the other thing but its says that i have a newer version, don't know what to do :S
Hey I'm not sure if I'm the only one having the problem but after and hour of looking I can't seem to find my StarcraftII.exe file. I can find the installer and the map editor but not a file labeled StarcraftII.exe. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong or were I could look?
If your installer is halting at 4/6 then it's most likely because the installer doesn't have the permissions to access the starcraft 2 folder from where it is being run. For example, yesterday I ran the installer at an internet cafe on a network drive, and as the network drive couldn't write to the starcraft 2 folder which was on a physical drive on the computer, it just sort of stalled.
A solution is to move the STCinstaller folder to either your desktop, the same drive as the Starcraft folder or inside the folder and then run it. If after that you still get an error then try running the application as administrator. AFTER that if it is still not working then the error isn't something that has been encountered before.
This doesn't work for me. It keeps getting stuck at "Installing Stronger Team Color, Please wait.. This may take a while" I've checked solutions on this thread but none seem to help.
I have a Windows 7 x64bit My StarCraft is from EU, bought in Belgium.
I used to play with this mod withouth any problem, lately I had to reinstall it due to a sc2 reinstall, and used this installer. This got me to have frequent, annoying lagspikes ingame (as if someone else was lagging the game, but it was just for me rly), with connection (and fps obviously) being totally fine. I tried installing/reinstalling this several times to make sure, and it really looks like it was the cause of those weird lags. I'm gonna try the old method again, I hope you appreciate the weird feedback.

Sorry you had problems with it, I have not had any other mentions of lag spikes, and you should have no difference from installing the mod normally!
As for the people who ask for the mac version, I will post it if I have it, in this same thread, if I don't post it, then you're out of luck, sorry
Thanks for the installer. Only problem I had was I opened the installer and it immediately closed then I remembered about running it as admin and that worked. No other problems. Win7
So, im a mac user... and i always will be as i've been using custom versions of the apple products for gaming, and i was wondering if there is a way to download the stronger team color profile on my mac?
I downloaded the program and got stuck on part 4/6. The installer says "need to restart for part 4" so after it closed itself I reopened it. Part 4 started and got stuck at 0%.
I have .net and i tried installing C++ but it said "i already have a more recent version" tho i cant remember installing that.
Checked and the file MPQ.dll is in the folder along with STC installer
Previously had stronger team colors, but after a sc2 patch it "broke" and my colors are back to normal.
I tried to reverse the process but it says I picked the wrong version, when I picked the right one..
I've no idea why it didn't work for you. I've just restored mine flawlessly, it may be that the mod wasn't installed.

o.o Weird, the C++ redistributable package was what caused the problem for someone whom I fixed this problem for using remote desktop.

I had this problem when I extracted to a new folder on my Desktop so I copied it to C:\ and it worked flawlessly.
I managed to install mine with no problems when I chose enUS instead of enSG although I'm using the SG SEA client. Just a note for anyone who's stuck on that. Stronger Team Colors still works fine.
For some reason, it isn't executing the "extras\extract.bat" file, which extracts the files. And lets it proceed from Step 4.
You would need to edit the .bat file, or execute it from a cmd prompt, while in the STC directory.
This is what I input into my cmd prompt:
cd /D D:\Program Files\StarCraft II\Support\STCInstaller extras\extract.bat
I see some people have been having problems with this file, I'll remove it soon enough, it really was a mindless decision by me to have that file as part of the program x.x.
Is there any real chance my account will get banned if i use this?
While I cannot guarantee that you won't get banned, as per KicKDoG said - Blizzard have said they like it, and you can view the interview on Stronger Team Color's TL post (found in my OP).
mine is still at part 4 of 6 and the bar i dont even see it it wont move at all can somone help
Have you installed Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable and .NET framework 4? There's been another cause for this happening lately, and that is with the temp/extracted folder found inside my program's folder. Check if that folder exists and has files inside it.
I couldn't find this answered anywhere else. What does the disable effects check-box do on the installer?
I really should rename that button, or just remove the effects themselves. I might work on a remake for this app to make it look/feel nicer, instead of the crappy sliding effects I put in :S. To answer your question, that button will disable the sliding effect inside my program, it's really just some unnecessary eye-candy
Edit: Alright, I've released a new version to address the extracting issue listed ^^ Next step is some optimization, and the complete remake
if you have an error with something "server corresponding.. bla"
you have to disable your UCA... go to windows system settings, user accounts, and then it should be the last one.. (sorry if i am unspecific, but i have it in german o.O)
if you restart and login as admin you can install the programm.
in another forum I read that the developer can do something to prevent this from happening so maybe a note for the next patch
Just wanted to say....Thumbs up to a gosu community developer, you have beautified my game and I thank you!
EDIT: Just wanted to report problems I encountered. 1) the "Disable Effects" checkbox is so vague. I was scared to check it but scared to continue leaving it unchecked. I had to read through to page 4 of this thread to figure out what it was for. A tooltip would help. 2) the installer went through the 6/6 step with the note "Extracting.....this could take a little while " , then the step on top went back to 1/6 with the same note. This didn't change/finish for an hour, so I was about to close it. Then i noticed.... 3) if you roll the mouse wheel up or down (scroll wheel) while on the 1/6 "Extracting.....this could take a little while " it opens another 'find your SC2.exe file' window as if you are restarting the process. When you select your SC2.exe that it accepted fine before, it errors and says please choose a valid SC2.exe. It kept going back to 'find your SC2.exe file' window so I just closed the whole thing, hoping it installed properly. Thankfully, when I entered the game I found it properly worked, but the whole thing made me nervous and unsure that it had worked since it never actually showed me a "Install Completed" screen.
Also, just to clarify what @qwertzi said, if you are having the "Server Corresponding" error, you need to turn off UAC, which is User Account Control, that screen that greys your screen out and makes a ding and asks if you want to allow a program to be installed. As he said, go to Control Panel, Users, then User Account Control on the User settings. Disable and restart computer.
x.x Sorry! I'll have a look into it today, When are you getting the server corresponding error? I've not had it myself yet o.o I've been busy optimizing some other parts, and getting ready to release the source.
I'll release another update to (hopefully) rid of the above issues ^^
I will disable the transition eye candy that I've put into my program - It's useless LOL
Edit: I've probably fixed the UAC problem now, but, as I was not getting it before, I need someone to test it for me
Downloaded the latest client as well and it doesn't work for me either. I've tried the solutions others have suggested already but the installer just freezes at 5/6. I've left it on for several hours and I don't even see any movement on the progress bar either.
I was having the same problem with this as everyone else. I am using Windows 7-64bit. When one day I was installing R1CH's Scene Switcher for Xsplit and came across this error "MSCVR100.DLL is missing..." After googling it I followed a link to Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Packages
Anyway...So after installing this and trying scene switcher again (which worked) I thought I would try STCINstaller again. First try and it installed flawlessly in just a few seconds. Please post your operating system if you have problems so people can respond accordingly. Hope this helps.

According to the installer I already have a newer version installed, so this won't help fix the issues im having with the referral thing as well.

While it is extracting, nothings happening to your sc installation, so you can close it at that point.
Cleaning up really only deletes the /temp folder, it's not a necessary part of the installation, and I'll probably remove it soon, as the same process is done elsewhere. In any case you should not have trouble closing the installation at that stage
Edit: I forgot to state, you may need to run as administrator if errors.
I downloaded and extracted to my desktop and but when I try to run the exe it says error: referral was returned from the server. and when I try to run the updater it says it could not find a part of the path.
When I tried opening the installer and it told me " A referral was returned from the server " I simply when to Control Panel > User accounts and family safety > User accounts > Change User Account Control settings > then restarted computer, and it worked perfectly fine for me :D Thanks again! This is not correct. I kept getting the same server referral error when I tried to run it as administrator. After I turned UAC off the program installed.
I was getting the "A referal is returned from the server", i fixed it not by doing the run as admin, but by going to properties>compatibility>run as admin (check box). Its working now, ty.

All proplems regarding referrals should be fixed now, sorry for the long wait! I realized the problem was occurring before the updated even started, and as such, none of my updates would fix it.
Thank you very much for this It is great to know that Dustin Browder think it is cool ^^ I wonder if they would allow it in tournaments? I hope you can shove the sc2relocalizer on that package on next release, would be really nice :D Keep up the great work!
hi raVensc2, i have some issues with reloading the installer. i had it running fine up until season 6. it seems to freeze on the part 5/6 with installing the downloaded information.
I´ve run the installer with as an admin (Properties -> run as admin) and also picked the right region enGB and also chosed the .exe-file from starcraft2 folder but it stucks at part 5/6 "Installing stronger team color - this might take some time" There is a loading bar but it will never start installing it. So, what do I do?
***Plz reply because I don´t want this mod because of the cool color, I´m awfully colorblind and can´t even see the difference from green, yellow, orange, and find it sometimes difficult to see difference from blue, red, pink and so on. In zvz ling/bling battles I´m just totally lost.
The main reason I'm recreating STCI is so that I can clean up some of the code.
The second reason is because of what happens in the last three posts. Please wait a while, I'm fixing it ASAP, and it will be hard to migrate to the completely new version.
If the error you're getting is a thread-oriented error such as "Thread is running or terminated; it cannot restart", close the program, go into the task manager, and end the "Stronger Team Color Installer.exe" task (if it is still open), then try restarting with XP compatibility.
Hey I have a question, when I am trying to install it , I am on the NA server and selecting enUS region, and it keeps saying that I am not selecting the correct region , do you know what could be the problem?
On February 16 2012 10:36 Snake_Doc wrote: hi raVensc2, i have some issues with reloading the installer. i had it running fine up until season 6. it seems to freeze on the part 5/6 with installing the downloaded information.
Yeah, the whole getting stuck thing was a common issue with overwriting the mpqs. It often required repair or even reinstallation of the game to fix it, though using your original mpq that you backed up would sometimes fix it too.
Anyways, it seems that this latest patch also fixed the old way of installing the mod which simply involves dragging 1 mpq file into a folder and no overwriting of any files, meaning issues of updating the game shouldn't occur and no need to back things up.
Install instructions: download STCVersion 1.6, unzip, and drag the enUS.SC2Assets file into Program Files/StarcraftII/Mods/LibertyMulti.SC2Mod It shouldn't replace ANY file. DO NOT drag it into Liberty.SC2Mod, drag it into LibertyMulti.SC2Mod If you have any sound problems after installing this, it's because you dragged it into the wrong folder.
Mac Instructions(Thank you VGhost)
These are basically the same as the Windows ones. But here goes:
1) Download file. 2) Move to Macintosh HD/Applications/Starcraft II/Mods/LibertyMultiSC2Mod 3) Play!
Now, even though this method now works for me and some others, it might not work for everyone, I just don't know yet. If this does work for you though, it won't be overwriting any blizzard files and won't be an issue when updating the game. There's also no telling if blizzard might disable this method again through a future patch. Of course, this won't solve your current problems of not being able to update. To solve that, either repair or reinstall the game.
Re-released the program, it will not modify any files now Too much to document in one post, but I've basically cut out half the program, and I don't use MPQLib or the Zip dll anymore
Can someone explain. I can't remove these colors. I click on "Restore Original", and do all that thing needed to remove colors, but it keeps telling me that "Stronger Team Colors has either not been installed, or you have selected the wrong StarCraft 2 installation/region". Is there any other way to remove colors, without reisntalling all game ?

Then please explain to me how the mod installs? Thanks. Also how I can remove it manually if I don't trust the program.

Before, the mod used to be installed by downloading a zip file, which contained files and the file structure for the file Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\enUs.SC2Assets. These files were then added to that MPQ, the original MPQ was backed up in the same folder as the original (enUS.SC2Assets). The old restore used to just delete the new enUS.SC2Assets file and replace it with the old one. Of course this would only work if there was an older enUS.SC2Assets file.
Now, we can forget about modifying the MPQ, as we only need a enUS.SC2Assets file added in the directory LibertyMulti.SC2Mod. A couple of patches ago, the installation process was exactly the same, however that got changed in one patch and you required MPQ editting. The new restoring simply deletes that enUS.SC2Assets file.
I really hope Blizzard keeps this way of adding Stronger Team Color, it's much simpler, and not needing to use other libraries such as zip and MPQLib makes room for less bugs.
For the people trying to reinstall who installed the color mod before patch 1.4.3 or before yesterday, find the file \Mods\Liberty.SC2Mod\enUS.SC2Assets, back it up somewhere, and replace the original with the one named enUSbackup.SC2Assets Test your game, if it doesn't work, I think the only option is to either reinstall or repair your game.
Is it possible to install stronger colors for Terran units only? I the new look of T (especially Marauders), but Zerg and Protoss units look just a little bit too shiny and glossy and 'sweet' to me, so I didn't yet decide to install it.
I would really appreciate help if it is even possible.

I'm pretty sure you can modify the enUS.SC2Assets file in Pzea's Stronger Team Color post (found in the OP) and delete Zerg and Protoss modifications.

Cant get it to work... at all.. ive tried everything.. Manual install Auto Install
Nothing happens.. :S
Im from EU.. i havent installed SC2 its from my old pc where i just copy pasted to the new one.. whats wrong?
If it didn't work with the manual install and you renamed the file to fit the other files in the LibertyMulti.SC2Mod folder (eg. enUS.SC2Assets -> krKR.SC2Assets), then I've got no clue why it doesn't work, sorry
So this wasn't made very well, when I try to open it it keeps opening and closing STCInstaller frantically and I can't get rid of it, then I later realise that the "Updater.exe" is doing all this opening and closing and have to struggle close that with Process Explorer to stop STCInstaller from bugging out, except it seems that the Updater ALSO opens and closes as the STCInstaller does so I have to fight to close it before it alternates. Why did you even put an Updater in it? I doubt people care that much about getting the latest version. And if you were going to put one in at least make it properly?

Thank you for your hard work on this, it works wonders! I'm glad that you made it even better by not having to modify any files now.
Only issue I had when updating was that I had to do the manual restoration, since I was having the same problem as the guy above this post.

My updater is working fine, for many people including myself, I've even checked the code recently. If you have re-downloaded the program and it still happens, it's a problem unique to you, and I probably can't help you with it. Sorry. The updater was put there so people may not need to keep re-downloading the file every release (and it used to get released pretty often if you look at the change/release log).
Please make sure you extract all of the files rather than opening them. The updater problem may occur if the extras folder is not in the same folder as the Stronger Team Color Installer.exe file.

I had this problem with a previous install. Downloading the latest version seems to have fixed it. Thanks!

Why you can't put simple one file inside one of game folders? Is it that hard?
I mean, whats hard with placing new enGB.sc2assets with new textures into LibertyMulti.sc2mod folder?
This auto installer was made long before this current patch which brought back that method of installing. There is no point in using this installer now, however many people still use it (STCI Auto Installer is using 250+gb bandwidth per month), and in fact the amount of people who use it increase monthly.
This installer would be needed again if Blizzard decide to patch the current method of installing like they did a couple of patches ago, and you would need to MPQ edit a file.
installed , all was ok some days, after 11 may(little update of blizzard - not patch) i dont see any new colours..why ? i tryed to delete this file C:\Games\StarCraft II\Mods\LibertyMulti.SC2Mod - ruRU.SC2Assets and installed again, nothing new, help =)

I have had this problem as well. Everytime Blizzard releases a patch, it will check for altered files and remove/change them to the original form. I have been able to make STC work again by doing the follow: 1. Open up STC Installer (latest version) 2. Click 'Restore Original' and complete that process. 3. Click 'Install', choose your locale again and point to your sc2 exe file. It will patch the game again.
It worked for me. I hope we hear more from the creator of this installer, since this thread has been quiet for quite some time. Blizzard really should implement this asap!
I released a new update last night, which is essentially version 1.1.0.7 (I had deleted the newer code due to stupidity). I'm still getting the bugs ironed out, but please PM me if it doesn't work for you.

I get stuck at the 4/6 step. I tried to restore the original and restart the installation but even leaving it working for 1 hour it looks like it's stuck. Any ideas?
My install keeps stalling at Step 5/6. And sometimes when I try and point it to StarcraftII.exe it says for me to point it to the correct file, but I am pointing it to the one in the correct folder. Some help please, I miss this mod.
For the people above this post, these problems are exactly like before, and the only thing I can really suggest is to check that you have the MpqLib.dll and Ionic.Zip.dll files inside the same folder as the Stronger Team Color.exe file. Also check if you have the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable package installed. Code-wise I'll decide what to do tomorrow after my exam
Edit: I'll probably be integrating the libraries used by the program inside the program itself by converting the application to C++. If this works out fine, I'll be releasing a new update in the next couple of days

Yep, once I get my C++ version working, I might be able to make it for macs but don't count on it, I'll still be using .NET/Winforms
Hah nothing much would happen really, I'm already working at full capacity, but I've got other things as well (school work). I also have no way to test a mac version currently... :|
hi every time i try to install this... it downloads but then it goes to install and it doesnt.... it says please wait this may take awhile but i left my computer on overnight and it still didnt move an inch "( and help?
Not doing any more fixes on the current version, I'm trying to recreate it using a better programming language and technique. As I previously stated, you can try installing .NET 4.0 (if you haven't already) and the VC++ 2010 redistributable package. Both can be found through a simple Google search which should lead you to a microsoft download page
Now that I replaced the enUSbackup.sc2assets the original color is back but I lost unit sounds. How do I restore this without going back to other asset file?

Hi , i've been trying to install this mod but im stuck at the '' select the starcraft 2.exe file inside your installation folder'' , i can't find this starcraft 2.exe file to complete the installation , can someone help me please?
damnnn that's really too bad, team colors is essential for me but i really dislike being green
I dislike it too, but standart color scheme (red blue purple cyan etc) is a bit more bad, because half of those colors are harder to see on minimap, than BRIGHT RED PIXELS on black minimap
Just a warning, this did break my game. I'm fairly certain it's because I clicked it twice and didn't see the installer behind open windows, but StarCraft II loaded slowly, had a weird resolution and changed my graphics settings. After it lagged out opening the options menu I had to say "no thanks" and am now re-installing.

I understand that now, and was going too, but saw the installer and thought it would be more stress-free. I'm definitely not a stranger to modding stuff. Not going to bother with it now though, I can distinguish between units fine, it was for the novelty more than anything.

If you know, how to work with WinRAR, there will be no problems with MPQ Editor. It's just other type of winrar

Is there some kind of requirement that you have to open StarCraft through the exe file for it to work? My laptop doesn't have admin rights and I access StarCraft using the Map editor (a little trick I found out back in the beta days), but whenever I start up a game, nothing looks like it has been changed.

No, it just installs over game resources, overriding them

Hmm............do you have any ideas why it isn't working then? The installation process seems to be fine. I tried this a week ago on Starcraft 2 Patch 1.4.4, and I used the download link on the front page.
If not I'll have to resort to team colors I dislike green.

I have able to created a mod file that you can add as a dependency to any map that will put the old stronger team colors mod into that one map. I have published it to battle.net and its unlocked. You will find it in battle.net under the title "Drachen's color mod" and it works great. All you have to do is download it, open any map and change the dependencies to include this mod file. The mod does nothing else except change the colors. All credit goes to dumb luck and the original people who created Stronger team color mod. You can also download the mod file here Drachen's color mod
Wow, I love how you don't install or replace any files :D which makes it so easy to apply. I'm looking forward to seeing if my buddies like the change :D At first I put it in the wrong base folder and launched, and ran a replay and I was like "I can't tell if its working or not :l" Then I put in the right one and relaunched and at the loading screen I was like ">=O"
@ DeanMalinco yes it does thats the beauty of it. It doesn't change any files it simply tells a map,"hey you map you will include these new textures for better color, and the map says garafgsgewf (my map editor is zerg) It also doesn't violate any part of Blizzards EULA for the same reasons. So getting banned was a potential, albeit very small one, for the original stronger team color mod. My mod file is in complete compliance with the EULA. :-)
