Q: What should I be posting about? A: Basically, anything you want to talk about but aren't sure if it warrants a topic of its own. Heard a rumour you want to share? A new video? A question you are sure is super common but can't find the answer to via searching? A brilliant new idea that you want to vet, to make sure it's really as brilliant as you think it is?
This is the place.
Note: Posting standards will not be as high as if you were to make a new thread, but pointless spam will still not be tolerated. I have seen threads like these work out alright on other sites (for other games) so I figured, why not give it a shot? It's possible there's not really enough content for something like this to exist at this point in time, but no harm then, it will just die on its own.
I think pro players struggle with PvZ. Is there a hope for Protoss before HotS?
Edit: One more. Storm seems to be underused at that match-up unless there is heavy muta play. Can we see some regular storm usage without protoss dying helplessly?
It seems like Protoss has fairly restricted openings and tech choices (in order to be successful), but MC did show us how a FFE can work in favor or toss if done right at the Blizzard Cup. (Most notably the games vs Leenock and the 2nd match vs DRG.) MC did throw away the 3rd game for no reason with carriers and bunch of motherships....
Which race dominates the ladder(s), even in highest places? Not meaning the race which has the most players, but meaning the race which has highest win/lose ratio.
I'd really like to see more mech in TvP and see how it could be possible. I think a mech/air based style would actually be possible, with banshees, tanks a couple ravens and mass hellion with hellion drops everywhere (or mass marine with marine drops everywhere).
PvZ seems ridiculously unbalanced atm, we can clearly see the protoss players in gsl struggling with this. Hots also does not seem to be a fix to this, since the units zerg are getting such as viper nullify protoss "power units" like colossus.
I dont understand how your league is chosen every season. Every season since the first one I play one game, then get directly placed into a division in Gold. For season 4, I purposely attempted to get into bronze, and see if I could advance, as I dont see my skill level as high as Gold. When I probe rushed and lost, I got into gold, but when my friend probe rushed and won, he got into bronze. Main Question: How is your league chosen every season? Based on previous, or completely reselected?
Theres also been talk about how Zenio just joined Liquid, and how EG needs a new korean player to match up. Most people are proposing Leenock but I dont see that happening. EG just partnered with SlayerS recently, so I believe that would be their best chance (even though their family is so close). I would have to go with CoCa or Puzzle. CoCa because his recent interest in the international scene, and Puzzle cause... well, hes Puzzle.
Also, GSL Nov Up/Down groups just came out! What do y'all think of them? Im to lazy to make predictions right now, but I would like to see these people come out of it (I chose 2 from each group): HuK, Alicia - MorroW, Ryung - Polt, Zenio - BoxeR, Taeja - HerO, Clide OMG BOXER CODE S YAYAYAYAYA (and huk, will always be my favorite) Thanks. I like expressing my pointless thoughts.

I would say Protoss definitely. It's the easier race up to high masters

Every race averages around a 50% win/loss ratio, because the ladder skews players towards a 50% win/loss ratio. Kind of a meaningless question.

Its based on your MMR. Not really anything to do with what league you were previously or your placement match. If you're in gold you've got an MMR of a gold level. If you want to end up in bronze you'll have to tank your MMR by losing a bunch of games until your MMR drops to bronze level.
Example: I'm in Silver at the moment but I win something like 60-70% of my games and most of my opponents are Gold. Because the season is locked I can't be promoted but because most of my opponents are Gold my MMR is around Gold-level (because I'm being matched with Golds). So next season I expect to be promoted to Gold if not after placement then shortly after I start laddering (assuming I keep my winrate up). However if I just flat out quit my placement match then odds are I'll still either be placed into Gold or be very close; because that one single match will have a negligible effect on my MMR.
On a personal note...anyone else around Silver/Gold level on EU noticing a LOT of Protoss trying to 4-gate again all of a sudden? Dunno where this trend is coming from lately. It took me by surprise at first and I lost a couple but after the initial shock its handing me a lot of wins so I'm not complaining.
I think an interesting way for T mech to be useful in both TvZ, TvP and TvT is to make the helion only armored and not light. This gives them a little more strength vs banelings and can be more useful in defending the tank/thor against a ling/baneling swarm that hits before the mutas try a magic box.
This can make Helion vs Helion battles not as critical in TvT too where maybe one misclick one player loses a lot of helions and is set back in the early game and is forced to turtle more.
Against P, T can't open mech because the P will pump too many immos. But in the very late game I think a T slow switch to mech could be very useful. A few Thors in the front to absorb the first 20 zealot charges/archons moving in would be huge in tanking some damage. Also, at the point where P can warp in 10 chargelots T switching to mix in blue-flame would be ideal. However, at that point in the game usually everyone is 3/3 and 3/3/3 but the T mech is 0/0 so they wouldn't even bother trying, especially after upgrading bio 3/3 and most likely T ship weapons for vikings vs col. Upgrading mech as well would be too much of an investment. I think to solve this you make T ship and mech weapon upgrades the same (not armor). That way the helions already have the dmg upgrade since you upgraded the vikings. This way you can pop out mass blue flame to help counter mass chargelot.
P in late game will get almost every unit in their dealthball vs T (templar, archon, chargelot, stalker, col, immo, sentry) but T tries to make the same bio work all game. I think these few changes could re-invent Mech in both match ups.
tldr; make helion only armored and not light, make T ship and ground weapons from armory the same upgrade.
That isn't a balance proposal. That's completely rewriting the entire game. I'll be critically honest- it's a terrible idea. I don't like being that stark but that is the worst balance theory bullshit craft I've ever read.
>Give Terran a massive buff by making weapon upgrades apply to their two higher tech production structures >Make hellions better despite them being already good enough and set for a huge change in HotS anyway
Mech is a viable alternative to the standard TvZ/P builds, albeit less so in TvP. All compositions do not have to be optimal to be successful.

Mech is not a viable build in TvP. It isn't rewriting the entire game. HOTS point isn't valid we haven't even see a beta to know what change are even making it through Alpha. It's not like T is going to go air and mech and make it a huge thing know because they save 600 gas on upgrades. by combining 2. T has 6 upgrades already reducing it to 5 is not rewriting the entire game....
Look, would it make you happy to just call me an idiot? I'm never going to see whatever brilliance you do. Whether you admit to it or not, changing how upgrades fundamentally work and removing an important strategic choice for Terran is a terrible idea.
What precisely does the term 'management' imply, as it was used in the GSL Blizzard Cup Finalists interview? Does it mean something along the same lines as 'macro game'? Or is it used to indicate a control-centric style?

How come we don't see those fun fun strategies in tournaments like whiterA's 6 stargate void ray into mass carrier followed by 14warp gates? or TLO's materbaiting nukes (HDstarcraft I feel that starcraft like all other should have its time when you just wanna have fun like the feeling that you get when you were a kid playing at a friend's basement not caring if you lose but you're just in it for the fun.
Mech worked out quiet well versus toss imo, until that horrible day when tank shells were repleaced with a cheaper version and only does evil damage to armored. Hellions function like the vulture ... which means you block for a moment but then retreat into the tanks again. Now zealots, thanks to charge and being light take almost no damage, then the target ai + the auto surround, can take so much shots, that you most like kill a tank along with one zealot, while the tank splash doesn't even hit alot of zealts. Blocking the charge with hellions is helpful but now you also don't reach the immortals anymore with your hellions (they burned all the zealots in their way so huge damage). Added blue flame nerf too. I guess it would be okay if tanks would not deal so much splash damage to their own units, while charge really helps to dodge tank shots. But right now it feels like the terra army is killing themself with siege tanks against toss, since stalkers that get targeted can simply blink back. So it seems every toss unit is build to fight of siege tanks, not only the immortal. And while the thors 250mm works super well against archons and immortals (to an extend where the toss doesn't even have to bother building those 2 units, unless they go pure for them, which makes the hellion wall shine). But then there is feedback, that can deal nice damage to a thors. So imo you atleast need ghosts in your mech army, only 2 or 3 to, but they are essential to make up for the weak damage mech does to toss. And thors in siege tank range are pretty save against feedback anyway, but can clean off any immortal or archon trying to close in on tanks. Unmanned bunkers also work really well against chargelot if the map isn't to open. But with map releases like taldarim mech really became hard to play. And with mech you have to and are forced to take workers along, most people forget this when going mech. Anyway mech works fine once you reach the 200 supply with a nice bank of ressources, but the way there still has to be found out.

Well here's the thing. When there is $50,000 in prize money on the line, would you rather go for something tried and true and have a very good shot to win, or go six stargate mass carriers and have a very good chance of getting scouted and rolled? I can think of a few examples that are going to further dissuade players from trying these "fun builds" in tournaments. In MLG DC of 2010, Select was playing Huk in the loser's finals. Huk went for a fast mothership in the deciding game 2. Although the fans were overjoyed by his play and there was some humorous in game chat, Select went straight up Marine Marauder and won that game. Although Select was actually I believe criticized for playing standard when it was obvious huk was having fun, it made sense for him to do what he did for the sake of more prize money. This game can be seen here: (click the smiley lolz) Another more recent example is MC going for Carriers and motherships in game four of his series against DRG in the Blizzard Cup. Had he won this game, he would have advanced to the finals and a shot at the title. However, DRG shut this down with corruptors and MC lost. I don't think he will be trying that strategy in a tournament again. If you want to see more about this matchup there are a few write ups on TL that you can read. I agree with you that it is fun to watch players go with strange strats. It makes the game very entertaining. However, players want a shot at winning, and most players won't put themselves in jeopardy of elimination by being "entertaining" and I cannot blame them.

There was a Destiny game a few days ago I was watching on his stream in a ZvP. He had his Broods nearly perfectly split up in a concave. He had like 22 or something, and I mean -- none were overlapping or anything at all. Two vortex's took out 3/4ths of his Brood Lords instantly in them.
Although I agree with the sentiment of "dont let them get there in the first place", which is what differentiates this post from the usual balance trash -- as that's how you beat it, just don't fucking let them get there in the first place. However, if they do get there, it's nigh impossible to stop.

The same could have been said for Broodlord Infestor before Protoss found out they can still use the Archon toilet, fact is, there is no way to beat a group of ten plus Broodlord with crackling ling and Infestor support without Vortex.. Just because there is no way KNOWN to beat the toliet does not mean that is no way to beat it. I'm sure Destiny could have done something in the time it took for the Mothership to come out AND get enough energy for two vortexes....

Yes, larger maps mean you can't really put on pressure without it being all in since it'll be hard to defend any counter attacks. Drops should be more effective on the bigger maps, but we'll have to see.

They've been saying that for awhile. Ever since Tal'darim Altar came out. If you aren't the best Terran in the world you basically can't ever move out of your base on the larger maps against a more mobile force.

If you're facing 70% master level players, then yes. Before I was promoted, I was facing nearly all masters and I was stomping them.
Yeah right now I'm playing masters almost every game. But the problem is now that I'm afraid of going on a losing streak before the next season and then I'll be placed into diamond lmao.

Any 1rax, reaper expand, etc opens with a baracks. Afterwards, get 2 more rax while the CC is building. The rest (gas timing, additional rax) depends on style.

1 Rax FE is the thing right now in Masters. Just FE in your natural, 2 additional Rax, Shield first. Mind the Reapers and possible Banshees and 1-1-1 all-ins.

Pretty much, especially against Zerg. Drops get shut down easily by Mutas/Overlord spread and a ton of spines at every expansion. TvZ on Tal'Darim is absolutely frightening unless you're a Korean pro.

I find TvP can be quite frightening too considering late late game you can't make it across the map before templar get storms if they get warped in as reinforcements. Not only that but if you get a mildly bad trade warpgates let them just roll over you.

Stop doing 2 base pushes that don't work and defend in time. That's what needs to be done. If you see pros getting picked apart by muta play, then you watch wrong players. Sage and Squirtle seem to deal with mutas with no problem, cuz they don't get behind in early game and they just get templars and defend on 3 bases with blink. Beating people like Stephano, Losira and Nesta consistently in 20-30+ min long games even on tal'darim.
Do you feel like the HT storm radius is too large? I feel like it is but I have an abysmal TvP record and it may just be that I suck. But here's what I'm thinking:
Terran doesnt stand a chance in an engagement without stim. So once an harmy has stimmed, they are borderline yellow in health. Then a storm comes in and can hit up to 3/4 of your army. This pushes them all to red health!
Now, keep in mind that the main reason ghosts were nerfed was that they removed the shields (essentially half health) of protoss units but even before the nerf, the EMP radius was still smaller than a storm. Is it fair that a storm removes half of the health, if not more of a terran bio ball and has a radius that is now much larger than an EMP? If you think it is fair, what do you do to get around the issue?

Well the general consensus is that as EMP damage is instant and you can't dodge it, where as storms are very easy to micro out of, its logical to have a larger radius for a storm as its a DOT.
Clarification - when I say 'easy to doge' I mean for a pro Terran play with extremely good micro. I'm not talking about Joe Diamond here.

I'm sad that Blizzard is "giving up" on the Mothership and replacing it. I don't have any answers and I understand Blizzard wants a tightly balanced game with units that all see regular use in the metagame. So, sure, it doesn't make sense to keep the Mothership around when it's mostly a novelty item. But it's so cool. I would be overjoyed if Blizzard could've found a way to re-balance the Mothership to make it a more integral game piece in the mid/late game.
mothership is near useless in pvt but in pvz it is pretty darn useful, especially if the zerg is going for a BL composition
on NA, people love telling me that i'm horrible as they lose. what is with this? i had three different people tell me this yesterday as i go through their base (masters). this doesn't happen in KR, people either ragequit or gg out.

Its not the mothership im sorry about. Is the FREAKING CARRIER. its so iconic
Hello everyone I just registered to Team Liquid's site. I played broodwar and got to c- on ICCUP. I been playing SC2 for a week now and finished season 4 on top 8 Gold division. I was wondering if there is any tournaments for bronze, silver or gold?

Aww man, I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, I -love- the carrier. If the purpose of the Tempest is to shore up Protoss anti-air capabilities against Zerg, then I would've been much happier to see interceptors receive a buff that made them stronger against biological air units. Like give their air-to-air attack splash damage.
You mean the green outline beneath the holographic projection of the pylon, right? I don't have my gaming computer with me but I believe the option is "Display Build Grid" under "Gameplay" options.
Whats the best response to 2stargate in pvz? Lately alot of protoss use this and I never know how to react. Even if i scout it before he makes any units i just loose to it. If try to spore up and get hydras i end up with never moving out beacuse fenix own anything. And infestor hydra is too much gas on 3base + u give up ground advantage if he decides to switch. Spire is kinda ok if he goes phoenix but it 2-4 voids kill ALOT of corruptors if they have couple of phoenix as meatshields. Straight up infestor/roachling often dies to +1 zealots wich usually suplement the stargate units, because if u unburrow ur festors for fungal u risk them beeing picked up.
I recently decided to do the money dump in 2v2 with a friend and I somehow got banned for it and the reason was "hacks" is this against the rules of Starcraft 2? Should this of happened to me?

I heard that recently Blizzard has sent out a lot of bans that they quickly withdrew. Must be some sort of bug, you should contact Blizzard about it.

I know there are Android Twitch.tv stream viewers out there, but does anyone know of any Android apps that are customized to watch vods on Twitch.tv?
Trying to move around the time-line with the standard browser-based twitch.tv player seems pretty much impossible for me on my phone. Maybe it's just my fat fingers. :/

If it was because of your moneydump I highly doubt it, probably something else or just a mistake. Would be ridiculous if that was the reason, you should probably contact them and make a ticket. I don't recommend calling them because you don't get much from that anyway...

I have a question, is an alternate account good to have? What I mean is that I want to have a separate account for zerg because they've always seemed fun to play to me but I don't want to ruin my rating with my main account (protoss, in case you're wondering). So if I got this second account, would my skill with protoss go down due to less practice with that race? Or would I actually get better since I'll understand the timings of zerg better? So is it worth buying this second account or not?

It depends on what you find affordable. I have 4 accounts total, and 1 of them I barely ever even use anymore. But I am over 30 and have a good reliable income. I also pay for coaching now and then, so overall I consider this a relatively cheap hobby to have.
If you're a cash strapped college student, you might want to wait until SC2 is on sale for 30 bucks again. It has been a couple times, so it probably will again.
Another option is to just play P in the public custom matches. Downside is you will almost exclusively need to play Shattered or Xel'Naga (on NA at least... I noticed that on EU, Metalopolis and Shakuras get a lot more love in the customs), and you will be matched randomly instead of by skill.
As for getting worse at P. I doubt your mechanics will mess up all that much. You could even adjust your hotkeys to make them as close to what you use as P. But there will be some transitional effects. If you really start spending a solid chunk of time on Zerg, and then go back to P, you probably will be worse temporarily. However, after a week or two of re-adjusting you will most likely be better than you were previously, with a more solid understanding of PvZ. I think you will probably learn most from seeing what other Ps do against your ZvP.

I'm a Protoss and in the current metagame, hellion drops in TvP are sick.
Also, in ZvP, why don't zergs do like 12 zerglings drops? At the very least, you will kill a few artosis pylons. Usually you can target forges, nexus, twilight or probes.
Lastly, use warp prisms. Late game broodlord armies cannot be fought straight up. Just warp in 8 zealots and kill hatcheries. If he goes to kill you, it's an all in so if you hold that 1 attack you should win.
I don't know. It really should be more popular. For 300/300 you can drop. That's 3 less mutas or a handful of less roaches.
Except when Protoss opens stargate. And thirds are usually very defended by cannons (and these aren't bw lings so pre adrenal gland 3 cannons>12 lings) And (this is personal experience and not indicative of pro play) Protoss seems to still favor the ball play and for some reason people aren't sharking around the map as much anymore.
So there's an army just sitting at home. Yeah it can have some success but idk

Hi there! I decided to register here because i got something very important to tell to Liquid Jinro! I have been watching his stream for a long time, and the experience is: everytime im watching his stream he loses! Im not telling that he is a bad player because it is obvious that he is a great player. Im sorry to say that, but you can make sure, when you lose than its my fault.

I don't think marines kill probes faster, do they? All you have to do is press F2, box them, press F3 and click a mineral patch and most of the probes will get away. Sure, I guess you could kill a few pylons but isn't 25 workers better? o_o;;

Jinro, is there ever a situation where you prefer to drop marauders over marines? If you're going for buildings, 4 marauders do comparable DPS to 8 marines and unload faster, but is it worth it?

I think if he can SEE you unloading units you are not nearly as likely to actuly kill the tech structure anyway. Also, marines scale from 6 damage to 9 with attack upgrades (150% damage) but marauders only scale from 20 to 26 (130%) so you should include that in your calculations.
Marines with smart fire are also superior at killing probes by far, if you get the opportunity you can kill an entire mineral line in mere seconds, where it is harder for marauders to do damage if they are not shooting buildings.

i seem to get marauder dropped every game and it is incredibly annoying, I have even lost nexi whn 2 medivacs drop and my army is elsewhere.

Yes, larger maps mean you can't really put on pressure without it being all in since it'll be hard to defend any counter attacks. Drops should be more effective on the bigger maps, but we'll have to see.
Also, terran is the hardest to reinforce with as protoss has warp-in and zerg has super fast units (except for BLs).
Random musing: There's only one English language pack but there are multiple Spanish language packs for the game...One for Spain and one for South/Central America I'm assuming.

How about hellions before patch? xD And can't hellions run faster than stim marines? If they react fast enough can't you just pull away your workers? Or is the point that with marines you can still snipe some of the pylons like the ones on the border of his base?
PvP build i've been messing around with (high platinum)
Basically open normal, 13/14 gate get zealot and 2 stalkers chronoed out and harass/scout with them around 5-5:30, retreat as warpgate kicks in (not essential to the build but helps delay greedy 4 gate builds) start sentry as 2nd stalker finishes, get 2nd gas and two more gates as you move out. if i see or suspect essentially anything besides a 4 gate all in, put down a stargate, then eventually a robo.
tech to hallucination and take a 2nd as you feel comfortable/after you hold first push
army composition ends up being (ratio) 10 zealots, 5-7 sentrys, 2-3 voidrays (maybe a couple phoenix if needed), 3-5 immortals
hallucinate zealots (or a couple vr's if opponent intent on picking them off), snipe observers, and forcefield behind stalkers.
I've been doing really really well with this in platinum. occasionally i'll die to a well executed four gate or tons of phoenix's but usually can just ff the ramp and reinforce. This build has been crushing the standard stalker heavy builds, especially once they waste money on a few immortals or colli.
any advice on how this might go in the higher leagues?
TvP, how do you deal with a warp prism sentry drop where they forcefield your ramp and wreck your main. Usually i play economy style, so i take my natural fast and end up with all my units at the bottom when suddenly that happens. Should i just build my depos by the edges so i can react fast enough? even if i do, sometimes its so fast theres no time to react. Any advice?
This week I have lost 20 ranks on ladder, tilted like 10 games in a row with maybe winning 5 games inbetween. 85% of all loses are against cheese mostly and the rest is probably econ cheese. I am curious what I should do? I don't want to take a break because then I might come back rusty I feel... I analysis everyone of my games, and I feel I don't do so much wrong except maybe my "playstyle" which often tends to be as safe as possible but I just break down after a few games and do stupid shits I feel, if I try to play safe they go econ cheese and if I try to pressure or so they go all-in cheese. :/
I'm just not sure how to improve and keep climbing on ladder, now around mid master with this current tilt and keep losing more and more.

Being maxed out on 200/200 battle with a lot of lings can certainly put a strain on many computers. Locking up is a bit extreem though. Also it baffles me when people say they have the same cpu when all the first person mentions is 2.4 GHz. There can be huge variations depending on the kind of cpu.

Yes, if that happens it is simply an autowin. You need to have enough marines on the high ground to kill the sentry or warp prism. They will always drop the sentry near the ramp so keep the marines there. With a bunker they will on many maps help protect the lowground too.

Be ready for it if he goes robo.
He either went 1 base robo and you scouted it with your scan (you scanned right?) so you are quite vunerable and need to be careful (check immortal counts if you can with an scv, follow his army movement if he isnt in his main/natural) or he went for nexus into robo and wont really be able to do game ending damage to you until the timing of atleast 5-6gate + prism at like 8 minutes at the earliest, where you should have enough units and depot vision to hold it pretty easily if you actually scouted
TvZ has evolved to a great match up for both players, spectators and for esports. I could even go as far as saying the well designed Z race and the not-so-bad design on Terran is the founding which Starcraft 2 as an esport rest upon.
With that said, are you not worried about what will happen to this fine line of epic battles when battle hellions are introduced in HotS? It could surely lead to mech being too viable in TvZ again, and mech is just not what it used to be in BW, it is downright less interesting to spectate without Vultures spamming mines all over the map. With battle hellions and the new mini-Thors, perhaps the super packed action games we've seen on top KR level with tanks marines vs ling bling muta are over.
I feel this MU now is actually almost up there with the same excitement as in Brood War, and any changes in TvZ would probably not make it even more epic, but rather start to look like the dreaded MU people call PvX.
I doubt Blizzard will notice it before release, since they probably saw the horrible P design early in WOL, and still they kept units like Colossus, Mothership and Force Fields in the game(!). Is it up to us to see that what Bliz did to WoL Protoss must not happen for the Terran (and Zerg) in HotS?

As a rule of thumb, execute commands manually 1 by 1. At least until you're extremely mechanically comfortable, at which point you can decide whether or not it will be faster to shift queue commands rather than just manually clicking them.
Going 1 by 1 completely ensures that your units won't bug out.
There's a maphacker on the ladder who has the MMR of a mid/high masters called iPlayHard. If you face him, HE WILL proxy 2gate you. If you win, he uses the "Results Disagree" hack to ensure that he doesn't lose points and you don't get a win... This is a complete disgrace to Starcraft in general. If you see him on the ladder, please report him.

I remember back in 2010, shortly after SC2 was released, Day9 was like "I'm going to screw around and just make an account where I make Blink Stalkers. Haha that wont turn out too well"
Yeah. Look how that turned out in retrospect of today's metagame

Not much at all. The difference between top diamond and low masters is negligible, and the same goes for all the other leagues. However, the skill it takes to transition from league to league increases as rank increases. Going from gold --> platinum for me was a complet breeze, but going from diamond to masters a few days ago took a week's worth of intense playing and 60% win/loss ratios.

A ton of people on battle.net forums talk about how NA GM is bugged again but I haven't found anything about it on teamliquid so far. There seems to be a huge amount of unknown people in NA GM at the moment while this isn't the case for EU for example but maybe it's alright.
Can anybody elaborate on this or link to an existing thread?
Mikelangelo has been top EU for a long time, I think it was a smurf account by someone well known, just don't remember who. Not sure though, but I know I've read about it somewhere long ago.

Yeah, it's for sure a smurf account. Maybe a Korean?
Was wondering is it possible to get Korean sounds(i know its with texts) to my game? Ive found server switcher wich can do it but I want to keep playing on EU
Does anyone know where I can have easy access to sc2 videos that I can put on my ipad. I don't really know much about videos and possible methods. I thought it would be cool to have some gsl videos, but I can't ever remember being able to download the games.

I'm not aware of a way to view reps on your iOS device, but there is an app called SC2casts that is pretty nice. You can search games by players, casters or events. It's not free, but it's still pretty cheap if it's worth it to you.

Well you can watch you tube videos on your ipad easily. You can also download the justin.tv app or the new(and much improved) twitch.tv app. As far as actually viewing replay files on your iPad you can use one of many apps to view the screen of your pc or mac and interact with the replay( this will be much slower (from what I've heard) if you use the 3g). I HIGHLY RECOMMEND AGAINST attempting to play a game of sc2 through your iPad. I tried once and lets just say it was stupidly difficult. I think I sent my drones to the minerals about the time my opponents took their thirds. Also my ally got pissed because he lost his ladder points.
Is this a new/different metalopolis on a different tileset? All metalopolis maps I've seen are blue/nighttime themed. This tileset looks like olive-ish green. If this is a different variation of metalopolis, does anyone know what it's called? I'd like to have it.

Why don't Zergs split their muta group and harass at 2 different places?
I was playing Sc2 BW and as I can't select more than 12 I ended up just going mass muta and attacking at multiple different angles. Surely this translates to SC2

Muta flocks get exponentially better with every Muta added due to their AoE, and when a Zerg reaches that 24< Muta point static defences such as turrets and cannons no longer matter, past 30 Mutas and CC's/Nexuses and production buildings can be sniped off with ease, if left undefended.
Splitting into two groups of 10-15 Mutas allows the T/P to defend them with greater ease, as the two groups become much less deadly than a combined first would be, so some static defence + units at each location is all that is needed to defend.
Also, maybe at some point it's feasible in the game's skill cap for a player to control two groups of Muta's while still maintaining full control over macro/creep spread etc, but currently I can't think (Asides from maybe some situations in ZvZ, Nestea has used smaller control groups of Muta's in some games, but that's ZvZ) of a situation where it would be worth it, Mutalisk conservation is a huge part of Mutalisk styles in ZvT/ZvP and even players such as DRG and IdrA, famed for fantastic Muta control still lose Mutas in situations where maybe it could have been avoided, so two control groups would result in even more losses.
Hopefully someone smarter than me could say this in a better way, hope this helps!
Does anyone have a build order for the fast robo pressure that Artosis does on stream in PVT? It seems like a solid build, but I couldn't find the build order on TL or Liquipedia. It allows you to get a fast Observer, pressure with Immortals/Stalkers/Sentries, and gets a moderately fast expo.
I don't know if it fits into this thread, but I am having problems with hotkeying recently. Usually I was able to Hotkey with Ctrl + Number, but recently it was quite rando. Once I was able to hotkey with both Ctrl + Number AND Shift + Number, but often I'm unable to Hotkey stuff at all / only with Shift + Number. The problem with Shift + Number is it adds the building selected before the actual building to the Control Group (E.g. if I select the CC, then the Barracks (without having the CC selected) and press Shift + 5 it will automatically assign both the Barracks and CC to Control Group 5).

Anyone got an idea on how to fix this?
Sounds odd you can't hotkey with ctrl. You haven't switched from ps/2 to usb? Trying an other keyboard could settle if it's a keyboard or OS problem.
Well, I don't know if it may be caused by the special feature which disables the Windows Key (I got a Logitech G15), but I doubt it as I've been trying it both with and without the key activated.
It also just happened suddenly after finishing a few games, I haven't changed anything (I've been changing the graphical settings from High to Low, and activated the Flyer Helper, Game Timer, disabled the Tooltips and so on, Also hid the menu on top of the screen, but Control Group Visibility is on Normal, but it was occuring before that aswell).
Also It'd be interesting to know what exactly the Flyer Helper is.

It's just a typical Gate - Robo - Gate expand. You take your second gas at around 20-21, the numbers do all the working out for you if you just wing it. It's a pretty simple build.

Hey guys, I have a very general question. What is the best way to get better at sc2?
Laddering doesn't seem to help me improve that much, even when I play a lot more. I grinded 200+ games trying to get into GM in the week before season 5 but pretty much ended up in the same rank as before. Is custom games versus good players the only way to get better? Is there an alternative?
my family is getting new tv, phone and cable installed today and the installation guy looks a lot like gretorp :o
edit: @scila there are a ton of custom maps like marine split challenge that can help you improve your game. analyzing replays of both yourself and of players your level is also very beneficial to finding out your strengths, but more importantly your weaknesses.

Honestly I don't think really aiming for GrandMaster when you are probably (completely) new at StarCRaft 2 is the right way to go about it. I myself am in Bronze League and I can tell you that you won't LEARN anything, as most of your opponents don't use build orders or do not execute them too well. However you can always look at your own play, supply count, and see where you made mistakes when executing your build order and so on. Such helps you get better aswell. Also I suggest you turn your sound off and set every graphics to low, as it will force you to look around more often, look at your supply count and so on. It simply forces you to be aware of your situation and punishes you if you're not, that is also a great way to learn if you really notice your mistakes.

I live in NA and have an NA and a TW account (both with my same account so I log in the same just use a different client) I want to get an EU account so I am assuming I just log into battle.net select region , EU and than purchase it using all the same stuff? there was a warning on the site that said
"Game Region Warning Retail copies sold in United States (your account country) will connect to the North America game region."
but on the page for payment it says "region, europe" so how do I get a working european starcraft 2 game on my same account?
I just ran into some called "tossgirl". I'm in NA and in Silver League, and checking the match history, looked like they had lost about 4 in a row before I played them. I asked if they were famous somewhere, and they said Korea, then asked if I was Chinese. I then explained that "qq" meant something like crying, and then I held off a voidray all-in. Afterwards, they expanded to every other base on the map (which I was able to scout with the Vikings I had made) and from there, I got up on upgrades and killed off all the expos.
Now...granted, I was in silver league, and I'm fairly certain a BW pro as good as tossgirl wouldn't have fallen to a lowly silver league Terran like me, but the taking of the whole map, and the unit control I saw were absolutely "Korean", if I may be so bold. I couldn't find a "tossgirl" stream, so I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this player on the NA server as well, and if so, if the rumors of tossgirl coming to SC2 might thus be true. Not sure what she'd be doing on the NA servers losing to silver leaguers though...

100% sure that if you played the real tossgirl, she'd have demolished you easily. With no offence meant, I struggle to envision a pro or former pro of any RTS (especially BW) losing to someone in silver given enough exposure to SC2 to not lose to ridiculous things.
If she was gonna switch to SC2 (or indeed if she's been playing it in her free time) she'd likely not have used the name tossgirl, she'd likely be on KR and not NA and she'd be masters on any server unless she'd literally just started playing.
Hey guys, im not sure this is the right place for this question but i'll give it as try. Does anyone know a site where you can get a cheap SC2 (US) cd key? I only want the cd key, not a game case

Just fyi, sixjaxmajor, when he first came from sc:bw, got into masters instantly. He did this without even knowing what a creep tumour did, because his mechanics he transferred from sc1 were just that good. Tossgirl could easily wipe the floor with major in sc1. Guaranteed she would transition to sc2 much in the same way.
i recently saw mc doing that 3gate/blink/obs push vs. terran. is there something like a "build-order" for that ? i just want to know some timings on 2nd gas and twilight council/robo .
Haha okay thanks guys. I was fairly certain I didn't get matched up against a BW pro-gamer at 2 am last night on the NA server, but I definitely had my doubts...that bit about Major is definitely interesting though.
hello --- can any1 explain to me why the most important thread in here,, the practice partner season (5 of current) thread doesn't work -- the script suppose to load in the players into a summarized form doesn't work, and it did not work in season 4 either.

Is there a keyboard layout within Starcraft 2 where I can remap a few keys? My hotkeying still f*cks up, had to give up another match because of that Ctrl + Number issue.
I've found quite a few threads about this here on Teamliquid.net but they were made during the beta, so I'd like to know if Blizzard included something like this by now, because I can't find anything.
I wasn't sure if it was worthy of making a new thread or which forum it would go into, so I figured I'd post here.
What matchup do people feel like has the most draws in it? I've watched probably thousands of games and I recall seeing 3 pvp draws, a tvz, and a pvz at some point. I figure it's definitely <1% of all games that result in draws, but if people could post their experiences with draws and their thoughts on them I think it would be pretty cool.
Personaly I am of the opinion that pvp results in them most often just because I feel like cannon rushes can result in drawish situations more frequently than any other build or style of play.
I've seen many "Bronze to GM" themed blogs, but most of them are very new or were quickly abandoned. (Surprise Surprise ) I'm curious, can anyone point me to one of these blogs where significant (2 or more league promotions) progress was actually made?
Love to read a success story... Doesn't have to be a blog literally Bronze to Gm, any blog detailing significant progress would do... The more information the better...
I've got a quick question. Sometimes when watching a streamer they type something in to chat in game, but it doesn't actually send the message. Like they press a different key to erase what they just typed out instead of backspacing all the way and pressing enter as a way to communicate with the stream viewers when they don't have a mic. What do they press to do this?

Well, funny you should ask but only last night MC and JYP drew in one of their matches. I can also recall a few more PvP's going to a draw, whilst I do remember a few other matches being a draw (and I mean only a few) I certainly feel that there is more draws in PvP, if nothing else because of the fact that base trading is more common in that match-up than any other.

Ctrl + Backspace will delete entire words instead of characters in most windows clients.
I've got a question but didn't want to start a new thread... hopefully someone can answer as I'm new to here....
But how do you defend someone building proxy gates and rushing zealots in a large map (I guess it was an all in move), I scouted his base and knew after there was nothing there.. but couldn't find where he was building... In fact it was a 2v2 TPvPP, so in came 8 zealots which we weren't able to defend, we even had a bunker block...
On January 09 2012 08:38 Ixtlilton wrote: What matchup do people feel like has the most draws in it?.
I have seen quite a few TvT draws. Both Terran drop each other and each base is wiped out before a Viking can be produced. Terran lift off their CC and hide it in the corner until draw.

THanks in advance
The only thing I can think of without a replay is that you didn't wall off and/or you played way too greedy even though you knew there were some hijinx inbound...it should be more or less impossible for zealots to bust a terran ramp without ranged support.
I was testing a build vs AI today and noticed something, SC2 is really smooth when played offline! By smooth I mean no lags or delay regarding ping. My question is: Do everybody notice a huge delay/ping difference between offline mode vs AI and ladder? I feel my net is making me lag more than I should, and it's really hurting my micro.

I don't know about the fact taht base trading is more common in PvP but I do remember that game and it was INSANE. I almost chewed my fingers off every time JYP moved away from his assimilator.
Back to the topic at hand, i feel like certain strategies have more base-races, regardless of what their opponent is doing. For example, the more mobile or harass oriented strategies like MMM, Muta-Ling, or Blink Stalkers have the chance of ending up in a base race intentionally or not, if you are getting attacked with your army already in the middle of your opponent's base

If you press escape, it will cancel the message. Be careful, however, because if you're talking and playing at the same time, you might end up canceling something in-game. I canceled my first gateway once in a PvP because I was talking. I lost.
im just wondering if macro keys are allowed in tournament play, i have the sidewinder x4 keyboard and i have the first macro key to be shift+0 so i can add my bases to that hotkey without taking up space in the 1,2,3,4,5,6 region which is about the farthest i can reach
