But I doubt its Moon. It just makes too much sense. Umm EG has a huge fan base. Idra and huk are two of, if not the, most popular players in the world. Sure there are a fair amount of haters, but you seriously underestimate how popular EG is. Okay. No, seriously. Moon has more followers on his Chinese Twitter-clone than all of EG has on Twitter atm. (And there are a lot of fans who are "doubled" for both Huk and IdrA and many of the other EG SC2 players.) I know it's not a perfect measure, but it's a decent indication of minimum number of fans, especially since Twitter's fairly popular in the Western world and in the eSports world. Nobody's underestimating EG's popularity. But a lot of people here underestimate Moon's popularity in China (and China's massiveness). To put it into perspective, IdrA has ~40k followers on Twitter. HuK, ~30k. This is a lot, right?
On the Chinese Twitter-copy, Moon has ~440k followers, Lyn ~120k, Grubby ~600k, Infi ~480k, and Sky over one million. Flash has ~120k, too. (For those curious: XiGua ~66k. MacSed ~61k.) China is huge and crazy. Don't underestimate that place.
I still don't think EG picked up Moon; after all, they did let go of Grubby, and Moon isn't someone who'll willingly stream a lot or do a ton of PR stuff. My money is on JYP. But really, you can do a lot worse than Moon.

Like I can understand if you don't like IdrA, but PuMa never does anything that's like BM (at least not to my knowledge). It makes me laugh whenever people talk about EG's bad rep. It doesn't matter, their rep gets them tons of fans. iNcontrol has tons of fans. IdrA has tons of fans. PuMa has tons of fans. HuK has tons of fans. And every time their haters bash them, their fans defend them even more. Moon would be really interesting as a choice, but it will probably be either JYP.
People find PuMa annoying because he used to occasionally 1-1-1 against protoss opponents in major tournaments. Do I agree with this hate? Not at all, but as nothing I say will change their opinion, to each his own.

Lol so now when jinro says something it is most pros. I will give you that EG has a good portion of haters but it is way overblown to what it really is. The EG haters want you to think they are the most hated team when in realty they are far from it. Just like how many people thought idra and huk hated each others guts but look at how wrong that turned out to be. Most thing in the TL community are over sensationalized.

I believe it's similar to the oGs-TL partnership, no funding is being supplied to Slayers for their players to go to foreign tournys, just a partnership that allows them to use the team house while in Korea.

iirc, Ryung said something along the lines of it was more annoying [relative to IdrA and HuK] for practice since PuMa talks more [than them]. In no way did he directly say that PuMa was annoying.

Link one article where IdrA, Huk or Puma receive bad press.
Find one tweet where the Mouz and EG twitter war was inappropriate and steps beyond the bounds of playful trash talking.
If EG wasn't a popular team no one would care about them picking up a new player and this thread wouldn't have a ton of traffic (especially considering this is the 3rd time they've done this.)
Do you honestly believe that IdrA and Huk are disliked by the community? Do you believe that their high stream view count and large fanclubs are filled entirely with haters?

Damnit, I was really hoping it would be DRG. EG needs a protoss, though.

Not just Jinro. Many players have said similar things, like TLO. And IdrA and HuK DID hate eachother up until HuK was signed to EG. You tell me saying "Fuck You" at MLG with 100,000+ people watching isnt telling of how IdrA felt at that time before HuK was signed to EG? Once HuK is signed to EG, of course they are going to like eachother now.
And the Puma issue where he was in a verbal agreement/contract with another team, but signed with EG instead. Sure, its "legal" since he didnt sign in ink with the other team, but morally not very nice. But I know most people think similarly; who cares about morality as long as it gets you that extra buck right?
If they signed Moon, they instantly become one of the most liked teams solely from Moon's presence. It would be similar if they got WhiteRa, Day[9] or Grubby too, but we know those wont happen. Just saying the power of a player with a positive image can help a team that is known for .. whatever you want to call EG being known for..

However, IdrA said many times he didn't like HuK's semi-gimmicky risky playstyle, and that inside the game, even now post Huk-joining-EG, their ingame personalities still clash today (less so). Slightly off topic, but how could you conclusively say that IdrA did hate HuK just based on a "Fuck you" ? Even in front of many 3rd parties, I imagine I must really hate ....well almost everyone in my life really aside from family elders if that were the case.

And all these interviews are as you said, "recent". IE they are teammates now, they are not obviously going to come out and say "I HATE THIS GUY"
Watch MLG when HuK wasnt on EG, watch all the bad manner in the lobby screen, then carrying over into the game (saying Fuck You at MLG, among other things like hallu voidray trashtalk in the next game) - watch how they interact in person outside of the game ie no handshakes/etc, Watch IdrA go on stage for his post-game interviews saying "HuK is a bad player" and many more events that happened BEFORE huk joined EG. Not to mention if you watched their stream everytime they matched up and the words that flew during those games on ladder, its clear they didnt like eachother prior to HuK joining EG. I don't know how this is even arguable.
So yes, if they really were "friends" even back to that MLG, it must of been a huge publicity stunt pulled off to try to generate a "rivalry" feel. I doubt that though.
Why do you think that EG signing HuK announcement was so huge in the first place? It was seen as the two players who hated eachother the most in SC2, now playing on one team.

i just love how some people one day can defend EGs signing of Puma, Idras bm calling people idiots etc infront of crowds and so on. And the next day they are in a different topic, crying over how bm it is to not say GG in a game and how it is killing esport :-)

I mean, as it stands right now, EG is pretty hated with IdrA being their posterboy and buying out Puma (another annoying player) and HuK. If they want to get a good following again, Moon would bring that, because just about everyone in the world who isnt a BW elitist knows how amazing Moon is. Hell, for someone who is placing top 3 in the worlds biggest WC3 tournaments, and consistently beating code A/S players in SC2 at the same time, that is amazing, as 99% of SC2 players can't even beat code A players being 100% focused.
But I doubt its Moon. It just makes too much sense. Umm EG has a huge fan base. Idra and huk are two of, if not the, most popular players in the world. Sure there are a fair amount of haters, but you seriously underestimate how popular EG is. Yup, every super popular player has its haters. That was incredibly silly to say that they are hated out a ton because of idra/puma/huk lol. Well, by the sole definition of "popular", Kim Kardashian is popular too. Everyone knows about her in the western world. Doesnt mean everyone likes or respects her. I dont think many people "like" or respect EG at this point, especially when many pro teams like Liquid and Mouz have publicly displayed their dislike by saying things like "I'd NEVER join EG" or just looking at the twitter wars Alex starts. I guess all that matters these days is "press", regardless if it is good or bad press. Its been covered like a trillion times already. IdrA himself said that he and HuK got along well outside the game prior to huk ever joining EG. However, IdrA said many times he didn't like HuK's semi-gimmicky risky playstyle, and that inside the game, even now post Huk-joining-EG, their ingame personalities still clash today (less so). Id link an interview with either IdrA or HuK but virtually all recent interviews discuss this issue time again. If you want to think that its a publicity stunt or that both HuK and idrA are lying about it for whatever reason fine by me. But im gonna agree with what they've both said for the past few months.. And all these interviews are as you said, "recent". IE they are teammates now, they are not obviously going to come out and say "I HATE THIS GUY" Watch MLG when HuK wasnt on EG, watch all the bad manner in the lobby screen, then carrying over into the game (saying Fuck You at MLG, among other things like hallu voidray trashtalk in the next game) - watch how they interact in person outside of the game ie no handshakes/etc, Watch IdrA go on stage for his post-game interviews saying "HuK is a bad player" and many more events that happened BEFORE huk joined EG.
You have never told someone you didn't absolutely hate "Fuck you"? Have you never talked trash to a friend while playing Halo or something? You are trying to force the situation to fit your beliefs because you want to justify something o_O..

Eh, it's only double standard if it's the same people. It's a big site with a lot of different views.

In a playful match? sure. (actually probably not, its stupid, but I can see how its not a big deal) - on an MLG stage with 100,000+ watching? Hell no.
i just love how some people one day can defend EGs signing of Puma, Idras bm calling people idiots etc infront of crowds and so on. And the next day they are in a different topic, crying over how bm it is to not say GG in a game and how it is killing esport :-)
double standard anyone?
Yea, these are the same guys who call Naniwa bad mannered for the GSL thing yet Naniwa didnt do anything to break any rules in GSL; nor did he say anything in a GSL game except GG. Yet saying F you in a televised match and saying people are bad in interviews is acceptable? Not to mention there are times when IdrA has sent all his drones giving up when the game actually had meaning (Idra vs MC game 4 after idra fell 0-3) but that was acceptable to them - Total double standard.
Anyways, im done talking. Its futile trying to reason with people so incredibly biased.
