It's all true! Team IM has started streaming!
http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/Incredible Miracle
STREAM THREAD: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=300418
+ Show Spoiler + If I understood right from poorly google translated twitter messages from @Ethan_Ahn and some link to a website with an announcement about it, apparently Team IM will start to stream on own3d.tv in 2012. Man I'm so freaking happy to see the increasing number of Korean streamers on foreign sites like own3d and twitch. PLEASE NOTE: This doesn't necessary mean that any of the Team IM players are going to be personally streaming, seems more of a day9-daily type of web-show. Edit: Seeker was kind to translate the original article from leveltory.com- Huge props to him!
+ Show Spoiler + IM,
Translation:
Team IM to start broadcasting streams
IM, being called the greatest team ever in 2011, wish to live up to that name and take the initiative to start broadcasting streams. The IM coach Gang Dong Hoon contacted "leveltory" and announced that through a cable connection they will "start broadcasting streams in test format (as is they'll be testing this to see how it goes) next early January. The reason the team IM hadn't been streaming is because they did not want their players' strategies being exposed.
However something very important to note is that IM players themselves will not be appearing but coach Gang Dong Hoon will be appearing for these streams. He will basically be running a "know how" course program and might also introduce future IM players through individual broadcasting and also show replay analysis of their players as well as format changes. (No idea if "format changes" is even what they're talking about but that's what it says) Also, for the international fans (people outside of Korea) they will bring in MLG's translator Kim Sung Hwan to translate everything that is going on.
IM will be streaming through own3D.tv and will announce their official schedule at a later date.
So it appears to be a bit of a different format rather than just players streaming their own ladder games. None the less it's amazing to see a Korean team to take on a such an initiative to bring content to us foreign fans as Hwanni (You might remember him from the Artosis' progaming house videos and being a badass translator at the MLG Providence.) will be translating everything.

Edit: Could also be old news but at least the search function didn't find me anything related :p

Yep, I gathered this from the translation as well. Can't wait!
this is so nice. more more and more awesome Terran streamers
Very nice! Sounds like IM is going to be very involved in this, even making a stream schedule. If true, this is going to be quite nice. I hate own3d, but I'll get over it to watch the best :D
Own3d.tv isn't that bad. There is room for improvement in some areas, but their service isn't as bad as some make it out to be.
Anyway, I can't wait to see them stream!

MVP AND NESTEA!!!! OMG!!!!

Most importantly they're the best choice for the players and teams, bigger ad revenues afaik.

On a Quantic & IM interview, the IM manager/coach whoever said that MVP and Nestea will start streaming at some point. Hopefully soon.

Why is twitch so greedy and dont pay as much as own3d, I cant stand that site.
I doubt MVP or Nestea will stream..

They join Quantic, Quantic says get facebook, twitter and streaming, the leave quantic, then get facebook, twitter and streaming. XD

am i the only one who thinks the layout of own3d sucks? it would be so much better if you could see the stream and chat at the same time, otherwise i'd rather just watch a replay.

Own3d creates a new irc channel for each room. So they don't really use any built in chat except for the small web-irc thingy. You can always open the chat into a small pop-up window, if you enjoy reading people talking about gay sex and how shit/good idra is compared to the streamer. :p

own3d sucks because it doesn't sponsor TL imo.

To be honest it'll probably look like the matrix or something crazy like that, us mere mortals probably won't understand a thing :/

Too bad about own3d, they got a lot of catching up to do with Twitch.
Of course they pay better.. and it's all about the show I guess.

Great news! I love the fact they are using own3d though, especially the IRC chat that it provides.

I think they'll do just fine, all the Koreans are using own3d and some foreigners are switching to it as well.

Apparently SlayerS have made a deal or a contract of sorts with own3d, that their players will only stream on own3d.tv. (I assume IM has done the same thing?). That'll probably as well courage other Korean players to stream there as well.

Anyway, I can't wait to see them stream! I can hardly watch it. And no HD for me, 360p is the only one that seems to work. So bad. Twitch is the best imo.

I don't like Own3d but I'll deal with it if I get to see nestea and the rest of IM

Cool, but not surprising at all.

Mvp and Nestea will stream. It was stated by their coach a while ago in an interview, so there is no reason to doubt if they will stream or not. They will.
Going to be awesome! not the biggest fan of own3d either, but with them offering more money to streamers, and many people switching over, twitch might be forced to increase the amount they pay to streamers before they lose everyone. maybe then we'll see people switching back to twitch :D
Meh anyways, will be interesting to see how many viewers Nestea and MVP bring in. I'd imagine it'd be around Idra level, possibly higher?

A lot of own3d.tv streamers get a ton of viewers. Are you trying to imply they don't?
Advertisers, invest here.
This isn't that suprising - considering the amount of koreans that have begun streaming. This is really good news for everyone that wants to watch some high caliber play from korea's finest!
I much prefer twitch to own3d, I run on low bandwidth and when own3d defaults to HD every time, that gets fustrating, but twitch.tv either defaults to SD or has a cookie or similar on my PC/twitch account so knows to switch to 360p when I load it. Owned also takes a while to refresh (shows some previous/old image) when I load up an HD stream, and twitch doesn't really have that problem.
plus i prefer twitch's volume slider
also I want gunrun to have my babies
I have owned.tv, and I especially hate the part where their stream unmutes itself. This drives me crazy.
But if MVP was streaming then I'd have no choice..

I think we will see MVP and Nestea stream because they will attract the most viewers (and then LoSirA, Happy). And with so many Koreans streaming ladder anyways, I don't think leaking strategy will be an issue. Since I think half of the players MVP/Nestea meets on ladder are probably streaming anyways ROFL...
And they will probably ladder for fans and some basic builds and work on mechanics/micro rather then use it for develope special builds.
Plus MVP plays random on ladder so it will be quite interesting to see his Zerg and Toss play
Guess they noticed the other koreans streams are a success and negotiated some lucrative deal with own3d =) Good stuff

Guys most important thing to note:
IM players themselves will not be streaming. It will be coach Gang Dong Hoon who will be running a kind of "know how" course program with other things included.
Sweet will be looking forward to the replay analysis
Thanks for translation, Seeker.
And wow, seems IM is take Korean streaming to a new level. Because right now, it is basically player streams and no conmentary (due to language and players don't want to give away too much of their thought process and strategy). But having the coach filter it and do analysis would be great. There are many times where the players will do something we don't understand and we want to ask. Hopefully, this can give us a better understanding. Although I would like to see individual player streams in the future if this works out. And I love that they are going to bring in a translator.
Losira said he will only stream if he wins GSL, so I assume this will only apply to the lower level players, sadly.
hwani said on his twitter that he will start streaming with IM coach advices... he also gona translate what the coach said to viewer (most likely on twitch). Might be related
**Girlish scream**
Can never have too much MVP and Nestea. Also its going to be awesome to see the coach playing a more community involved role, I know that works very successfully for a certain Slayers Coach.
Final note: Hwanni, you sir are a baller. Look forward to seeing him as well.
let the streams roll. streaming is a great way to promote the team/players. plus you make some ok cash from it. i will watch all the ads for you!
It's fine watching a few streams on own3d IMO but as soon as tournaments start using it more and more then I'll be mad

Streaming the players would be awesome, but they are going to be having their coach basically do day9dailies; but for high level play? This sounds like the best thing ever.
I think people are forgetting the most important part of this discussion. Remember watching Losira's hands at MLG's? If he sets up a cam on his fingers that's all I'm going to be watching.
This is really good and all, and I'm going to look forward to watching MVP for sure, but before everyone gets too excited, Nestea probably (and I mean with great probability) won't be streaming a lot, if anything it'll be like 1x a week or something.
The reason I say this is because 99.99% of Nestea's ladder/custom games are all played in PCBangs, and he wouldn't be able to stream from there.
I wish it were Twitch instead of own3d, but as long as I can watch IM stream matches, I'll take what I can get
IM Happy to see Nestea play!!

It seems like many people are missing the point of what Seeker said, only the coach will stream. I can only hope this eventually morphs into player streaming but I'm not sure, they would still have the reason of not wanting to reveal strategies.

As much as i would like to watch MVP, with bomber and forgg (edit: AND polt) streaming, and slayers to join them, at least terran (thats what i watch mainly so i will limit my post on that) streaming is pretty much "saturated", it will be very nice to have a translated show with a lot of information from a korean proteam (THE korean proteam imo), i somewhat hope for a korean "day9 daily" and while it may lack day9, i guess the insight and analysis would be amazing!

Nestea is probably just doing it for the money for his team and just do stupid roachling allins every game.
As for MVP it doesn't hurt him if he streams in public, doubt SC2 players (with the exception of ForGG) have the mechanics to keep up with his strategies / execution anyway

I doubt MVP or Nestea will stream..
Why is the own3ds quality so shitty and inconsistent. I can't stand that site.
Is there any benefit from streaming apart from the ad revenue?
Nestea/Losira will be on my watch for ever!! fuck my sleep schedule :3
I'd watch nestea's stream 24/7. Goodbye bandwidth
sound seems a bit low~ :<
It started! oh god i didnt see it on the TL sidebar wtf? man this sucks Who has been on?
I guess it's not featured on the TL side bar since they took away all the team streams from the featured lists.
Yeah but they have to make an exception for IM!
IMMVP is commentating....
Ridiculous, IMMVP coaching the caster in TvZ. Went so badly till 20min. Zerg was almost winning, then MVP jumped in. Game lasted about 5mins and zerg lost, hilarious.
so mvp playing Zerg with hwanni commentating ?

He had 3k minerals and 2k gas but was outmined in almost all bases, don't know how he won that. Probably those gosu dropships
lol at that game with the coach vs zerg. He was gonna lose so badly, then switched with mvp and mvp destroyed him hahah
MVP playing zerg right now ... I remember Huk saying that he lost to MVP's zerg on ladder once, really embarassing ...

MVP comes in, starts making drops everywhere, and the next thing you know he's made a maxed tank/marine/ghost army and rolls the zerg.
Also interesting to see how good he is at his off-races.

Look @ the energy on those queens, and that creep spread!

Nestea's T vs MVP's Z?
Go on..
Seriously, at this point I'm wondering if MVP's zerg is better than TLO's or Destiny's. This is ridiculous.

Maybe not all matchups but ZvT seems really good given his knowledge of T.

MVP said he's beaten Bomber and MKP as zerg LOL
baller stream, love the english translation
Now that MKP leaves easily 10k viewers...
Massively Baller stream. So amazing to watch MVP own nerds in first person LOKL
:D he's so awesome!!!!
GO Hwanni for a baller translation
Yeah, hwanni is fucking awesome.
Nice to see MVP first person when playing Zerg, I've seen it from the other side often when watching other Korean's streams. MVP so good
I don't really care for Nestea because there are so many zergs.
I wanna see IMMVP Terran!! So rare to find a good Terran.

That was an insane comeback O.o

The Dark Knight does it again :D
Rly MVP you're a GOD amongst men!!
Can't believe he won that game. Double drop when zerg was death pushing and he barely holds at the front
3 commercials after every game, must be quite awesome to watch for those who actually get ads in their country.
so crazy watching the coach get into such a poor position then MVP just sits down and magics out a win ~~;
How the hell did he win that? 5 base zerg with broods and 10K banelings vs 3 base terran on 85 supply
MVP is pretty much godly
MVP=best overall player, hands down.
God , i can't imagine how good mvp is .
aww hes gone
nestea on friday !
seein MVP play like that is so goddamn inspiring, he just makes it look so easy with his macro, control and understanding its mindblowing to me. Streaming is very much appreciated, big thx to everyone that made it possible.
he's so good, it's both depressing and inspiring
7400 watchers at the end of the stream. Impressive
Naniwa's strategies are making headway on the korean server.
hahahaha @ the naniwa play
Haha that probe thing was hilarious.
This stream is awesome, love the commentary.

MVP was playing today on the stream, he was playing as zerg and he was playing really good, and Hwanni said that MVP even beat MKP and Bomber with his zerg..
I would love to see MVP switch to zerg permanently
More importantly: A wild Artosis voice appears on the stream !
Wow Match History like a boss!
They are calling Artosis to play the coach ahahahha
IM coach challenging Artosis on the stream! dam this is the best stream ever!
I love you Hwanni <3
MVP was just owning kids with zerg, it was cool. Y U so Good MVP!?
great stream so far!
but often it's not clear who is playing and who talking atm, maybe you could fix that in the future ( maybe by some kind of overlay or irc topic)
ohh thats really nice have to watch that stream when ever i can.

Watch the VODs, it's worth it.

that stream was amazing last night.

It's still early, but I think the IM stream is the most enjoyable stream I've seen so far.
I think this is the future of streaming, at least for Korean teams. Just set up a dedicated camera, have a guy do the translating, and rotate in players. The players don't feel the burden of need to stream regularly to keep up the audience, and we in the stream audience get a constant, high-quality content from a variety of players, with a translator fielding questions.
Western players probably will still want individual streams to keep control over their fanbase revenue, but for the big Korean teams, this has enormous potential. Set up a dedicated streaming room, put up a few cameras, have the translator as host, and you could have a IM gaming channel. Just mix it up between streaming with players, fan Q&A, and maybe some teaching sessions with the coaches. If each pro spent 4 hours on stream a week, you'd still have 50+ hours a week.
Watched the Mvp vods and it was awesome. Big thanks to head coach and Hwanni for making this possible!
IM NEEEEEESTEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAA
