Q: What should I be posting about? A: Basically, anything you want to talk about but aren't sure if it warrants a topic of its own. Heard a rumour you want to share? A new video? A question you are sure is super common but can't find the answer to via searching? A brilliant new idea that you want to vet, to make sure it's really as brilliant as you think it is?
This is the place.
Note: Posting standards will not be as high as if you were to make a new thread, but pointless spam will still not be tolerated. I have seen threads like these work out alright on other sites (for other games) so I figured, why not give it a shot? It's possible there's not really enough content for something like this to exist at this point in time, but no harm then, it will just die on its own.
Where do I find some of these replays. I would like to see some ZvT (short games - Perfect example is the Nestea and MVP g1 on Shakuras Plateau) and ZvP (long drawn out Macro games where Zerg wins after facing Protoss' Deathball(s)
I was testing a build vs AI today and noticed something, SC2 is really smooth when played offline! By smooth I mean no lags or delay regarding ping. My question is: Do everybody notice a huge delay/ping difference between offline mode vs AI and ladder? I feel my net is making me lag more than I should, and it's really hurting my micro.
I'm trying to become a coach for my school's CSL team. Btw it'll be the first generation...and wondering if there's any kind of advice out there for trying to coach a SC2 team??
Does anyone think that the addition of Shredders and Battle Hellions could make TvP mech viable? Shredders could give map control for counter attacks and battle hellions would protect the tanks from mass chargelots. On paper it sounds quite good to me. Any opinions?

I don't see shredders regularly getting through the shields on protoss units. A few stalkers or zealots could probably punch through one before losing too much hull health. On the other hand, they could be a good way to deal with DTs without detection or using scans.

But they would surely help while slowpushing with a mech army. 3-4 well positioned shredders in front, battle hellions behind and tanks in the back. It really seems like it could work. If anything, they would still force Protoss back.

I play on EU if that matters.
I noticed the exact same thing, which is what made me completely stop playing on the NA server (i live in england). i always thought that the game was just a little buggy, but it turns out the reason that i never built a probe when i split probes at the start of a game was because the latency was too high for it to register my click and 'e' press. the game is so much better when played offline, which is why everyone wants LAN.

i don't think there will be any way to tell until the game comes out, although i feel like it will be more useful against zerg since zerglings are so weak.

they wouldn't be very useful against DTs, unless they are going to walk up your ramp to get you, since shredders don't work near allied units so you couldn't just put one in your mineral line or it would turn off.

maybe it will just be a micro battle of collosus trying to snipe the overextended shredders, while vikings try to snipe any overextending collosus?! who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

Totally agreed. You should start with the most simple things and move on once your players have complete grasp of them. Teaching complicated build orders when your players don't have a good foundation will only lead them to lose when things don't go as planned.

I don't know how the connection is between different countries in India but I would pick between Southeast Asia and China, just judging by the geographical location of India.
Yeah I agree with simpynator - China is most like the region you fall into... although seems a bit of an oversight from blizzard, Asia is pretty big hehe.

I've experienced this problem going from multiplayer games to the single player challenge missions. I thought I was the only one as well because I've never seen anyone mention this particular caveat. I'd be interested in seeing if there is anything to this because I'd like to replicate that single player control feeling in multiplayer. It just feels a lot better.
Edit: I should mention that I play on the NA server, it's not that I'm trying to get onto another region. I think the game would end before I would get to do anything, the lag would be so high.

I imagine they'd be good in larger main maps like lost temple for putting on the edge of your base to prevent warp prism drop/warp in on the edges of the base, with a little support. i can imagine that they'd tear through a toss unit pretty quick as it was warping in. or for useful line of sight areas like the trees next to the natural on xel'naga caverns

I like this idea. Seems to me that a good option will be to reposition and slow push with shredders, alternating them with tanks doing the same. It'd slow down the already super-slow slow push considerably but it would also make Protoss players very unwilling to engage straight up. They'll have to do fun, creative things like using void rays or phoenix (are shredders light?) to pick off shredders while they move forward, forcing marines up into the shredder fields to ward them off, deactivating the shredders and providing a window for the Protoss army to attack.
Personally, I'm excited :D And I don't even play Protoss or Terran!

The stream "market" is over saturated as it is, i think you would have a lot of difficulty getting viewers beyond RL friends and such. edit: it's not a ridiculous idea, i would watch if it weren't for the already unlimited amount of other awesome stuff i could watch :p
On LiquidHero stream I hear a lot of Western popular song -- is the music for the viewer? Is Hero listening to the same music while playing? Do pros listen to music while playing at all?
I actually think having popular music for viewer is a smart idea since streaming aims to less as a hobby and more like a entertainment service now.
So I've been watching a lot of TvZ recently and I've noticed Zerg players are starting to handle Reactor Hellion openings surprisingly well, and the common transition to Siege Tank/Marine is usually well countered by mass Ling/Baneling. Like in the Stephano vs Thorzain games in the SCI4. Do you think the meta game will start to shift away from Reactor Hellion openings to something else?
I'm curious if on the TL forums you have a forum section for players that are starting to cast. To the best of my knowledge we can link our streams to TL after ~2 months, of which I intend to do (:
But I'm starting out casting for some eSports promo (Because we all love eSports and are Sick Nerd Ballers <3) but I don't want to post in the wrong place, so does anyone know the directions? (: My channel is youtube.com/ZiconiusSc2

lol, forget those units, I think the Warhound alone is going to make mech the go-to build in TvP.
Battle Hellions seem so gimmicky, regular hellions as they are now serve their purpose well in mech play (breaking lines with their speed and holding the Protoss in place giving the Terran time to manoeuvre the slow mech army. I think the transform mode will only be used like how the Viking’s transformer mode is currently used, when the Terran is in a clutch situation with no hope of retreat and needs as much damage available to them.
As for the Shredder, I can’t even speculate how that’s going to work out, will just have to wait and see on that one.

I think it's just luck of the draw really, but yesterday (on the SEA server) I did play 7 PvP's out of 8 games (yeah, I realise that been Protoss myself I'm kind of adding to the problem, lol). My second to last game was a PvZ on metal, I was so happy as I consider it my best match up and was just about ready to shoot myself if I had to play another PvP. After all that waiting turns out he just Roach-rushed me with a proxy hatch (in my base rather embarrassingly, didn't notice until I saw creep everywhere). You've got to laugh really.

A pure Warhound army would be useless against zealots. I guess that's what battle helions are for. ^_^
I'm a bit disappointed in their choice to only make Warhounds do bonus damage against mech units. I feel like that could spell doom for mech in TvZ. In WoL Thor is the AA unit of a mech player. Their most important role is to defend against air units but they aren't completely useless against roaches. If Warhounds keep their low damage against non-mech targets i feel like mech in TvZ will be harder after HoTS.

Yes. Don't really worry about how the system works, just know that if you play more, your league will more and more accurately represent your skill.

Yeah, you do get demoted if you consistently play poorly, loosing matches when you are classed as 'favoured' will significantly increase your chances of been demoted. I will say one thing, don't try to drop a league on purpose by instantly quitting games. I'm not 100% sure, but I think if you do it enough the system cops on to what you're doing and bans your account.
Yes. It's a rough science at best, but I've found that if you're consistently being placed against players in a league above your own (and beating them), promotion should be imminent.

I thought they had bonus damage to light air on their AA? This would make them better versus mutas (if so) and you could add more tanks to deal with the roaches, but I guess we'll see.

Hello! Could someone help me out, im trying to start streaming and upload sc2 to youtube on a constant and i need a good codec and compressor, at the moment, im using virtualdub 64 with the H.264 codec for video compression, performance is no issue since i use 6 beutiful cores for the FX6100 amd cpu (i know there is a patch coming to make it faster ) i would really appreciate some help, lastly, i would like to know, how could i start streaming like destiny, day9, or spanishiwa?. THX in advance <3
Why is everyone so damn negative about SC2. Whenever I browse TL forum posts I get the same feedback from the community: SC2 has a shitty design! And this is validated by a wall of text with images showing just HOW BAD the game is, usually with full comparison to BW. Then there is 20+ pages of people talking about that post. You know what I'm talking about, these "Elephant in the room" and other popular topics.
Blizzard could not make BW with pretty graphics, that would of been a disaster. "Why make same game twice???" So, they had to mostly remake units.
Dustin Browder and co aknowledged they made some bad decisions with units, deal with it, it's difficult! They can't make too big changes anymore, that would be a disaster too. Rebalancing everything, pros raging about drastic changes etc.
Now they hopefully learned some lessons for HotS, but it wont be perfect either. Then this TL shit machine starts all over again, probably with "WOL was better, but BW even better" posts flying left and right. And yes, there will be wall of text posts with statistical analysis on how HotS requires no skill at all. With 10 images and links to dozen replays.
My point is, I would love to see less whining about the game in these forums. (Me myself whining about community, go figure
Positive posts would be more fun to read to say the least!

Read up some build orders. If you've found a BO that might suit you (depending on what race you play it is different ofc), just ump into the matches.
You won't meet any league players, only playes that are doing their placement matches aswell. I myself had 5 matches where I encountered cheeses all the time. EVen if you land in Bronze Rank 99 (like me ) you should just analyze your replays and learn. The more you play, the better you analyze your replays, the better you're going to be. And at some point you'll most likely reach Silver once you have a stable skill level.
So, just do your best, try to execute a good build order. If you're lucky you land in Gold or somewhere higher up, and if you're unlucky you land in Bronze.
What I mean with unlucky is, you don't learn anything in Bronze, as most players don't execute any BO. Just remember that if you land in Brnze, execute your BO, and then: Macro. If you got resources over, just spend them in buildings.
Question: The game option "Only allow friends to send me chat messages", how does it work? Are the players you are currently in a game with included in that, or is it just everyone else?

That only applies to private messages I believe. Messages that are sent during a game itself aren't affected if your opponent is the one that is sending it to you but it should only last for the duration of that game.
As I've seen many times before most of the players attending live tournaments usually tend to have two sets of headphones: one ear buds set and one normal headphones over it. Why's that? Sending a "gg" private message to a player you just beat who left without saying anything IS BM. its ridiculous how some people think they are being polite by doing this. even if you mean good, the best thing you can do after an opponent left without saying gg is to not pm them afterwards, especially if you say "gg". Normal BM is annoying, but this type of BM annoys the hell out of me because most of the people that do it actually think they are being polite when they are doing this. and then when i respond by cursing them out, they act as though they were just being nice, and i am the BM one.

perfect thread for what i have been pondering about. tos/zerg gold level so kinda unfamiliar with Terran mechanics, but the thing thats always surprised me is the mule/supply drop. Already some threads about it, but those focus on the mineral return in early game mostly, mules give faster/more money. I know and understand why Terran needs mule in the early to mid-game. The thing i don't get though is why supply drop isn't used later on.Intuitively if feels like free supply depot might be better later on then getting some minerals a bit faster. Complete terran noob so don't know if the money boost is timed with expo or production increase or some other reason.

why do you ragequit in the first place?
Not GG'ing before leaving isn't ragequitting.
You don't need to use a KSSN. Just buy a taiwanese account. Search for it, theres a guide.

That's what I've always thought too. I always gg and F10N in less than half a second. I guess some people really want to respond with a gg out of etiquette, even if its after the game's over.
People are so angry with this game >.> over losing on ladder, favorite players losing, casters not doing a good job, stream qualities being bad, drama that has nothing to do with the actual game... such negativity >_<

No bro its actually bm. I do the gg post game to bm my opponents.
Does anyone know who this guy is: http://www.sc2ranks.com/kr/950803/토토 ? (It apparently reads "toto".) He plays Protoss and is currently ranked #6 KR GM. What strikes me most is that his winrate is really REALLY high for a Protoss on KR GM ladder (78%, that's insane, it's comparable to what MKP's smurf FoxeR has, and MKP is one of the best ladder players). Usually the best Protoss on KR ladder have like a 60-67% winrate, and the best Terrans have more like 70-80%. And he played a reasonable amount of games as well, it's not really an inflated winrate due to weak first opponents.
Pardon me if my question seems meaningless, I just like to see how rankings evolve on KR ladder, it's fun seeing who is actually a ladder monster, compared to their results offline at the GSL So if you have a guess on whose smurf account it is, please let me know.
How do I stop myself from rage-quitting games and actually type "gg" for once?
I am worried that one day, I am gonna lead myself to a 7 day suspension (final warning) or permanent account closure based on the fact that I already got a 3 day suspension for offensive language about 2 months ago and because of the penalty volcano. I made a post on the EU battle.net forums asking for a feature where you can stop yourself from sending in-game messages and got told to "GTFO" by the horrible community there.
Thing is, I'm normal before I get into a losing situation then I open up with offensive language and insults, blaming anybody but me. Unless the mistake is REALLY obvious to me, I would never, ever, ever, ever GG.
How do I stop this? It doesn't help my raging-tilt problem either when I'm aiming for at least Diamond on EU servers and am basically in the third-shittiest league in the game (Gold) either.
Is there a technique that traditionally BM pros use to suppress this rage?
I know that TL can't do anything about hackers anymore, B.net doesn't take it into consideration. But I think I may of come across a hacker, and I just want to know your thoughts. I also didn't know where to place it if I did make a thread. Note: ~ BM ~ Profanity in Replay

Here's several good suggestions:
1. Shamelessly plugging your own stuff is generally a bad idea in a general discussion thread.
2. Actually make content for your bloody channel before plugging it please. Your only video was literally a one minute video where you opened a replay between HayprO and Babyknight and started muttering about some stuff. Hell, I was expecting at least three mediocre commentary videos when I clicked your link, not a solitary "testing my channel" link.

I was wondering what merchandising MLG will produce this year. I for one would like to buy some collectible cards, action figures and perhaps selling jerseys from the participating teams. Seriously their online store is lacking. I hope sundance notice this!
Hey. I've got a problem witch twitch.tv, chat specifically. The problem is - I can watch streams on teamliquid, but when I go to twitch, or open chat(popup), my browser is lagging/ freezeing for short periods of time (like 20 seconds). I hear a sound constantly, however browser stops working for this time. Also chat never loads up. I'm guessing it's java's fault, but I have no clue how to fix this. Tried updating java, and changing browser. Any ideas?
Does anyone else have a problem with his map vetoes? Recently I have played on maps that I vetoed, I'm 100% sure I vetoed them and after the game I checked the vetoes and the boxes were still checked.
So I vetoed Xel'naga caverns and Arid plateau but every once in a while I get one of these maps. Am I the only one getting this?
Does anyone feel like with the lack of (Foreign) tournaments, MLG specifically, they are becoming more hyped and hyped for this year's MLGs? I know I am, I can't wait to see the foreigners who worked hard in korea (Nani, IdrA, Morrow, Sase, etc) at an MLG!

Totally. NASL is sweet, and I like the IPL too, but MLG throws boss events, and with the bigger prize pool, the new online qualifier set up, and the mini, seasonal championships they are doing this year...
Plus as you said we get to Korean trained foreigners play abunch of good games with top competition (Idra and Sen in the Ro32 group stage doesn't count as good games), yea i'm totally stoked.
My Starcraft II is unplayable. I have 80-90 fps constant with almost all ultra settings, and Fraps shows that it doesn't change much, yet I am constantly skipping frames. Never have this problem with other games or I would say it's my monitor, but it must be a problem with Starcraft II. Doesn't change even when I lower my settings down to low. Does anyone know why it does this?

zerg units are simply weaker supply for supply, so you need more than your opponent. to have more than your opponent you need more bases for quicker income.
Ah, right.. So basically, hatches are cheaper which makes up for the fact you need more income. I wonder why units aren't cheaper to make up for them being weaker instead, but at the same time I don't think the game is unfavorable for zerg so I guess it works out somehow.

It's the core principle of race diversity. Protoss -> Strong, expensive units, few of them (high tech aliens) Zerg -> Weak, inexpensive units, many of them (swarm) Terran -> Versatile, middle expense, middle amount of them (humans as the "all around" race)

Yes, 1000 minerals worth of Zerg units is a lot weaker than 1000 minerals worth of Protoss units. So in order to stay even Zerg needs 1.5k minerals worth of units to compete.

Forty lings will kill eight stalkers, so it can never be a straightforward comparison (and that's 400 gas to boot). Zerg produces out of hatcheries, so they need to continue hatchery production / larva inject to keep up in supply. Because of the creep vision and creep bonus Zerg players can and should expand ahead of their opponents. Do they need to? Probably not actually, if a Zerg player acted like a Terran and nailed some juicy 2-base timing push with roaches/hydras it would probably be fairly good against a Protoss also on 2-base (as long as the timing is while P is teching to colossi).
Alright, so I'm trying to catch up with the Day9 Dailies (never watched them actually D: ), and I'm trying to find the most important Dailies, ie most useful, would be nice if anyone could help me out there.

You can't just isolate units like that though. If I went 1000 into lings then toss would 1000 into zealots and the Protoss would definetly win that engage. Also sentries give the Protoss a better engage and the Zerg worse. This is why roaches have 4 range so that they are more affected by forcefields. Mutas are extremely gas heavy so if u were on equal bases u would most definetly lose. If our units cost less it wouldn't make difference because we would have the same amount of larva, Zerg need the extra income.

no, because only hellion and banshee will allow the terran to mapcontrol until muta. Which will allow him to stop the zerg from taking a free third and spreading creep. hellion allows faster expansion than banshee, so thats mostly the reason for it being alot more ideal. (harrasing the mineral line is not needed at all, forcing spines is always nice.)

A question for zerg players: What fingers do you use for what keys on your keyboard? I've never really payed attention to others and just done it my way but lately I've been feeling it's not really optimal the way I do it. If you can give a brief description of the most common keys that would be great, thanks.

How come professional terran players still keep their medivacs in the same control group as their bio? I mean... It doesn't take that much APM to make them follow your bio units rather than having them in the same control group. It's painful for me to watch a terran stutter step his medivacs in battle, or sending them ahead of the army to get killed.
Is their an advantage to keeping them in the same group as bio that I'm simply not aware of, or should players learn to make them follow instead?
Platinum protoss, inactive for 6 months (played a game every week or two), came back and started with decent success in plat league. Suddenly losing EVERY PvZ (seriously I have lost +15 PvZs in a row) but still doing well against terrans and tosses. Got demoted due to losing to every zerg.

Hi prOs. I'm having a lot of problems adding units quickly to my hotkeys. so... j/w, how do you guys select ur units and add them to ur hotkeys? do you double click? ctrl click them? etc.
My question is why don't more terrans get Ravens against Zerg. with extra gas invested you can get hunterseeker, which kicks ass against zerg since they are all bunched up, as well as it would take care of some of the excess gas midgame

If you already have some units in your hotkey group, hold shift, draw a box over the new units, press Ctrl + (Number where you got your units)
Tried to make a new post, but because of the new member policy. Anyways; just wanted to post this I read about South-Korea's new policy around online gaming:
Korea considers blocking minors from playing online games for over 3 hours by Eric Caoili [Console/PC, Social/Online, Business]
January 27, 2012
South Korea's Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is reportedly reviewing a policy that would ban minors' accounts if they played online games for more than two hours consecutively, or a total of three hours in a day.
While there is already a shutdown law in place preventing children aged under 18 years old from playing online games during a late-night six-hour block, MEST's rationale for the policy is that game addiction comes from how long kids play games, not when they play them.
Critics are arguing that this new policy, along with the existing shutdown law and the recently implemented selective shutdown law, constitutes a "triple regulation" of the game industry in Korea -- and that MEST's theories on game addiction haven't been medically proven.
"If the game industry is really a troublemaker, then the related government [groups] should discuss it and provide guidelines to instruct us," said an unnamed game industry representative, according to a report from Korean industry news site This Is Game.

Can you actually go up to Silver from Rank 5 in Bronze? I'm more frequently playing against Platinum and Silver and I'm slightly favored, which kind of suggests me that I'm pretty close to get promoted (dunno if I am though), but is it possible?

Division rank doesn't matter so yes, you can be promoted soon.
The official added, "Making similar policies from three different ministries does not make any sense at all. The two shutdown systems of the [Ministry of Gender Equality and Family] and the [Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism] should be repealed if MEST's regulation is reasonable."

Yes, when you can "count" the object itself without a unit of measure. You don't need a unit of measure to know there's 5 marines in front of you. You just count them. But do you count gas? If you had a jar of gas in front of you and somebody asked you how much there was, what would you say? You can't "count" it. You would have to measure it.
Would you say you have "many" gas in your car? No, you would say alot of gas, or plenty. Gas itself can't be counted, but only measured, just like any liquid. You can say you have 500 ml of milk, but that doesnt mean you say "many milk". Because the "500" value is attributed to the unit of measure, not to the milk itself... I guess this means there's "many milliliters of milk", but not "many milk". This didn't come out as clear as I wanted it to be, but I think you get it anyway.

kk, thx, I think, I get it.
So, we assume, that the Resources in SC2 are measured. The numbers don't describe fixed, nature given, packages, but man made units in the Starcraft universe. ^^
However, who decided the norm that all three races are using? Zeratul, Raynor and Kerrigan in a mining comission? XD

the seeker missile costs extra gas as well and takes along time of energy collection, also its not really true that the seeker missile does alot of damage against zerg. They might be bunched up but with the exception of lings and banelings you won't do alot of damage as most survive. Seeker Missile works against air units quiet okay, but mutas are good with magic box and then the damage is bad. Also Against low hp units like banelings. The seeker Missile self detonates if the target dies, and there is a chance of detonation right after the shot when you fire it at lings or banelings.
The raven itself is a nice unit against zerg (boosts your macro indirectly), but its an extra unit to control (can't even use it in a medivac group), or you will lose the raven fairly fast. And terrans have a hard time controling their army already. Another reason is that the timings of terran builds are base upon gas, means there is currently no room to throw in 200 gas, or the timings would get delayed.
I personally use the raven in tvz, but i gave up on the seeker missile. And use auto turrets mostly and while the raven builds i get medivac energy, a perfect cloak banshee fake and medivac energy is pretty neat against zerg as runbys are really popular (which means stim alot, so medivacs never reach max in general but often 0).
Just getting the gas earlier and cut off a bit of eco, but after saving 2 scans of creep tumor killing you are far ahead with the raven.
I love to use autofollow to optimize formation and spread out casters in sc2, but most of the time i only see this with thors and hellion being used. But i think its mostly because people box their whole army instead of using groups to move. So far i boosted my army with all 3 races that way. On the other hand i barely tried this one control group stuff and spread out after the battle started.
That being said while the raven is bad in the medivac group (if you even have any). Its good in his own group and following the medivac as its the perfect detection position when attacking and the raven won't fly over the opponent. And if you used its spells and don't need the detection for now its pretty wise to send the raven home, while the opponents mutas are busy.
Something where the commentator explains a basic macro mindset, important scouting timings, etc, and has a good amount of games showing the concepts in practice.
1 raven and 2 banshee opening is really strong against zergs going infestor tech because it lets you control creep spread for so long. As more zergs in korea start using infestor styles more and more, I think the raven might become more common.

You have to do your best I guess they won't hate you if you at least try to do your best. That and try to be like day9 or watch Spanishiwa's videos in his youtube channel he recently uploaded some videos of examining some games.
Is there a place out there (Terran Strategy on Liquipedia doesn't seem as updated as I necessary) that I can peruse all of the up-to-date and best Terran build orders? From all-ins to macro builds. What the top tier Koreans use etc.
Are anyone else familiar with this; If I want to do multiple snipes (or any other ability in the game) by holding the R button and spamming left click, I get of one snipe, and afterward I just select the enemy unit. Is this heard of?

Press R. Hold Shift. Select Units you want to snipe. Holding down the R button won't help, you have to use Shift.

I tried some stuff in a unit tester some minutes ago. Just holding down the R button is actually doable. It's just that you either have to wait a bit after the first snipe before pressing leftclick again, or that you have to hold the button in advance of using the spell.
Edit: This have to do with the keyrepeater not turning on imidiatley
Does anyone know who 껨조녀, the current KR ladder #1 (also Zerg), is? They have an incredible 80-17 record (82%), with 23-2 in their most recent games. The only mentions of the ID I can find on the internet lead to 403'd pages. I was thinking that it might be another DongRaeGu account (as he seems to have abandoned laddering on 동래구프로에쓰 and he hasn't played many ladder games recently on 프링글스), but it's just a guess. The account had only 1 win in Masters last season and was in Gold the season before, so my guess is that it's been given to a pro.
Does anyone know if the new seasons are now on a certain schedule? Like every couple of months or something? or are they still random? Also, will they be adding a few new maps every season for the ladder?
Random thought here. I just played in offline mode to see if there was a noticeable difference in delay compared to when I'm connected to BNET, as I felt there was more delay tonight for some reason. And oh my was shit so fucking responsive. To me, it is like night and day.
Now I haven't played BW too much, and certainly not with LAN mode, but this just felt so much better with almost zero delay in responsiveness.
I am noob(terran gold) I have a lot of problem defending my 3rd & 4th bases especially when opponent have large group of mutas. cz of this I can not attack and all the time defending my bases & later lose to a big army of bls, infes & ultras. I can not also use med cz of mutas. I have lost almost all the games in which opp have large group of mutas. Pls reply
What do you guys think of this as a map idea: Map name: Awkward So its an 8 player game on a FFA melee map, except each player is LOCKED on to share vision and ally with the player's 2 direct neighbours. Every one else is an enemy. However, the catch is, when a player is eliminated, the players next to the former player now become allied and shared vision. The last 3 people standing win. The name awkward occured to me, as that's exactly what it is when your 2 neighbours are fighting each other. On top of your own army.
Does anyone have replays or a guide (not coL.rsvp's guide) to beating mass Mutalisks? Cannons are useless, storms don't stack (so leaving more than one HT is pointless because they all get sniped before the first storm finishes), Stalkers are too slow, mass phoenix is a one-trick pony that won't win you the game...assistance required!
Does anyone feel like BLs morph too long? If you moprh them in back its another minute to fly them anywhere they should have been minute ago and if you morph them in not as safe position you risk them beeing picked off and that basically losses you the game; its basically 20 ''dead'' supply and ton of resources for 34s. I feel it might be worth to consider lowering it to like 25ish.
I'm asking this here because the Brood War thread doesn't have a general discussion, but there was a thread talking about the various records held in Starcraft: Brood War competition, and I was wondering if you all can give me a link to it.
These were some of the records:
Most kills by a single unit: (it was reaver) Highest ELO rating Longest time at #1 ELO rating Longest time at #1 Protoss ELO rating Longest time at #1 Terran ELO rating Longest time at #1 Zerg ELO rating Longest consecutive streak at #1 ELO rating.
RAVEN SEEKER MISSLE IS USELES, range 6 is a joke, hopefully blizzard change things bigtime for the raven in hots. for the last "terran spellcaster" this unit is so boring and shitty , only useful in tvt (1-2), thats it

I started sc2 first time ever yesterday so yes, I'm horrible. I got placed into bronze league @ ~69. I lost my first 5 matches, and then won my next 4 in a row6. My question is, while I'm on the bottom of the entire ladder system, is there any negative affects to losing a ton of matches? I mean, will I ever bury myself in a hole of terrible MMR that will be near-impossible to come out of? I like to practice in real games since I feel it will help me in the long run.
No, the system will always match you with people you 'should' beat 50% of the time. If there's no-one online that fits those parameters you will be given a harder opponent but be given more points for beating them. Just have fun and remember even when you get to higher leagues, ladder rank means nothing.

Hey, thanks for answering me. I was curious why this popular sentiment exists that ladder rank means nothing. I gather people say this because of the multiple divisions that rank 5 in league A doesn't mean rank 10 in league B is worse? If this is the case, how do 3rd party trackers distinguish among the top players for each region? Sure there's following for the grand masters, but what about the rest of us that reside @gold-diamond range?

How much range do you expect a 100 damage splash attack to receive?
Here's a fun TvZ trick.
Cloak a Banshee, and cast 2 Seeker missiles on it. Fly said cloaked Banshee into the center of a flock of Mutas, laugh while they all blow up without him receiving an "under attack" warning until it's all over.
working up from silver people tended to rage when they lost, which I get - and its hard to feel offended when you have just beaten them... but now I have started playing diamond I have had a spat of abuse from like 1 in 5 players, and worst of all its always when they beat me. Its sick that people feel the need to insult and attack people when they feel happy about winning.
its just sad because keeping positive is so important when laddering that I am gonna have to consider turning of all chat - which sucks cos i have met some great people (although unfourtunutly a minority).
obviously there is nothing to be done, but damn its happened so regulary in the last couple of weeks I needed to vent.
I am 26, married and I am getting bullied my some 14 year old kids on a computer game - and worst of all - it actually gets to me! :p
