Ya, so I'm not in the business of announcing announcements and all that other hype stuff. I'm releasing an announcement, effective immediately . <3
Golden & Stalife to LighT !
Today is a really happy day for the team LighT Family. First off, I want to re-welcome an old friend back to the family. Sung Min “Stalife” Park joined LighT in 2007 as one of the most underrated NA players. He is one of the very few players outside of Korea to reach A rank on ICCUP, and was known for his very micro-oriented style of Protoss. In Starcraft 2, Stalife was most recently known for being on compLexity’s roster, performing admirably in both IPL 1 and 2. Stalife was dropped from the team as he went inactive to focus on his studies, his girlfriend, and his job.
We happily welcome Stalife back to the family! While we may not see him playing full time, he is a great asset to the team and more importantly, a good friend.
Next, I’d like to announce the addition of Myung Hwan “Golden” Cho to the roster. I first learned of Golden several months ago, when he and KawaiiRice briefly acted as practice partners on the Korean server. His skill is impressive, and his time in the Slayers house has instilled in him a winning mentality and strong work ethic. When he announced he was leaving Slayers, I immediately knew that he was a player I would love to have on the team. His mindset and attitude are a perfect with the rest of the players, so I reached out to him to make an offer.
After speaking with him extensively, everything I thought I knew about Golden and his character were confirmed. So with that, we came to an agreement and I am overjoyed to announced that GoldenLighT will be the newest member of the family! Golden will be representing the team full time, in clan wars, LAN events, and in practice with the rest of the team. Already, I am confident that he will get along great with the rest of the team and will be happy to join the family! In fact, you can expect Golden at the first MLG event this year in Columbus, Ohio!
Here is a statement from our new Zerg player, Golden:
""It is an honor to join such a respectable team. As of today, I will not only be able to participate in Korean events such as GSL, but also in a wide range of foreign competitions. I believe my new teammates will offer a lot of support, and I will try to contribute a lot to the progression of our team.
And to the fans: A lot of netizens have speculated that I have pursued the foreign scene for financial reasons, but that is not true. I have made my decision, not due to the money, but due to my aspirations in wanting to realize my dreams as a gamer. I've always only been able to see my fans support me on screen, but I would like to see your support in person on stage too. See you hipsters at the event locations!
Welcome Golden to the family!! Also, I would like to give a huge shoutout to @dearyuna for her amazing help translating for us!
Did Golden just call me a hipster? haha! Wow great pick up, looking forward to seeing your team colors at MLGs. P.S. The collar on that fOu jacket is really crazy O.o
Did not expect Golden, was looking more at Spades/Axslav. Well good luck to Golden, I know he has a passion for the foreigner scene, so I hope he enjoys himself.
admin can feel free to change the thread title to something more appropriate. my troll has ended (this thread is srs btw, welcome Golden & Stalife!!) <3
For a second, I though Light had gone to SC2 haha.
Anyways, congrats to Team LighT for these pickups! Stalife particularly caught my eye in NASL season 1, and I am looking forward to how he will perform in the future.
And Golden is the man, especially with his touching goodbye letter to SlayerS. He is certainly one sincere, dedicated player.
Golden from SlayerS -> LighT is a huge down grade imo...
Disagree with you. For a Korean player who has not been active within the Korean competitive scene, this will be a good entry point. Xeris also does a great job with team management, so I see bright lights for the future ^^
Best of luck to them. Any decent Korean going to foreign events has a shot at doing fairly well so I wouldn't be surprised to see Golden place OK in some upcoming tournaments.

Gz to LighT. They just got upgraded from a Vespa two-wheeler to a Hyundai car! rofl
Being the best player on an average team is better than being average on the best team.

Is there a Korean word for hipster? Or was it more of a "closest translation would be hipster" kind of thing? I wanna know!
Golden calls all his fans hipsters. If I remember the story correctly, when he first started streaming, he didn't have a ton of fans, so someone in chat was saying that they were hipsters for watching Golden before he was popular. Golden liked the sound of that and started calling all his fans hipsters.
let me get this straight. Golden left SlayerS to join LighT? does this not sound fkd up to anyone else? sure he gets to play at a mlg but how long can light keep this up for with the few sponsors LighT has. LighT's only sponsors from waht I can see are tT esports and 6pool gaming.(sorry if this is wrong.) i have a feeling somethign fishy is going on here lol.
*fingers crossed that he didn't get raped over the language barrier

Sorry, but I do my job well so no he didn't get raped over the language barrier, thanks LighT will offer more opportunities for Golden to grow as a player. Xeris does his job well too in ensuring that. I am a big big fan of Golden; I would never have gone through translating for him if I didn't find it suitable.

? From my understanding, Golden left Slayers because he wants to be more involved in the foreign scene as he stated on twitter. LighT was one of the teams that contacted him and he decided to join after talking with them. How is that an issue at all? It's his own choice to move teams so we as fans should respect his decision.

I'm assuming that, with a translator present, nothing was lost in translation. It's also pretty presumptuous of you to talk about what the financial situation of my team is without knowing. Perhaps Tt eSports gave me a million dollars in a sponsorship deal, or maybe I'm a millionaire!
On January 21 2012 17:02 EtherealDeath wrote: Why does everyone on LighT have such a punny combo name?
KawaiiLighT HeavensLighT GoldenLighT
Wtf man, I've got no chance. Just imagine how damn shitty aPsLighT would sound. You know, I think punniness is a pre-req for joining o.o.
Therefore I can conclude that Killer will be joining LighT soon, but HuK will never join LighT.
I can also conclude that Stalife will rename to LighTSteak.
Tbh, the only reason I re-made LighT was because of the hilarious options for naming.
Great choice. You need to recruit Flash. FlashLighT would be the greatest bonjwa the world has ever seen, until his robo batteries run out (hand cranked alternative perhaps?)
Haha, without getting into too much details, I was helping act as an 'agent' of sorts and was able to help Golden be informed on the foreigner teams he was in talks with and the managers behind them. He speaks very little to no english at all, but he kept calling me "hipster" like "Thank you hipster" "Hi hipster" hahaha, he's a really genuinely nice guy.
People who say that Golden was taken advantage of into joining a newer/upstart team like Light would have to be completely ignorant of the situation. He got deals from several teams, and Xeris has always been loyal to his players and his teams. People can make jokes about him stealing chairs and what have you but think about it, and you will realize that he has always ran his teams with all his effort and players who have played under him have said nothing but kind words towards his work ethic and ability to coordinate and run his teams.
In terms of Golden himself, the kid is still quite young (17) and he did not take this deal purely for the money. He asked me and his translator that travel to events and the ability to get out and see the world was more important to him than any dollar amount. He even turned away some money, asking for less in order to just have security and peace of mind. He wants to be able to focus on playing and succeeding in tournaments, while having the ability to not worry about managing himself, and have the ability to be taken care of for events.
my first instinct hopes that Light can live up to his expectations in giving him the invites to "foreign" (meaning invite tourneys) that he seemed to hope for in his goodbye letter to slayers...

I don't know most of the other but this is a great them thus far and I think it's safe to say that they're a high-caliber team, probably not the best, but they're up there.
Gogo LighT. KR is an incredible player as well and they have some real up and coming talent to be seen in the near future. Keep up the good work over there! With Duran and KR at the helm, I can only see this team becoming one of the top teams in Sc2.
Very nice pickups. Can't wait to see them play under the Light banner. I'm starting to really like this team. I'm already a big fan of KawaiiRice and this just makes it a whole lot better!

What do you mean they're not the best? Kawaii and Binski top2 NA terran, Golden is a great korean zerg, and PicNic is just a cool dude. I think that their collective skill level is above that of other NA teams.

You think this team is good because they have 2 players on top of the NA ladder ?? Lol golden is great but his not that great just because they picked up two players don't mean that there a number one contending team all of a sudden.. I wouldn't even put this team on top 10 in the world

so much truth in these words... anyways, hopefully these two additions will make LighT more competitive with the other prominent teams out there. I know that it is a relatively young team, however their roster feature many veterans on the competitive scene, can't help but feel a bit disappointed to see such a sympathic team perform like they did in both of the TAC qualifiers.

we were more focused on NASTL qualifiers both times since NASTL day1 was the day before IPLTAC, and we got into day2 both times.. so we had to juggle two clan wars both times >_>! we did reach semis of NASTL twice though so its ok~~.. sort of..
Wow really cool congrats. Makes sense because I believe Stalife is apart of that whole UBC SC2 area thing around seattle. Thank god he is back to Stalife and not Steak. Lets just not remember that -_-;;
Xeris,
Can you make binski stream everyday when he moves into the gaming house? <3<3<3<3

Oh, okay, nvm. I totally forgot those qualifiers. Guess the team didn't perform that bad overall, I was just misinformed.
Great to hear, although I wish he wouldn't say "it's not for the money". Come on dude, it's a least a LITTLE for the money, but why does that even matter? If you're paid more, it's because you've earned it!

Awesome signs, and thank you for not making an obnoxious "We're announcing shit: here's a lot of cryptic bullshit concerning it"
I'm not sure of the prices from Korea-Seattle/Vancouver area however I know it's extremely heavily populated with Asians. I'd have to image that there's a lot of flights from that area to Japan/Korea.
If there's any foreigner team that would be best for a Korean pro game to join right now its LighT. Gaming house with many other Korean speaking Asians. Will make it a solid transition for Golden.
I liked golden but then he went mainstream so I can't approve of him. Jokes, I love golden and hope that light can get into more team tournaments so I can see him slay teams of nerds some more.

Try and get the website up asap plz. or update the liquipedia with what team leagues/clan wars you'll be in. I'm actually pretty interested in following/ rooting for this team.

Website was supposed to be up three weeks ago but we had technical difficulties or something constantly? It was supposed to be finished today as well but uh... nope... Our manager Ursadon has all the results and stuff documented though !

I worked for 3 months to have it ready Jan 1st.... but
so where is dragon gonna go? also NOT AXSLAV??? PICK HIM UP, I'll love you forever <3333. but seriously, i think Light is shaping up to be a real contender
I don't follow SC2 and know next to nothing about most players. However, I know this about sungmin. He is a handsome man and has a super cute girl friend. Also, he may be one of the very nicest people to have ever graced battle.net.
Nice, Stalife will be great maybe as a practice partner and/or part coach since he is kind of inactive? I think this is going to be great and hopefully more players of goldens caliber hop on board

Seems kind of weird to pick up a foreigner whose not even playing fulltime and is therefore unlikely to do anything of note at the same time you pick up a former slayers' korean.
I played Stalife today on his trek with his new name through Diamond league. I lasted 9 minutes before he continued on his 20-0 rampage. For the record, 20-0 on a new account puts you at rank 3 masters.
It's a shame to see that so many esports teams doesn't even have a proper website. Regardless, congratulations, I wonder if you will be the new quantic.

Team LighT is an old team from Brood War. It's hasn't been a huge powerhouse, but it has been known for a while now in the older scene. It just got back together for SC2, though.
The new Team Light is really shaping up to be a serious contender, I didn't expect that would happen so soon. Will be interesting to see whether these guys can deliver.
