I hope this isnt the answer that ends up happening. I want MORE tournaments, not less. Unfortunately it requires MORE player responsibility and scheduling skills.

So Stephano played in the SCAN invitational and couldn't finish ONOG because of it. I think the players have to choose at some point on which tournament they want to focus. I don't think it's fair to other players and tournament organizers if you play in multiple tournaments and cause delays in them. Maybe rules need to be introduced that if someone reaches the semi-finals of a tournament he is not allowed to play in another or something along those lines.
This stuff also happens in daily/weekly cups where nobody cares but it's still annoying.

yea, stupid idiot organizers. We should teach them a lesson about trying to give us content, fucking assholes. While we're at it, I think MLG are asshats too, they totally screwed up the streams more than once.

not seeing the big deal. Pros got a lot on their plate. SC2 games are not a certain time limit so unfortuantely this one ran past what he knew he could do and he stated what he felt needed to happen. The tourny inturn did what they felt was right. Neither party seems to be remotely upset of the situation its buisness and we all move on. in fact most won't even remember this next week

well,
I believe in France, they have 35 working-hours law?
|
Stephano has the right to forfeit. Getting moved to 4th place was justifiable. Fans still got to see a good finals. Nothing really to debate or hate on imo.
|
I for one actually see this as a "good problem." There are essentially too many good tournaments going on at once - keep on with the content!

Only in ESPORTS could you punish the participants for not wanting to stay up to 2.30 - 4.00 am to play their matches

IT WILL BE TOP NEWS ON TL! This link in the top left hand side, will probably be there for 3 days. Its that big a deal! Its up there with MLG dates, MLG player lists, guy joining new teams..... Stephano's tired and can't play..... alert the media! Release the hounds! need to make sure all the tournament organizers know so that they won't invite him to future, invite-only tournaments. thanks tl.net for making this happen!! Tournament organizers will still invite him regardless what happened here. They will take into consideration that this happened but they will definitely still invite him. Stephano is just that much better than most people outside Korea,,,he attracts Viewers just like Dimaga, Idra, White-ra, Kas or Huk. ONOG had 12k+ Viewers if Stephano and Kas weren't there it would be like 6k viewers maybe tops and if MrBitter wasnt there the viewer count would decrease with maybe 1 more K. Stephano was wrong but in a way he was also right same goes for the organizers decision. Now lets talk about the real disappointment called Tyler he just Rage quit the tournament because he got owned in the first series.... So because people are good, they can do whatever they want? Well, then you won't have big tours with price-money in the future. Imagine football and every time 1 or 2 clubs decide to just leave during a tournament or a season. Bicycle racing was at some point big too and then all the doping shit happened and now it's kinda dead. Acting like an idiot (IdrA) is ok, because some sponsors like to sponsor a "bad boy" it's some kind of image but screwing a whole tournament is just stupid and no sponsor wants to see his players doing that. Every sponsor will decide 2 times before sponsoring a sc2 tournament when he has to fear that childish players will screw things up. Maybe they will use the money for some google ads and be on the save side. You're getting some things mixed up. Idra gets away with a lot because he's popular. He's popular because he's good at the game and because he's irreverent. With this latest incident, Stephano is now more popular than ever - add to that fact that he's even more talanted and irreverant than Idra mean that Stephano has the same makings of a superstar. This thread has pretty much proven that people will pay attention to Stephano regardless whether they like his attutude or not. Actually no. They will now pay attention because of his attitude. I'd be pretty happy right now if I were Millenium.
the thing is, teams exist because of sponsors and sponsors sponsor them because of tournaments which have money prices which someone again has to sponsor. do you want to sponsor a tournament which could end like this? maybe you could have some extra viewers, but if you have a serious business running it will just harm your image (because obviously you arent even able to run a tournament or sponsor bad managed tours). viewers are nice, but at the end of the day you want to sell your products and to improve your image.

Apparently Stephano asked for a delay and then didn't show up. If you ask for a delay you know it's going to be later than usual.

So players are not responsible for their own scheduling?

Stephano isn't wrong and the organization isn't wrong. People are too critical and always want to label someone as a bad guy o_O Stephano doesn't have to play if he can't but the organization can also penalize him for that because stephano should have played the match

whats wrong with postpone the final? I pretty sure it already happened in other tourneys.
"we have to be an organization that puts the fans first" I'm fan, so I would watch the finals any other day =)
organization should think about the players too...

Since everyone complaining about this thread why not give my opinion:
Stephano was a fan favorite in the torny, he knowing this was the worse part of this. The tournament was supposed to be NORTH AMERICAN server only tournament, but according to the players : "Stephano said he would forfeit and not play his games against Violet unless it was alternating games" Admins were like well it cant be that bad so swap games every other time (They did not do this for Sase Vs Cats) so the results could of been completely altered in hindsight.
Stephano was like k now since im a fan favorite ill delay the tournament for a different tournament, even though this was casted live and he still thought it was smart to play through SCAN, which caused a big delay in the whole scene... Again admins were like "I guess" i mean they were not going to be DQ(which i think should be the right choice in this situation, but again I did not run it) and he beat illusion and has the audacity to be "Im to tired to play. Gg" WTF...
-Why this thread is fine, it should be aware that when a player doing so manythings wrong and then gets his panties in a knot when people hate on him is stupid... He is playing for only 1 year till he goes back to school so he will so forgotten
All in all its OGON fault for letting him threw pass violet, with that they should of regamed Catz/SaSe
Stephano acts like he is better then every one else and doesn't deserve the even half of the fans that he has, he signed into the torny so he should of played out the games even if they sucked.
Simple resolution for DQs is to make a player locked in with a contract that players must sign saying if they don't play they should get 0 prize money along with paying the company X dollars.

make thousands of people wait for a scheduled tournament, or make stephano play for a SCHEDULED tournament.... is that even a debate?

only in ESPORTS where some fans believe tournaments are expected to bend over to players and reschedule a finals match because he is oh so tired.
I don`t mind forfeits, but to expect the tournament to move to another day just because one player is tired? Ridiculous if people want to think ESPORTS is legit. Whatever happened to preparation, planning and conditioning? It is not like it was something that couldn`t be avoided by the player.
