a big part of it is that we've been led to believe that HOTs is coming out 'soon'.
therefore ppl are thinking "well wtf is the point playing now... might as well just watch some vods and wait for it".
i know that's what i'm thinking at least.
i'm also kind of thinking that zerg is too easy compared to terran at my level... and something like 9 out of 10 matches seem to be against zerg. that's why i play 4-5 1v1 games and then decide to call it quits for a week.
It is very stressful to play random matchup and random map, having to be proficient in at least 3 matchups and 5 maps without being able to focus practice, unless you happen to know someone around your level who wants the same and is available at the same times.
Compare that with BW/ICCup ladder where you play whatever you please, and still it's a much better representation of skill.
I used to have ladder fear until I realized it was just a game and ladder doesn't really matter, it's just for fun. You see the pro's ladder and they'll try out something new, if it doesn't work and they lose they don't care they just exit the game and started a new one. That's the mentality I applied and laddered more after that.
But I do agree the ladder system isn't optimal right now, but not much you can do about that so just try to enjoy it.
As for the cheese, they are viable strategies and if you lose to one, watch the replay and learn to counter it, that's the reason a lot of pros don't cheese because they know there opponent can easily counter it. Just got to be more aware (scout lots) and have a solid defense!
That's all my wisdom, my thoughts on ladder just try to enjoy it and if you lose no big deal!
5-10 zvzs in a row makes me sick. I usually stop for a week if that happens. They have to fix that crap, put a cap or something. Id rather wait an extra 30 seconds than to face another zvzs.

I can continue, but there is no point, they have shown no intention in making battle.net a place that you can do anything else other than pressing "Find match" and then using 3rd party programs for statistics. So people like me who wanna play maybe 20 games a day are gonna play a lot less, because there is nothing to keep us continuing to play after a long series of pvp's or just nothing happening, just staying at one place, no way to guess after this 20 games, did I improve or not? Did my MMR jump high or not? Of course I'm not able to understand that, because of bonus pool. Well done.
1. Too many maps means you can never get good in any map=you lower skill ceiling. 4-5 is the key number it seems to be good. 2. If you wanna socialice, go to facebook. 3. sc2gears 4. Omg, thats just primitive way of thinking, ist the same way of thinking, i wont put seatbelt on, because i know i wont crash. *facepalm*. You have chance to play 1000 pvp in a row, just think that way= the more you play same mu in a row, the better you get at it relative to playing different machups same amount of games. 5. Divisions are not indication of skill, but progress (day9). Like its in EVERY SINGLE GAME, if you wanna know how good you are, you join tournaments. 6. Same as nr 5.
Sriously thou, battlenet ladder works perfectly. I cant understand the whining at all, you feel just a person who is tired from work, or dumped by girlfriend and needs unreasonable way to release hes/her anger. Starcraft 2 is rts, all you brought up, has nothing to do with the GAME (well first one does a bit).
Clearly, he doesn't think it works perfectly. It's great that you think it's an excellent system but a lot of people do not think that, whether it's interface, or matchmaking, or social stuff. Plus the existence of SC2Gears/Facebook does not excuse BNet 2.0 from not living up to expectations. It's like selling a substandard/incomplete product.
I personally don't mind BNet 2.0 that much but you have to be receptive of other viewpoints. In the end it's a game and it's about having fun (job for a select few), and Blizzard isn't doing as good a job as they could be if some/many players are losing enjoyment because of flaws in their product.
I guess they shoudl add lvls, and new weapons for marines as you lvl up. headshots give extra points, etc, alot of numbers as you lvl, so people get addicted in it (like LoL HoN Dota2 BF3 MW3, like every game with lvling systems, point earning systems). Then it will be perfect nyahahahaaa.
Thou on your point, i sayd Ladder, not bnet 2.0, bnet 2.0 at first was worse then BW battlenet, wich is an amazing achivement. I honestly dont understand why people want bnet to do everything. ALlmost sounds liek they shoudl make Blizzard explorer for internet browsing etc etc. Just dont get it, you can chat, form custom games etc etc.

I think most people just want a bnet that is as good as their previous version of bnet (for wc3) was. But wc3 actually have alot of great funcionality that isn't even present in 2.0.
I don't latter as much because when in season one I was a bronze noob who had not played SC before, so I had a lot of room to improve, and progress was pretty visible when I started getting builds and general game knowledge. Now that I'm higher league, improvement is much harder to come across and I don't have that "OMG I'm on a 15 game win streak must keep playing!" motivation anymore. Also Gears of War 3 is pretty damn fun.

But back when I played starcraft, then broodwar then wc3 it wasn't for me. Then it was in the actual bnet interface. But now it's here on tl. That says alot about the state of battlenet 2.0 I think.

Exactly, I mean people are just dismissing the 'lonely experience' of ladder as whining, I had great fun grinding in WC3, returning to chat channels when searching games, chatting and stuff. Just doesn't seem comparable in SC2
A lot of people enjoy watching more than playing because of ladder fear. Unranked ladder would solve many of SC2 problems.
Also, sc2ranks only records 1v1 ladder and most players from masters up play a lot of custom games. For example: NA mid/top masters is infested with zerg players atm so I many decide to stop playing ladder and get a practice partner to either practice their zvz or the other two matchups they don´t get. Also take into account school and this is a shorter season.

LOL what ? stop trolling around. crowd at tournaments are sick , bracraft's , show's aboth SC2 etc etc And you are now at community site , you dont know that ? Show me other site , bigger then TL for any other game then BW/SC2 .. im waiting.
And on topic i think ppl now prefere to play more custom games to practice , there are manu much onlnie mid/low skill tournaments that ppl play. Imo custom games are stil lbetter to take your skill up , then ladder. Now days ladder is full of chesses and allin's . I play much less macro games now , then 2-3 moths ago dunno why.. 80% games that i play my opponent make 2 base allin , or some one base chesse..
i personally dont play 1v1 anymore for the following short list of reasons: -map pool is awful -i dont like the patches -i have to play a minimum of 5 ladder games per day to stay in shape, otherwise i get smashed by kids in school who obviously have more time than me to practice = no fun

Feel free to take a look at this 55-page (!) thread where we're discussing the lack of community features in SC2, because that's what he's talking about.

When was the last time you played? Because we are in serious need of more Terran players. I would hope that the old Idra influenced anti-Terran bm is far less now than it used to be.

Really? In no other game does winning give me such satisfaction as in the starcraft 2. On the other hand, a few losses in a row and it feels like I got mentally kicked in my balls.
They should introdcuce a not-so-grandmaster league, so all the master players that aren't top notch (can't read grandmaster) have another reason to ladder :D
