I don't think MLG depends on it though or they'd pay for it being sponsored even if they don't like it.

Wonder how badly this MLG will do financially. You NEED fan support... can't just do whatever you want and piss off your own crowd.

It would also increase the shitstorm even more. "Oh look, TL says there is an MLG event going on!" *click* "WTFBBQ, there is nothing to see unless I pay 20$? RARARARRRARRRAAA!!!" But that's just a guessing game. I think the PPV thing is something someone would try eventually, so why not MLG with their winter arena. It's an experiment and I am very curious to see how it plays out. We all will learn a lot from this, one way or another.

On SOTG they said they expect 10% of the regular MLG audience to buy, that their sales are tracking well ahead of what they expected, and that they aren't judging this financially so much as their ability to put on $20 worth of show. If it goes badly they are prepared to lower it to $10 or less next time. I was like "No I'm not buying this" for about 5 days and then I spent $50 on Gold and that so I think many people will buy at the last minute despite their feelings.

We declined to be a part of the referral program for the reasons we stated, and they did not feel we should charge anything for the calendar entry. TL, you should have told them that they will help ESPORTS by paying you xD This is so good, hahaha. The paradox is too strong, my brain is starting to melt.

Personally, this doesn't affect me much since I'm hardcore enough to find the information elsewhere, but I find this a real shame for the more casual fans that get deprived of such a useful ressource.

People use TL as the hub for their SC news, streams and events because there is no other website quite as comprehensive. Isnt this exactly what TL Commandment #1 is all about? Liquid's house, Liquid's rules, and the community base consists of people who accept this, so of course it is up to TL to decide things. Who else? From the comments in this thread it seems as if most of the community LIKES this decision so I think TL got it right in every way. Since TL is not a "for profit" enterprise it seems reasonable to make some distinction between free-ish events and ppv links, and there is SO much info still about the MLG winter arena. I dont hate MLG for trying the 20$ ppv, and as a gold member I am still undecided if I want to pay the $15. I suspect for me it will come down to whether I have enough to do over the weekend or not, and if Finland can keep me entertained. (Woohoo, first post from an utter bronze n00b aiming to become a silver or gold n00b some day. I consider myself to be a pillar of this society, making the rest of you look good AND watching your games/streams and even paying for it on occasion.)

Yes some of this 76% are kids , that dont have this money and they vote "its bad etc" but how much ? max 20% ( but ppl without money are still part of the community , are they ? ) Others peaople just dont like this idea...
