I guess now it becomes more obvious that usage of TL is a privilege, not a right.

I wasn't being sarcastic.....but after looking at the situation more fully. I don't agree with not listing the tournament in the "upcoming events" section. It's one thing not to embed the paid stream here (I agree 100% with that), it's another to pretend that it's not happening. TL has been my source for everything Starcraft, especially event information. I know this is just one event, but if TL starts omitting events from the calendar based on whatever reason, it will have lost one of the features that I really like. I'd rather not have to find another site for the calendar function, I love having everything here at TL my one stop SC shop.

As I understood, the AoL was first PPV, and not listed, but then at some point changed to free, at which point it got added to the calender. i distinctly remember clicking on a link from the sidebar and seeing that it was PPV :p

They are not turning their backs on anyone, streams with no FTV option don't go on the site calendar unless the advertisement fee is paid, it's that simple.

If MLG doesn't want to pay when the premise of the event is PPV only then not only should the streams not be available on TL, but they shouldn't be in the calendar either. Doesn't mean there cannot be a LR thread and discussion about it. It's the right thing to do.

Because that's not why TL is doing this Already answered this earlier in the thread, but I'll quote myself instead of just repeating it. I personally thanked them for taking the time to come up with a policy that directly means it's more likely that as time goes on TL will stay as a great resource site for Starcraft without becoming overburdened with advertisements, especially while not benefitting from them. It was a well thought out policy which was well communicated to us and thus, thanks were in order.

If MLG Arena is listed in the same manner on the calendar as, say, a Dreamhack event, it's no more an "ad" for the former than it is for the latter. It's "giving information to your users" that the event is going on, as you said. An ad is a banner, a sponsored thread, etc. A listing on a calendar is just information. That's what calendars are for. I'm so happy to finally see someone else that realizes how bad of a decision TL is making! Props to you for wording it all in such a clear and flawless manner. Too bad there still seems to be a lot of people letting their frustration about the PPV model get in the way of their critical thinking. Free streams still get revenues through advertisements by the way. So listing them and not a PPV-only event is pretty hypocritical. You think the other tournaments are not trying to make profit as well? this is just silly.

In my personal opinion the new MLG PPV system is really against the general basic idea of esport, free entertainment for everybody. Even the price for only 3 days is waaay to much and seems very greedy for me. So dont support that system! We are the Viewers! We have the Power! Dont support MLG PPV! DONT PAY!

This is going to be the biggest weekend ever, I'm missing it not because of money, but because I think it stands against what eSports should be. I was planning on purchasing this product along with my gold membership, EVEN THOUGH I still feel upset that this doesnt come with MLG gold subscription, but finding out that PPV only, I feel it against my best interest to support the organization anymore... Good games or not.
