RAZER AND TEAM MVP FIGHTING!
Elite Korean StarCraft II team joins the ranks of Team Razer!
Carlsbad, Calif. – 2nd March, 2012 – Razer™, one of the world’s pioneering supporters of e-Sports, and Team MVP, Korean powerhouse e-Sports organization, will be joining forces to further and strengthen Korean pro-gaming and ensure further financial assistance for their players to attend international events.
Razer’s decision to support another top Korean pro-gaming organization is a move to reinforce and extend support for e-Sports in the region as well as on an international level whereby players from Team MVP will see increased support for international tournaments - such as GSTL Finals in Las Vegas - allowing them a greater chance to experience and win foreign StarCraft II events.
Recognized officially as a Korean pro-gaming organization in late 2010, Team MVP placed first in the Global StarCraft II Team League Season 1 in 2011 to cement themselves as one of Korea’s finest StarCraft II teams. MVP’s roster includes some of the world’s best known players, including Code S finalists team captain, Zerg mastermind and Code S regular Park “DongRaeGu” Soo Ho and 2010 Blizzcon victor and Protoss player Jung “Genius” Min Soo, both of whom will contribute heavily to the creation and development of new Razer peripherals.
“It’s an honor to work alongside arguably one of the best StarCraft II organizations in the world,” said Robert “RazerGuy” Krakoff, President, Razer USA. “Korea is in many ways the heart of e-Sports for StarCraft II and supporting such a distinguished team allows both of us to grow, develop and reinforce our support for this community on many levels”.
"We are pleased to be supported by the number one gaming gear company, Razer," said Yun-sang Choi, Head-Coach and Owner, MVP TEAM. "The MVP players and I appreciate Razer’s passion for e-Sports as a whole and we will try to show good and interesting games for StarCraft 2 fans in the world. We look forward to a strong and positive future between Razer and MVP from this point forward.”

Congrats to MVP!!! Nice move by Razor!

I have to love Razer for all they do, which is why I buy their products. Mvp is a great team as well, so they made a good decision. I can't wait to see Keen bounce back and destroy everyone.
|
Wait, so what does this mean? Will MVP players now use a Razer tag? Will Razer be sponsoring MVP players going to international events? What's this mean for the coL-MVP partnership?
|
Razer almost sponsoring every sc2 team :O
where is steelseries?

Ah you are correct with oGs ^^

Wished Zenex got this.

sigh i kinda wish sponsors meant more these days. We know nothing of these sponsorship's today anymore. This could be something as dumb as free gear for all players and 50 dollars a month for MVP to say razer is one of their sponsors. Just seems like anyone can get a sponsor from steelseries or razer but the circumstances aren't specified. I know some teams that say ttesports sponsors them when all they get is just like 6 full sets of gear O_o wouldn't really call that a sponsorship more like a donation for these companies.
|
That's great! Congrats to team MVP!

Are you serious? Lol, SteelSeries is a gaming peripherals sponsor, their key is ROI it doesn't have to be just from one game (SC2), and even IF IT WERE, they have the EG SK Fnatic Na'Vi and chinese team Tyloo, those are pretty much miles away the largest organizations in their respective areas (Russia, Europe, China, NA).

Well I mean list the options, either Razer says thats fine for creative to compete with us (doubt it, they sponsor enough big teams to not care if col isn't one of them) AND creative does the same. Or their partnership may continue with or without the cosponsorship, or they act more separately, or it splits.

The exact details of all our sponsorships are confidential for various reasons.
We're hinting towards the kind of support we're delivering however:
"ensure further financial assistance for their players to attend international events."
50 USD is not going to do that.

wooo gogo team MVP and razer Now if only my razer products would stop screwing up on me Like my blackwidow randomly hitting N twice when I hit it only once, and my deathadders mouse wheel going both up and down whenever i scroll in 1 direction lol.

But why would you look at just one game instead of the scope of what they're doing. There is no point questioning their body of work because it is successful, just because it might not encompass one game more than Razer does lol.

Pretty clever word play in the title of this thread. I gotta admit that I was lured in by taking the literal meaning of the word fighting.
|
Razer is so amazing, sponsoring so many teams ! Their rival SteelSeries is doing a good job at that to =)
|
MVP certainly deserves it, such an outstanding team doing so great lol. MVP fighting ^^
|
Teams NEED sponsors. Plain and simple. You say you want to support E-sports? Then stop trash talking about a company that's going out of their way to sponsor teams. They don't have to sponsor teams to make money, the sooner you people that rip on sponsors realize this, the better.
If a company gets flack for sponsoring a team do you really think it would be in their best interest to do so? No.
Congrats to MVP, they deserve it and a big thanks to Razer for supporting such a great team.

Why can't Razor have their own team. I believe they had before.

I got a question about RAZER sponsorship.. might be a stupid question but i have seen RAZER sponsor alot of teams and individuals but what does the teams and individuals recieve? Computer parts and accessories?

They directly sponsor the fighting game player Latif. Also usually the sponsorship is a hardware sponsorship so headphones keyboard mice micepad earbuds, and then after that the sponsorship can sometimes include salary, travel accomodations, etc.
|
Saw it coming, MVP is pretty much the best team in the world right now. I put them a little bit ahead of SlayerS

Badminton sponserships, at least at the lower levels, is a couple racquets, shoes, and maybe a bag. Some grip and strings may be included. Total cost (retail), maybe 500-600 bucks. That is probably what they are getting per player. Every bit counts.

Even though I feel razer overprice some of their products heavily this is why I buy them still apart from the fact that they are amazing.

A well deserved win for both parties. Good move is good
|
I support both Razer and Steelseries (about 8 different products atm) but there is little doubt that I am going to lean towards Razer for the time being when I buy my new headset. Razer picking up a few teams recently and Steelseries dropping Grubby the option seems rather obvious. I am also much more of a TL fanboy then EG.
Personally I think one of the smartest moves Razer could do right now to "seal the deal" with a lot of hour hearts is to sign Grubby.
|
Great move by Razor and well-deserved by MVP, clearly one of the top teams if not THE top team in SC2 right now.
|
Razer now sponsors three Korean teams (oGs, SlayerS and MVP). It's nice to see Koreans finally getting sponsors.

Great for both sides, MVP is clearly a top 3 team at the moment and arguably the first with both DRG and Genius.

I think its funny how people are saying that razer is almost the only ones supporting the SC2 scene, when in denmark almsot every single team is sponsored by steelseries and at every event steelseries makes sc2 tournaments possible by delivering merchandise worth of 2000$.
I'm not trying to slander razer at all, i admire their efforts for the sc2 scene. But they're not the only ones is all im saying

That's not necessarily true when you consider how much more EG gets their sponsors out than most teams. I could hardly tell you any sponsors of most teams, but I certainly know EG = Steelseries

Unless Razer decides to form their own official team, don't think this will be an issue.

Steelseries: Navi, SK Gaming, Fnatic, Tyloo, Evil Geniuses and TSquared
Razer: Mousesports, MeetYourMakers, oGs, Diginitas, Reason Gaming, Rox.Kis, Liquid, Frenetic Array, Wayi Spider, VeryGames, MVP, Manaflask, Ensidia, For the Horde, FXO, Quantic Gaming, All Gamers, Gamed-De, Counter Logic Gaming, Epsilon eSports, Gamabears, eSahara, Empire, The Fighter's Alliance, Vile Gaming, Method Guild, and Team AmazYn.

Steelseries sponosr teams such as: (which have SC2 players or divsions) It's Gosu eSports Gamersleague Infinity Seven vVv Gaming Team Dynamic SK-gaming Fnatic Copenhagen Wolves incredible Panic eSuba Incredible Miracle TyLoo Evil Geniuses etc......
I could easily still add up 20 or more teams which are sponsored by steelseries to that list but these teams do not have any SC2 divsions.

I appreciate sponsoring esports organizations, but for heavens sake please test your products before you release them. I have a razer keyboard and its described as gaming but it's actually not gaming related at all. The most annoying thing about it is the lights for caps lock and num lock are so bright they give headaches. So yeah . . .thanks alot for supporting esports but actually do what a company is meant to do as well and test your own goods before spoon feeding them into gamers as if its gonna make them 10x better.

More than 80% of the listen teams actually do receive financial support in addition to peripherals. This is mostly meant for pro-gamers to be able to focus on their gaming and be able to travel to events to compete.
Some of these teams receive quite substantial amounts that allow their gamers to play games full-time. Just wanted to clear up that misconception.

Happy to see this kind of business savvy in the SC2 world. The pairing makes all kinds of sense.
Glad Razer knows how to jump on the bandwagon. ;-)
But now I'm curious, in what way do the players get to "...contribute heavily to the creation and development of new Razer peripherals." I wonder if there is a market for player-specific mice much the way there are player specific sneakers and cleats? [I definitely payed the extra $100.00 for my Beckham "Dragon" Cleats back in 06']

We do a lot of surveys about features, form factor, weight preferences, etc. with the more professional teams we work with.
Subsequently we create prototypes and have them tested and go through multiple iterations to improve them in various aspect (that could be ergonomics, weight, button placement or others on mice, mic pickup range/noise filter, sound isolation, audio quality, comfort and others on headsets). We collect that feedback and improve the products accordingly to optimize them for gaming.
You might even have seen some TL-Members with keyboard prototypes on their streams lately.

Was curious about this and just went on razer's website, and I'm getting a 404 for the slayers/boxer/mma pages. Did this partnership end recently? I didn't hear anything but perhaps someone has. Or does it have to do with EG and steelseries?

The amount of E-sports exposure that Razer gets is MILES ahead of Steelseries imo, and as far as sponsorships go thats the most important.

Wish i hade razer as a sponsor but good for MVP XD

Seems like this one would be in the bag..

I hate razor products. They're expensive and usually not worth the price (rare exception is the abyssus). However, it's nice to see that razor is giving back to gaming, even if they're just doing it for the good rep it gets them.

Razer must have been pretty impressed with those finals. Nice job guys.

The only things that are expensive is like special edition shit...like the sc2 keyboard or whatever. They make great mice, great headphones, and I like their mousepad although thats a small thing really. Never used a razer keyboard can't make a comment about that.
I think they are one of the LEAST expensive of the top quality gaming gear companies...

I love their usual stuff though Mouse Keyboard Audio Mouse Pad the whole 9 miles

Great move Razer! Love your products and connection to many starcraft teams.

I am always torn when it comes to Razer. I always love what they do for esports, and they have done a lot, especially recently, but I am just unable to like their products. They all seem over priced and lower quality than other companies. It is truely the only company that i can think of that I am so torn on. If only they would focus more on quality over gimiks with their products I would support them 100%. Well, I do still support them and hope they do well and flourish, I guess I just want them to make something that suits me. Fuck it, Razer, if you are actually reading this, you guys are fucking awesome!

razer is such a sick company,i agree with what som people said earlier that razer would also to well to win the hearts of the comunity by picking up grubby! razer products are a lil pricy, 80 bucks for my razer mamba mouse, but ive never once regretted it, its gourgous for one and it helps so much. razerproducts are top of the line by any measure, asthetically the best looking, and play a huge role in the esports community, i dont mind an extra 10 or 20 bucks for that. gratz mvp and razer!

I don't understand why different SC2 teams are all sponsored by the same companies. Wouldn't it make more sense for each company to focus on one team?
|
More teams = more advertisement and players endorsing their product.
|
Top teams getting more money to support players is always great. :D

Yeah but aside from FXO it isn't even apparent who sponsors what teams. It's not like how everyone knows Stork plays for the Samsung team.

Razer you are soo awesome.

is Razer not sponsoring SlayerS anymore?

Grtz to MVP. I hope they can keep their players, because they are so beasty.
