Dutch player ret, who qualified in Sao Paulo, is sick and will not travel to the World Championship. Ukrainian White-Ra will replace him in Group B. On Saturday the Dutch Zerg player wrote on Twitter that he is "super sick and can't sleep". After no improvement during the night he cancelled his participation in the World Championship today.
Due to the limited time-frame the next four players who were eligible, according to the Season Ranking, were not able to come. These are Koreans RevivaL and TOP, Canadian TT1 and Swedens NaNiwa. White-Ra, who shares the 33rd place with NaNiwa and Pomi agreed to take rets place in the tournament. Russian Pomi was not an option due to the visa he would be needing to enter Germany. The Ukranian will now face the No.1 of the ranking, MC.
Ah that's too bad, I was looking forward to watch Ret destroy nerds left and right. Hopefully he'll get better soon, anyway, as Chargelot said, at least Whitera is a worthy replacement.
Why is everyone pulling out of IEM? Hannover is their biggest event, people should be dying to go. Ret is sick so his pull out is understandable, but the tournament keeps losing players and becoming less of a true World Championships final.

Props to White-Ra bossing it up though. You want me where tomorrow? Sure. Bet he'll rock too.
White-Ra got the call, ran out of his house in Ukraine at roughly the speed of light, and is now riding a stalker to the venue. He will be there in an hour.
so sad, im such a big Ret fan, and I cant see him play on streams and lesser tourneys and showmatches, it's a shame he 'll miss this even too Quick recovery!
Pity he has had no preparation time, something he could really have put to good use vs a terrifying opponent like MC. Nerchio had better hope his ZvP is up to scratch too.
Really bummed out about Ret not being able to make it. He was always saying how much he was looking forward to the IEM WC. Get well soon and go own in IronSquid!
WTF? I dun't know if I should be happy or really really sad... Having WhiteRa in that tournament will make it prolly twice as good as it would be without him, but I hoped this tournament could be dominated by Ret... Without Ret IEM probably got like half as excited as it would have been with him... Well, hope you'll get transfused well, Ret, so we can cheer for you soon again. WhiteRa fighting, Ret recovering!
although im a massive whitera fan it does seem hes being drafted into alot of tournaments lately...
Now i know very well he is a fine player but it does seem like theres a hint that big tournaments are trying to make excuses for him to be able to play... even as far as paying some players not to turn up so he can be drafted in..
Im fine with this because even if hes not one the top performing players at the moment, his charisma and history within the game would definatly make for a more enjoyable viewing experience..
Its kinda what the GSL are trying to do.. rather than have the best players its a good idea to have some of the best loved players... after all its an entertainment business..
White-Ra is pretty much the only replacement I can think of that makes me totally fine with not being able to see Ret there. I love Ret and I really think he deserves a title like IEM WC, but so does White-Ra.
Oh man.. i'm so sad. I am living only 45 minutes away from cebit If you are able to secure a third, try to harras with cloaked banshees, just to throw him off!, but i'm am not able to visit IEM. It's a shame that i have the possibility to go, but i can't. Who knows how often IEM will be in Hannover again? Maybe often, maybe last time.
Anyways. It will be good to see white-ra in an offline event since a long time (at least for me)

anyone else agree?
Ouch. Be prepared for massive WhiteRa fanboy rage.
I disagree. I think that most likely there is a real reason that Ret couldn't make it and White-Ra does very well in most if not all of the tournaments he enters even if he isn't always top 5. He has strong performances even against clearly superior players and deserves to be there for his current levels of play.
what is with IEM losing all its players? do they just hate IEM for some reason? it is to many for it to be a coincidence IMO. A lot of people have pulled out of this tournament
To bad for Ret, not only is he on form he also looked out to this tournament. + It's not far from his home i bet he would have liked to visit some family and friends aswell before or after. This guy gotta be propper sick. Get well soon Ret and let your lady take good care of you.
I'd like a non Protoss to replace him because of the group ... But Whit-Ra i guess could be the exception for his manner and fun play.
While I love White-ra and will prolly be cheering for him more than what I would for ret, with Ret's form lately I'm quite dissappointed to read this thread.
Awww that sucks!! I really thought Ret had a pretty good chance of goin all the way in this 1. Nothing we can do about getting sick though lol. Anyway, we can look forward to seeing Ret do really well in the future though :-)
