Q: What should I be posting about? A: Basically, anything you want to talk about but aren't sure if it warrants a topic of its own. Heard a rumour you want to share? A new video? A question you are sure is super common but can't find the answer to via searching? A brilliant new idea that you want to vet, to make sure it's really as brilliant as you think it is?
This is the place.
Note: Posting standards will not be as high as if you were to make a new thread, but pointless spam will still not be tolerated. I have seen threads like these work out alright on other sites (for other games) so I figured, why not give it a shot? It's possible there's not really enough content for something like this to exist at this point in time, but no harm then, it will just die on its own.

It's his hipster style, he always has a new look to him everytime you see him play. That in addition to his awesome skills. Also, he's Swedish, we strangely have an mystic touch to us. I mean, where else in the world do you most likely have to fight off a polar bear to get to school?
Just making sure, is it standard to praise Jinro with the opening post for every new General Discussion? I've been seeing this trend a lot lately, just wanna make sure
Just accidentally found this picture while googling something else, and thought it's really funny; sorry if it's very old and everyone has seen it, but maybe someone would appreciate it:

Well Millenium Feast got further than any forgeiner could have hoped to at IEM WC. Is this a sign that forgeiners may actually be able to go head to head against Koreans?

I feel like Koreans don't have as many advantages in SC2 as they did in Broodwar. Starcraft 2 is insanely popular right now world wide, and the real difference between Koreans and Foreigners are work ethic and environment. I expect big things from foreign players this year, watching some of the streams look @ Incontroll for example, he has not had great showings with MLG last year, but with the way his ladder and practice games have been going I see hope for him. Stephano is arguably the best SC2 player on earth right now, we have people like Feast (who I did not and still don't know a whole lot about) taking things deep. Maybe this will be the year people lace the boots up and level out the playing field...
If I only play 4 placement matches (out of 5, for example) and the next season hits, does my placement matches/MMR reset or would it save my MMR/placement matches and keep me at 1 placement match?
This is assuming only one season (I know 2 seasons always reset your MMR/placement matches).
does anyone know if a certain percent of prize money a player earns goes to team? like if MVP wins a tournament, does all 50k go to IM or does he keep the whole 50k?
I stopped following SC for a while during the December hols, so I kinda missed a lot of the new maps that came around, like Daybreak and Calm before the Storm.
Just wanted to ask, but why does Zerg suck so much on Calm of the Storm? It seems like fairly standard map, so I'm not really sure why people say that Protoss has a gigantic advantage on this map.

I am 99% certain that it will count as you not having recieved a ranking, thus your MMR will not be saved and you will have to do 5 placement matches.

I personally think it has to do with buildtime associated with creating supply buildings.
Overlords build out of the larvae, and don't require any drone to be pulled off of anything (and the hatchery only provides 2 so zerg can start with an overlord and not be completely gimped), and the probe isn't required to stand by and build something.
Since you effectively lose an SCV, you'd have to cut SCVs to produce a supply depot if you didn't.

calm before the storms favors p in pvz because the protoss can go nexus first into gate and cyber and a zerg really can not punish him. they can take there normal quick third but then are very vunerable to a very fast 5/6/7 gate attacks since protoss gets warp gate so fast on this map. this and the fact as its seen as a map that only produced 200/200 games lead to not lasting long on the gsl. also blind robo builds prove to be strong on this map because its hard for muta builds or roach busts to deal any damage because of the three close easy defended bases on this map

Click. This topic also explains it. I don't really know what it means but I guess it modifies the points you get? Being in the lower ranks means you get more points (up to the amount displayed on the wiki), and vice versa?
Actually, how DID Arbiter, I mean Jinro, get so gosu? How does a former professional writer become such badass at this game? Unreleased tension perhaps.

And this way you don't have to.
Also note that when you build something with the drone, the supply count goes down, since you lose the drone. Hence the geyser trick.

Morrow IMO is a poor excuse for a pro gamer if he is unable to play his main race in a mirror match up at the highest level of play. This is even more apparent considering most of his wins in TvZ are by exploitative/all-in tactics (Reaper builds before the speed nerf, and Hellion builds lately)
I could see a lesser skilled player race-picking specific match-ups that are susceptible to cheese out wins, but this is probably only in PvP and ZvZ; TvT is a relatively stable match up that tends to favor the better player.
So therefore, if race-switching is allowed by tournament organizers (it should NOT be IMO) then it is conceivable that someone could do this, but I doubt any serious or highly skilled pro gamer would ever consider it.

have you seen how he plays recently? he is really impressive right now, especially his zvt is just amazing. He did kind of abuse the imbalanceness of the game at the beginning but now he is very consistent with his play.
Morrow playing TvZ, ZvP, and ZvT shouldn't be allowed. It's worked so far, but what if there's another player in the same tournament who says he'll play PvT and ZvZ, for example? It creates an infinite, unresolvable cycle.
Is Season Six locked on EU? When i launched SC2 today I noticed that i have 0 bonus pool (and i played my last game 2 days ago) and it isn't growing anymore. I don't see any news on battle.net or anywhere. Anyway it shouldn't be locked, because Season 6 started not long ago, in February, I think and Blizzard stated that seasons will last for 2 months now.

GSL is divided into two 'divisions'. Code S, and Code A. Code S is the top division, where as code A is the sub-division you have to play in in order to qualify for Code S.
The Up/Down matches are matches where the top placers of code A, and bottom placers of Code S fight it out, to determine who's playing in code S, and who's playing in Code A next season.

Since we all saw the D3 has cross region, you guys think the expansion will have cross region play as well? I mean, I remember Browder talking about cross region in some txt interview or something.
Seeing as there's 2 threads right now with Terrans and Protosses crying about how OP/unbeatable Stephano's builds are, I was wondering if Stephano has a magical answer as to how to make ZvZ not suck. I've never really seen him do anything spectacular in ZvZ, but then again, I've probably only seen him play a handful of them.

yep, Prime team has an account with this ID, so does MVP team and IM, the part about not being able to analyze replays isn't quite true as you can just use hotkey finger printing to figure out who it is (replays from IEM are easily available for comparison).

Depends on the type of cheesing that you are doing. If you're talking cannon rush/6 pool type cheese, then its skill. If you're doing 1 base all ins then its lame.

Do you play random? If yes it's not very skill full coz you're just playing on the fact that your opponents doesn't know which type of cheese to expect in the first minutes of the game. If no than I guess your execution is just very good, which is certainly some kind of skill ^^

I believe the Winter Championship is free, it's just the events leading up to the championship that you must subscribe for. At least this is what I'm hoping. It would be a terrible decision to make all events subscription based viewing. They don't even have a live audience anymore. Very disappointing.

The answer is pretty obvious I am surprised you even had to ask, but he was obviously playing with same mouse-pad, in which case they end up canceling each other out. If you run the install disk that came with the pad you need to check the box "No Mouse-Pad Mirrors" so that you don't get matched up with other TL people and can have a perfect record. Hope this Helps.
On March 20 2012 09:59 UnicornJedi wrote: I would like your opinions. Is a 52% win rate by cheesing in high master league skill or lame?
If you can only win by rushing it is noob. In ladder you depend on the fact that your opponent has no idea what your style is. If your opponent has any idea what u are doing you lose. Its like stopping the game before it gets starts because you aren't confident in your ability to compete in the late game, whch is harder than early game. Sure you win the game by rushing, but if you play the same player again the same cheap tricks don't work, so you would never win at a tournament because everyone would know all you do is rush. If a GM rusher entered a tournament he would be laughed at.
GM league rushing is nothing to be proud of. Its an exploitation of the matchmaking system. Instead of having a lot of good strategies to bring to the table, you have one perfected one, and you rarely encounter the same players so you never need to change it up, therefore you never improve.

I'm not sure about this. I think it can't be scaled by rank at all since some divisions are newer than others and the newer divisions are full of diamonds that have just been promoted, and will more than likely have less points than other divisions. Since rank is determined by points, it makes more sense to just go to the 'root' and scale it by points.
I believe that as of right now 1000+ points is high masters, as you'll see them occasionally play grandmasters. Anyone who plays grandmasters regularly is a high master.
A midmaster is around 700-1000 points. These players will never play grandmasters, and if they do it's once in a blue moon and against a player who won't be grandmaster next season (this doesn't happen often since GM is fixed this season).
Players who are generally ranked 25-100 are low masters, as in they play diamonds still quite often. Probably any player that is under 700 points is a low master.
Granted these point values will become useless in a few weeks as the bonus pool accumulates.
edit: For reference, I am a midmaster who recently climbed from low masters and is fighting for a top 8 spot in my respective division. What's stated above is just simply my opinion on the matter.

This delay between games in MLG is crazy. They should do it like fighting game tournaments where the players playing next are already setting up their game as they wait. Fighting game tournaments have implemented this even though players' set up time is far less than SC2 players.

I'm not sure what match you're talking about but from the sound of it, it was a TvT? Was MKP being scanned by his opponent at the time? If so he was more than likely comitting a Banshee fake. The Medivac energy upgrade is the cheapest one and makes the opponent believe that a Cloaked Banshee is incoming. I can assure you that Marine King isn't clicking the pictures.
They play on the NA client. The default keys are actually the same for the Korean and English client. For example a is used to create a marine on the NA client and the Korean client. If custom hotkeys are used, you can be sure it's changed for all clients.

Blizzard felt that a buff was needed because the protoss never used it because it did not regenerate enough health to be reusable.
Ever since release zerg drops have been lacking compared to terran and warp prism drops in current day.
Proposed change is that we Combine Overlord speed and drop technology. This would make the amount of resources spent not be such a huge investment, also it would make it more viable allowing Zergs to use it in their current play. The upgrade would cost 200/200, and would have a 100 second build time. So my question is how come Protoss received a buff to their drop ship when Zergs was just as bad. Outcome
1. Make Zerg harass more viable other then hoping for ling run by to be successful or muta harass.
2. Increase the skill cap of Zerg allowing them to have more tactics in game.
Possible other changes
Maybe they could possibly keep them as 2 upgrades but reduce research time by 20-30 seconds on carry and reduce mineral cost by 100/100.Still keeps the 200/200 original idea and keeps scouting speed the same to allow people who go for the EX: infestor style to scout for drops and prepare.

Why are there so many MLG ads on the MLG streams? Wouldn't advertizing third parties be more lucrative? Or can't they just get them to buy their ad space? Or is it just that I simply don't get the third party ads in my region?

He streams quite often, he used to be featured before TL changed the featured requirements., he is in Vile, and he has a pretty big following for not being a super gosu progamer.

Gold is pretty good, if this is your first RTS game, its better than 40% of the player base, so not amazing, but a good place to start. (The leagues go bronze --> silver --> gold --> platinum --> diamond --> masters --> grandmasters, which is the top 200 in the region)
The best ways I can say to help you improve is to use your keyboard as much as you can, get a hotkey setup you're comfy with, and watch streams, especially the Day[9] Daily, he does a show nearly every day dedicated to helping players improve. Most of it is fairly advanced stuff, with the exception of his 'Newbie Tuesdays' where they are geared to lower level players. Also there's his 'Funday Mondays' which are funny. Thanks
I was wondering that myself. I have a feeling it's just that MLG wants to promote their stuff as well as sponsors, hence the CONSTANT shameless self promotion. However I don't think they have a whole lot of those at this point. We need it to pick up some steam, have the Brood War players transition over and then we'll see some more diverse opportunities.
From (IMMvp) on general forums of sc2 it's not the real Player but what do you guys think of the idea
I don't think zerg needs a drop buff, for a couple reasons. 1: you don't need to build a special building to get overlords, and you have to build them anyway for supply. So effectively, for the cost of your upgrade you get infinite dropships, and have to spend 0 build time out of a production building.
2. You don't need to get the speed upgrade to do drops, per se, only to do more damaging/dangerous drops. For example, you can transfer drones to close-by air platform on metalopolis to expand and not have them run through the middle of the map. Go to islands, attack undefended close-by-air bases, etc. albeit very slowly. I admit, functionally it sucks, and is only really helpful if you want to do a drop before waiting the extra time for the speed upgrade to complete.
3. Yes, overlords have high HP, regenerate health and are therefore re-useable.
4. The speed upgrade already makes them the best dropships in the game, you do not see terran or protoss having the ability to fly over your base with 6 full dropships and 20 empty ones as decoys. In fact, protoss usually makes due with only 1 or 2 warp prisms at a time.
In the thread you linked, the OP stated "Ever since release zerg drops have been lacking compared to terran and warp prism drops in current day." I do not accept this statement, as zerg drops have always been quite powerful, and probably underused IMO. Baneling drops have been a fairly popular tactic in the past, hydra drops into bases are still an effective harass, just as much as terran drops. I believe the relative rarity of zerg drops compared to terran (i think they are still used more frequently than protoss drops) is more a product of current zerg playstyles than any actual weakness in the strategy or units. People prefer to have their power units, such as hydras and banelings, with their armies in case they get attacked. In mid-late game, dropping zerglings rarely causes enough damage to be worthwhile, and besides that, they are fast enough around the map (especially with a good creep spread) that you don't need to drop them. For terran, the 8-16 high-dps marines are more disposable, and less likely to be the deciding factor in a full-force engagement than the 8-16 banelings or hydras that you would drop.
TL;DR Zerg has great drop capabilities already, and the investment they currently have to make to get it is well worth it. So they don't need a drop buff.

So I've been noticing a lot of people named IlIllIlIIIlI or some variation of that name on the KR/TW server, especially when I'm watching pro Korean streams getting matched up against them. A look through sc2ranks shows a ton of people in Grandmasters and Masters being named IlIllIlIIIlI. It's almost eerie to see all these IlIllIlIIIlI accounts, since almost all of them use the same default female portrait.
I sorta want to believe that these are BW progamers, but it's unlikely since some of these accounts date back for a while before rumors of the BW to SC2 switch began surfacing. Heck, I don't trust my hunches anymore after Dongraegu didn't turn out to be Jaedong smurfing on the SC2 ladder.
So I speculate that these IlIllIlIIIlI accounts are just current SC2 progamers hiding their real identities on the ladder, possibly from the same team since the sheer number of IlIllIlIIIlI accounts with unified portraits might point to a more unified effort from a particular team. However, I'm just speculating without any personal knowledge of the KR SC2 scene, so perhaps someone with more experience on KR can shed some more accurate information.
Check out the rankings from the KR/TW server on sc2ranks to see all the IlIllIlIIIlIs. It's kinda creepy.

Hello guys , my name is narundo in the game and i have been a top mastery player since season 2. During my time i have experianced a lot and made some brilliant tactics! . They were bad in the start but after a while (and some small changes) they actually became good. So me and some friends decided to make a webbsite about those "fun" tactics. We have both videos and guides that explains how we make those wins.
The tactics works well against grandmaster players because grand master players are our main opponents.

It's the exact same thing that got him in trouble the first time. He didn't deserve to lose his job for raging at some random player. Everyone did a kneejerk reaction and went "OH NO HE SAID NIGGER, GET THAT DAMNED RACIST."
My point is it's hypocritical to come to his defense now if you didn't stand by him the first time. Orb was unjustly wronged.
People are honestly too sensitive about the use of words. Would he have been fired for calling someone a retard or a faggot? They're all derogatory words to some group of people, so why raise one's 'offensive value' above the other?

Personally, what annoys me about orb is that he goes around on his PR appearances talking about how he's genuinely sorry about what he said, how he's going to use it to "make himself a better person" and he learned so much from the experience etc. which is all obviously insincere. It is just a canned speech of things he thinks producers want to hear so they might consider using him as a commentator again. Plus when he comes out and claims someone else did it on his account, etc. he must think people are f'n retarded to believe that obvious of a lie. And he still stands by it, rather than just admitting that he lied because he was scared, desperate and didn't want to lose his job. How he handled the whole situation was so transparent and childish that I can't bring myself to feel any pity for him whatsoever. Assuming that orb was actually the person in these screenshots, it just goes to show how insincere his post-incident interviews were.
Edit: Confirmed, yes it was him that typed it, he was streaming at the time. http://www.twitch.tv/orbtl/b/313246582 (skip ahead to 23:00 mins) I realize that the cancer comment he was just trying to be funny, but if he ever wants a serious job he is going to have to grow up. There are lots of commentators out there and I don't think sponsors or teams want someone that is a potential PR liability. And people are obviously looking for every opportunity to troll him, so he should try to be smarter about it.

Simple fix, when you start up the game it is default in fullscreen mode. If you want to be able to switch quickly you hit escape, push options, then under graphics you can change it from Fullscreen to Windowed (fullscreen). or just Windowed. In windowed modes, you can switch windows much faster.

Stop the presses, I just saw Kas destroy the Automaton 2000 by spamming leftclick on it (on Antiga Shipyard). Probably works on all those neutral units on the map. I tested it briefly myself and it worked. Didn't count the required number of clicks, probably around 20 or something.
Who is the smartest protoss around? I mean not the most successful or macro/micro god. Smart. As in decision making and reaction time and stuff. Doesnt matter if he/she has won anything or not. (Must be a good progamer though!)
Also, one more simple question. PvT 1 gate expand, I find it very useful (after watchin a lot of progames) to not have a pylon near your natural till 1-2 warp ins from your eventual 3 gate since a bio rush gets you supply blocked and is very hard to stop if you do have a pylon. My question was, Is it a good idea to not tranfer probes too atleast for sometime specially if u are expecting some bio units to come? I dont know if I said it right but I hope you get it.

You don't gain any benefits for mining from 2 bases until one of them is completely saturated with 16 on minerals. So if you don't want to put any on the expo right away, no real harm. Just remember to transfer them later when the main does start to get saturated. The benefit of the additional base is of course quicker harvester production and faster saturation of the base(s).

You mean best for you to study from?
It depends really how you classify, there's those who use same standard safe BO which works for ladder and some opponents or there is these that study their opponents and snipe them hard and metagame them etc. But I for study I would choose PartinG, most of his stuff he does ingame makes sense. I think Genius is one protoss to study as well, but he doesnt stream or particpate in any tournaments except GSL so all you will get from him is GSL VODs.

I see most good Protoss getting a lot of early sentries (great for splitting roaches/ ff ramps) when attacking, they can be used defensively pretty well to ff in front of your buildings. Assuming you have 1-2 cannons up as well bling bust shouldn't be able to get near you before you can get more stalkers or w/e to snipe the blings down. Would require pretty good and consistent ff's so EARLY sentries, map depending get as many as poss.
I'm sure someone will prob come up with some inventive new way to defend it and basically crap all over me, but this should work
Has anyone noticed that APM in the game, while watching replays at least, are actually measuring EPM. And EPM are measuring APM? Or am I totally mistaken? Just did some tests, while spamming my hatch my EPM goes up to ~300, APM is at 0. Hm.

Yes, that is a mistake by Blizzard. Probably will be fixed in the next patch.

I wasn't sure where to post this story but then I remembered Jinro always has a new sc2 general discussion forum each month!
So here it is; I was laddering again the other night (even though I still have to play on an older laptop so my framerate is often times a limiting factor in my skill ceiling veryfrustrating). I won my first two placement matches (Imagine my surprise) and then ran into a dude who can actually play the game. I felt confident after my first two matches and I skipped the gl hf for this one as I was just trying to focus and kinda forget about the other guy. Around the time I was building my gateway he says "please don't rush me." I was weirded out by this and you never know with some of the odd things people say (are they for real, are they trolling me, are they trying to distract me, etc) so I say nothing and try to keep my focus up. Then around the time his message is fading he says "so you're going to rush me then?" I'm still weirded out and so I just type "interesting" to let him know I'm alive. I forgot what he said back but I think he said "indeed" and lol or something like that.
Basically I made many mistakes (lost scouting probe, lost my initial army guys, got a 18 supply block) and around the 9 minute mark he had me contained and I knew it was over and he had proved himself the better gamer sooo, I type gg and f10 real quick to quit the match and before I can do that I get the victory screen.
I message the guy while I'm sitting dumbfounded in the score screen and he tells me he is a master player on his other account and he uses this one to mess with low level players, often rewarding manner players. I gotta say this guy has left his mark on me and although I know winning isn't everything and all that he really gave me a mental boost!

Hey guys, not sure is its the correct place to post this, but does anyone know where to find some replay packs from tournaments? like, any tournaments, been looking through liquipedia and theres nothing that i can find, all ive found is that Zotac cup actually releases replays, and im just waiting for MLG to release their damn replays, feels like ive been waiting forever! Yes i know its been like 1 week, but still, it seems very difficult to find replay packs from tournaments these days. So if anyone can help me find some replay packs from tournaments, or things like team leagues or w/e, i just want some high level replays that are recent. Maybe im asking to much, o well, thanks for reading! GG GL
When I turn on Starcraft, it always plays through my speakers, even if I have headphones plugged in. This doesn't happen with any other game for me. Where do I change these settings?
I have starter edition of starcraft 2 & I want to upgrade to full version. I entered my visa debit card information on payment page but this error appears
"There has been an error processing your request." I have asked blizzard support but they have not answered in last two days.

Sometimes Protoss destroy them as they are a good spot to build a Pylon or other building, especially in PvZ.
Answer one ask one:
Why have the casters at IPL chosen to have status bars displayed? I think it's an awesome feature when playing but when casting I think they should have them off and just press alt. The game looks a lot nicer to outsiders with status bars off.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=313311 most people that play the game think different. And in general bad observers should have them on because viewers that know about the game get annoyed if the caster/observer is bad. But if healthbars are on you can figure out stuff on your own such as how good is the players micro, how good is the players army if a players marines are all red the army is obv weaker etc.
Can anyone confirm that it takes 2 seasons of inactivity for a MMR reset now? I know it used to be only 1 but I've heard recently that it takes 2 seasons now.
In last season of GSL there was a match with Gumiho I believe (could be wrong), either in the semi or quarter finals, where he almost destroyed his own CC by accident, but spotted it at the last moment.
Does anyone know which game/set that was?
EDIT: Nevermind, found it! Final game of the final set vs. MVP in the Ro.16

Why do casters NEVER show APM ? (the nice one, not the new one) I mean, even if it's not that important, it's always nice to see shortly how fast the players are, especially in fights.

If you have played a game last season you need to play only 1 placement, if you have left out an entire season you need to play 5 again.

Blizzard said the week of April 9. You won't really get anything more from them, I've heard suggestions it'll be on Wednesday, but it could be any time this week.
Love the new map pool and how almost all of the maps were from GSL/TL contests. They should pretty much have all the maps like that refreshed every season except maybe 1 or 2.
Trolls are always trolling but what is with this sudden "scarlett" jokes? In every stream I watch, there are people making these jokes so I tried to Google it but couldn't find anything. It looked like she's a pretty good zerg player that won a playhem. Is it just sexism?? O___O
Doing my placement match PvP and I get cannon rushed. It shouldn't even count, there's no skill involved in something like that. I even scout it but it ends up in a retarded base race that I lose by one building.

I love how on most of the large ass maps, terran players think that 1 rax FE is soo safe because of the rush distance. I heard Warpgates completely bypass that o,o
Season 7 apparently kickstarted today on EU.. Super nervous, but well, I made it into Silver after 3 seasons of Bronze. I guess that's something atleast.

I have an honest question about Zerg's late game balance:
Why are Brood Lords only 4 supply?
Look at all of the other tier 3 units BattleCruisers: 6 Supply Thors: 6 Supply Collosus: 6 Supply Carrier: 6 supply Ultralisks: 6 Supply
But broodlords for some unknown reason are only 4 supply? Like, I don't think that the broodlord/infestor endgame composition is inherently overpowered in ZvP (or in ZvT), but I just hate how MANY broodlords zerg can make before hitting their supply cap. Like if it comes down to 200/200 maxed army vs maxed army, it isn't even close right now... the amount of broodlords and infestors that zerg can make before hitting their cap can just fucking demolish everything that protoss has (assuming zerg has the forsight to spread out their BL's from vortex). I don't know why they think that this is balanced
On April 14 2012 02:37 Jonas wrote: I don't know why they think that this is balanced
Zerg is meant to be swarm-like, that's why it is so. Would you like stronger broodlords which take 6 supply more?
Your first sentence has to do with lore, which does not matter when it comes to balancing a competitive game. Your second sentence is a False Dilemma, and not even a good one.

Blizzard wanted zerg to be swarmlike and that's why it's balanced how it is. Zerg's lategame composition isn't even that much if any stronger than other's, zerg just gets it faster out which leads to balancewhines when T or P cries why their tier 1/2 units can't beat maxed out tier 3 army. I don't know if there's problem with balance or game design, but for me it seems stupid to cry about the count of something. You know, zerg can have 400 zerglings at once, that gotta be overpowered as it's twice as much as terran can have marines!!
TLDR: Pretty obvious, broodlords are worse than other T3 units, therefore zerg can have more them than other races can have their T3.
I think other T3 units just dont need as much support as the broodlords, cause you will always need to have T1 and T2 units around, to keep them alive and I think it's much more different to bring them into the army, cause if you got too many broodlords, your army gonna die, also if you havent got enough. To find a balance between how many broodlords do I morph in and how many corruptors do I leave remaining as AA is hard enough. The funny thing is, I play Zerg and I'm always wondering why Protoss-players just doesn't do any transition into air units, cause often you see that for Zerg-players its different to deal with any air pressure, cause if you morphed in many broodlords, it means you can't have any strong AA. In fact, why not playing any unit composition like Void Ray, Archon, Colossus and Mothership?

How do you think Blizzard design maps? Do they have some guy they say design maps to? I'd much rather we knew more about this and who it is and then the map designers can intergrate themselves into the map making community more and perhaps listen to ideas about features that would be beneficial to map makers, and who knows, perhaps they might learn to make a decent map or 2 for the map pool themselves

it's expensive and takes too long to transition. If you transition too early, it is difficult to hold a third. I think some toss does transition into a more air based army after a 200/200 fight
Hey, this is one of my first posts. I am not sure if this has been done before so I'll ask anyway. Is there any keybinds/hotkeys that are generally not know or used? For example, I was diamond before I learned that the backspace key (bound mine to space bar) toggled between bases, that c returned minerals, and a few others that now seem obvious to me. The reason I ask is because when watching pros stream it sometimes seems like they know hotkeys I don't.
Hey guys, I had a kinda crazy idea for PvT. I'm not sure of it's viability, and it's mostly theorycrafting but still would like to hear some thoughts.
The idea is to make an air heavy deathball against terran, the advantages of an air heavy deathball with void rays and phoenixes is that air units are protoss racial advantage, and they are stronger than air units of other races however more expensive. Huge amounts of air units from protoss would kill any amount of vikings. However if he's going to use marines, we're going to melt them with colossus while using forcefields to stay away from marauders. The composition idea would be as following: 200 supply: 60 supply worker, 36 supply colossus, 4 supply observer, 30 supply void ray, 50 supply phoenix, 20 supply sentry.
Even if it's viable, you can say anything is viable, you can go 200/200 carriers and it's unstoppable but you never do that because you simply die. So here's how I think to pull it off: Nexus first is the best economical build perfect for us to secure a huge early gas income from 4 assims. We'll be needing 4 upgrades: Ground weapons, air weapons, thermal lances and anion crystal. So why not make an early forge in order to stop any aggression by building cannons. Now cannons can be killed by marauders and siege tanks. That's why we're going to build a stargate and make void rays which perfected counter those 2 units listed before. Then start our sentry production to help our cannons some more. We get a robo and start making 4 observers to have perfect vision around your base. Then use void rays and phoenix to stop any drop attempts. Now go colossus while adding 1-2 more stargates for extra air production.
What do you think of this idea? Could it be viable? It's mostly theorycrafting that's why I posted it in general discussion thread.
As there is no Simple Questions, Simple Answers thread for sc2general I'll ask here: Does anybody know if there are teams who have insured one or more of their players against hand/wrist injuries? If yes, are any numbers public? Just curious...

I think they have. From what I think, they would set an objective for the map like "I want long/macro game in this map so it should be big, many minerals" or "short/micro then small" ... Should I make this map interesting, maybe add a watch tower or a Gold mineral on center of the map. Then the rest is same, 1 choke point to main mineral(prevent Zergling), 2nd expansion should be closer (help Zerg)... something like that.
Why doesn't terran have any good fucking tier 3 units? It pisses me off that I have to use t1 the whole game, and use insane micro, positioning and macro to beat some guy and his amoved tier 3 units. Blizzard really needs to buff the bc or the raven or something.

But if u wanna have big army, U can try it with Terran, I think it will be much faster (with the help of Mules of course)
Anyone starting to find standard macro games kinda boring to spectate in SC2? I enjoy macro games when there's someone exceptional playing, like HerO's PvZ or Parting's PvT, but standard games where both players are maxed for five minutes before having it out are boring. There's no interesting decision making going on.
The way the game plays out in the early game / mid game is more dynamic and every engagement doesn't have to be so big it decides the entire game right there.

I'm just getting bored of SC2 in general. At least a couple months ago people were harassing, but now that people know how to defend everything I'm realizing the lack of energy that SC2 macro games have.
TvZ now is boring as hell to watch. Infestors Z_Z. Yeah, let me mass a unit that prevents micro. I liked it better when there was Muta harass, but Thors pretty much killed the muta. People bairly even make banlings because infestors are so good.
PvZ has no micro other then early game blink which is EZ PZ and Move Attack.
TvT has no micro other then Bio Busting.
TvP is just move Attack move Attack.
PvP you have to micro your collosi. O_O
ZvZzzzzzz was fun for a while, but now its just turtle into roach infestor.
How much have the lower leagues improved overall since the first few seasons? I made plat by S2 and was working hard to improve my play but after 2 I burned out and didn't ladder or follow metagame for a long time. I'm back in gold now and improving again but I feel disheartened when I look at my 1v1 league history, I feel like I've regressed even though I'm smoothing mechanics in important areas.

The transition into this would be a bit (read: very) hazy. Void Rays lack mobility and can easily be sniped by Bio if used in early midgame until you reach the critical breaking point.
The gas income is vital, and each army supply is on average 46,2 gas. 6500 gas in total, from an average of 4 geysers is still 13 minutes and 25 seconds of mining gas (counting 121.15 gas/minute per geyser). This does not factor in upgrades, tech and units lost in harassment and engagements. This would hit at 25-30 minutes and a Terran who scouts this transition, which as previously mentioned still feels hazy, could prepare with Ravens, Vikings and potentially a few BCs or just keep attacking you relentlessly trying to deny you from reaching this point.
You need great harassment and a Zealot-heavy midgame to pull this off.
That being said, I think Sky Toss is very fun (it's great in PvZ, I play both P and Z so I get both ends of that deal...) and that it has yet to be thoroughly explored.

It's easily resolvable. Have them blindly pick a race without the other one knowing which one. That's what other games do in their tournaments.

I'm 90 percent sure that it would reset, don't count on that though.
When are SCBW pros gonna make the switch? And which ones of the biggest players are left? I haven't really followed the BW scene, so I don't know if Bisu, Stork, Jeadong and Flash are still playing
Just voicing my opinion: I would really like to see an improvement in the starcraft 2 team ladder maps.I know that the game is more based around 1v1s, but I enjoy having team games with friends. Some improvements that I recommend would be: -easier to hold a third base for more than one member on your team -more maps with all the members of your team inside one base so you feel more like a team than individuals that share a common goal and maybe improve the match making system so that if people make a party and search team games then they won't verse people who have searched random team games. This is just my gold league opinion.

Actually.. Ohanna both in my play and while watching GSL seems to lead to lots of base race scenarios for some reason. Its relatively easy to sneak in a warp in pylon somewhere for P and i think that adds to the whole issue lol.
I find it pretty entertaining as toss, simply because there are so many base races on the map.

The real question, when is P going to get nerfed?
The problem is straight-up nerfing Protoss for PvT imbalance (if there is any) will make ZvP like 10 times worse than it is already. Imo really what Protoss needs is some structural changes that make harass and taking a third easier (earlier splash damage or more effective units in small numbers).

Idk, they need something early game definitely to balance it out vs. terran and zerg, but then lategame it becomes really hard to win against a toss.

In late game ZVP, zerg has the advantage. Protoss has no composition that can effectively deal with infestor broodlord, all zerg needs to do is to use infestors/corruptors to zone out the mothership and the zerg can just attack and kill bases without any resistance. Nerfing protoss in the late game will create an even bigger problem in the PVZ match up.
I don't think there is THAT much problem in late game PVT at the moment. At least not enough to justify a change. There hasn't been enough time for the metagame shift to solidify, and a change simply cannot be justified before that happens. In the mean time, Terran players need to figure out new tactics that they should use to face late game Protoss, instead of just crying about balance. For example, try dropping with low energy medivacs to prevent feedback, building extra orbitals to scan and anticipate for the colossus/templar switch, or even trying mech.
The point is, stop saying its imba because the old style doesn't work anymore, look at what happened with the ghost nerf in late game TVZ. Before the nerf everyone was like "this is terrible and it will completely unbalance the game, there's now no way for terrans to deal with broodlords blah blah blah", and after it came out what happened? Turns out "oh I can just make some vikings and drop a lot" and the match up was completely fine.

The real question, when is P going to get nerfed?
After they start performing as well as- and then better than- both Terran and Zerg in tournaments, probably.
That's usually how it goes. Also, statistics are useful too. And Protoss have been statistically the worst race, so I don't really see them getting nerfed anytime soon. lol.
On April 24 2012 09:31 IMoperator wrote: Quick question when is Blizz going to fix TvP?

I had the same opinion as you, then i switched terran. Its just stupid how better than your opponent you must be to beat him. I hadnt played Terran since the emp nerf and its just plain out stupid now.
The truth is Terran got nerfed because protoss' were crying so bad and they didnt let the meta game stabilize back then. tvp would be pretty balanced now if emp had proper radius and took away all energy. (not shileds, energy)
you don't 'build a composition' to defeat broodfestor deathball. You run around and multiprone attack AWAY from the broodfestor army. I can recommend going towards mothership somewhat faster than what 'feels right' - also late game dt harass is incredible.
pvt is different, but i feel like luck is more of a factor - which bothers me slightly
all this talk about 'having to be so much better' than your opponent to win (in any matchup) is just senseless rage that doesn't belong anywhere
The problem with P is that gateway units are just awful against larger armies, ever watched pure gateway units against a lot of terran bio later into the game? yeah it isn't pretty

I'm really behind and catching up, I only just noticed, where is the cute interview girl who always wears the light blue jacket? Is she not in there anymore?
Just a question after watching Eclypsia vs ZeNex, but why does Protoss not include a Warp prism in their 7 gate robo blink all in?
SPOILERS AHEAD
One of the biggest determinants (IMO) as to who wins in this situation is how quickly and efficiently the sentries are killed off. Scarlett managed to trade roaches for Sentries, and Avenge's attack ran out of steam pretty quickly after that.
I feel a warp prism over an observer would greatly bolster the Protoss army flexibility for the following reasons: 1) You can lift four sentries, keeping them safe after the forcefields have been dropped. This basically ensures at least one more round of FF, which is far more important than the tickle DPS sentries have. 2) It's a mobile pylon. Warp in seven stalkers under your warp prism (which ideally would space your sentries away from roaches as well), and you literally bolster your army mid battle. Zergs don't have much AA during the initial battle since they won't have queens, and by the time you're at their hatch you've probably won or are about to get rolled for being hyperagressive. 3) It saves that 75 gas for another sentry, and if you must you can always build the obs afterwards.

Have some general questions, if someone can answer it'd be great.
1. What happens to the minerals a drone is holding if I send it to mine gas? 2. What happens to the mineral or gas a drone is holding when I make a building with it? 3. I like to watch replays of the games I've lost to see what I did wrong and watch wins sometimes to bathe in my glorious conquests. Under the video replay list how I can tell which one's I've lost and won easily? I have to match the map names with the ladder maps at the moment, which is not very convenient.

Thanks.
1. They disappear. 2. They disappear (afaik, not too sure though). 3. I'm not sure how you would be able to tell if you won or lost a game by just looking at the replay name, map name, names of the players and time. I suggest you try out SC2Gears if you want to analyze your replays a bit further though, it's pretty helpful.
That doesn't help with the translation, that just helps sound out the words. You still have to know what the words mean (i.e. actually be able to speak Korean)
It just takes up too much time, and I am not improving.
Why doesn't every protoss just FFE all the time 100% forever, and just builds a cannon at my expo. There ist litterally nothing, NOTHING, N O T H I N G a zerg can do about that. I will be behind all the damn game, and then he just does his 7 gate or whatever timing and I am dead.
Terran, just build marines. And win. Period.
Goodbye Starcraft, was fun playing you, but its just not worth it. I have better things to do right now.
And goodbye teamliquid, makes no sense to watch and read about Starcraft, when I am trying to get rid off my addiction for this game.
Maybe I will try it some time in the future. But I don't think so.

Well that's unfortunate.
Just gotta relax bro. I handle the FFE as Zerg just fine. Stephano is on to something IMO. And as for Marines....infestor/ling/bling works wonders.
I am glad I found an open forum to ask this on before posting and pissing people off.
Hi, I am Macro and I want to cast replays. Your replays specifically. Yes, you nerd. I want to watch your games, analyze them and put some cool commentary/camera work to them maybe with a little background music. Do you have a game that was super awesome and want some to sing your praises on that sick storm you landed? Gimme. Do you have a game where you met NesTea on the ladder and want to watch someone reveal what could have helped defeat him? Gimme.
Basically, I want to do this. Really. I know you guys have seen 1,000,000 of me, or at least over 9,000. See what i did there!? I make lame played out jokes as well. In all seriousness, I love Starcraft and our community and really enjoy casting and I want to improve. So if you have games, submit them to me please. If you have free time, watch my casted games and rip a new one with your stellar constructive feedback.
Thank you for reading and I look forward to casting your games.
P.S. Mods, I am sorry if this was out of line, I have tried to research the appropriate venue to do this and this matched closest,
P.P.S. In case you're like "well how the hell do I know I want YOU to do anything for me Macro!?!?!"
Hey guys, I'm wondering about HoTS and hotkeys. In the last information released about their current build, they didn't say anything about the Arc Shield ability, but seeing as they didn't say it was cut, I'm assuming it's still in. My question is this: if you can turn any protoss building into an attacking structure, surely they all need an "attack" hotkey. It seems to me that this will conflict with various existing hotkeys. For instance, in standard, the attack hotkey is A. On the forge, the hotkey to upgrade armour is also A. Do you think they are going to change the attack hotkey for buildings, or change the hotkey for upgrades?
I ask this because I am currently using the hotkey set up Base J, which was posted on TL a while ago. My hotkey for warping in a Zealot is F, but it is also the hotkey for attack. I'm very comfortable with this set up and have taken a long time personalising it etc. so I'd really like to avoid changing it to something else. All I can hope is that in HoTS, the hotkey for building attack and unit attack are not the same, or at least can both be assigned to something else. As it stands, attack is a universal hotkey, so all units and buildings share the same key command for attack.
Does anyone who played the HoTS build at Blizzcon remember anything about this, or have any information on the Arc Shield ability? I'd really like to hear more about it as it seems like a really underdiscussed ability.
Why is the Twitch.tv app so horrible for the IOS (iphone, ipad etc)......is it really that hard to figure out how to get decent quality instead of a flurry of blur even if youre sitting on 100 mbit....
Other streaming sites are som much IOS friendlier....which is a shame cuz 70% of the sc2 ppl stream on twitch.....
thats my 2 cents.... oh yeah cant wait for GSTL to starta again with liquid and fanatic yay!

That link does not provide the actual map changes. Thanks for trying though..
I'm pretty sure the map itself is unchanged. It's just a version of the map that already has these unit changes on them. That means the map layout itself will be exactly the same when you go and play on it, but the units that you produce will be modified in the way you see on the page he linked

I've seen pros do this thing where they click down in their units box to get a single ling/marine/zealot take the watch tower, does anyone what this is called and how to do it?

I believe you mean "shift-clicking". To do this:
1. Select two or more units. 2. Hold shift. 3. Click one unit in box in middle, bottom of screen. Or click physical unit. 4. Release Shift 5. The unit you clicked/unslected will no longer be a part of your group.
*Note* You can also (highly recommended) use this method with builds as well when hotkey-ing things.

What they do is indeed shiftclicking, but what above didnt mention is this:
They have satheir army selected and send the whole army to the watchtower, then they shift click one unit so it is no longer selected. Then they send the currently selected army ( Whole army minus the one deselected ) and move it back. This way the deselected unit makes its way over to the tower while the rest of the army stays in place.
I don't know if this is the right thread, but I was watching some streams where I could see their hands on camera and they were tapping F1, F2, F3 or something like that as it shifted to binded camera positions. Menu --> Options --> Hotkeys --> Global ---> Cameras
You must rebind the "Jump to Location X" to the corresponding Fx key, and "Create Location X" to ctrl+Fx. Also, make sure to go "Unit Manager" submenu and rebind the "idle worker" key to something else.
Are there any videos of Elky from the recent Iron Squid tournament? I heard he showed up, but can't find any decent videos of it happening. I was thinking of making a thread about this, but didn't think it was significant enough.
Hi. I have always had hand/wrist pain while playing SC2. Every couple months I will come back to it but within a week or two I have to go on another extended break. I started playing again about a week ago after not playing for ~2 months. I have been wearing wrist braces at night, have elevated my chair, and stretch my hands 3 times throughout the day. It just doesn't seem to work.
The symptoms vary and can be in either hand:
-Pain in my fingers usually happens in both hands, but on the pinky side and sporadically.
-My wrists also frequently have pain/numbness, but like with my fingers, it comes and goes. Numbness occasionally goes down my whole arm to my elbows from my wrists.
-However, the most consistent problem is numbness/weakness in my right (mouse) palm. My index and thumb finger seem to be the center of the condition, there is some muscle/tendon/? that runs from my index finger into my palm that seems swollen and I can feel numbness running down the back of my arm from my thumb/index finger on my right hand.
It is extremely frustrating and every time I begin playing seriously and trying to get into Top 8 Masters I get rebuffed by the pain/numbness. I know the usual suggestion is to go the doctor, but I am in my senior year of high school and my parents don't have the greatest health insurance. We could go if I needed to for something, but if I am having hand problems from a videogame the solution is 100% to stop playing the game in their mind. I have brought it up before :D
I know you guys aren't doctors, but if anybody has had something similar and worked it out I would love to hear. Also, any better threads for this? Don't think its thread worthy but don't know where to go for advice. Thank you.

It sure sounds serious. But do you only get the symptoms while playing? Or do they affect you away from the computer?
I dare not say that strengthening your arms physically is what's needed, although it sounds like the right thing to do. I mean, if that triggers the pain then it's bad. But you probably have to go around the problem. Avoid the tension. Changing gear might work, have you tried? Mousepad with "wrist support" or whats-it-called, or changing the angle on the keyboard.

So... Have you always had pain in your wrists/hands/arms -- possibly only noticeable during other similar activities? Or did playing SC2 cause you to notice this problem? Did you experience some specific instance or series of activities that caused pain?
I feel like if you actually have a problem, and it's not just weakness from not having played enough, it could be two general things (or maybe a combo of both): 1) Some type of muscle/tendon debility. Maybe acute, caused by some type of injury. Or maybe chronic, as the result of some condition you've had. 2) A neurological issue. Again, maybe it's due to some injury or activity. Or maybe it's due to some underlying malformation. Or a combo. It's interesting.
Another question: What are your typical physical activities? Do you get an average amount of exercise?

This is textbook RSI. Take a long break from any aggravating activities (months, not weeks) and return to it with better posture/positioning/technique.
First time on TL forums and painfully aware of how lost I am, so I thought I'd just ask and see.....Which forum/thread/topic/etc would I look for if I am trying to find someone to build a custom map for me? I have been told to dig into the editor myself but alas it seems a wee bit too much for my ancient and atrophied brain....I have a very easy scenario I qould like built and I am looking for someone or a group that could do so....any help?
It feels like the more I play the worse I get. I've played probably 100 games in the last 3 days and not only am I not improving, I'm now on a 6 game losing streak. I was beating diamonds early today but now I'm losing to platinum...and not even top 8 platinum ><
Really frustrating to spend so much of my time playing this game and not getting any better. Normally I would attribute this to being frustrated but I actually feel fine. Normally if I go on a losing streak like this I get pissed off and that's what makes it worse. That really isn't the case this time.

Generally, TL does not allow craigslist-like requests. Our community is one of giving and taking, not just one where you can request something and get it delivered to your door. I.e if you want help with something, you need to start a discussion, explain your idea thoroughly, and showcase your attempts to solve the problem and specific problems or questions you have.
Howdy guys, kind of a noob question here! i'm pretty new to SC2 (and SC in general) and i played against another player today and this is the chat log.
Opponent: hihi gl hf me: u2 (20 minutes later) me: g me: gg* opponent: wow bm opponent: gg...
I was the winning player and i wasn't sure what "bm" meant, so i looked it up and it appears it's a rude gesture in a game. i'm kinda curious as to why he would say something like that. i was completely silent the entirity of the game, as was he. It was a "normal" game. There wasn't any kind of turtling or unusual rushing. it lasted around 25 minutes.

What you did was "offensive GG." Either let them GG first or just let them leave without a GG if you are winning. Saying GG (before they do) when you are winning is an insult or the rough equivalent to GTFO or rubbing in a victory.

It's considered kind of bad manner to call gg if you're the winner. Premptive gg can come across as kind of provocative.
Anyone a bit annoyed by D3? Half of pro players currently streaming are playing D3 and viewer count for SC2 streamers/tournaments will drastically go down. :/

The VOD are available on ironsquid.tv just skip after the NesTea - Symbol games, there is a singer and the 2v2 showmatch with ElkY is just after

Imagine you're playing a game of chess. It's pretty clear you're in a terrible position and about to lose, but while you are trying to see if there is any way out of this mess, your opponent says, "Good game!" and offers his hand for to shake and concede the match.
That's rude as hell, even if unintended to be. It's the same in Starcraft.
Howdy guys. Quick question for any of you experienced players out there. I'm a newer player and i'm sitting in the Bronze league unfortunately. I started trying to get a bit better by reading up on some strategies and watching some streams, and ive been doing quite a bit better. But i cant seem to push up into the next league and i'm not quite sure why. Ive read about the MMR system and i read that when i start consistently winning against players in the league above me, i'm about to be promoted.
Well roughly 65-75% of my games have been against silver league players in the last 2 weeks. This week ive played against several silver players in the top 8, I'm winning a LOT more then i'm losing. i'd say around 70% win 30 Loss. Today i even got matched against 2 low level gold league players. I lost both of those matches and they were considered "slightly favored"
Basically i'm wondering if there is anything else that needs doing other then playing and winning games to advance. i really feel like i should be up in the next league right now.

Sometimes it just takes time for it to move you up. Are you playing lots of games, or only a few? I'd also recommend getting SC2gears, then you can find out what your real win percentage is. Could be that you've had a good winning streak so it seems like you have a good percentage, but in reality, you're still at 50/50.

i play what i would consider quite a bit. the last 2 weeks or so i'd say about 7-12 games a day. Prior to reading up and watching these streams i'm pretty sure i was at around 50%. But this last 2 weeks ive been winning a LOT. today im 7-2 went against 2 bronze and 5 silver for wins and lost against 2 gold.
I can only speak for myself but for the last... 3 weeks of season 6 I was rank 1 silver beating mid - high gold pretty much all the time. Takes a lot to be promoted (I wasn't promoted at all that season, got promoted at my placement match in season 7 tho)
You know, guys, I was just thinking about it... wouldn't it be so sweet to see some kind of snake like creature for Zerg? Like a basilisk (look the name already fits!)? The only really worm like creatures that Zerg has is (obviously) the Nydus Worm, the corrupters (or more like their tails). and Hydralisks, to a point. But I want something that is like a snake, that slithers around and attacks shit with its head. Would make looking at a Zerg army so much cooler, because right now it's just a skittering of legs.

Defilers are kinda snake-like, although they don't really attack.
Would be very suitable for their racial aesthetic, but snakes creep me out lol.
I'm so sick of not being promoted into Masters, what is with getting a damn promotion :/ I have a positive win rate against masters, i even play top 16 masters and win. My friend and I are becoming so discouraged from playing because we feel its impossible to get there. Our even match is top fifty masters and we have both played ~200 games this season. Unlike other leagues where being placed up to top 16 in the higher league isn't much harder, this is fucking masters :/

I've never been promoted mid-season. I've only ever gone into a new league at the start of a new season. No idea why but sometimes it just goes that way. Guess it's a bit temperamental.
At the very least if you're winning that much you should end up being placed higher next season.
I am often asked what is starcraft if I do mention it to someone.
I thought to myself, well I bet that someone has made a clever and informative video regarding starcraft similar to the videos done by all your history belong to us on the machinima channel.
However, I cannot seem to find such a video, does anyone know where I can find such a video to educate others?
Note: I used search before posting, didn't see anything.
I think there's a print-out sheet someone did around here with the basic concepts of starcraft on it. Someone made them up to hand out at an event or something.
I love both Starcrafts as esports, but due to the timing of GSL and my unwilling to pay to watch replays of it, I had to stop paying attention to SC2 after the 3rd GSL. However, with the BW pros getting into SC2 and getting a new dog that wakes me up everyday at 5am I am capable to watching SC2 again.
What innovation has happened recently? I know people have started using warp prisms now, when I stopped watching they were largely considered garbage. What is the state of the metagame? Largely I'm looking for something like the "Basic Viewer's Guide to StarCraft: Brood War" in http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=337957 but for SC2 form.
Any help with this would be very much appreciated.
As an aside: I was going to make a separate thread, but felt doing so with an uninformative OP would be unhelpful, if people responding to this would prefer to do so in a new thread for people like me that's cool too! =]

Check out the [SPL] Opening Day post in the News section. It's very informative on all the match-ups to help BW fans in SC2.

Congrats. And that's just because the matchmaking is completely insane lately. I'm in Gold and I rarely play against a Gold player. It's all Plats and Silvers.
Hell the other day I played against a Bronze Terran who built eight rax and massed marines, then accused me of hacking because apparently you can't have four colossi with extended thermal lance off two bases at the 18 minute mark. The very next game I hit a Platinum who destroyed me.
Hi Guys, Sorry this a stupid newb question but this website is really clustered and i have no idea where to post a thread. Where can i do that? Thanks in advance -TheBossToss
Hi guys, I made a thread about presents for day[9] and it got closed. Why? It wasn't innapropriate and it was in the general section, No one was raging about it they were actually answering so why would it get closed?

The mods said:
Moved to blogs.
This because it is not really a discussion-like thread, more of a personal thing that _you_ want to do.
Then:
A Day9 thread might be a better place to discuss this.
Because there is already a Day9 fanclub thread (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=130507) and it would be kind of a "waste of space" to start a new thread when you could just post in that one.
Bad manner Master player Scamming people out of money. I Ran across Azure#254 @US through a friend of a friend. He cheesed 2/3 matches and got carried by his "trainee" who was MUCH better then him. He was VERY bad manner said "EZ" instead of GG and when I respectfully asked for a 1v1 he refused knowing I was gonna take him to Brood War School 101 He refused and continued to talk smack. He charged newbs for cash and cheesed his way to masters. Pls Ban his site and expose him!
P.s. His stats on his site are Diff from his stats In game!!!! WTH???? hahaha

I believe Line just made it through the up and downs and will be in code S next season.
Been wanting to go to an event really bad, is there anything in New York area? Been trying to find something but unable to. I found that WCG and IEM were in NY, should I be expecting them to return? Maybe some other event?

Didn't watch the whole video and my Russian (?) is a little rusty. Really nice choice of footage, maybe less stop and start with the music choice is my biggest complaint however. Solid beginnings though, make another!
Playing around with a switch to Protoss. Not sure what late game PvP generally looks like ("it never gets there"), but I guess it's mostly colossus War of the Worlds type stuff, right?
What I really need to work on (aside from general macro -- I am a gold scrub) is when to move out. watching over my replays I move out at really stupid times and just die.
Also, I need to see if my swanky new team icon worked.

Really random question: In an all-kill format, has there ever been a match in SC2 where one team wins 5-4 (or something close like that, doesn't matter) where each player wins one game each back and forth?
Like, take for example this pretend coL vs. IM match Nada > Nestea Nada < MVP Ganzi > MVP Ganzi < Happy Killer > Happy etc.
That's about as close as it gets, and it sounds super entertaining to watch.
I have been top 8 platinum for two seasons. I have been rank 1 platinum for two weeks. I am on a 8 game winning streak, 1 game against top 8 plat, one game against top 8 diamond, and 6 games against diamond.
This was a question I asked on /r/Starcraft but it got instantly downvoted to oblivion without a response.
But here's basically the thread reposted here that summarises my question
I've seen very few sources on how Koreans actually practice the game or even competitive games in general. While I know a lot of practice would be secret (especially when specific builds devised are best not known until you actually have to do them at the event itself)
But based on the things I've seen written on the whiteboards in videos of Korean teamhouses, I know there is some sort of practice schedule.
Can anybody give (even a brief) insight into how progamers practice the game, even if it has to be broad due to the fact that specific detials cannot be disclosed.
I noticed that a lot of foreigners (even those living in Korea) are criticised for basically grinding out ladder games and expecting to improve then.
Another thought is.... how does Evil Geniuses practice the game at the EG Lair? Do they straight up ladder? Do they have a think tank that tries to devise build orders? Do they try the Day[9] method of playing one style that suits them then thinking of slight deviations that may make it stronger against certain styles of play? Do they play a lot of in-house customs?
TL;DR - What does a Korean practice schedule actually involve?
I would have asked this in a separate thread but it's probably been asked on TeamLiquid already and I haven't seen any duplicate threads for it although they probably do exist.

Many teams do ranking games daily, which means you play everyone in the house for a BoX. Most teams have practice hours where you have to play, and possibly a curfew/wake up hours.
Teams like Slayers also schedule physical activity, I think the SC1 teams do too.
