Caster line-up: Apollo, Wolf, iNcontroL, Semmler
DreamHack is proud to announce the team of casters and hosts that will deliver all the action from DreamHack EIZO Open: Stockholm 21-22 April to the on-site audience of 2300 fans and million of StarCraft II fans around the world.
Shaun 'Apollo' Clark DreamHack is very proud to announce that Apollo has been signed for all DreamHack-events in 2012, having Shaun ‘Apollo’ Clark as our primary caster throughout the whole 2012 season. He had his big breakthrough as a caster during 2010 and 2011 and has casted all DreamHack-events in StarCraft II. Today he’s regarded as one of the best professional casters in the world and have casted for other leagues like IPL, MLG, ESL and IronSquid. He recently moved to Stockholm to focus on his career as a professional caster and will keep the Swedish fans on top of the StarCraft II action during the weekend.
Wolf 'Wolf' Schröder For the premiere Eizo Open, DreamHack is excited to present a new face to the DreamHack audience: Wolf ‘Wolf’ Schröder. For a long time Schröder has been one of the most promising and talented casters out there. In 2011 he established himself as a permanent caster for GSL alongside Tasteless and Artosis. Wolf has also casted several tournaments around the world. DreamHack is very excited, just like many fans have suggested in comments, to see Apollo and Wolf together – doing their first cast in front of the Swedish crowd. The new duo will bring the same magic as Apollo and DeMusliM did during their first cast at Stockholm Invitational last year.
Geoff 'iNcontroL' Robinson The man in control of the Interview Sofa will be no other than the professional American Protoss player Geoff ‘iNcontroL’ Robinson from team Evil Geniuses. In the sofa he will get into the competitor minds and give the audience the finalist’s thoughts. iNcontroL is one of the most famous and most popular players out there , a part of the famous State of the Game podcast as well as casting various show matches and tournaments. During day one he’ll be casting together with Apollo and Wolf giving his insight of the games in the tournament, but his main focus will be during the Final Show, taking command of the Interview Sofa where he will give you awesome interviews with all the play-off players as well as other professional players, eSports personalities and guests.
Auguste 'SemmlerTheRiot' Massonnat Last but not least, the host for the Final Show will be Auguste ‘SemmlerTheRiot’ Massonnat. Massonnat is a famous eSports personality and caster from the Bloodline Champions community but have recently been part of StarCraft II-productions like Assembly Winter 2012. He’s also a member of the infamous GD Studio together with James “2GD” Harding and Shaun “Apollo” Clark and is currently living in Stockholm to pursue his dream as a professional caster and host. He will be presenting the players and interacting with the audience during day 2 and also report live from the Twitch.TV Player Lounge and the Tournament Area during day 1.

I was at the DH event in stockholm last year, best ever, so hyped!
|
This is gonna be awesome, thinking about getting some tickets. DH events are always so well ran.
|
Awesome that Semmler's going to be there :D
|
Awesome! Not really many casters, so I hope they don't run out of steam after three days of casting, but the guys who are there are incredible. Great move by Dreamhack signing Apollo for the whole season, better secure him now because soon enough everyone will want him.
|
While I'll miss TotalBiscuit (and Day9 of course, but I realize he might not be possible to bring in for anything less than the big summer/winter events), these are all great casters. I'm really happy to see you'll fly iNcontroL over. He'll make an amazing host, and we already know he's a top notch caster.
And Apollo is always the right choice. :D
|
Will be fun to see Incontrol casting again, always a blast to see pro\s cast ^^
|
incontrol????? wuT O.o he's not competing?? :/
|
Incontrol is a caster now? good decision, sounds very cool!
no Day9 ?
|
Going to be nice to see Semler together with an actual crowd!
|
Wolf + Apollo = dream come true.
Incontrol doing the interviews should be good too.
|
Awesome line-up! Really looking forward to this.
|
Wolf and Apollo really awesome casters, Semmler impressed me at the ASUS ROG and Incontrol is always delivering. This is going to be great.
|
Good news all around, looking forward to this event.
|
Very happy to see Inc cast at DH, looking forward to watching this!
|
This looks great. Wolf and Apollo will deliver high-level analytic casting. And iNcontroL is a relaxed guy perfect for the sofa!
|
Great decision for iNcontrol to slowly transition into a caster/interviewer, would be a shame if the SC community would lose him only because he's not that good of a player as many other pros (he never was tbh).
And I hope we get to see his good casting. He is doing an awesome job at the EGMC, but his casting at the HomeStory Cup IV was TERRIBLE, especially together with Destiny. We'll see.
Apollo is a surpreme caster and Wolf is great as long as he has a good partner.
I'm really pumped for the new Dreamhack season. This is going to be awesome!
|
This sounds like it will be another excellent event by Dreamhack.
|
Dreamhack Winter was the first proper SC2 event I watched - Mana vs Naama game 3 will always remain one of the most amazing games I've ever seen. Every Dreamhack since then has delivered - technical issues were unintrusive, the casting has been great, the players great too.
I reckon this Dreamhack will be just as fantastic as every preceding one.
|
Sounds awesome, Apollo is one of my favorite casters and I enjoyed iNcontroL's casting at the Homestory Cup very much. He's very eloquent and always asked his co-casters good questions about the game, how they think about certain actions of the players etc.
I haven't seen much of Wolf except for his GSL casts (which were good), so I'm curious to see how he gets along with the two others.
Also great to see the huge number of additional streams to ensure an optimal coverage of the event. I've watched all Dreamhack tournaments since winter 2010 and am still impressed how much more they could implement in each one (huge arenas, casting couch, heart rate monitors, multiple streams etc.). Looking forward to it!
|
Omg this is sick!!! :D :D
|
Good list of casters and hosts. I do hope Geoff brings his sarcastic humour to the interview sofa! Cant wait!
The only one im missing is 2GD, but I guess he is busy. Can you guys imagine what would happened if you put Geoff and 2GD on the sofa? I think the universe would explode!

Like the casters but I admit I feel a little bit off that khaldor won't be with wolf, I can never imagine one casting without the other thanks to GSTL and code A.

At Homestory Cup 4, Incontrol, Destiny and 2GD did a cast together.
|
that's one very cool host!
|
Apollo and Wolf will be an excellent casting duo. Can't wait. iNcontroL will also be funny to watch/listen to.
Although i'd like Stephano as host instead of Semmler. ^^ "Hellu and welcum tu ze Dreamhaxx two zousand zwelve, i am ur huust Stephano".
|
i just don't like wolf, think he sounds way too much like artosis. doesn't seem to have his own style. But I am super excited for Apollo as usual and I can't wait to see how well Incontrol will do, i hope for the best!!
|
Apotrol? sounds like a good name
|
No TB? Shame. Happy to see Incontrol there though.

I have to admit, that this cast was by far the worst cast at the event.

Incontrol for the sofa and apollo/wolf as casters sounds great but I agree on 2GD, both surprised and disappointed that he's not the announcer or whatever. Guess he's busy or something.

|
this is sooo good. Wolf did in my opinion the best job(with kaldor) at ipl, and appolo is amazing. And incontrol is amasing too, dunno who the other one is tho.
|
Oh god dreamhack I love this lineup, wolf has been deserving to cast at major events for a long time, and I love that after IPL4 he also gets to cast this event now. Apollo is hands down the most knowledgeble eu caster out there and iNcontrol has a current pro is also really nice. Semmler as a host should be a lot of fun, he is just a great and funny guy.
But the best part is: For the first time since forever totalbiscuit is not part of it, and once again I can actually enjoy apollo's casting without tb saying stupid/obvious stuff and repeating what apollo said. The fact that this is the secound event were I expected to see TB and he doesn't show up in a row, and I couldn't be happier. I have no problem with him as a person, he seems like a nice guy and I love what he does for esports with his tournaments and the sponsorship for bling, but I just can't stand his casting and watching starcraft muted is only half the expirience.

Great news, Apollo and Wolf sounds very good.

Hey guys!
Appreciate the excitement, I am thrilled for the opportunity. A few of you did what was predicted and started to draw conclusions from this that aren't necessary. It's a weekend gig. Something I wasn't going to travel to as a player but was offered the opportunity to shine in other ways so I took it because I love everything about SC2.
Eventually I will transition out as a player and into a hosting/coaching/interview/commentating role but that isn't now. That doesn't mean in the future you won't see me doing more things like this.
I promise to do my best to make this DH the best one yet!

Wolf, Apollo and Incontrol are awesome casters and I will most definitely watch this.
|
INCONTROL! Fuck yeah the interview sofa was great last time and it just got a whole lot better!
|
All great casters with good knowlage of the game! Good player pool as well. Will be a good event
|
nerdgasm so hard right now. DH is always the best tournament in my calender.

<3 DH and good on ya Greykarn, Hellspawn n the rest for giving iNcontroL this chance!

Can't wait for more casting from you, you did an awesome job at homestorycup.
We welcome you to sweden!

YES. Wolf and Appolo are the best casters besides Tastosis. Great move.
|
Big fan of iNcontrol as a caster, and even bigger fan of Wolf.
|
Nice too see Apollo, Wolf and Semmlar there. Really looking forward to seeing Apollo cast with Wolf.

This is going to be so good, can't wait! Got my ticket and everything so will be visiting Kungliga Hufvudstaden for the first time in almost 15 years!

Hmmm considering buying a ticket for this, mainly because I want to meet some pros irl, a couple of autographs/pictures would be so sick o.O
|
It looks promising! i'll will check DH out for sure.
|
Great news about Wolf and Apollo - two of the best casters.
I don't see the point in having a controvertial figure MCing the whole event however. Just like Takesen at HSC, you want the centre figure to be bland and placid, liked by everyone but not love/hated. Its nice to see Incontrol move to a line of work more suited to his abilities, but I don't think its a smart move to pick someone with a fairly large amount of haters aswell as loyal fans.
|
You can never go wrong with Apollo. Cool to see Incontrol casting aswell!
|
NICE. I love geoff's casting.
|
Cool to hear about Wopollo (Wolf and Apollo) casting together. However i am slightly worried that their casting styles are too similar - not to mention their hair, voice and general appearance!
|
wolf + apollo is ridiculous!
|
Yay incontrol and apollo!
|
DH has always been fantastic. Good caster line-up!!
|
Nice line-up in general, just wish 2GD would do the sofa bit
|
|
wait, Wolf's first name is actually Wolf? I never realized this. that is awesome.
really solid line up of casters and hosts. excited to see incontrol hosting and such. much improved from that guy at dh winter.
|
Wolf + Apollo = too much quality analysis for one casting package to contain?!?!
I look forward to this. Sort of surprised to see IncontroL flying out there, and I haven't heard of Semmler before. I'll be curious to see how this turns out.

TB has/had alot of haters aswell, but IIRC he was overwhelmed by fans at DHW11. I guess the trolls don't have the balls to say anything to them in person, it will be a successful live event. Haters gonna hate on the internet though.

So excited about getting to see Incontrol live, fuck yeah.

This casting lineup is amazing, definitly going to have to tune in to see some good casting!

Sound like a nice dreamhack event again.

You're awesome as a player, but holy shit you're easily the best coach in the world, and one of the tip top casters as well. I'll looking forward to seeing you there. Welcome to Europe too! This is the first trip over right(?)
As a taste here's one of the funniest games yet casted by incontrol
+ Show Spoiler +

who is this semmler? he appeared from nowhere and i cant find anything about him. i know he is with GD and stuff but nothign else.

a host position looks kind of redundant Incontrol could do it when he is in charge of the sofa
|
Looking forward to see Incontrol doing interviews, he has the right humor to do that! And more Wolf is always nice!

When it says Day 2 Studio Only, does that mean those matches are not going to be streamed?

He comes from the Bloodline Champions community. He moved to Stockholm from USA (I think) to work in the "GD Studio" together with 2GD and dApollo.

Apollo, and Incontrol
|
Apollo casting is reason enough to watch any tournament. With some great players and some who could make a break out perfomance this should be awesome.

well ill be having fucked up sleep schedule to watch this since cant watch MLG. you got my support!

This event looks great with Appolo and Wolf as casters, imo currently the best casters out there, and Incontrol is also a pretty good bonus caster. And with the free streams and all it's looking even better. Now they just need to announce a few players and we're gonna be set for an awesome tournament!

Well, some of them have already been announced; http://www.dreamhack.se/dhs12/2012/04/04/eizo-open-stockholm-first-players/ but I'm really looking forward to the announcement of the rest of the players.

Ahhhh.... I was hoping for Day9. Oh well. I like Apollo even though he judge player little too early and favor more known player in casts but he is overall very good caster. I'm surprise to see iNControl as a caster and not a player. Interesting.
|
Funny, Incontrol goes to Dreamhack in Europe, and Grubby goes to MLG in America. I have to say, normally I like when events have more casters to rotate in, but with this sick line-up it should be good!

I love that Incontrol is casting. His casting during Homestory Cup with Destiny was hilarious AND insightful.

I still think Eizo has the worst/cheapest logo ever. But can't wait.

From a reddit AMA: "I'm not a big fan of myself hosting, I've arranged DreamHacks host for 2012 and its not me, if he fails I will do cameo appearances."

incontrol casting?
Momma like! DApollo with iNcontrol is lovely!
|
Apollo is probably the best caster out there right now. Spot on analysis, able to distinguish essentials from superficialities .. sees the map, understands the game-flow, knows what is important for viewers RIGHT NOW and able to put it forward in a casual "talking among friends" kind of way. Plus he has an absolutely gorgeous English accent. Where Artosis can get too bogged down in details, Apollo nails the heart of the action. Pure talent. Pay him liberally, cause he deserves it.
So pleased!
You go Apollo !!
Now, if only Dreamhack could get a seasoned Korean observer too (no one single observer outside of Korea knows how to observe sadly), I would be in heaven!

I have to say, normally I like when events have more casters to rotate in, but with this sick line-up it should be good! How curious that grubby finds himself on the player roster for this very Dreamhack as well as the casting for MLG. Something does not add up here.. I was wondering about that as well, wondering who got it wrong. I'm guessing Grubby won't show up to Dreamhack
Grubby won't show up to Dreamhack indeed.

I like that Semmler is going to do the presentation. Handsome, smart, fluid in english : a perfect frenchman !

Wolf, iNcontroL, Semmler forgotten Gatrope ?? terrible drama incoming 1/10
|
|
Looking forward to see iNcontroL cast, he always make me laugh cus he has a great sense of humor.
|
damn..... id rather see TB than incontrol making his european jokes that are not funny... Nice to see wolf tho! Will be interesting to see Wolf/Apollo they are both so technical casters will be interesting + i think they can develop some chemistry.

Since when is Incontrol a serious caster?
One would think that you'd bring someone like Husky or DOA or Day9.

I'm not saying he's good or bad, but doing good PR does not automaticly mean you're a good caster ;P
OT: This is really awesome news! I think iNcontroL will be an excellent host as he's got a great personality, great insight into the game and he does fantastic interviews. Apollo and Wolf are both awesome on their own and I really hope they go well together as a team and this should be one of the best casted tournaments I have ever had the pleasure of watching!

So Sad that HerO won't be there!
|
So MLG will be 30(15 for some) dollars and this will be free? I'm all about supporting E-Sports but right now I'm broke so I guess DH it is.
|
And for people wondering why they haven't signed Day9 and others for this event, this is not nearly as big as Summer/Winter, and will most likely never be. Signing (example) Day9 would be incredibly difficult for anything but the huge Summer and Winter-events. Simple because these Opens aren't as big. And Day9 is bizzi.
See ya at Summer.

Dreamhack > MLG, and its for free!!!!!!!!

I just bought my tickets to go to Dreamhack Stockholm. 200 SEK for two days of live starcraft action and a chance to meet the pros? So worth it.
|
I know iNcontroL wants to be a player as well as a caster...but god do I get excited when he casts.
|
|
Awesome!
DH delivers again, while MLG disappoints again.

I'm glad Apollo won't be matched with a play by play caster as that often brings out the worst in his casting.

First glance I'm lovin the casters.
I'm soooo glad to see Apollo casting, he is by far one of the best casters out there imo. No TB makes me sad as I love their duo casting. Wolf casting? Personally can't stand him but hey its an opportunity for me to appreciate his casting.Glad to see iNcontrol getting a bit more time casting. I'm sure EG wasn't going to send him to compete so this way he at least gets to go to Europe and gain overall exposure. I'm still worried that this may lead to him casting full time rather than competing.

TB I actually prefer you solo. Have nothing against you. It's just my feelings as a consumer. But maybe it was wrong of me to express my feelings in the matter.

Edit: Sad panda because of TB missing

Excellent casting line-up, although I don't know much about SemmlerTheRiot.
Regardless, looking forward to an excellent tournament with excellent commentary!
