Stephano viOLet Group 2: TaeJa SaSe Group 3: Bomber MC Group 4: PartinG Squirtle Winner: Squirtle On May 25 2012 08:33 roymarthyup wrote: EDIT: im seeing stephano, MC, and lastshadow as the 3 highest skilled players here. LastShadow over Squirtle? Really? So this is how far we've come with the fanboyism. If LS makes it out of the groups, I'm gonna send you an apologetic PM. Not gonna happen, though. I'm not saying he's a bad player, he just has very little experience.

i for one could care less if player x gets invited over player y in a tournament, a good player will always find a way to showcase his skill regardless of what tournament he gets invited to, if its not this tournament it'll be the next one. im actually excited to see some new blood within the competitive scene, makes it much more exciting and im sure everyone is curious to see how well they stake up against high level players edit: oh yea and my picks are: GanZi Illusion Stephano < Violet < Group 2 Sheth Taeja < Thorzain SaSe < Group 3 Bomber Ostojiy HuK < MC < Group 4 Ret < LastShadow PartinG Squirtle < with ret winning it all unless he runs into stephano

Do you think it has got something to do with players' psychology? eg Socke always does well at MLG's and Ret has already won a Red Bull event?

Im not even gonna bother to name Protoss and Zerg players cause...good god. My predictions: Stephano/Violet Thorzain/Sase MC/Bomber Squirtle/Parting. I think a zerg will win the whole thing tho.

It's a nice change for once to see some new blood in a tournament setting like this where they are guaranteed at least 6 maps(?) instead of some bo1 single elimination bracket. Tbh, I'm getting kinda sicked of seing the same players over and over at every invitational. And people are so hypocritical. When tournaments get announced you see so many people whining about how there is only the same players getting invited, no chance for "randoms" or less skilled players to break into the scene because they never get the chance to play in tournaments etc, and when it happens they whine again because the players of choice doesn't suit them. I'm looking forward to see "lesser" players like Illusion, Lastshadow and Ostojiy this weekend. Loosen up people! =)

You can't tease like that! the issue is invite tournaments itself invite only tournaments are like the biggest bullshit in history just look at last mlg spring arena do you think tefel or bly wouldve EVER gotten an invite? yet they qualified and beat players like huk and ret and get the exposure they DESERVE because they EARNED it. i dont want to see the same players again playing all the time in all the tournaments, i want to see the BEST players play in the tournaments because they EARNED their spot through qualifying (aka playing well, not having a reputation). if there would be only invite tournaments the scene would became very stagnant very fast..

This, and the fact that qualifiers are not hard to run, with plattform like regame or playhem out there. In fact, you don't even need to cast all of them or give a shit about it at all, as seen in the IPL events.
