I don't think he should be allowed to give analysis on pro games.... he doesn't provide much if he admittedly can never get into plat league. By the same token since you've never casted high level Starcraft you shouldn't be allowed to give analysis of my casting. Same logic yes? Both are full of fallacy.

I doubt these people even dislike your casting, they are just bored and looking for someone to insult. Just keep doing your thing and it wont matter what they say. Its obvious you care about the game and you have a good casting personality. You may not be a master SC2 strategist but its not like you don't know anything about the game and what you don't know you'll learn over time. I enjoy your casting so keep it up.

I don't hate him or anything, but I just can not take anything he says regarding the games seriously. The fact is he makes blatantly incorrect analysis in most situations, and puts question mark inflections at the end of 75% of statements he makes. I'm glad that at least he is not confident in the ridiculous things he is saying... It is maddening to the point of my girlfriend actually yelling at me to mute the game from the other room when he begins talking. I bought the spring pass, but I will not be buying the summer one if Rob is still casting in the same capacity as he has been lately. I love the way the streams are set up, and every other caster is awesome, including JP, who is catching a lot of flak for some reason. I know this sounds mean, and I'm sure Rob is a nice guy and everything, but there must be something behind the scenes that he can do instead of casting games. This is what you can do. Keep muting the stream or turn on another one. A lot of people like his casting. Quit whining.

In every other "sport" the commentators all have expert level analysis as they were former pro players or coaches. This is like me playing basketball outside with my friends and then thinking i have the skills to commentate the NBA playoffs. I know you have a great radio voice but that doesn't really make up for it in the slightest. So maybe stop focusing on sounding clever and get some games under your belt so you have something to say.

In all the sports I've ever watched you normally have the main commentator who has never played the game at the top level plus some ex-players (maybe only one) who gives the insight. Being a caster is a job and so is being a player - nobody does both very well (well, ok, maybe Grubby). btw, I don't particularly like TotalBiscuit (no offence dude, I don't mean personally, your casting style just isn't my cup of tea). It's got nothing to do with him being worse than me at starcraft. TB isn't an analytical caster, he's the man who brings the voice and the energy to the cast. He's plenty experienced enough with the game for that, IMO. I'm not going to ask him why Parting did X vs MKP, but his job is not to have those answers. P.S. Also, great lineup, I would prefer to see Day9 and Husky commentating (together would be best, love those guys together), but as long as Tastosis is there and some other decent casters (which is certainly surpassed here), I'm happy .

There are colour commentators who keep things exciting and casters who analyse things, they often work together. TB has admitted that he is more a colour commentator than analysis. Events need both types of commentators, they have to entertain the fans

In all pro sports they have both kinds, but regardless they were pros. In the NBA Jeff Van Gundy provides the colour commentary to his partners heavier analysis. Yet he was the coach of the New York Knicks and played in the NBA before that..... I just feel that casters should have some level of expertise to share with viewers regardless of the role they fill. Look at Day 9, D apollo, or Rotterdam - great analysis and great commentary with plenty of humor.

I think you need to look up fallacy. His point was, if not being a high-level SC2 player prohibits his casting play, then by the same logic your not being a high-level SC2 caster should prohibit you from critiqueing his casting. i.e. If you think he should be banned from casting for not playing at a high level, then you are banned from critiqueing his casting because you don't cast at a good level. Its all a bit irrelevant anyway since it just comes from a mis-expression - you have no right to "allow" him to cast, you just expressed "I don't like his casting" poorly.

Um no, that's not true at all lol. Nice attempt to sound cool because TB tweeted about you, though.

You clearly are pretty deficient in brain cells if you actually believe what you just said. There are actually alot of sports casters out there who commentate professional events who have never played the game. Hell there are even coaches out there who have never played the game professionally or even collegiately. One example being Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots who only played QB in High School but yet he's one of the greatest coaches to ever coach the game. One dosn't need to be good or play at a high level to know the ins and outs of a game at a high level. TB has a wealth of knowledge and energy he brings to his commentary so I think you really need to rethink this "opinion" of yours you tout around as factual evidence cause it's clearly just wrong.

However... you people should realize that negative comments about player or caster skill sound stupid, unless you are someone who ACTUALLY knows it better than the people you criticize. However (2) as a high level player I find it hard to listen to casters who don't know what they are talking about. Most people agree tastosis are/is the ultimate casting duo and this is because they try really hard and know the game inside and out from a player and caster POV. I think people who criticize TB and other, less informed casters, would have a bit less hate if the casters just spent some time learning the game better. Im not 100% sure but Wolf from GOM isn't high masters on korean server but he clearly has spent a lot of time ACTUALLY LEARNING the builds and understanding the game, this is why people like him. You don't have to be a pro but PLEASE show some respect for the viewers and learn!--- I know MLG isn't quite the level of GSL but they could do better- don't have people who know nothing "analyze" these games.... It's "allowed" by the way. As long as the caster has a good voice, doesn't miss action and doesn't exhibit his lack of strategic knowledge, I'm fine. If a silver level player could catch everything that's happening on the map and makes a good play-by-play commentary, I don't see what's wrong.
