Not a horrible blow to MVP imo. Never been on the Genius wagon and I don't think they need him for GSTL, DRG and DRGjr. can handle everything for them.

I dunno bout that Puma hasn't gotten worse, he still does extremely well in like every foreigner event. Alive has done pretty well as well (Winning ipl4 pretty good ) I am sure there are others I just forget what koreans are on foreign teams due to there being so many .

MC has won Red Bull and IEM WC for SK this year. Puma has won like $100,000 while on EG. I'm pretty confident both of them are as good if not better than they were when they first joined their foreign teams.

thats pretty sad, although it just felt like genius hasn't been the same after his big run through the gsl. Maybe something really got to him? Wonder what team he'll goto
I think I read something after GSL January 2012 Finals where Genius said that at the end of 2011 he lost motivation to practice SC2 seriously and only pressure (pressure, not support) coming from his father has "motivated" him to practice seriously in the beginning of 2012.
Considering that, I wouldn't be surprised if he will quit SC2 completely or join one of the more casual teams e.g. Absolute Legends, like HogUn did.

If he goes to Startale, the trifecta of Protoss will be complete. Although AcE did really well in the up and downs. And NaNiwa counts with the whole Quantic deal. And I guess SaSe if he ever goes back to Korea. So I guess the sexfecta?
Oh come on, this can't be serious. I will rage so hard if he joins some stupid random foreign team... -.- It's okay to have a few Koreans on foreign teams, but it is fucking ridicoulus that so many of them get poached. Makes the GSTL look kinda stupid, when so many top Koreans can't really play in it.
KeSPA can't contract GOM players for year, I don't think he would leave preemptively like that... Maybe he will just practice with a kespa team? Or he could just join a foreign team.
My favorite protoss for ages, since GSL Open season when he was chillin' with NEX, ahh thsoe where the days <3 He was a great protoss to watch back then and has always been fun to watch, i hope this isn't the end of him as he is one of the only Protoss players i enjoy to watch!

Not really. Violet got pretty good. Another one who I can't recall his name is rocking it compared to before. That's an unfair assumption to make on your part. Also, many Koreans join foreign teams for the fan interaction and tournaments, not the money.
I don't know id say he like most Koreans wants to get into an international team if he does go to EG it would be cool because it would be like when Oz was on FXO so he was FXOz so Genius would be EGenius.
aww, my favourite protoss teamless , i hope hes picked up quickly/already has a team, I've always found his games and his style of play to be extremely entertaining.
I'm thinking Fnatic since he'll get to stay in Korea and get a foreigner salary. I heard from somewhere he did not want to leave Korea. Best of of luck to him though.

Taeja, Violet, Ganzi (arguably), and aLive seem to be doing pretty well for themselves
Isn't Genius work/practice ethic pretty shit? IIRC I've heard him and others say that he isn't practicing that much and is playing other games and screwing around. And now when KesPA teams are in the game I can only imagine how every team in Korea is stepping up their practice schedule alot for better results so they can pick up some sponsors and stay alive in the scene when the teams from KesPA starts poking on "GSL" players. Maybe he didn't like this and is now searching for a team like coL where you don't need to think about practice and still get sent out on like every tournament?
Ninth post before we get this trashy comment. Progress? Not sure.
If he left for more money, that's only a smart decision on his part. It's his profession; his living. Surely he thought long and hard and made the better decision.
Really hope it's not money motivated to a foreign team, you see this all to often in Soccer there's more dignity in staying around unless its a lost cause
I say he is going to IM seeings as it has the big 3, even though it isnt the most accomplished team as far as GSTL still got some VERY strong players and coaches, I hope thats where he goes, I would like to see Genius improve, and maybe he wasnt getting that at MVP
On June 14 2012 01:27 Mackus wrote: Really hope it's not money motivated to a foreign team, you see this all to often in Soccer there's more dignity in staying around unless its a lost cause
It's called paying the bills... These guys don't make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on salary, there is no way at all you coud compare esports to professional soccer in terms of a financial stand point. If Genius is looking for a salary offer, then that should 100% be respected by the community. He is doing what he has to do in order to secure his own financial future and not worrying about whether or not he is going to ruin the chemistry for their GSTL roster.
It's only natural. I don't expect DRG to stay there for too long either unless MVP start paying him a pretty substantial salary. Travel support to every foreign tournament + big salary is honestly too hard for anyone to resist. Joining foreign teams has been "the thing" to do amongst the Korean players for a while now.
Mvp and Nestea will of course stay with IM because they are getting nice salary thanks to LG.
On June 14 2012 01:27 Mackus wrote: Really hope it's not money motivated to a foreign team, you see this all to often in Soccer there's more dignity in staying around unless its a lost cause
Dignity doesn't stock a fridge or pay the bills man. And honestly, if Genius was "lazy" when he was floating around in Code S season after season, I can only figure he has no special attachment to MvP as an employer.

That's right, he only plays 10 games a day. So a foreigner team would work.
That is very sad, and I can't imagine him leaving MVP for another Korean team, so I am very curious as to what foreign team will pick him up. I think he will be a great guy on a foreign team because he is one of the Koreans that has a lot of personality.

I don't know how many more people Quantic can afford to pick up. They picked up a whole team, including Illusion and Hawk & on top of that they picked up thestc, not to mention they're already focusing on their existing original line-up. That would be spreading really thin imo.
I like what GoSu.Mali said about IMGenius in terms of nameplay. That's so clever (: I always liked the old couple bickering that came out of DRG/Genius though T_T
Oh, and regarding whether or not players get worse when they jump over to foreign teams... I don't think they necessarily get WORSE, but their conditions do change. Although some players offer practice partners and proactive training situations with good coaches, for the most part, players are required to be self-starters which can be difficult for korean players to adjust to if they come out of a intense team house practice environment. Korean players are also generally less likely to vocalize their need for help so efficient communication becomes an issue too. There are also players who have switched over to the foreign scene who mentioned that it's harder to train because of the lack of consistent practice partners. It seems as though Korean players are less willing to train with players who join foreign teams, but thats just a personal observation that seems to come up in conversation from time to time.

I feel like this is only a partial truth. Some Koreans get bottlenecked by the pressure to perform in Korea, so you end up with people like Rain, TheBest, etc., who never really show good games. They just cheese 100% of the time in order to take as many games as they can. Not that cheesing is bad, but it needs to be thrown in...not your plan a/b/c. Rain developed much better after he moved out to Fnatic, probably because he was playing against people closer to his skill level? That's my theory. People like Rain/Violet, etc. will continue to excel at foreign tournaments because of this. They probably won't get many results in the GSL as another a result. What matters, though, is that they found their niche and have a salary to provide for themselves.

Seriously though, I see Genius crashing and burning and never being relevant again without a strict training regiment, he really needs some motivation to care. If he has that motivation, hes a scary player, but I don't think foreign teams will provide that motivation...
On June 14 2012 04:12 darkness wrote: Probably EG. If yes, it'd be stupid because EG is getting too many players which as a result weakens teams more or less.

I mean they have a roster of nine players. Most teams have less or some are hovering close to that, but I would love you to tell me how having ten players "weakens teams more or less."
Edit: After checking quickly... ST and IM have 12/13 players respectively and are still considered strong teams.

Having 3 players make it into pools from the open bracket at MLG is better than mediocre. Don't like how DRG and Genius are now separated like this But really, Genius might not join a foreign team, he might be interested in them, but without motivation, Genius might just become weaker like the time period between Blizzcon 2010 and GSL Season One 2012. A Korean team I feel will give Genius that motivation that most foreign teams seem to miss.
EG get rid of LzGamer Machine and replace them with Genius DRG. EG will be the strongest team in teh worldz. you guys just don't get it. Everything is actually a brilliant mind plot from Slayers. First, they aquire Genius. With him out of Mvp, DRG is getting lonely and is going to miss Genius. I think Slayers is probably the most likely team to sign Genius, maybe after Complexity.
That or EG has pockets deeper than we though because after signing Thorzain and probably Stephano in august, the amount of money they need to get Genius as well is incredible.

Thorzain is already out of ro16.. Huk hasnt shown results, puma is decent and jyp is slumping hard ( check his Twitter) and let's be honest all the other EG players aren't that good. Zenex however is an underrated team that practices way more than EG and in Korea. Do note that zenex killed tl 5-1 also.
Also genius ist even on EG so don't add him to support your argument

Zenex Life alone would all-kill that team.
"alone"? What's the alone for? Life is easily their best player, and I'd say both JYP and Puma have a chance of taking him out.
Sad to see him go. Him and DRG were like the best duo on MVP. He is also a great Protoss but I wish he would try and put himself out there more. He never goes to foreign tournaments. Mainly just focuses on GSL. If him joining a foreign mean Genius at more tournaments then I'm ok

A chance? Yeah, sure. Any top player has a "chance" of beating any top player. If you had JYP play 10 games against MVP, I'm sure he'd take 1. But if you want to say EG could compete with Zenex, you need to show that that they actually stand a decent chance of winning, not just an outlier.

Puma just rolled Violet and took a game off of DRG (also beat alive, ryung and inori). I'm pretty sure that qualifies him as "standing a decent chance of winning" against Life.
We have no idea how EG would do against Zenex because we have almost no idea who most of Zenex players are, but EGs top dog have posted significantly more results than Life.
That's sad. He was a big part of MVP since the beginning. I remember when he first joined, he was the only known player on the team... at least that had any success in sc2.
I doubt it's EG, as I think they'll be picking up Stephano in August and don't have the budget for both of them. 99% It would be coL, as aren't coL's KR players still being allowed to stay in MVP house?
My guess is Fnatic, they lack top Korean protoss and Genius isn't exactly the type of guy to want to travel around constantly to all the different tournaments.

no- it would be easy. Vile was able to do it with a ragtag squad of swashbuckling north-americans, im pretty sure EG could win that as soon as Life lost. Hes the only threat on ZeNex
I don't think he will join a foreign team.. but that's just my opinion. His english skills are really really limited (even amongst other Korean pros) and he didn't / doesn't seem too interested in the travel or much else based on what I saw and understand.

I could see Puma and JYP beating ZeNEX as along as they can take out Life, but hell, Line and TREME are relevant. ThorZain might be able to do it, but HuK? In his current state, no.

To be the New York Yankees of SC2 you have to actually win something right?
Don't get me wrong I like EG, but comon . . . all-killed in IPL by Monster - their results lately are not even mediocre.
You ought to watch some starcraft if you are going to start appraising a teams results. EG had three players break into pools from the open bracket at the Spring Championship, and although overall their results are perhaps not Yankee level, but to insist that they are not even mediocre? Stop drinkin the haterade.
Yeah 2 Koreans and they're newest pickup who outshines the rest of the foreigners on the team by a large margin, and lives in Korea. Except for their Korean lineup+Thorzain and Huk on a good day they are below mediocre.
On topic: Noo, DRG and Genius are separated This makes me a sad sad fan.. I wonder where he will go..
Sorry somehow your reasoning just still dosn't compute because those 2 koreans an 1 living in Korea are still on the team -.- how many players actually make it out of pool play exactly? Not many? Didn't think so and had it not been for the hectic schedule and poorly run tournament IdrA would've actually made it through into WCG as well so no I don't see how anything you said proves validity that EG isn't even mediocre

Puma does well in individual tournaments but historically EG is bad in clan wars. EG just got recently all-killed by their spons......i mean Monster with their best line-up.
Anyways gl to Genius to finding a new team and gain back his motivation to play the game.

I'm inclined to say that its this. I can't see why a player as good as him would just randomly leave a good team like Mvp. The odds of him going to a foreign team are quite low I think.
Ok, so barring military service, this is my reasoning for new teams: Liquid: not likely, just acquired Taeja. Especially with OGS disbanding, it seems like finances may be stretched.
EG: Just got thorzain, they're not due for a roster addition for awhile yet. The name would be cool though...
Fnatic: They seem comfortable where they are, they've got a decent protoss in Tod, but nobody GSL caliber. Especially with Alive on their team and with a korean house, it seems somewhat likely.
Mouz: No koreans yet, but they just lost thorzain. This seems like the best way to start IMO, my #1 pick.
Empire: Welmu is too new to the scene to be flagship toss. With violet + beasty/kas, they can be a sick team with Genius, dominate the entire Euro scene. Vines is good, but it seems Empire picked him up a bit prematurely, might have to wait for results there.
I don't think Acer, ROG, atn, or any of the smaller euro teams really have a shot at Genius. Possibly SK, but two S class protoss players seems like overkill. I'm still waiting for SKSupernova.

They acquired Oz a little more than a month ago.
Ah, I forgot Oz. Fnatic seems unlikely then, my mistake ^^.
I forgot to mention coL too, but frankly they've bought so much korean talent (no offense to them) that they should just sit and nurture what they have. Recently they got Nada, Ganzi, Heart, and Killer... I can't imagine they're in the black atm. My only reservations is that the coL-MVP partnership could have created some friendly bonds with the coL management. Still, unlikely.

That's not good enough for some people. Especially when you get that close and expect to win.
When you're talking about an immediate career, that's more than enough reason to not retire early and go to the military. You just had a decent accomplishment and earned yourself roughly $18,000. Considering, you don't have to worry about living expenses because you're a top notch player and any team will be more than happy to accommodate at least that, at the very minimum, $18,000 is a pretty comfortable bit of money. You can pretty much do anything you'd want to in a normal life for about a year with an extra $18,000.
Of course, it will be spent sooner and he will need to make more prize money, because that's how humans live, but winning $18,000 should be good enough for now.

If he were going into the military, why leave MVP now? He isn't leaving GSL this season and still could help MVP in the GSTL. So he obviously isn't going into the military right now. Doesn't make sense to leave MVP while still competing in GSL if he were going into the military.

You forgot Millenium and coL.
I mentioned coL a few posts later. I did forget Millenium, but they never struck me as a serious contender for any of the big players. I know they picked up dragon, but that was more of a PR stunt IMO. They've never made a bid (afaik) for any big players, both feast and stephano became top-tier after they were on the team for awhile.
To the guy that mentioned Welmu, I thought he was one of the guys that left Eclypsia with Desrow/Scarlett/Artist. I mixed up team order (he was Empire first, then Eclypsia), nice catch.

I think he would move to another Korean team, even under complexity Genius did not travel much, so it seems like he really wanted to focus on Korean competition.
And he isnt wearing any team jersey just now, if it was a foreign team, he would have worn a team jersey today and not that GSL gom tv shirt... Damn, as a Genius fan this is really excruciating.
This thing about Koreans getting worse on foreign teams is a bit silly, how many players are consistently in code s top 8 every season? The answer is MvP and only MvP. It is just that koreans in foreign teams have such a spotlight on them that we take notice whenever they lose. Puma is a great example, he is still one of the most successful Sc2 gamers so far. He has won a IEM and a nasl under EG, as well as a number of other good results. JYP was never a top 5 toss, not before EG and not now.
Hero, Violet and also MC are all doing really good outside of a korean team as well.

I feel that Coach Choi’s style didn’t mesh well with me. I left the team after long consideration. The coach’s and my personalities clashed a little bit too much. It’s not that I had a particular problem within the team that made me leave.[
When did you decide to leave the team?
I’ve actually been thinking about leaving for a long time. However, every time I tried to, the coach persuaded me out of it but this time, that wasn’t possible and the decision was made.
What plans do you have for the future?
For now, I will focus on GSL and then work on finding a team to join. I think I’ll try to find a foreign team.

I do love the ignorance your comment has. You're inferring you have to be bad at sc2 inorder to play LoL well let's see last I checked Fruitdealer is now in the LoL scene kinda and he is a GSL winner and such. Comments such as these only make you look like an ignorant child/elitest thinking that one game takes so significantly less skill that it's not worth even mentioning in the same category as your game which in fact it is. In both size of audience and skill seeing as how both games take a significant amount of it.

Right now i can't find the exact article in which it was stated but there is an official agreement that ESF players can't currently be acquired by Kespa times for some time.

Does it really make any difference? It's not like most SC2 teams will be able in 1 year to make up for the money those top SC1 teams have been making in all those BW years.
They'll probably end up acquiring all the current top players that they feel are worth it the second they decide to.

Fruitdealer became irrelevent in the SC2 scene pretty quickly after winning the very first GSL.

Yeah... You've picked a pretty bad example. It would be quite easy for one to say Fruitdealer's lack of success as the increase in SC2 professional skill level led him to seek an easier path in a different game (LoL)... Not that I'm saying that, but your example makes it incredibly easy for someone to.

This might possibly be true to some extent. DRG reported that Genius left the team house soon after the finals and wouldn't talk to him for most of season 2. It's sad.

Im not so sure about this. Im not aware of their bankroll compared to all other teams but I have noticed that a lot of pros that have been changing teams are electing for foreign teams. In some cases it could be money or just more foreign tourneys but in some cases (i.e. Violet) it had to due with the difference in lifestyle.
It will be interesting to see if pro players elect to go to KESPA teams when they can just stay on their current korean sc2 team that has a tough training regiment but not like the KESPA teams. Or if the current trend of Korean pros moving to foreign teams will continue.

It wouldn't surprise me if that were true, DRG really humiliated Genius, not just in SC2, he even went to give him an army jacket in his booth after he won, remember? That's a cruel joke to make in front of thousands of people.
Didn't Genius say it was an issue with the MVP coach? They "clashed" whatever that meant. He talked about it in an interview he did recently. Why are people still speculating if he's already confirmed the reason?

I feel that Coach Choi’s style didn’t mesh well with me. I left the team after long consideration. The coach’s and my personalities clashed a little bit too much. It’s not that I had a particular problem within the team that made me leave."

If anything I think DRG might have been one of the reasons Genius stayed in MVP so long. It sounds like this is an issue that goes back several months before even the GSL, and I'm pretty sure he had left the team house before the finals.
It wouldn't surprise me if a team like SK picked up Genius. EG is a possibility, but I don't know if they have the pockets atm for another investment. Hope he finds a good team, he's a pretty damn good player.

I doubt it will be Liquid or EG. Their rosters are pretty full these days and although Genius would be a sick pickup for a team they might not have the spare cash to lure him. I wouldn't honestly be surprised if he went to Quantic. They are picking up a lot of players and they don't seem as much as a team like the Liquids, EGs and Slayers so he could stay out of the way from others (won't name names) in there whilst picking up a salary.
Complexity is another possibility. I'd love a Slayers aquisition but that is highly doubtful.

So offering a "free agent" money to join your team in the form of a salary is buying them? Then more teams then just EG will be attempting to "buy" him

Both EG and Liquid really need another strong Protoss player. I'd go towards Liquid getting him between the two since EG will probably try and go after Stephano in August (unless their pockets are really that deep and they can afford going after 2 big players).

When did you decide to leave the team?
I’ve actually been thinking about leaving for a long time. However, every time I tried to, the coach persuaded me out of it but this time, that wasn’t possible and the decision was made.

The pay isn't the biggest thing for them I think because the team will pay them like 1k a month which is infinitely better than nothing. The free travel to foreign events is amazing and the real attraction for Koreans.

Foreign teams tend to have bigger sponsors, or simply MORE sponsors, so they have the ability to pay more.
i think that's only the gsl teams... im pretty sure the proleague teams have huge salaries
Oh, well yes, of course. I didn't realize we were at the point where we are including the KeSPA teams now when we discuss Foreign teams vs. Korean teams.
The last thing we should be rooting against is competition over player contracts, that's the only way that SC2 is going to become a better option as a full time profession. Players switching teams, or some teams buying out contracts and becoming "The Yankees" of SC2 is at worst a necessary evil. As far as the fans are concerned, if Genius joins a foreign team he'll most likely remain in the GSL/GSTL but also have the opportunity to travel to more foreign tournaments.
IMO it doesn't negatively affect the fans or competition at all, in SC2 there are plenty of teams with good players and no team has been able to use money to push itself way ahead of the competition. MVP isn't close to crumbling as a result of poaching. And even if EG got both Genius and Stephano, they could become a GSTL contender as a separate team but certainly not the clear favorite.
If we start to see many of the world's top players on one team then I think sure, we have reason to complain. Otherwise, I think it's good for the pro scene and I don't understand this presumption that somehow pro players are obligated to stay with the team that originally signed them.

ya sometimes i kick back and think to myself, back in my day we had foreign teams with foreigners on them -.- i am happy to see the highest level of competition at more tourneys though, can't complain about that. in a perfect world (for me) korean teams would have equal footing [salary wise] with foreign ones and thus be able to retain their players better edit: ^ and send them to places like MLG and DH.

the DRG pick is probably just for fun. As for Keen and Sniper, well Sniper, as we saw, is one of the weakest players in Code S. And Keen, maybe Genius knows his TvP really well and knows how to exploit it.

I think Koreans in general are just a little overestimated just because they're Koreans. Just because you placed pretty high in Code S once or twice doesn't mean you're capable of winning foreign tournaments. Not to offend anyone, but Genius, ForGG or SuperNova aren't players who just go and win MLG/IPL/Dreamhack. Genius for example tried his luck at 2 Dreamhacks recently and went out in ro16 and ro8. When they join a foreigner team they will most likely end up being another JYP, Zenio, Vines or whatever.
Now complexity have some 'salary cap' freed up with the loss of Nada :c perhaps they will pick genius up, it would give them a more racially diverse set of koreans then Edit: Totally forgot about Killer!!! Are they still missing a korean zerg.... perhaps I am just being dim.

Genius, ForGG, and Supernova could all EASILY take any foreign tournament. Easily. Alicia just took second at MLG, and he isn't any better than Genius. Sure, the ones they've went to they haven't had DRG or MKP like dominating performances, but they also haven't been to nearly as many foreign tournaments as them. If Genius traveled as much as DRG I bet he'd have won a tournament by now.

I remember Xeris one time mentioning that a lot Koreans have misplaced ideas of how much they will get from a Foreigner team (I think this came in a similar Sleep thread) and so they keep asking for more than there really is. I mean, I'm guessing that Genius is looking for a forigener team and none of them are able to agree on a salary.

That tweet seems fairly conclusive...well grats Mouz and Genius! While I think a Terran or Zerg would have been better for depth's sake, you can't pass up a skilled Korean like Genius when the opportunity presents itself.
I'm just worried about him practicing. He was having a hard time practicing even when he was on a Korean team...I find it hard to believe his regiment will get any better on a team based thousands of miles away. Hopefully he can stay focused. He's proven he doesn't need as much practice as the next player, but that line of thinking can be a slippery slope...just look at FruitDealer.
Happy for Mouz if they did pick up such a strong player, but also a bit sad that they weren't able to continue to be the #1 koreanless team around. I guess losing Thorzain and MorroW did put a big dent in their line up
Ehhhh it seems fairly confirmed that it's Mouz that's gonna pick him up. On one hand it's a great pickup, on the other hand I really liked Mouz because of the fact they didn't depend on their Korean mercs for their wins...
Well congrats to both if that tweet is what we think it it means.
Maybe I'm biased because I'm such a fan of Genius but I've felt bad for him. I kinda guessed that his team probably supported DRG more. It makes sense to a certain degree, because he is winning a lot. But you can't ignore when your other teamate also did very good.
I want that to be true! WOuld be nice for Mouz to be a powerhouz again and Mana is already one of the best foreign tosses, what'll happen when he has a practice partner like Genius?
WoW, think of the fact that Mouz now has Genius, Mana and Hasuobs... pretty much strongest protos lineup for any team.. ever Mana + Hasu weren't really at the level of Naniwa/Sase or Parting/Squirtle or MC... MC, but now with Genius added to the list i can't think of a "better" protoss lineup ( i say better with quotes since i obviously know nothing about x unknown korean protoss pro gamer that might be on one of the B teams and still hasn't made a name for himself but its actually a god ).

Their protoss lineup isn't nearly as good as StartaleQ's or even just startale's.

Also, IM's Protoss lineup is getting sick as well with Seed, Ready, First, and Yonghwa.

You mentioned 2 players that are part of a much superior protoss lineup team. Squirtle, Parting, Ace - Startale. Not enough? Take Slayers: Crank, Brown, Alicia and Puzzle. On a very similar level to current Mouz line up would be Fnatic: Nightend, Oz, Tod. IM: Seed, Ready, Yonghwa (likely still superior).
Mouz certainly has more "star" power, which is basically foreign exposure and recognition, but skill wise, half the Korean teams match or beat that protoss line up alone. The other side of the coin though, they likely do have a better protoss line up than half the Korean teams as well. That being said, if Mouz goes up against any of those teams, I'll be rooting for Mouz.

oh yeah, Prime's protoss lineup is also better.....

Nightend and Tod are not better than Mana and HasuObs. Tod may be the most over rated player in the game.

Don't know, might be true, never claimed they were better either though.

StarTale's Protoss would like a word >_>
And on that note pretty much every Korean team... even Prime's solo Protoss line of Creator. Maybe the best western Protoss line-up, but you can't really say its western with Genius there now.

Last top team without korean... don't break the tradition.
What tradition? mousesports had Koreans and Chinese players in the (WC3) past. Only difference is that I trust mousesports to not marginalize Non-Koreans out like other teams.
No real reference to the term "genius", which was clearly a hint about the announcement. They could still have been announcing the announcement of something else.

Since EG doesn't have a LoL team (that I'm aware of), this accretion makes sense.
I hope he isn't joining Mouz. I always liked that Mouz was the only top team that remained foreigner only. Also if they have to pick up a Korean there would be a lot of players I'd rather see instead of him.
It totally does... EG takes players as soon as they start to play well and get some accomplishments. Fnatic doesn't do that.
They sure as shit have, at least recently. aLive and Rain built up their resumes on TSL and then went to Fnatic. Oz built up his resume on FXO and then went to Fnatic. Moon and Byul are really the only players that have developed while on Fnatic, the rest were established talent that Fnatic picked up.
They're no better than EG when it comes to that, don't delude yourself. And you really shouldn't blame them. With all these high-quality Koreans teamless or looking for more out of their team, these managers would have to be fools not to pick them up to bolster the roster. Whether or not they provide the correct atmosphere for them to keep improving is another matter altogether, and one many foreigner teams seem to not understand.

Really not Moon even, Moon is my favourite player but he already had Code A status prior to joining fnatic at the beginning of SC2, and he was runner up in Dreamhack Summer 2011 I believe (behind Huk) while he was on WMF.
People just like to hate on EG for no apparent reason.
