We're very pleased to announce today that our good friend TT1 is officially becoming a member of the ROOT Family today!
Payam "TT1" Toghyam has always been a member of our team at heart. Payam lived in the ROOT House while we were located in florida, alongside drewbie myself and fenix and our friendship extends for a long time now.
Payam, KiWiKaKi, Fayth and SLush are always bugging everyone else by talking in french at events as well, there is no better fit for our team than TT1.
here's a picture at IPL, we decided to have a ROOT picture with the atendees, after ROOT had disbanded the team always remained in our hearts, you will find SeleCT and TT1 jumped in the picture as "Honorary ROOT" instantly, no one objected, of course.
(TTOne on the far right)
TTOne represents one of the strongest protoss players in North America, currently qualified for the NASL Playoffs in season 3 in an incredibly hard group. Lately Payam lost some motivation, we have been discussing for a while him joining ROOT Gaming, i'd dare say for years. Since ROOT Gaming remade, Payam expressed his desire to join us and today, as he parts ways with mTw on good terms, Payam is finally free to fullfill his, and our desire.
When I asked him:
"Are you sure you want to join right away? you don't want to look arround? im sure you can get some good offers he replied: fuck other offers, I need to regain my passion, I need to play with my friends and improve."
Here's what TT1 said about him joining ROOT Gaming:
"Hello everyone o_o, for the most part player interviews are extremely boring so ill lay down some real talk instead of giving a generic statement on how happy i am to join root. Im a player who has alot of pride when it comes to gaming, i love seeing foreigners beat top korean players at big events but ill be honest, as much as it makes me happy i also cant help but to feel a bit envious whenever i see stuff like that happen. I dont play SC2 just to be another forgotten player once my career is over, i want to have my name remembered. My personal goal as a gamer has always been to gain the community's respect and most importantly that of my fellow comrades. The thing with root is that its more of a family as opposed to a team, ive known alot of the members for a long time and theyre very close friends of mine. Im positive that surrounding myself with alot of my brothers will help give me the extra boost that i need to achieve my goals.
We're currently in the process of building up our team but i can promise you that once we have all our wheels rolling we'll make a name for ourselves not only in the NA scene but in the international scene aswell. Please keep supporting ROOT and all of our players! I promise we won't let you down, luv u guys <3"
So again, here at ROOT we are extremely happy to have TT1, where he belongs. Welcome Payam!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyways, i will be rooting for ROOT looking forward to seeing awesome games from TT1 and the team as a whole, i've been pretty impressed with some of the NASL games this season

Congrats TT1! When did he leave mTw, or was this a transfer?
mtw wanted to add a few extra clauses to my contract (they could update my contract midway through it) that i didnt want to fulfil so we decided to part ways
Toot le fruit le ROOT, lots of people on ROOT now but still need a terran or two to fill out the roster but looking like an exciting team for team leagues like TAC and NASTL. Like they have a lot of stylistic interesting players so they would be a challenging team to play against
Congrats to TT1! Great addition to that team. They have a pretty solid protoss lineup now. TT1 is very underrated in my opinion. His PvP is really strong and he practices that matchup a lot. Hopefully people will stop giving him shit now. He gets a lot of shit for no reason.
I like the concept behind Root : a band of friends making a team together and f*ck yeah ! ... but I don't expect them to produce any result unfortunately, even though it would be nice that they prove me wrong...
ROOT doesnt even try to be as awesome as they are. They are just like "One of the best players in NA? Sure" "Two of the biggest streamers and GM players? Sure" "On of the best and most known casters? Sure". Ridiculous ROOT. Ridiculous

what kind of results? cuz Vibe already won wcg nationals
hmm TT1 says he wants to be respected by the community, but wasnt he caught for hacking before? I also know he has a history of bm on forums and such, slightly confusing statement

Like, 4 years ago or something and has been clean since...but feel free to still shit on him for it if you've never done something stupid before in your life

TT1 has served his penance. Let it go. He's legit now, and has been for a long time. Hell, even IdrA has cheated before, and two months later, people went back to loving him.
Isn't there just something heartwarming about ROOT? Everything they do is so cute but in a way serious. They are the local kids who played baseball in little league and are now in the pros. You just can't not support them.
Grats to TT1 Hope the guys in ROOT have a long term plan. If they want to be the best, they have to consider getting a team coach and potentially getting a team house in korea.
I feel unless he goes triple t an did TT anything as in ROOTTONE it would create a situation similar to what oZ had on FXO where he was only refered to as Z rather then oZ lol.

woah woah, baby steps dude. even well established teams like coL or EG don't have korean houses or coaches

Last I heard EG is still partnered with slayers and coL still lives with MVP.
If he switches Casters and fans will forever say ROOT____, who used to be TT1, or just say TT1. Stick with TT1, its a sick nickname anyway. TT1 fighting. Congrats on joining ROOT.

Gz i guess TT1 always felt like one of those players who is good but his results aren't quite up to his skill level and ROOT seems to have a lot of those players, especially now with the 2 new players they just added a week back or so. Really hope they manage to put some results out soon, would be sad to see this oh so awesome team remain without money once again

i dont think i would have gotten any offers because im not a very good player atm : ], anywho no one apart from the root guys knew that i was going to leave mtw. the only team that i wanted to join was root because it has a family-like team atmosphere and thats wat ive been desperately craving for in sc2 thus far.. its something that money could never buy

so the mtw guys didnt know it either?
of course they did. im bound by my contract, u cant just randomly wake up one day and leave ur team without having their consensus

I hope you don't mind me asking this TT1, but how was the team atmosphere in mTw? Was it hard being the only native English speaker? mTw never participated in team leagues at all, was it like mTw just gave you a salary and left you to your own devices? Did you practice with the other members?
On June 16 2012 10:33 Serimek wrote: I like the concept behind Root : a band of friends making a team together and f*ck yeah ! ... but I don't expect them to produce any result unfortunately, even though it would be nice that they prove me wrong...

I was thinking about team leagues (EG Master's Cup, IPL TAC, etc.). Vibe's result was indeed a good result
I don't think team league success (within reason) will be much of a problem for Root's current lineup, especially if they actively focus on it. Most top teams slack big time in team leagues, which is understandable given that team leagues (other than GSTL) are still not quite up to the individual league standard / reputation / prize money.

Well everyone in mtw spoke english so that wasnt a problem, when i was in europe i was practicing with dimaga quite a bit but ever since i got back home we havnt been able to practice because of lat issues. Instead all i did was ladder all day long and unfortunately i tend to get extremely demotivated whenever i get into these type of routine's because i start to feel isolated. Laddering all day long is easy if your in a team house because you can interact with other players about the game but doing so alone can be kinda tough depending on the type of player that you are. Everyone reacts to it differently.. i wish i could be a gladiator like kas but sadly i cant control my emotions nor how my brain works, i wish i wasnt such a huge pussy but thats life.
Thats why its important for someone like me to be in a team like ROOT. I could have earned a bit of extra money if i stayed on mtw or another team but i dont think i would have ever had the chance to reach my potential because of the type of player that i am. Whats the point of playing sc2 if im in it for a bit of money? unfortunately that took me a while to figure out ^^
Ahh nice to see you in ROOT. Even a year ago when you were in Fnatic and your prime in SC2 sofar. I always taught you were the most fit person to be in ROOT because you are good friends with everyone on that team. Anyways good luck in ROOT.
Will never forget the time you stomped 2 top Koreans in the World Alliance vs Korea team match.
Great news. Big fan of TT1 and always knew he was friendly with you guys (stayed at the house with you and Drew right?). Just another excellent player and personality on an excellent and personable team.
Gratz. But hey, that picture makes me sad. Chad Jones needs to be on Root. Needs to be... And Select is friendly with you guys eh? o.0
