Now the discussion begins, can the foreign players attain the same level as the korean players if they're to have the same training opportunities as them? Which players do you think deserve an opportunity to train with MaNa in korea? Which players have the highest chance of flourishing within "MaNas Lair"? Discuss.
Ex-polish BW superstar Draco turned general contractor is going over the construction plans with MaNa and his brother Funkay, construction of the new housing project should commence later on this summer.
MaNa will be releasing an official statement shortly. The housing project will be constructed in the suburbs of Gwangmyeong city and will be team Mousesports's official practice house. The construction cost of the house will be partially covered by MaNa's tournament winnings in assosiation with team Mousesports, the house has been dubbed "MaNas Lair". MaNa will be temporarily residing in the GOMTV house during the construction.
EDIT: seems like i have no credibility within the community, stay tuned for more updates from a more reliable source.
EDIT2: MaNa tweets.
"3m mouzMaNa@mouzMaNa
@iamTT1 already spread some news, we have the necessary gear. #MaNasLair. Can you recognize these boys?"
EDIT3: Mousesports's very own Kaelaris will be giving weekly updates on the state of the construction.
"44s mouzMaNa@mouzMaNa
We are happy to announce that @Kaelaris will be casting once per week the state of construction of #MaNasLair ."

While I support this plan, my real estate focused legal mind is shattered at the risks involved. That is a lot of money to invest, but it is a great long term plan. As long as they have a good plan. The plan is key. They should strongly consider renting practice space out to non-korean teams, if the house can support it. It would be a great way to off set the costs and allows for good marketing across several teams.

Mana won 11k in DH. Honestly that isnt much money to invest in a house at all, or am I totally wrong considering its Korea...? Are things under priced overthere??? Even with mouz supporting aswell I dont think it`s enough money, i dont know..and its not like Mana is straight investing 11k here..

It's rumored that after building the and stabilizing the house in Korea, he will go to Africa with Draco to make buildings and houses for homeless in poor countries.

Is that kids champagne in the bottom right corner? In a frying pan... with a trophy in it. And with Draco with some stick on his ear... It's a troll, cmon'... too obvious. 15k isn't enough to cover even the basics and I don't think the team is investing that much, building houses is really expensive. Nice pic though.

how much would it cost to actually build a house? short research on naver shows whole duplex/triplex around $400,000 to $1mil depending on size in gwangmyeong area.
$500,000 for 11bed/5bath, 2500sqft, not bad.
dh winnigs surely wont cover it, is mousesport that rich?
Are we really talking about building a new house from scratch here or building in the sense of putting together the hardware, furniture and establishing an apartment as a proper training facility?
Build a house might also mean rent an apartment, call it a practice/pro mousesports house and since it's maybe MaNa's idea and he does some funding it will be under his name and will be therefore called Mana's lair.. then using few k$ from his DH win would be ok with the help from mousesports.
If troll or not, this is totally possible and I don't see why it couldnt happen...

They can loan man, it's possible, and maybe with Draco helping it lowers the cost a bit? Same with MaNa, giving that money helps with the interests. Mouz could be richer than we think. Waiting on a bit more proof though.
i cant tell if massive troll or not, but Mana has won morethen this money in his sc2career so far and also his brother could have money or they may even of inherited more money you never know the ins and outs and if mouz and draco all contribute you have a few different amounts of money to be added!
just wonder what will happen when they want to sell if its split in different ways!

Excuse me for not believing everything, because of a couple of tweets (especially when Mana tweeted that he will be staying at the Gom house 12 hours ago) or TL posts.
It is just not realistic. Even though the organization Mousesports had never financial problems and has solid founding the risk of building a house for a huge amount of money is extreme. If we would talk about renting something, it would be a different story, but actually building one?
If I should be wrong, I gladly eat my words, because something like this would like a dream coming true, but until I see something official by the organization I believe nothing.

This as well.
The thing that makes this troll completly unbelievable is that they would construct a house for Mana even though he is only going to Korea for 2 months. On top of that: do you really think that they can start with a barren piece of land and have a solid practice facility within 2 months and then flip it again? It's complete bullshit and actually telling about the stupidity of people that they actually fall for this kind of crap.
Final nail in the coffin: Isn't anyone that believes in this fairy tale not finding it a bit strange that the Mousesports official website doesn't list a single thing about this?
Lol at = Evil and = Good. But seriously, this is very crazy news. Looks like they are building a proxy somehwhere in Korea. Gonna catch em off guard if they don't scout.
Yeah thats true MaNa's making own gaming house and the main sponsor is www.NetWars.pl polish community forum of Blizzard games. We make 55k$, MaNa's put into the pot some of his own money ( cant say how mutch, he didn't want to say that to public ), missing money assured sponsor's of MaNa and people who want to invest in those kide of a project .

My troll detector is going crazy but it would be cool if they built a new frat house over there. To believe or not to believe. I want to but right now I can't.
If foreigners train as hard as the Koreans against other top Koreans, nothing will happen in skill... they will have to train HARDER to CATCH up to that skill gap. That might mean 2 extra hours a day, better relationships (buy Nestea dinner once for an hour practice session), and listening to coaches.
Once there, they can train the same amount and be good if not better. Look at Naniwa... that man trains all day against top players.
On July 12 2012 05:56 Boonbag wrote: lol u guys got any idea how much land costs over there

renting = plausible, believable
this whole thread is based on building a house, no mention of renting or buying. buying will definitely not investment worthy unless mouse is also looking into foreign estate investments as gwangmyeong's property value went up 5% the first quarter.
(to buy) spending $500,000 + tax (~23% for foreign buyers) does not seem like a good investment just for a starcraft practice house. unless they want to make it into mousesport korean HQ or something.
but all this is moot because its obvious trolling...or hiding some other truth.
i wanted to believe, i'tll be awesome but
i dont nkow how much land would cost but if the house could be built with very low cost, as it is being suggested, it is possible. i can't say on this matter because i dont know how much it'll actually cost to build the house, less than buying i'm sure.
I'm not sure, if I can say this right now (well, it's not official yet), but as a representative of Netwars.pl (biggest polish StarCraft fansite) I can give you some more infos on MaNaLair.
Some of you, especially older BW veterans, may know Netwars for it's specific atmosphere, outdated website and very active and energetic community. We have done a lot of tournaments, fan meetings, talk-shows with pros, and even some fund-raising. Remember sending Yayba and Draco to WCG China? That's our work.
So we have collected quite a lot of money since 2009. Also we managed to gain some sponsors (mainly polish IT and hardware companies) to make our biggest dream possible. By that we mean MaNaLair, which is going to be a revolutionary project. MaNa and other managers will provide more information soon. All I can say now, is that Netwars.pl and it's sponsors will pay for the actual house and some of the player's gear. Other expenses, such as traveling, food etc. will be paid by players teams
There is a huge post on Netwars.pl about the whole situation, but right now it's not published. Only a small group of elite users know all the details. Sooner or later you will be able to read that post (both in polish and english).
For anybody that doesn't believe in my and routin's post: Remember HomeStory Cup 5 and MaNa plugin Netwars.pl? Well, that was a little glimpse of the future project. Also Tarson, Carmac, Nerchio and other main characters of polish StarCraft scene have been involved in this project for years. That's why they kept shouting-out to Netwars.pl
Also, some of you may have heard about Draco coming back to progaming. It has been rumoured that legendary Protoss is going to work for Ministry of Win Prohouse as a coach. He changed his mind, and decided to continue his eSports carrer as a player. Right know he is living with MaNa and Funkay (as you can see on the photos above) and practicing as hard as Komincz brothers do. Note that MaNa one of the best Protoss players in Europe, so combining Draco's talent and progaming experience with MaNa's SC2 knowledge we will get probably the most fearsome StarCraft 2 player of all time.
I'm glad to be a part of this community, which was able to make our dream real.

I think players with large potentials should be in this house. Players like Huk are good but have proven to be worthy and can make it to gsl code s ro8. I think ROOTCatz could be really good if he focused his schedule and played a lot. Stephano who is although already at a very high level of play should compete in code s because he would do really really well. Idra has complained in the past about the language barrier. With this house he gets the best of both worlds, TONS of practice and the ability to communicate with other players without having a language barrier. Also maybe they would allow Hobbs to stay there aswell i am sure his cat would like it xD. And lastly nerchio and sase both players that could benefit in korea to play a ton, compete at the highest level, and be able to communicate with other foreigners.
From reliable source I heard that Stephano might join the project, they are close friends with MaNa and practice partners too. Also Stephano himself announced that he's going to Korea, but never told where he's going to live. For me, pieces of the puzzle just started to fit. It's going to be awesome, foreigners having their own practice house in Korea, more comfortable than gom house, and not dependant to any korean team.

while this may be true for some players you have to realize that non-koreans have the added incentive to satisfy fans or get new ones for the sake of sponsors, which can only be a good thing for the e-sports scene.
But yeah, ideally most players have someone else to take care of all this PR crap for them so they can just focus on practicing..

Anyways, it COULD be true - suppose mouzsports is just setting up for a long-term foreigner house in Korea. It hardly makes sense as an investment for a single team, but as a hub for foreigner SC2/egaming in Korea, it has some possibilities. Plus which even if the house fails, the investment could probably be recouped by selling the house back into the market.

No information on the training regiment. No information on the training. They're building a house. Ok.
Here's why this is an empty action: Korea doesn't have magical dirt that makes you a top level progamer by standing on it. Or Pho. Or anything else.
You can have a training house anywhere and have the same results as long as you have the same dedication. I'm thinking that no one could be stupid enough to think that simply going to Korea will make you great at eSports. So I'm going to go with Option 2: This is a hype-vertisement.

We are extremely excited about the MaNaLair as it is an enormous step for the brothers, but also for the whole StarCraft II community.
Without further adieu, all I can tell you is wait for the official press release. To be continued.

Eh, I think this is kind of different. That was a team doing some bizarre shit for PR. This is a bunch of pros from a variety of teams trolling everyone for fun. If people are going to be pissed it isn't real it's their own fault. It's a TT1 thread.

People don't come to TL forums to be happy.
It's funny because it's true. Lol.
Anyways, there was that thread a little ways back where TT1 was getting beat on a little bit, remember? Somebody was like Beastyqt awesome and TT1 is for lulz. TT1 was there, commented, he got beat on a bit. Then the OP got heavily edited - plus I think pages 2-6 got chopped. So you could maybe say this was TT1's revenge.
Or what if it's true and TT1's revenge is posting to make people think it's NOT true?
TT1 you mastermind! All you need now is a long-haired cat to stroke as you laugh.

I don't care if I look silly. If it's real it's awesome and I will be pleasantly surprised. I just kind of doubt TT1 would leak something like this if it were real instead of allowing Mana, ESL, and mouz to announce it. I'll be happy if it's real, if it isn't, at least I didn't get my hopes up.
And based on what I've seen, Payam will take a joke/troll pretty far.

Without any deeper insight on the Korean real estate market i still say it would be way too stupid (building a house in a foreign country half around the world without any deeper knowledge and good connections?) and the second statement is far from being convincing. I believe in what i see or can't deny. If they are going to rent their own flat/house it would be believable. If it goes on like that it's a funny idea and i wish those guys all the best.

Gwangmyeong is under development. It makes perfect sense for preparatory plans to be drawn up, provided of course those plans are subject to later modification. Considering TT1's posts to this point, there is no reason to believe that is not the case.
As far as "reality" - what with influence, connections, &c, it is entirely feasible that a non-Korean investment into a gaming house in Gwangmyeong could be considered a reasonable risk investment.
People are just getting way too messed up in their heads about this, talking about proof, this, that, whatever. Frankly, it is not to be expected that internal politics and finance details SHOULD be made public. Those that are somehow expecting such details to be published are imo rude and unrealistic as it would be to demand that day9 publish webcam footage of the difficult situation he's now apparently undergoing.

Yeah, like in the first picture right? It looks like that time we did cheap website promo fotos for a company i used to work at. "Now look like you're planning something!" A risk investment would also only work out with some deeper knowledge of the real estate market over there and with all due respect, i still doubt it's at hand with the people involved.
I'd still like to say bad trolling but you made me pay some attention and post a couple of times, i was even close to check out the Korean real estate market. So yeah i gotta admit, i feel a bit trolled.
I don't even know the background of all this. Just when he mentioned that he was building a house in korea is unbelievable by itself. At least put up some pics of more monay lol
I talked to Draco and Mana as I think I might be able to help out a little bit as well. As it happens my grandfather owns a carpentry (is that the right word in english? Right now it's of course only looking at the options but with me staying in Korea anyways I'd be happy to lend a hand and help speed up the process. Looking forward to work with Draco as well obviously!

To those building the house: put in conduits and don't cheap out on cat6 for the computer rooms. Stick as many ports as possible. Get a good gigabit switch (not a cheapo 50USD type, get something that can has real backplane speed). Also, make sure you have enough power everywhere.

You're thinking of Seoul, Gwangmyeon is like cheaper housing for people who want to be close to Seoul but can't afford to actually live there.
This is either the best troll ever or the sickest, most ambitious team expansion to Korea ever.

Gwangmyeong-si is definitely cheaper than Seoul, but most of the people live in apartments because lands are still pretty expensive. I hardly remember seeing any house in this area, so I wonder where they are planning on building this house.

Although Gwangmyeong-si is cheaper than Seoul, the land is still really expensive like what you said. Adding in foreign tax which should be around 20%,the cost of building one team house is pretty expensive unless you have cables.

Why go saying things on the net that you'd have the sense and common decency not to say to or about people in real life. Like when you were in the same house with him just over a week ago? If you want to improve the scene you could start by worrying about yourself and the manners you're bringing to it. And stop whining in the guise of concern. Your examples of "what if everyone did this" are ridiculous because not everyone does do that. Are you actually dogmatically opposed to anyone playing that way? Everything you've shared sounds like a personal problem, rather than a problem for Destiny or the scene as a whole.

Something in me thinks this was a hilariously awesome drunken scheme cooked up at HSC. That or the most ambitious move to Korea we have seen yet. And Snute comment seems like a joke to me, people need to not take forum post 100% serious all the time.

Of course the Snute comment is a joke, it's way over the top. And I think you're right this was conceived of at homestory cup. It doesn't explain TT1's involvement, but Idra, Destiny, Mana, Snute, and Cloud have all commented too. I mean, look at the 11 edits TT1 has made. The whole thing is ridiculous and hilarious.

You said it yourself, Korean ladder.
So people would go at such lengths just to play korean ladder? Isnt it generally accepted that practice games with the same level of players > laddering? And if you assemble a good pick of players you can arrange practice games with some other top houses. Hell you can even pay korean houses for practice games and still have lots of money saved. The only real issue is participation in Korean bases tourneys.
First I thought it might be real even though I didn't understand the decision to waste the dreamhack money that way. Now all the edits cleared it up and made me LOL heavily =)
what makes me sad is that people think this is trolling, or did the word change it's meaning so drastically in the last few years? I liket it when trolling was not equal to joking because guess what we already have a word for that

The thing is, that could have been remotely true, like Bomber quitting progaming. That's why it's always disappointing (well reassuring in the other case :D) in the end.

Honestly TT1's track record combined with a house being funded by a player combined with unknown sources and the team not naming the house after themselves but after a player makes it pretty much impossible to be true.
Having said that I am surprised that as many people fell for this.

He needs more lumber.
He has all the lumber he needs, but his lumber stretcher broke and he has to get one shipped in.
