ASUS ROG sheds light on the two online qualifiers, which will determine 8 of the remaining slots for the next ASUS ROG StarCraft II Tournament, going live on August 2, and reveals the casters and hosts of the event.
With less than a month to go until the ASUS ROG StarCraft II Tournament starts at ASSEMBLY Summer 2012 on August 2, it’s time to play the two online qualifiers that we promised. As previously announced, the qualifiers will include players selected among those who have requested an invite to the ASUS ROG Tournament, and the top four of each qualifier will earn a spot to the main tournament.

ASUS ROG Summer 2012 Casters
This time at the ASUS ROG StarCraft II Tournament we are doing something different with the free HD streams. Instead of a stage or stadium feel we have previously aimed for, we are giving the lead to The GD Studio which will produce the ASUS ROGs stream, meaning a more entertaining and somewhat unpredictable stream is expected.
The caster pairs for the event are Shaun 'Apollo' Clark & Dario 'TLO' Wünsch Thomas 'Khaldor' Kilian & Wolf 'Wolf' Schröder
The hosts at the event will be James '2GD' Harding & Geoff 'iNcontrol' Robinson Auguste'Semmler' Massonnat & Salome 'Soe' Gschwind
Executive Ingame camera director & Editor and Chief of screen locations Michael 'Adebisi' Van Driel
The GD Studio Founder James '2GD' Harding statement about the production
We're extremely happy and not prepared to do a live show for ASUS ROG, Which is why we've invited as many good looking casters as possible in hopes to overwhelm viewers senses, which will distract them from any mistakes we make. Casters and hosts will also interchange rolls, so you will most likely see Incontrol commentate or TLO Host along side myself sometime during the event. Despite a very entertaining lineup of casters and hosts, We will of course be focusing our efforts to help tell the story throughout the tournament about the players themselves, so most of the production efforts this event will focus on this, as it should always be.

TB would unfortunately never work with 2gd.. too many conflicts from dreamhack.

TB has said that he's focusing more on a NA events for now and so on.. (He just got to NA or something) But yeah, TB+Apollo have been like in every Asus rog event? :D
TLO casting..? Wouldn't he rather be playing?? Well, let's see how that goes

Is 2GD that guy at DH Spain that spent the whole time flirting with that American co-host? Man that guy was a douche.
They should try to call the girl again on stage an let the crowd go crazy xD and then semmler throws out the "sack of shit" and obv love TLO for casting
I criticized you in a previous thread for having invites and no qualifiers, and later rejoiced at seeing that you are running qualifiers. But...

Why would you limit them to 32 players each? Why select the participants? This removes a vital aspect of qualifiers. How can unknown players prove themselves.

Prove themselves in other (online) tournaments in order to get into the selected participants? On topic - EPIC caster/host lineup, looking forward!

You need to consider the fact that from my understanding they aren't paying for any flight or hotel so 32 players is fine imo.

Wonder whats the prize pool? and will the winner get more than TLO for casting?
No wonder every player says they enjoy casting etc. One weekend of doing that is probably worth more than their months of practice and tournament winings.

Qualifiers. They're online.
Yeah i know rite? My point was that how many unknown non-sponsored players have the money to go to this event in the first place?

nice that there are qualifiers but still strange that it's a limited number for them

really hyped for this :3 Going to be my first tournament I'm going to see live!
I'm excited for 2gd+crew to keep growing. They have quickly become my favorite personalities - they even got me into following DOTA2 and Quake; no easy feat, given I've never played either game for more than a few hours.

what happened?
Nothing, it's just a drama-fest fueled by reddit not reading/watching interviews and just pulling controversial quotes out of context
EDIT: to clarify, something did happen but there's no bad blood
Nice lineup. Incontrol did really well in Dreamhack (which Thorzain won). Assembly has always had a bit awkward feeling with hosting, glad to see it fixed. Adebisi observing is really surprising to me.
~10 years ago i was competing in Assembly in counter-strike. God dammit why wasn't i born 10 years later when the good games are played

I imagined InControl to say that with whatever made up voice he can come up with, and then I started to laugh uncontrollably :D... haha

Semmler is awesome!
Truth be told, I wasn't a fan initially either because he struck me as disingenuous. However, after watching more TheGDStudio, I've come to realize that the awkwardness is just Semmler being Semmler (I don't mean for that to sound negative, I love awkward humor). Very smart move bringing TLO aboard as well, the masses here will definitely tune in. I know I can't wait!

iNcontrol, I really enjoyed your casting in DH and EG's Mastercup, but I do feel you sometimes fall into a habit of making jokes nonstop (i.e. HSC). Hope that I'm piling on or anything, I'm very much looking forward to everyone here.
such a sick caster and host lineup. hope the quality of players (and games for that matter) can keep up with them. the two funniest and most entertaining persons in all esports hosting (aka. 2gd and incontrol) is a guaranteed win, no matter what.
On July 12 2012 16:15 Xeris wrote: how does this qualifier work?? if you win do you get a paid trip? or if you win can you just get a spot that youhave to pay yourself??
The top 4 will get a spot in the main tournament. No expenses are paid.
Yeah she should get more attention for this. What a lovely person. She knows her starcraft and from what Ive seen she is very comfortable and relaxed. Awsome sauce!
I so heard Incontrolls demand in his weird ass german accent... freaky <3
I could scarcely be happier with the line up of hosts and casters, no Kaelaris but i cannot have everything. Great choices by the GD studio keep it up!
Oh, and Semmler. The event hasn't even started and it's already my favourite one ever. Just think about it - Semmler on stage next to a very talented and very attractive female. It's going to be a complete nightmare for him :D
P.S. Oh, I'm going to be at some stupid music festival that weekend... I hate summer.

more content. Also, Assembly/ROG tends to have pretty long days so everyone can take turns and keep it fresh this way. They could also give more live behind the scenes content and interviews this way.

thats unfortunate i guess
Maybe it's a stupid question, but why didn't you email an initial invite?
Actually, I don't think it's a stupid question. I'm sure the organizers would like to know what they can do to increase (pro) player awareness of their tournament.
Great to see Suppy qualify, Berkeley fighting! But I'm a little confused, what's going on with the last two rounds? Are those to be played on a later date?
