"Of the 40 OSL players, those who finish in the top four of the previous OSL are rewarded with what is called a seed. Seeded players are guaranteed a spot in the second round of the next OSL."
I believe that's where he is. In the next round... or the round after that, not 100% sure I grasp it yet.
And just in general for those asking for the format... or about pretty much anything about SC2, Liquipedia -linked up at the top there - is your friend.

For the non-KeSPA qualifier, OGN didn't have the rights to broadcast SC2 to foreign countries, and in-country stream was screwed up for some reason.
moletrap and I will be there to do some video interviews, as well as live updates along with GTR.

bleh. I don't know if OGN and/or KeSPA got the rights for this qualifier. All I know is, they have the rights to stream OSL (not sure if this includes dual tournament).

Dual Tournament will be broadcast. I don't think Sindorim has the broadcasting equipment for OGN to do a full-blown telecast but I might be wrong on this.

AFAIK They were trying to set one up, but something got screwed up along the way and said 'screw it, we're not broadcasting the qualifiers'.
Also, I was talking about Dual Tournament in terms of official English casting.

Can't really tell the level of playes in Bisu's group. If it were BW we would assume he would skate through. But he still has a good chance in SC2 this time based on his star power.
On July 13 2012 23:02 sharkie wrote: Is it just me or does anyone wish they had done zero seeds...
I mean its a completely new tournament...
Kespa wants to protect their star power to ensure viewers. Significantly less people are gonna watch an OSL in which there is no Flash, Fantasy, Jangbi, Zero or whomever.
If Bisu qualifies no one will accept this SC2 OSL as a real OSL.
Btw, TSL2 seeded players into TSL3, just like OSL is doing now. So step back before people start accusing OGN of trying to sell "stars". I would be pissed if someone took away my seed that I won after so much struggle.
And afaik KeSPA has no say in what format OGN uses.
On July 13 2012 23:34 TommyP wrote: So Jaedong, Flash, Bisu, and Fantasy are the seeded players like DRG, MC, NesTea and MVP were?
Flash, JangBi, ZerO and Fantasy are seeded because they are the semifinalists from the current OSL going on now. OSL always seeds the top players from the previous OSL. No different this time.
That's a hard group for Jaedong, not sure if he will make it out. Reality, M18M and Stats are very good relative to their peers.

Did you even look at the groups? If you did, you would have seen Jaedong and Bisu there, not seeded. Flash and Fantasy are because they are both top4 of the current OSL.
On July 13 2012 23:09 fabiano wrote: If Bisu qualifies no one will accept this SC2 OSL as a real OSL.
Bisu qualified for every single OSL from Daum 2007 to Bacchus 2010, 11 consecutive Starleagues in total. I guess none of those were "real OSLs" either, according to your logic.

Yeah i skimmed it, but didnt see either so i just kind of assumed.

No one really think this is a real OSL anyway. :D OSLless bisu 4 ever.
Might be a dumb question but is the GSL and OSL going to be 2 different tournaments with different pool of players or will the pros be able to cross from one to the other?

The OSL is open to anybody. For this particular OSL, they decided to hold different qualifiers for the GSL and Kespa players to give Kespa players a chance at catching up to the GSL pros. The qualifiers for the GSL players are already over.

I think JaeDong has a pretty good chance to pass his group. We'll see.
Wishing the best of luck to Bisu ! I hope he wins the OSL! This looks so sick to see these players playing SC2, I am so excited , happy, and sad all at the same time. (Sad because of bw.. ) But regardless best of luck to all the players, I just hope Bisu wins.
On July 14 2012 02:37 virpi wrote: Shine is not in Bisu's group - will he finally make it into another OSL?
and the worst part for Bisu is that there is already another player named Shine... would love to see him in a a GSL/OSL group with both Shines for maximum hilarity.

Hopefully Flash will have plenty of time to practice and make his much anticipated official SC2 debut a huge success although I wouldn't bet much on it... Crossing fingers!!
I think everyone should throw their predictions out the window, who knows how good these guys are at SC2. It's really going to come down to whoever has had the most time to practice for sc2.

that is the case
not only the BW players but also some of the SC2 GOM players
shits about to get real. and yes it is kinda sad. but obviously, going by my name, i'm still pumped. still sad though.
But i dont see any GOM player in there???
They already got a separate qualifiers. This is for KesPA's players specifically. Players from both sides will meet each other starting from the round of 16 in the actual tournament.
That's correct. The next OSL will be fully SC2. awesome, I've never followed the BW scene closely ( ya, i know FML ) so i'm very happy that i can see these players compete xD
Oh shit, oh shit... So many major figures aren't be able to compete in the main phase of OSL... t_t These groups are stacked! Like, each group needs to advance 4 players, in order to avoid key players being missed... So sad... and they better televise this shit, seriously. Damn.
so they gona start playing vs GSL players at the round of 16? that means the round of 16 gona have 16 Kespa and 16 GSL players? im kinda lost XD anyone has a link were i can read

Ro16 means there are 16 players, not 32.
It started with separate preliminaries for KeSPA and non-KeSPA players:
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_OnGameNet_Starleague_Season_1/Preliminaries/KeSPA -> 10 players will advance
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2012_OnGameNet_Starleague_Season_1/Preliminaries/Non-KeSPA -> 12 players will advance
This will lead into separate Dual Tournaments (ODT) for KeSPA and non-KeSPA players:
He will be seeded in for making the RO4 of the current (last BW) OSL. If he loses to Fantasy in his semifinal match he will be seeded into the the dual tournament, if he wins his semifinal match he will be seeded into round 2.
Glob dangit so many redundant questions and people not reading the OP properly -__- '' standard internets I guess
I don't think there's any way Bisu's getting through this unless he suddenly gets inspired. Or plays Terran maybe (I kinda think it'd suit him better). If you've watched his Proleague SC2 games so far he has been... terrible.
To address the OP, I can tell you that unfortunately this will not be broadcast..
Edit: Not globally at least.. I can't count out a Korea only broadcast but they didn't do one for the non-Kespa qualifiers.
I'm going to be on site doing interviews, taking videos, and trying to provide coverage. Do people prefer twitter coverage or just live report coverage?

Hey Moletrap, both would be good I guess.
Do you have any information already on how OGN plans to broadcast the OSL main tournament (Ro16 onwards + group selections, possibly ODTs?) in English to the international audience? Hope this is being talked about still, given the transition conference pledges to cater better to the international fanbase.
That guy in the orange shirt in the front of the scenery in the photo looks suspiciously like the old-school look of Larva[S.G] when he was in the OSL pre-lims o_O
This is gonna be unpredictable. As much as I don't want to see the likes of Stork, Leta, BaBy, JD, etc falter. I can't help but feel they might be overtaken by the weaker players. This is SC2 and not BW after all.

So this is the end of an era. When I first heeard about SC2 coming out I thought there is no need BW is great and someone told me it will be like super mario nobody plays it anymore but everybody remember it was a great game. What is still sad is that SC2 is not good enough to replace BW. Anyway good luck

Unfortunate that you feel that way, that just makes the end of professional broodwar that much sadder for you. If it's any consolation at all the big name pro Broodwar players tend to feel differently and have had positive things to say about SC2. I'm looking foward to seeing how they do in a couple months.

I feel the same way. The game isn't great, but it's not bad either. I'm playing it, but I'm also hoping it gets a lot better with the expansion. I'm having my fun, but nowhere near 'BW' fun.
I think for group A it'll be either Action or By.Sun (though Light would be a possibility, though more unlikely). From group B, either BaBy or Stork (the winner of Leta/Lizzy could do it too, though).
I hope Bisu can show off his skills in SC2, so sad after seeing him in MLG Kespa finals i thought he would improve better and faster. I still have faith tho.
Group A: Rain won 2-0 over TurN. Group B: BaBy won 2-0 over firebathero. Group C: Soulkey won 2-1 over Shuttle. Group D: Ryul2 won 2-0 over hitmaN. Group E: BisAnG won 2-0 over Mini. Group F: Classic won 2-1 over StarDust. Group G: Last won 2-0 over free. Group H: BeSt won 2-0 over Sin. Group I: Bogus won 2-0 over Crazy-Hydra. Group J: Flying won 2-0 over Canata.
