We are happy to announce that we have made our decission. As you probably remember this thread, we were choosing 3 gamers to practice in Ministry of Win.
Ret, Titan and desRow, those are three names of players that will come to Ministry of Win on the beginning of September to stay for three months and practice along the other players.
Who is also coming to the Ministry of Win?
- Destiny - 18.09 - LiveZerg - with TitaN, beginning of the September - MorroW - beginning of the September
funny that you said it didn't matter if you were platinum or lower and what count is your motivation, considering you didn't accept a single unknown player of the 50 applications

I hope things go well for him. Seems like the poor guy can't catch a break with living in close quarters with people ( The LastShadow & Maximus incidents )
I'm a little disappointed that the slots went to players who are already very established, but I do love me some Ret. Will be great publicity for the house. I'll be interested to see if this helps them actually improve, since Ret and desRow already have experience in Korea.
Well, I honestly didn't expect to get picked myself, altough I applied, but I'm disappointed with the pick... I would understand if you gave 1 or even 2slots to some pros with teams, but all 3? As much as I love Ret, I just don't get it why Team Liquid can't just pay the 500€ for his stay there...
Why Desrow over Major ? Major has so much more potential this was the perfect opportunity for him to breakout into the scene. While I don't hate Desrow and respect him for his commitment, I don't think he has the same talent/potential as a lot of other foreigners out there.
i love ret hes a great guy but he is a very popular streamer and has a great team backing him up, i dont think he should have got the free spot. i find it unfair for the up and comers to be denied a chance to prove themselves just because teamliquid is too poor to pay 600$ per month for this. pretty sad actually...

This makes no sense at all. If they can save money by getting him in there for free for 3 months why on earth would they pay 1800 Euro? That is a lot of money..

he had to pay for his own flight costs so he declined the invite

but this is only for publicity, its not actually helping the scene since ret could afford it.
Glad for the players that got picked, but I still think it would of been a much greater opportunity for three up and coming talents who don't already play the game full time. I doubt Ret and desRow will get as much out of it considering they have all ready been playing the game full time and in training houses in Korea, would be nice to see what some unknown talent could have done with the opportunity.
I'm very very happy for them i think ret deserves it so much! But you guys didn't take an unknown player? Which would of been good for him getting a chance like this. Oh well good luck guys! hope you guys gets some really good practice over there.
Lol ofcourse they picked the most known and allready acomplished players. Why not give new guys a shot? Like you said you could be from bronze to Grandmaster and all I see are grandmaster players which have allready made a name for themselves. Nevertheless hope to see some promising results come of this

Ret , Titan , Destiny , Desrow , Sage , Morrow , Livezerg and more good players in ONE HOUSE ??? In Poland ? fuck yes ! , now i have reason to go Warsaw... And he question is.. , can i just come , ring doorbell , and get autographs ? Or you dont let fans come there.. ?
Ps. MoW www site is superb .. but why you dont update it ? News are old... lack of new news..etc..
On August 23 2012 23:38 RaGe wrote: Must say I'm disappointed you picked desrow over HappyZerg
I fully agree with you. If they decided to pick best players Happyzerg outclasses Desrow alot. I know that Desrow has support at teamliquid but still I dont see him as a good addition. HappyZerg is really good and he can become as good as Nerchio and Stephano soon.
Despite the fact that I was hoping this would develop some future unknown talent, I can understand, afterall Ret and Desrow will certainly bring a lot of exposure, and TitaN will also bring his fair share of that, but still, Major would of been a much better pick than desrow mainly because hes an amazing foreigner Terran, and you guys seem to be needing one really badly.

That's not the point. Of course it's awesome for Ret and TeamLiquid that he will train for free and congrats to them. Also, it's pretty clear how this is good for MoW to pick better known players, considering their marketing... The point is that players like this can in fact afford going there and paying anyways, thanks to the sponsors they already have, while a lot of less known players willing to deticated their time simply can't afford going there and paying for it without having a big team.
Once again, I love Ret and am happy for him, but at the same time it's a bit sad that they didn't give at least 1spot to some unknown player.
Why Pro-gamers are going to the house training? Why dont they give the chance to unknown players with skill?
Sorry but this seems like to make money instead of helping players grow :| Exposure. Money gets envolved and they start to screw perfect things like ESPORTS.
Agreeably, it is a bit disappointing that only already established players got picked. But it is understandable - they want exposure and they will certainly get it with big names, rather than if they picked players, who are unknown. Best of luck to those picked, hope you have an awesome time & a good training enviroment in MoW.
Finally a serious house for desRow to grow and advance in, and TL doesn't have a house as far as I know, so this will be fantastic for Ret as well.
I love the pics, these are definitely the players that has the skill level to get the most out of going to a house of this caliber, rather than masters who'd just randomly wing their games and just want the bragging rights of being in a house.

I much rather have seen you invite players like those as guests and grooming unpolished players as then your house would gain more prominence and respect in the scene.
I have no problem with resident pro gamers who come to visit the training facility for a few weeks at a time in the guest room as that can be quite useful.
To be honest you should be able to get to at least grandmaster on EU/NA/SEA without any training house, or it won't really help much. And of course they are doing it for money, people don't just throw money into e-sports for no reason; or it would be completely unsustainable

Yes but there were people of that level who applied but have little no exposure at all. I think a lot of what people are complaining about is that they kind of 'sold out' instead of bringing out brand new talent. No one should be suprised though like as you said, they had an agenda, and that's to make money.

Ret is already great, he just needs that tiny boost to get on top. Desrow needs a team, so this should work out for him. Even if these guys aren't a team, this house will definitely be a team-like environment.

Hmmm.. ? why you think they dont make cash to cover the costs of the house ? Dont get it.. This 3 free places are FREE anyway ? no matter who take them.., so what you write makes no sense.. They have sponsors.. , they have 12 spots in house.. only 3 are free.
And to be honest..when they make this promotion , maby they didint know so many good pro players will join this ?
this is huge for desrow. Hes making alot of progress as it is, if he applies himself well in the house which im sure he will he'll come out at the end of it as a total beast!
Not gonna lie, I stayed up all night waiting for the announcement and was a little bitter when I saw the choices but... I wasn't really expecting to become part of the house anyway. I never win contests.

Very nice for all of them , even though im a ROOT fan and would have preferred Major instead of one of them, but tbh his application was just bad , Good luck TITAN DESROW AND RET!

Even though I partially agree that Ret already has excellent conditions to become good, this will do him great. He strikes me the type that slacks a lot but if he would to take it seriously he could become a beast, MoW might force him into massing more.

I dont ladder on my main account, only play tournies on it ^^. I have a beautiful barcode account that I ladder on The original owner of the kami account was a silver league player that still plays game on it.

I'll never understand why no names (no offense!) make a barcode account. I can understand korean pro's or pro's in general like illusion/idra/etc but will never understand why you would. If anything that hurts your exposure as a player (let's say you are a really good up and comer nobodies going to know until you do well in a big tournament, illusion was seen as an up and comber even before he did very well at IPL4 for example).
I'm really glad to see Ret there. He's mentioned in the past he has lacked commitment on improving his game, I see him already as a dominate player just lacking the full commitment.
Good to see desrow there, he might not be a mannerbear but he's indeed taking his pro career very seriously. I can respect that.

Why do people hate other people that have barcode accounts? Everybody I play on ladder seems to hate me, even before they lose, because I play on a barcode account. Lets just put it this way, if I did become a known player in the community, I would hate to know that everyone knows how I play. Actually MoW will have 6 well established players and 6 less known players. AWESOME! Although it would be nice to have more Terrans in the house, so they can train better.

TL is a NA team? That's news to me.
Okay, thats kind of beside the point. Hes on one of the best teams.
As happy as I am to see that they picked great players for the house, I feel like they falsely advertised. They said anyone could apply and get selected. But they went for three big named players over lesser known or unknown players. Business-wise this is the best choice for sure but why not pick just one up and coming player for the free three months? I don't know. Thats my two cents.

Agreed, MOW should have carefully looked for some up and comers, I love Ret but come on, they should have maybe offered Ret another role as he would be valuable dude to have around but him taking the spot of an up and comer is just wrong imo, unless I'm mistaken and this whole thing wasn't about giving an opportunity to a new players . . .
That is the point I'm getting at with what I wrote is that they could have given chances to "up and comers" but they clearly only saw dollar signs, is the only thing that annoys me,but Im certain That the chosen ones will grab the opportunity and train intensely. But this is only my opinion.
I'm surprised that they invited Titan after you could see that he was too busy playing 4 tables of poker than to devote his full attention to his video application. They seem to be recruiting the biggest names possible in order to get the most hype possible for their house. Maybe in this way, they will be able to attract sponsors and become more self-sustaining, so it's not a bad idea. Desrow isn't a good player, but he's controversial, and he ignites more discussions than Major does, so that's probably why he was picked.

Well desrows korea experience didnt seem to be any good since it seems he was mostly laddering on its own. Its good to be in an enviroment where people are helpful which was not the case at the gom house it seemed.

LOL sounds like code for cheese/all in every game to me.
I kind of agree what people say about giving a no name a chance in the house but can't really blame them for taking more well known players. They KNOW what they're getting with these players - not so with some randomer that has only ever laddered. Gl

Its not like no name players have no chance to get in this house. They could have paid like the other less kown players that were already there. To get it for free, you naturally have to bring something more with you than the average player.

DesRow can be kind of an ass sometimes. Part of the community hate him for the small amounts of drama he's raised but his drive and commitment to becoming a better player is his greatest strength. Still, gonna be interesting to see what MoW does to him that Korea did not.

A lot of the "hate" (I wouldn't really call it hate, most of the people who have commented on this have been quite reasonable and fair) is because Desrow isn't really "there" yet, especially when you compare him with Ret, Titan, and Slavik (who I guess he won over).
There's also some hate I assume because he got in over Major, except I read earlier in the thread that he really didn't, and Major just declined because he didn't wanna buy his own passage to Warsaw? If that's not the case, I don't know why he didn't get in, foreign Terrans are in short supply.

wait what happened with maximus?
DesRow flew out to coach him hardcore for a week, for an agreed upon amount of money.
They streamed the whole thing and that week MaximusBlack made a significant amount more money from his stream than he would have normally.
DesRow didn't think anything was wrong with this and went back home, apparently someone persuaded him that since he was a major part of his extra revenue, he should ask for a larger cut.
DesRow did so, and ACCORDING TO DESROW, MB flew off the handle at him and started shouting about all sorts of shit. Nobody knew anything about this until on reddit, MB posted a comment referring to some kind of dispute with DesRow nobody knew about. DesRow clarified here on TL.
Personally, I think its a lot of fuss over nothing. DesRow agreed to terms and got paid, he didn't have a right to ask for more money, but on the same token if MB really did get into a slanging match with him thats pretty terrible too. If it happened. Which we have no proof of other than DesRow's word.
I elected to just ignore the whole affair, it seems like some stupid shit to bring into the public domain and it means nothing to either player as far as their play or work for the community streaming goes.
I think accepting Liquid'Ret is the best thing MoW could do.
The amount of extra exposure and credibility they gain from Ret going to train there would be worth a great deal to them, not to mention his pure skill, which will allow the others in the house to practice against a great zerg.
I also think they made false hopes with their thread, there was something like ranks doesn't matter. And now they pick 2 progamers and desrow, anyway gl there i guess.

Just because something is open for anyone to try, it doesn't mean they're not gonna pick the most qualified. If there's a talent show, sure you can audition but if you suck, they're gonna pick the people who suck less.

Didn't actully meant i wanted to try, i'm playing this game for 2 months now and i'm low master so i wouldn't, but i think would've been nice to give some high master or low gm a chance, wich put a lot effort in it, picking someone up who is already at a high lvl is easy. I have to say I agree, if you look at it it's just two popular streamer and I don't know about Titan stream viewers he may be the only one being accepted because of his potential.
Slavik, RaNgeD: I'm cheering for you! I know it doesn't help in this situation right now, but I think you're at the level it takes, have the potential, with great personalities for a gaming house.
-.- so much false hope given. i can understand maybe 2/3 slots going to already established or popular players already, but atleast one slot should have gone to an upcoming high masters/gm player. zz
I don't know why Ret was accepted, you know hes on a team and this should be most likely a training for players that arent in such a big team that Taeja is i mean Liquid.

He is more comfortable with it because it is closer to home.
I am glad to see Desrow given a chance, he has been working hard for all the hate he receives.

Anyways, hopefully it works out for everyone involved. Will be interesting to see if any improvements are made, especially when Destiny visits and trains there.

Can someone enlighten me on the Maximus and Desrow incident? I didn't hear about this :0

IIRC the thread about it was closed because it was so insignificant and nothing but needless drama (basically IIRC it was just a he said she said kinda thing)
Damn, wish that MajOr had paid the flight. He'd be a good adition to Ministry of Win. I imagine he'd be a good practice partner. That guy grinds games like no other.
I don't know why some of you are saying that they raised false hopes, when in the original thread it clearly stated: "It is all about your ambitions, however, we will choose the best possible players at this moment."

Major has wasted every opportunity he's gotten with his piss poor attitude amongst other things. He barely put any effort into his application anyway so how can one expect that he would somehow be given a chance with his extremely poor record when given chances?
If you apply for a job and have great credentials yet only put down your name and one other fact about you on your application (Major) and some other guy with a worse resume puts a lot of work into his application (DesRow), the guy with the better application is going to get the job. I dont think Major shouldve been invited and I dont know why he would apply because im almost positive they said you had to pay to get there.

Yes, but is he still not considered up and coming? Maybe so, maybe not, but it's a great oppertunity to figure that out after this house experience. Plus I've heard the GOM house wasn't the best environment for him to really improve his gameplay, only in the stance that he got to play on the korean server and got a hint of what a partial team house is like. Maybe now he can take full advantage of this experience without any financial worries and a house that actually has rules on the starcraft side.
Also I wouldn't say he's in the same place, he is BY far a better player than when he left for korea, it's just the community/competition as a whole has grown tremendously.

Okay, but they still said it. That at least implies they would pick up at least one team/sponsor-less individual without a boost. All those people who made videos thought they actually had a chance, and the videos probably didn't even matter at the end.

There's one thing I truly respect and admire at Desrow - and that is his never-ending desire and drive to not stop chasing his dream. I would not hate on him for that, it's something very few people can do; most just give up and go about the "standard" lives. Wish more people would stick to doing what they love. Hoping he can achieve what he wishes, because of that drive of his, which is his biggest treasure.

Sure they have a chance..., like i write before ,maby MoW crew didint realize that so many good pro gamers will apply.., you think abouth that ?. Other thing is that , in house already are mid skill gamers.. not pro gamers.. ( GM/master players , they dont go to any tournaments etc , but they wanna bet better to go in future ) , now they have a chance to practice , with real pro gamers..its great for them. And gamers that are in house already pay for it.. , they travel from other countries to Poland etc.. so they really wanna get better! , they are taking game serius. So imo better give oportunity practice with top pro gamers , to players that really care.. spend cash.. travel to get better in SC 2 , then some random diamond players from TL.. sorry for harsh words , but this is true.
Scarlett write smart thing in this thread.." get aleast GM rank , or top 10 master , then look for promotions like that" , if someone got motivation for game , talent etc , can easy go GM/top 10 master in own home.., if someone cant hit even mid master lv , he dont have future in SC2 , yes sure people play for fun.. , but you dont go to gamming house for fun , you go for hard work.

And no, I'm not Desrow's fanboy, merely showing respect where it is due.
You don't have to be a fanboy for expressing your feelings and thoughts. Like me i don't idolize a starcraft player their normal people just like us. And many of us probably could get pro or something like that well i know i can with a lot of hard work and putting mind to it.

Omg another one.. read one more time.. , they say at begging they will chose best players possible.
Platinum players would have to probably demonstrate some kind of special value or make a special pitch, not just get in front of a camera and say "I am Plat, my favourite players are x, y, and z, I surf on TL.NET, my favourite food is pizza".
Like you can read on MoW www site. http://www.ministryofwin.com/page/house-roster With Ret , titan and desrow there will be 8 players , so 4 places in house left. Destiny , Livezerg , Morrow will come ,then there is one spot left
[B]I doubt Ret and desRow will get as much out of it considering they have all ready been playing the game full time and in training houses in Korea,
One of the things that desRow was saying was that although he was in Korea, the Gom house was not a great environment for training, you just didn't have the partners. It seemed to be a good base for someone wanting to try out for Code A but it was not really a training house. As he could not get into one of the proper training houses he came back to Canada.

It seems like Ret might be wasting his time, compared to spending the same time practicing with the Korean part of TL.. Zenio, Hero and Taeja.... I dont understand why he signed up at all..
Everyone here is great except Desrow. He is mediocre and after the thing with MB I think that he is to greedy to ever be respected by me. Like 99% in the industry probably, but still.
I sent emails and messages in support of desrow being one of the 3. He is a perfect fit, I'm so glad they picked him. The point is they wanted people who were willing to work hard while they were there, and who would improve while they stayed at the house. Thats what the sponsers want to see, thats what MoW wants to see, thats what desrow will deliver. Since he has got back from korea he has shown to be as good as many other NA pro's, and being able to play on eu without lag will only improve him.

Well i didn't expected this house to be stacked with such good players ! Let's see what comes out of this, i really hope Ret will bring home some big tournament win this year
I dont ladder on my main account, only play tournies on it ^^.
Why do people hate other people that have barcode accounts? Everybody I play on ladder seems to hate me, even before they lose, because I play on a barcode account. Lets just put it this way, if I did become a known player in the community, I would hate to know that everyone knows how I play. I dont play "standard" because it seems like "standard" play is no rush 10 minute games. So yeah, thats my excuse for having a hated barcode account.
LOL sounds like code for cheese/all in every game to me.
I kind of agree what people say about giving a no name a chance in the house but can't really blame them for taking more well known players. They KNOW what they're getting with these players - not so with some randomer that has only ever laddered. Gl
hmm a player like desrow is a bit of a liability to have around other players based on his past. having 1 non-pro out of 3 would have been nice, community loves an up and coming story.
This is actually somewhat sad. You have quite a few players there who will never pass the skill level they are at now. Seems you picked 'some' people for publicity reasons? Makes the whole idea seem like garbage.
Either way, that entire house will 'not' be a good training facility. It is like the blind leading the blind.
I really hope Desrow is able to imporve his play in MOW! He has a lot of passion for the game and has been working really hard to prove himself; I feel its only a matter of time before he becomes a real NA threat!

Guess the great get greater.
Well if you look at who is currently in the house (Fuzer, Evaner, Sage, Wilko, and Breathe) none of them I would consider established; moving forward though MOW is picking up better players which hopefully will make the house a better place to train. Also players like desrow and Live Zerg I wouldn't call established either and they could really benefit from having good training partners. Lastly bring in better players could allow for the more unknown players to take maximum advantage of the training environment.
honestly how many bronze players could really take three months off their lives to play starcraft in europe full time. If you have that kind of job security then you could afford it just as much as ret could.
EDIT: I say bronze but i really mean anyone who's not full time
Congratulations to all the players accepted in the house. That being said I hope that Desrow behaves himself considering the other incidents that have happened when he has been living with other people.
