Apparently you don't read the ongoing proceedings.
Come on guys at least skim some pages? o_O

That is some serious dog fight, but it was expected knowing that a super-powerful business like Kespa wouldn't take anything with ease. I guess it will be like that until both sides realise that they are too hurt to keep with this stupidity. I wonder how it will affect the foreign situation and if the western scen may or may not take over wihle this desagrements are happerning in the Korea scene. It could also potentialy delay OS2L and GSL, wich is rather concerning.

Just the fact that OGN actually has a korean viewer base, that GOM lacks should be sufficient That's only half the equation. There's us foreign audience ^_^ The issues with that is, that kespa can run a free 720p on twitch without any issues, they can run their league without getting massive of amounts of subscription money from foreigner. But for GOM this money is really important. So who will you watch the stream that is HQ for free or the 360p p2watch stream? So gom will lose out, they don't have the korean audience to pay for their tournaments via advertisement and so they can't afford to run free streams for foreigners
I doubt it's that cut and dry. GOM did okay-ish with GOMTV Classic before the original fight w/ Kespa. Now that the MSL is gone, maybe there is enough room for a second individual tourney.

Considering the days of "GOMTV Classic", the decision by Kespa to not participate in GSL is not a simple issue and we are afraid that it might recur in the future considering the situation. GOMTV provided Kespa players with various accommodations regarding the schedule and application process and yet the decision by Kespa seems to spoil the partnership between E-sports Federation and Kespa. One of the reasons that Kespa will not participate in GSL was that there is a conflict in scheduling of the players. Only because we wanted to see how BW pros would addapt to the new game!!! I could care less about who is in OSL if I dont know 1 single player! and at this point in time stil far behind GSL players im not talking about the couple few that can hang with them But overall leaugue skill
Try to guess how many loyalist Korean fans watch the OSL. You might be surprised.

Yesterday, we received a statement from Kespa that the players will not participate in GSL season. This was a shocking and disappointing news to us. We want to express our apology on the breach in partnership between Kespa and Esports Federation and on Kespa's decisions. GOMTV devoted great amount of effort to succesfully globalize Korean E-sports ever since the release of Starcraft II 2 years ago. Thanks to this, "E-sports Federation" was assembled to work side-by-side with GOMTV in the hope to carry Korean E-sports a step forward. This is pretty hard to accept as GOMTV was able to accommodate many schedule conflicts without any problem for the past 2 years and this was also the case for Kespa players who participated in WCS and WCG. E-Sports Federation does not want GSL to be removed from Korean E-sports and if it does, the effect of E-sports Federation players to the global E-sports will decrease for certain. We think that it is mandatory for Kespa to work with us and show great games to our viewers. As such, we have contacted teams of E-sports Federation (Startale, LG-IM, Prime, MVP, NSH, TSL, FXO) regarding the players who are participating in OSL (Nestea, MVP, DRG, MKP, Parting, San) to make the following decision:For the better future of Korean E-sports, we politely ask Kespa players to participate in GSL and until Kespa decides to allow their players to join GSL without any problem, we have decided to pull our players from OSL. It is also difficult for us to make such harsh decisions but we think it is necessary to appeal the dignity of GOMTV and E-sports Federation. Once again, we are truly apologetic regarding such news and we hope that Kespa would cooperate so that we can show amazing games to all of you. Thanks E-sports Federation Player representative Jae Deok "Nestea" IM E-sports Federation President Won Jong Wook source http://www.thisisgame.com/board/view.php?category=13438&id=1273735 What a bunch of hogwash, they wanted to popularise SC2 in the foreign scene by collecting $50 from every viewer, and now they feel that it's mandatory for KeSPA players to participate in their leagues? Someone sounds a bit desperate here. $50 from every viewer? what are you on about?:S nvm him, problably bw elitist What kind of post is that -.-;; Educate yourself, yo. LOL in sc1 This is SC2 and GSL runs shit over here!!! The only reason people watched OSL are because of the GOM-Kespa rivalry...... Only because we wanted to see how BW pros would addapt to the new game!!! I could care less about who is in OSL if I dont know 1 single player! and at this point in time stil far behind GSL players im not talking about the couple few that can hang with them But overall leaugue skill
KeSPA players will soon pass the GSL players in skill, at least thats how it looks like atm.
People will watch the better players and not give a shit about anything else.

I guess it will be like that until both sides realise that they are too hurt to keep with this stupidity. I wonder how it will affect the foreign situation and if the western scen may or may not take over wihle this desagrements are happerning in the Korea scene. It could also potentialy delay OS2L and GSL, wich is rather concerning. cant delay gsl, they have to be at ipl with 4 ppl remaining

Also OGN has much better production values Is the doom zoom that important to production values? Because legend is so much better at observing then ogn is, and unless you can understand korean, the gom casters are better then the line up of ogn casters.

wow shit just got real..i think we can officially say this is killing esports...literally.

And so GSL remains the best Sc2 Tournament in Korea, good choice by ESF, and it's players who realise this same fact.
It's not GOM who should have to addapt only, Sc2 is not Broodwar the faster Kespa realises this the better it will be for all. foreign revenue is going to become a big part of it.

Know what might have been smart? Seeing as most of the eSF players are still better at the moment..
Have the eSF players crush the KeSPA players, and THEN they pull out.
"Well, fuck yo tournament, we better than you anyway and we leaving."

yea people keep talking about the 'korean audience'...meanwhile the foreigner audience is having multiple tournaments with 1 million unique views, and reaching 100k+ concurrent views
tldr: kespa is dumb, no reason to pull shit like this, its not bw where the foreigner scene doesn't exist, we actually hold weight in sc2

Kespa already buckled anyway, so them not giving a flying fuck is simply not true. They sure do want a piece of the foreigner pie, best way to do it now is to suck it up and play nice.
