Given the concept of a salary is present in almost all jobs, you'd think that nobody would do work, huh? There are probably conditions as to how much he has to participate/perform, opportunities for bonuses, etc.

I just don't see these teams paying these guys anything over $4000 a month, and I'd be very surprised if anyone is even getting that. There's simply no way a gamer can get free housing, travel, tournament/stream money, and close to $100k a year. Realistically, I'd say 35k a year is high for a pro gamer. Yes and theres also a huge difference between a Korean thats fallen off and the best foreign player outside of GSL to date.

While I don't agree with your wording ("kill motivation to win"), I definitely agree with your sentiment. This kind of stuff happens all the time in the NBA. Player A gets paid a long term and lucrative contract; the following year they don't perform the same as they did before the contract.

eSports needs to grow so that people are actually attracted to this lifestyle. Right now it requires huge sacrifice/risk.

Plus, the better he does, the more leverage when it comes to re-signing. I wonder if he has an agent to help him decide or something.

Huk dropped because he refuses to change his style. Every single time I watch him i swear to god he 2 base all ins, when everyone knows that is what you are going to do you are going to struggle a lot and it's shown. Now that 2 base timings have gotten figured out a lot if that's all you know how to do you are going to drop off the scene.
