State of the Game last week, eh? Must've missed that episode......
Did he actually say that somewhere or?

I don't recall Incontrol ever saying that. The only thing he said regarding salaries in EG (as far as I know) is that he knows how much everyone in the house makes and it doesn't bother him.

Grtz to Stephano. I hope he keeps winning.

8k / month is more than he would made if he was a doctor in France like he plan to do.

Seems pretty measly to me, for a person who apparently is in the game to make money. That's without prize money, though. You don't know the contract. Prize money can easly all go to EG with such a salary. Why would any player even practice when having such a contract? There is no way any team or player would be that stupid to write/sign such a a contract. Then you would kill the motivation and all what the player is fighting for. Unfortunatly, a trophie isn't worth much in Starcraft 2.
It's much much more likely that he will get a bonus if he wins a tournament to motivate him even more.

Depends on what field you choose once you're out of med school.

Well, you can win more, but that's like after 6 or 7 years of study.

Dafuq you talkin' about. The median HOUSEHOLD income in the US is $50k (including households with dual incomes from both parents). Most college graduates, if they can find a job out of college in a good field like business or engineering, get jobs around $50k to $60k out of school.
$100k is a big Fing deal.

Especially if you account for the fact that Stephano is really young (19, 20?), hasn't attended college what so ever and doesn't even work that many hours a week for that pay check. He also doesn't have any expenses while living in the EG lair.
Oh and did I mention that if he actually plays decently, he will earn a lot more than 96k a year due to tournament prize money?
I don't see how he could possible quit SC2 for med school right now unless he really hates playing the game. His economical situation is just too good at the moment.
Edit: $86k so far this year from tournaments. His income is very likely to be over $200k a year if he continues playing this good (potential for much more ofc)

As much as people say EG has a "curse", I'm actually happy to see Stephano go to EG. Hopefully he only keeps improving and takes a GSL when he goes to Korea!

I wonder how IdrA feels about all this.
Stephano is basically taking his place, both in his team and in the community. Zerg star, strongest foreigner, most popular streamer - all of which IdrA has been a while ago.
Of course IdrA would never say something. But I believe it has some impact on him. Let's hope it will spark competitive motivation in him and result in improvement on his side. It could easily go the other way and cause him to never come out of his slump.

You have target achievments which you define with your supervisior. At the end of the year you should have achieved those within a margin, standard.
And there are those contradicting models: percentage earning from sells or static amount each month with maybe a minor percentage for major sells.
But I got scolded earlier for debating about this so yea, just my 2 cents for how I imagine such figures get paid :D

In Denmark 8k a month is average for a full-time job, higher than the minimum, but I think it's even below average
