brb moving to Denmark LOL

Hard to type because I'm too busy rubbing my eyes with shock at this news.

in 2006, looks at charts everywhere, salaries has been rising immensly since then, 5,4 to 8k should be no problem really. Find some updated information before you link it, rather than something 6 years old....

It was Inside the Game, and the guy you're quoting is twisting Geoff's words. He stated that Alex said he does/has paid EG players 6 figures. This could be their Dota team, quake, counterstrike, and whatever divisions they have. He never mentioned the eg house.

Wow this thread is so ugly...
People with their heads up their ass saying that much money is nothing... People comparing "stats" of other country's to their own to "prove" how little Stephano is earning or how much.
How about you all stop QQ'ing admit your jelly and congradulate Stephano for living the dream. And if you want to lie to yourself and say you never dreamed about someting like this then coodo's to you, enjoy your 9-5 job and be quiet.

8k in France is a sick salary
|
No one said that it isn't cool, and I wouldn't mind either, but the money aspect isn't anything special, and I think that stephano would agree as well, and say that he mostly does it for the enjoyment of the game. Money might just be how he justify to his parrents doing it(I heard they had a bit of issues, especially when he extended his 1 year of gaming)
|
What is the purpose of this thread? Has anything official been told yet? No. Is there another thread (or dozen of other threads to be more accurate) saying that Stephano is very likely to go to EG according to a "source" ? Yes. The only new thing is the 8 000$ salary instead of the 10 000$ salary, but it is an "approximate" number so what's the point? I'm disappointed in you Fionn...

Guys I found this secret photo of Stephano... I think it's all the "official" proof we need to safely say he's on EG now.
+ Show Spoiler +

its kudos not coodo .... small gripes aside grats to stephano that is a butt-load of cash i am astounded, really good for him, heres hoping he puts up some more goood results in the coming year as well.
|
i hope this is all lie
i dont want the curse to hit stephano

8.000$ is not very good for a player like Stephano; i don't know about the contract but i guess there are a lot of additional money like streaming ( 1k-2k$ month ), paying ALL ROADS, hotels, tournaments ( 2K$-5K$ month average ), some other sponsorships related to hardware ( 1k$ + month ).
And of course there's the price money.
To be honest i guess he is making just from EG more then 12k$ each month + all the other stuff i wrote down.
This is not very far from reality and i think it's cool someone get that much money for playing starcraft 2. I am working as support employer in a big company who sponsor some player ( not EG ), and there are a lot of players who earning outside from the USA 5.000$+ without all the benefits i mention, so i bet a stephano is the most valued player right now in the starcraft II business.
And stop saying stuff like "Getting such big money just for a game...", it's a work for him, a work which making fun. If e-Sports is just a game i want to know why sponsors invest every month milion of dollars in sponsorships.
You shouldn't be jealous on him, be happy eSports is that respected and worthy in the society.

The Stephano of the NFL, NBA, NHL? The Stephano of Tennis? Im probably not alone in thinking that SC2 requires just as much talent and practice. 1. You realize that actual professional sports make a truckload more money, and thus can afford to pay their players ridiculously huge salaries... right? 2. Stephano is like... what, the 30th best player or so of SC2? Maybe top 50? Who the hell is the Stephano of online poker? Who's the 40th best hockey player (again, not that a computer game is nearly as popular as a regular sport)? 3. He's making about 100K a year. That's more than double what the average teacher makes in America (http://www.payscale.com/research/US/All_K-12_Teachers/Salary). So really, please settle down. lol at top50^^

stephano signs, so he no longer have to practise so hard to win tourneys for money EG slump inc, but atleast he will get better at benchpressing i guess.
