Alright, you can be a smartass, and I'll wait for reality to make it so obvious that even you can grasp the problem with the matter. It's not like a standard of unprofessionalism and unreliability is suddenly respectable, or okay, just because it's common.

If Stephano would had gone to any other team BUT EG we wouldn't had heard squat about it until the actual announcement. Now we have a freaking thread about this. The artificial hype created by EG for this is insane. I think however they shot themselves in the foot on this one though;the entities in SC2 right now that knows how to spin and market something to the community to this degree requires skill and there are very few, prolly GSL, MLG, Dreamhack, and EG are the only ones. So that its EG is quite obvious since no other team actually has the expertise or understanding on how to create hype of this kind.
I thought you were serious for a moment, but your hyperbole makes me think that you're trolling instead of just ignorant.
EG's done absolutely nothing to hype this; it's all standard community-driven rumors and some secondary information. There might be some good reasons to think that EG has acquired Stephano, and I'm sure EG is liking the attention that everyone is giving them... but we're the impetus behind all of this hype, not EG.

The story of "Stephano to EG" doesn't actually hurt Stephano or teams involved if the article is wrong. It will just make people question ESFI/Slasher and their sources more. It polices itself in this context. This is only regarding player movement though.

Thats why you only use sources you know and trust. But fuck man, people have made careers off of working this way. Why? Because thats how its done. To people who think whichever team (ie 99.9999999999999% EG) got stephano isn't generating this hype, they're mistaken. I'll bet some of these undisclosed sources were tipped off on purpose, or are even from the team themselves. By purposely putting out dates, and then not reaching them, (First end of august, then september 1, then that monday, then that tuesday) the hype is just growing (though I feel like if they keep it up too long people will just get pissed off.)

Aside from politics and business-news I personally favor the kind of journalism that uses rumours to create interesting stories or whatever you want to call it. The only important thing is that it has to be noticeable that the story relies on "undisclosed sources". E.g. the football transfer news during summer is fun as hell. Everyone knows that 90% is not true anyways but all the speculating is just fun as it is.

This is a situation of "it gets worse before it gets better." Eventually, people who report false information will be weeded out and replaced by those reporters with reliable sources. Until the clean out process is complete, we have to deal with false reporting. Just know that the people reporting false information don't have the intention to do so. Especially because it hurts their credibility in the long haul.

This will really spice up the 'ol TL vs. EG rivalry. Liquid` has been looking dominant lately, but Stephano is one mean dude.

Liquid was lucky enough to have Taeja go super saiyan recently and become the hottest player for a bit. I don't know if even Stephano can do anything about it if Taeja sustains his meteoric rise to the top

Fortunately, the EG-Liquid rivalry has shifted back and forth, which was nice to see, since it is boring if only one team is winning all the time.
For example, a year ago EG was clearly stronger than Liquid. Puma was playing incredibly well (just not in Korea), Huk was holding a Code S spot, and even Idra was kicking ass. One of their best showings was at MLG Orlando, where Huk got 1st, Idra got 4th, and Puma got 7th. EG was on top.
Since then, Liquid has picked up Taeja, Hero has transformed from a perennial choker into an actual top level player, while Puma, Idra and Huk have all started to slump severely. Now Liquid is on top. But maybe the acquisition of Stephano can help put EG back on par with Liquid, or even overtake Liquid.

lol at HerO choking and everyone always overdoing it with the whole nerves b.s. and as far as I'm concerned EG haven't dominated shit. Let alone Liquid.
I don't know why you guys constantly bring these two teams up. Then you guys shoutout but, but they're the top foreigner teams. Under what pretense? Taeja/HerO carrying the ball? Give me a break already.
You guys only see what you want to see and that my green grasshopper is a problem onto itself.
As for this slump business. Guys can get good draws or they can catch bad breaks. HuK has had several tough breaks where lady luck wasn't on his side and he had to go through tough competition. Won't fair so well.
Oh yeah, another thing. For the vast majority of players you get what you put in. The rest is raw talent. Unfortunately very few players have this skill. If you aren't doing your time, sorry you won't be getting results. You slack off and you won't get any return. That goes for a lot of guys including the ones you spoke about.
If you aren't hungry good luck trying to make it back on top of the podium. At least HotS is in full swing so it will be a while for guys to figure it out, but eventually it will tighten up again.
|
why "you guys" constantly bring up EG and Liquid? Because they are by far the two most popular teams in the foreign scene. Pretty simple.
