12 September, 2012 -- We are excited to welcome two new recruits to the Infinity Seven family today -- Mike and Tubby.
Michael ‘Mike’ Gervits is a Zerg player that has showed a lot of potential and a great motivation to improve when the team played and spoke with him. He will be taking a year off now that he's finished with college to pursue a career professionally in Starcraft 2. Mike has recently been competing in Playhem tournaments and notably taken out Korean players TSL_Revival and TSL_Ragnarok.
Jay ‘Tubby’ Martens, a Protoss player known by his unique alias ‘TubbyTheFat’, and for taking a series off HuK at WCS Canada, has been on our radar for a while now. We're happy to finally have Tubby join the ranks of our players. He has an entertaining stream where he commentates on a regular basis, and most recently he competed in WCS NA and placed top 16 at the tournament.
Michael ‘Mike’ Gervits
I'm really looking forward to joining team iS and practicing with all their players. I feel like I have a lot to improve upon and this is the perfect place for me to grow as a player. I plan to participate in several tournaments in the future, so look for me in these events. I would like to thank team iS and all its sponsors for making this possible. Jay ‘Tubby’ Martens
I am honoured to be welcomed as a member of Infinity Seven. They are a competitive team that fosters foreign talent and competes at the highest levels. I am really looking forward to learning from the great Protosses already on the team, Axslav and Insur. I'd like to thank zemotion for giving me the chance to prove myself and I will do my best to bring in results to make all my fans and supporters proud. Zhang 'zemotion' Jingna
With Michael and Jay joining iS we’re taking another huge step forward towards our goal of developing the most talented players in the NA scene. We’re very excited to be able to add these two high-caliber players to our roster. Happy to have you guys and welcome!
We hope you will join us in welcoming these two new members to the Infinity Seven family. In the following months they will make themselves seen in the competitive scene, stay tuned!

Great pickups, glad to see Tubby find a great team. Good luck!

Isn't Tubby the guy who cannon rushes literally every game?
and for taking a series off HuK HuK lost to two cannon rushes then, or am I remembering something else?
Aww yeah!
Mike was also the MVP of the Rutgers CSL team last year, helping us get first place at the East Coast regional LAN and showing a ton of potential! I expect great things from him now that he's on iS
Tubby has also been one of my favorite protoss streams to watch lately. Good play and... entertaining commentary lol.

jajajaja someone gave me a hint this could happen.
Congrats to both players (:

Yeah, apparently all he does is pylon forge on the lowground vs zerg on ladder too haha

Surprised they picked up Tubby, quite a terrible player from what I've seen.
Never heard of mike though.
Tubby is a bit of a surprise, but Mike is good. GL to everyone.

Tnq, missed that one

Well if executed properly its viable strat. I saw some guy doing it also every game and is high master on NA and some guy Gaulzi. They all have sucess even if they say that will canon rush their opponent. I guess he can do it too
Sorry for off topic, what happened to Crazymoving? o: don't see him on the roster you posted.
On topic: Don't know Mike or Tubby, but best of luck and congrats!

It's funny, because prior to WCS Canada, Huk said he had a tough bracket because he had to play Ostojiy, Scarlett and ''a good PvP player in TubbyTheFat''.

Huk won the first game, Tubby won the second with a 4 Gate, though he had pretty bad micro and almost threw it away. I can't find a VOD of game number three.

Honestly kind of surprised that iS is taking more of a "ROOT" approach to recruiting atm. I figured they'd replace crazymovin with another korean or two instead of semi-unknown NA players.
Either way good luck! I'm sure iS will make you feel at home especially with papa Axslav and his sexy voice.
Hey dudes, welcome aboard
A very long time ago I used to be on a team with Tubby(aka TTF). Glad to see him go far!
edit: he is also the biggest troll I have ever met

That's Gaulzi.

MIKE THE RUTGERS ZERG!!!!!! \o/
I've been watching Tubby's stream for a long time, glad to see him join a respectable team. To people saying he cannon rushes every game, like I said I've watched him for a long time and he almost never cannon rushes. Gaulzi is the cannon rusher.
"Mike," clearly the best progamer ID ever made.
any more info on these guys or this mainly info / experience the team scouted them with?

well I don't know if it's true but people are saying that cannon rushing is all tubby does so to the guy who said it is a viable strat: maybe on NA ladder and in NA playhems (well..... obviously xD) but in a tournament format you won't win with that and that should be what he would join a pro team for or not?

Everybody is thinking of Gaulzi. Watch TTF's stream and you'll see he doesn't cannon rush.
a korean or 2 and iS is set for team leagues i think. GL HF iS cool team name.
Infinity Seven making moves! looking forward to watching the streams and seeing them compete

Oh one of those players who only cannon rushes? Thank's if I ever play him I know to do an 11 pool and just hard counter .
edit
sorry.. iddnt read
grats guys
For the love of god iS, let Tubby play under the full alias "TubbyTheFat". I can already hear CatsPajamas introduce him on the main stage of the next IPL.
Hey good on ya! Tubby is one of my favourite players to watch in MLGs and WCS. Goodluck to both, and to Mike as well I suppose.

Yeah Gaulzi, and also WBC (wannabecool) is also fairly infamous for his cannonogins. But Tubby The Fat is legit, and awesome.

Good for iS glad to see them expanding their roster after losing some players. Tubby is actually a good protoss player guys dunno where your getting this idea that he's bad.
Mike. such originality of an ID :D
"Tubby" is nowhere near as cool as "TubbyTheFat." (or recognizable/marketable) You absolutely NEED to change the name again to where "theFat" is included. Regardless of current waistline!
That said, good luck. Team up with Axslav to take some clan wars.
so glad to see my favorite team growing
Never heard of Mike, but congratulaitons to tubby!

Also welcome guys!!! <3

Mike is a super solid Zerg. Looking forward to seeing him go far.

Mike won the Collegiate Starleague LAN at Princeton for Rutgers University. Definitely good talent in this guy! He is quite handsome too.
Grats to all parties involved. iS takeover.
Haha, recruiting a cannon rushing guy sounds pretty crazy, love it already! Best of luck!
mike smoked me on the ladder today! IS stacked! looking forward to you guys repping NA !
Growing the NA scene iS. Well done.
TubbytheFat is an epic name true. I'm excited to see Mike in action on the big stage, some of you may be very surprised.
Mike and TubbyTheFat both sound like troll names, as in I couldn't ever predict a caster saying "look at the beautiful infestor control by Mike".
will tubbythefat not fit after is the clan tag? just make it TTF.
About time Tubby got picked up by a team, glad it was iS

I really love to see teams trying to foster NA talent instead of buying Koreans. Good luck to these guys and your team.

is mike the same mike that was/is on knights of starcraft or is it a different player. becuase he impressed me in his games vs slush not sure if it's the same player though.
never really seen tubbythe fats games but i'll respect huk's oppinion more then some one who just thinks that they might remember him as a cannon rusher.
goodluck to both the players and the team hope it works out for you.
Another team consistently picking up lower end low potential players... seriously what is going on

It's the same Mike, Knights of StarCraft is just a casual clan with people from the Rutgers University CSL team.

It's not a huge corporate team, ya know. It's quite low budget. And it's not an old team.
iS is gonna be the flagship of the foreign scene
Tubby's been a good friend of mine, glad to see him join a team of such caliber finally ^_^
On September 16 2012 09:48 StateofReverie wrote: iS is gonna be the flagship of the foreign scene
I'm not so sure about "flagship of the foreign scene", when nearly all their players are american, and their players aren't the best the foreigner scene has to offer.
I think Axlsav is fairly representative of the entire team: not nearly as famous or skilled as his colleagues, but still has his name recognized by a lot of people. even if Axslav is up against an opponent many would consider to be the favorite, it's not too big of an upset if he's able to edge him out.
iS is one of the better NA teams out there, doing their best with what many would call lesser players.
Hopefully the players are able to grow given the opportunity iS offers, and help each other become better individual players so eventually the entire team can start to stand up to what is quickly becoming a very competitive team scene.
Gratz to both of them and iS.
But I agree, TubbyTheFat was such a coll ID, I hope you can somehow conserve it.
Congratulations on obtaining a great team Tubby.
