Is that actually true or just speculation?
Get well soon Puzzle, such a solid playstyle and a player who really would have torn up foreign tournaments if he played more of them. Hopefully he still can!
But he probably is ill. If he just wanted to leave Slayers, he could have done so without dropping out of GSL. Basically giving up your Code A spot and making so you need to qualify again is a huge commitment. He has to be either wanting to retire or actually sick.

In the context of the interview, it was almost certainly a joking comment at the time.
If there was a more serious undercurrent, then that's interesting in hindsight.
Another Slayers player, Miya, said in an interview that Puzzle really was demoralized about his loss to the hero.join. Considering how a lot of other players who have lost to the Kespa players in WCS were all distraught, I'd say Puzzle really was pretty shattered

I'd like these sort of things to be clear before putting them in a news headline instead of an ambiguous "source".
Mr Bitter mentioned it was pneumonia on Wednesday's broadcast. Other than that though there doesn't appear to be any official conformation. We wish him all the best and hope for a speedy recovery.

I don't think the air in Seoul is the cleanest in the world, Tastosis occasionally mention it. Pollution certainly doesn't cure many illnesses as far as I know... It's also VERY cold when it wants to be too.

I think these 2 posts should be highlighted on the top of the page to cut down on the amount of Jessica speculation going on.
I'm no fan of Jessica, but I think people should hold on and consider to the facts before jumping to speculations..
Slayers in a bad spot for tomorrow, up against LG_IM with Coca and pudgel sick whilst IM has their full roster available. Rough start of the GSTL season for them T_T Hope pudgel gets well soon.

I'm quite sure it's not anything too major. But it's still enough to some doctor tell him that he shouldn't participate in tournaments... Maybe some semi-serious wrist injure or something.
Edit: Oh, so it might be pneumonia. That really sucks.
Pneumonia is getting more dangerous these days since MRS bacteria is becoming increasingly common, due to mankinds retarded over use of antibiotics.
On the other hand was there recently a "breakthrough" within these area published just a couple of weeks ago were they showed that specific mixtures of different antibiotics frequently was potent against MRS bacteria.
Well hopefully not the case here, get well Puzzle!

Shit, if it is pneumonia, I hope he recovers quickly. I know it can be a pretty serious problem. T_T

I agree it's nothing to joke about, but for an otherwise healthy (I presume) young man in a country like Korea, he will most likely be back to full health soon.
Get well soon Puzzle. I have tried to have pneumonia where it had inflammated the membrane that surrounds the lungs, it is not very funny. Feeling with you man! Speady recovery my friend :D
I really hope you get well soon Puzzle, but withdrawing from two leagues makes me worry. Hopefully nothing serious and that you just need some rest and time and that we'll see you back in full form soon.

Otherwise health people dont normally get Pneumonia, what is it with pro gamers and lung conditions, SC had all those problems a while back too.

progamers don't really get out that often and keep fit though (according to stereotypes)
I really hope that he recovers quickly, are people sure it's pneumonia at this time? I just don't want it to be his wrist if anything. He's a great player with good potential, I'd hate to see his career come to an early end
Did anyone except me relate this to a thing that FXOboss said on chanman's show? After quanticmark said "SlayerS has been a trainwreck for a year" FXOboss said that the picture is worse than it actually is and the picture will get worse with some upcoming announcements...?
Its time for some revolutionary input devices or at least specialized medical service for pro gamers. I see a generation of wrist-damaged old guys staring at their screens...
I hope Puzzle gets well soon! I had a Pneumonia myself a few years ago, and can tell that's something you don't kid around with! I also hope he returns to SC2 when he's healthy again, he is a P I very much enjoy to watch.

Tbh, people who work normal 9-5 jobs or even unemployed people have just as much medical problems. 12 hours a day is fine as long as regular breaks are taken and ergonomics are carefully considered (sitting on a comfortable chair properly, monitor at eye level). Another important factor is lifestyle, players need to eat properly, exercise regularly and sleep well.

While I don't know the precise circumstances surrounding the choice, it seems to me most likely that they selected Oz because he was... next in line? These aren't team tournaments. In these tournaments, the individual is more important.

It's certainly more common among infants, elderly and immunocompromised, but it can affect just about anyone. Including otherwise perfectly healthy people. The severity of the disease differs a lot though.
IIRC sC had Pneumothorax, which is an unrelated condition.
I've had Pneumonia three times (I'm 20) and each differed in how severe it was depending on how early I decided to "check-in". It can start as a deep chesty cough, and as an asthmatic it can easily be misjudged. However the severity, it seems to always turn out well - unless an elderly person catches it, I believe the fatality rate is below 5%, and that's for the most severe cases. You can have pneumonia and not need to be hospitalized.
Hopefully Kim's condition isn't bad and it is just a basic case, taking precautions that are very well needed no matter how bad it is.It's a good sign that he's getting treatment and strong recommendations from the medical staff: it really would be impossible for him to participate even if released in time, he just has to concentrate on himself right now and progressing back to full health.
Best of luck Kim Sang Jun I'm sure he'll be fine :D

Puzzle is probably suffering from a collapsed lung caused by Pneumothorax, which is what Sc has or had. It requires surgery.
Pneumothorax is by definition 'a collapsed lung'. It's not something causing lungs to collapse. ;p
OT: You don't just get a Pneumothorax.. Most likely he would've had to break a rib and have it pierce his pleura? But that's, pretty unlikely, unless he was doing something where this would've been plausible. My point being that you don't just get a Pneumothorax from walking down the street ;> SO, elaborate if you can please!

You can actually get a pneumothorax without any trauma, most notably with emphysema. There are people who get spontaneous pneumothorax, most of them are young male thin and very tall (reminds you of someone?).

If you get a Pneumothorax caused by "emphysema"(I'm guessing you're talking about a mediastinal emphysema(pneumomediastinum?), then that is a severe trauma I'll have you know ;P And for spontaneous pneumothorax, those are quite rare ;P

I mean emphysema, the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. And no, spontaneous pneumothorax are not particularly frequent, but that's what Sc was suffering from, if Cella says that Puzzle is suffering from the same thing, i tend to believe him.

This post makes no sense at all. First of all, although pneumothorax is no laughing matter at all, there are plenty of medical conditions that are more serious than this. Secondly, why are you belittling someone who simply did not read the last page? Threads like this are mostly filled with useless posts that simply say "Get well soon" or something like that, so you can't really blame him for only reading the OP.
Understandable health is more important than Starcraft 2. Get well soon Puzzle, one of my favorite protoss players. Can someone confirm what happened to him? Status etc?
I think this will be more important as time goes by for pro-gamers. They need to be in tip-top shape all the time, like athletes, so they need to find a balance between playing all day, exercising/doing something else so they can perform at their maximum.

In most cases it's caused by something like a rib fracture, previous surgery around that area, or just a really bad wound. maybe even asthma or pollution in the air. But if he doesn't have any of these it's possible that it's just spontaneous pneumothorax.
Does anyone know if pneumothorax is common in Korea? Maybe the air in SK is cluttered with fumes and gases. Which could also be a cause. Who knows though.
