After a long hiatus, we're happy to announce that TL Attack is back. Hooray!
Time and Format
We'll be running the show every other week with two hosts and a new guest each time. The show will air every other week starting Wednesday, Oct 03 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). VODs will be made available quickly following the broadcast.
After exhaustive market research we've determined that midday on Wednesdays is the best time for everyone to watch. But seriously it's to accommodate the player and host schedules so we don't conflict with tournaments and other important non-TL Attack things.
Here is a video of TL Horse ATTACKING a city, ESPORTSopolis, set to ominous music. ATTACKING, Get it??
New Hosts
We got a lot of complaints about our hosts overshadowing our guests the last few episodes of TL Attack so we decided that this time we'll go with two regular hosts that do not have big outspoken personalities: EG.iNcontroL and ROOT.CatZ. We feel they're the perfect duo to stay quiet and let the guests be the center of attention for the show.
ROOT.CatZ EG.iNcontroL
First Episode and Guest
The first episode of the new TL Attack will be on Wednesday, Oct 03 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00). The first guest will be Liquid`Sheth and we'll be playing the Heart of the Swarm Beta, so get ready for some weird strategies and imbalanced units. It's a pity there's no warhound anymore, was really looking forward to our pro guests losing repeatedly to it. Additionally, we may play some Wings of Liberty, especially for certain (cough Kulas Extreme) custom maps.
Liquid`Sheth
Do you want to play?
OK so do you want to play against the special guest on the show, in front of potentially millions of tenths of hundreds of thousands of viewers? Here's your chance: create a cheerful in true TL Attack spirit using this template:
You can put anything you want on it, about any subject (the players, host, show, TL, ESPORTS in general, etc) and we'll even show it on stream before you play your match. Just post your cheerful in this thread with your battle.net ID (character + code) and we'll invite the winners during the show, so make sure to watch. We'll also be selecting potential opponents for Sheth in the normal, random trivia way.
See you guys next Wednesday!
TeamLiquid Attack! is a fun, casual event where a popular professional StarCraft 2 player plays custom 1v1s against community members. Typically, the player attempts creative or non-serious strategies while sharing friendly banter with the hosts. The show is a great way to get to know the personality of the popular player that might not normally be seen in serious ladder games or in tournaments.
Previous episodes of TL Attack can be found on TeamLiquid's YouTube Channel, featuring guests like TLO, ThorZaIN, Naniwa, DongRaeGu, and CatZ.

Fantastic. It's been awhile. Catz and Incontrol will be good, especially since I've never seen/heard anything they've done together--unless I've forgotten.

Ahh this show is so entertaining :3 definitely will tune in.. Hopefully I can answer the trivia correctly.. I want revenge for the last time Sheth roach all-inned me on it :3
I'd love to see some sc2bw as well, as well as other custom maps (i'm not that big of a fan of Kulas Extreme but people seem to like it). Maybe we could have a vote before every attack to choose a new custom map to play on? (it would bring variety to the show, and give some exposure to map makers).

Awesome I'm excited to see TL attack back; also YAY, a show people in EU can watch live!! :D
And obviously it was really a good idea to get a boisterous guest like sheth to really demonstrate just how diminutive the personalities of iNcontoL and CatZ are. lulz.
TL Attack is what let me to find this website when I stumbled upon an old one at the beginning of SC2. I wanted to know what TL stood for. Also the first time I heard that obnoxious voice of that iNcontrol guy

Event sounds great! Previous attacks were hilarious. About Kulas extreme though: you know there's an extreme version of about every map in the pool right...
I wanna suggest one where Incontrol and Nony are hosts, if only so that I can get that bit closer to SOTG.
Also, I'm looking forward to this! Can't wait for some cool stuff. Do you think it'll last the usual "Holy shit, has it been three hours?" or what? I want as much of this as I can get.

Great ! Look forward to it :D The only thing I don't like that much however is CatZ's presence, I saw Incontrol casting for Asus ROG iirc and yeah it was absolutely good, constant joke and trolling, which fits perfectly to TL Attack, but imo CatZ isn't the right person to put with Incontrol :/
PS : seriously guys, if you want a shitlot of fun, play at least one game on Georgeopolis, it's just an insane map.
OMG... FINALLLY!!!!! about time... my favorite show is back!!! and with Catz!!! sooo good.. The only thing better would be to have IDRA do another TL attack before WoL ends. Then he could do a HOTS TL attack and Idra could be on it for all the starcrafts.
After the descriptions of the hosts, I thought it might be Hot_Bid. But the rest of the article didn't really have that trolling finesse we know and love from him.
Great to have the show back. I remember the mondragon one a few decades ago I think either Idra or Nony smurfed in this episode, but mondragon won anyway and also figured out who his opponent was, seeing the postitioning of the buildings
This show is old as shit May it live to see its 100 year anniversary! =)
Oh yeaaah! Just asked about TL:Attack the other day on the ask TL staff anything thread, guess it was worth it! I would've loved if Chill would still host these but I guess Incontrol and Catz is a nice combo as well.
Hi all, TL Attack is so awesome. I watches some episodes earlier and it was great It would be so good to take a part in it with HOTS beta. Count me in guys if my cheerfull is good enough
I am a random player with almost 7k games played already and I reached as far as diamond league so far. I love all the races and I am not able to decide which race is the best for me. It would be so hard and emotional decision
I am really delighted that I got an invitation to take a part in HOTS beta. Actually I feel kind of awarded .

trololol this gonna be awesome, it's been so long since the last TL attack I can't even remember who was the last guest. Great news! :D

I like the contrast for the first show. Incontrol and Catz are quite and courteous, while Sheth is loud and very stubborn with his opinion... or did i get that backwards? Can't wait for this to start up again
catz and incontrol casting, who cares who plays ... its gonna be LEGEN ... wait for it ... DARY

Nice with the host upgrade! (<3 chill) Looking forward to the VODs.
As the cheerfuls are shown just before the game, maybe another angle would be some smacktalk. Like "I'm in your base Sheth!" only funny, and with creative illustrations.

Hope to see some stupid strategies well tought by inControl and CatZ.
A few ideas :
- Burning tides (lava rising map ?). - Let Sheth play with inControl or Catz with shared control during a game (So they can mess up with him). - Make Sheth sing whenver he looses a building or something like that. - Game with no queens.

I think the keyword in that sentence is "potentially". In the same way that I can potentially win GSL the next 5 seasons. Altough I don't think they even have the potential for that many viewers, as that many views would crash twitch, but that is another story.
But in all seriousness, maybe that's who's up next?
A more likely reason is probably that DRG was the last person to be a guest on TL attack and they just haven't updated the title.
Incidentally, for anyone wanting to get into the TL attack spirit the DRG vod: + Show Spoiler +
is a great episode, and several of the questions aged well (is P imba now that the infestor has been nerfed? Is 1-1-1 unfair? Will Flash destroy everyone when he switches over? Are mules OP? What is 180 cm?)
Just want to say, thanks for making this event euro-time friendly. Been living in the UK for the last year and the times have been shit for NA events. Though I do enjoy watching gsl at 10am.

It's almost perfect for Europeans: 9PM to about 11-12PM on a workday/schoolday. Any later and people would have trouble staying up to 1-3AM if they need to get up at 6AM next morning. It is still a decent time for east coast US. Many people get home from school/college at about 3PM, so they will be able to watch. People on the west coast may have a problem unless they have the day off or only morning classes, but it is pretty much impossible to find a 3 hour time slot that fits Europe and west coast US.
Additionally, US East/West-friendly time slots (like 9pm EDT, 6pm PDT) are completely unwatchable by euros and are jam-packed with other shows and tournaments.

By the way, please sort out your Twitch-channels man.. I think TL has 4 different channels, it's sometimes confusing as well as the "Following"-function on Twitch is more or less irrelevant since you don't know which channel is showing what
Hey, if Catz, Sheth, or Incontrol see this (or anyone else who can tell them this), an awesome challenge would be to have a game where Sheth can only engage with Abduct and then Neural and he has fight the opposing armies with their own units.

Yeah, that's what bugs me. Why is Sheth's APM sub-200, lol? I guess having Geoff and CatZ talk constantly is distracting him pretty bad, haha.

The point of TL attack is for the hosts to mock and ego over the player.

THIS IS TL ATTACK!
Also read the newspost.
I'm enjoying the show
I thought the newspost was a joke, the 'personality card' is OK, but watching these semi-pros flame Sheth isn't funny at all. I've watched other TL Attacks and never felt this :S
Can someone enlighten me on what is entertaining about inControl's style right now? It honestly just seems like he's beating down on Sheth verbally, and does not seem good natured at all. I am not a fan.

Then turn it off. There's plenty of other SC2 content. I find it hilarious. Sheth is way too mannered to be bothered by either of these hosts.
Having incontrol and catz harassing you while using push to talk is the equivalent of being touched by jyp, artosis hyping you for a month and joining EG.
Should be much better now that he's using voice activation

This is just sorta sad
The pros won every time in the old TL attacks because they were BW, and being much better than your opponent virtually guaranteed a win no matter what you did (see also: arbiterssss). In SC2, even with relatively mild handicaps, your average diamond player (listening to the stream, no less) could take down more or less anyone with the right timing.
Edit: for the love of god, don't anyone go and derail the thread because I mentioned BW in the SC2 forum. Just have fun watching Sheth play a non-serious event, or watch something else.

I've seen Mvp beat a Diamond player handily playing with only one hand on his mouse, that's really just not true.
Sheth is playing two very young pro's back to back (Boyo and Xenocider). I thought he was gonna have hilarious constraints against like platinum players.

Fair enough, perhaps I exaggerated a bit, now that I think of the GSL off the record games. In any case, the last few opponents on this event have been pretty good -- we want random gold leaguers for maximum enjoyment, not players that Sheth has faced before at an MLG...

He doesn't seem to grasp the idea of TL Attack, they're supposed to be doing this. Geoff doesn't usually tease players this much. He's the host of a show (with CatZ) and they have a show to put on.

TL attack was originally a brood war show (based on BNet attack IIRC), when brood war was almost a decade old. It was hilarious back then, and it is still hilarious.

So much fun, I especially loved those lower players vs Sheth + ridiculous handicaps The pro plays were... out of place I'd say? GG and thanks Catz, Geoff and Sheth!
Suggestion: I would slightly prefer if the players came up with their own unique strats before coming on. Obviously you don't have to force them to prepare anything but it would be kinda fun
Otherwise it still works fine with the rules and restrictions

That was fun, I enjoyed playing Sheth. It's so intimidating being on stream and attempting to play but it's a great experience. I hope everyone else tries their best to get on next time, you won't regret it.
Great show, very fun. Particulary, when at the end, Sheth saved Catz and InControl's asses after they had been riding him for an hour! In terms of feedback - Sheth is a perfect contestant but the hosts need more of a connection; a bit of banter. HuK and Idra or DRG and MMA for fierce rivalry, or Destiny/WhiteRa/Dragon for a bit of personality. It doesn't really matter who the contestant is, as long as they're known, but the hosts have to have charisma. I for one, would love to see Nazgul playing while TLO and DeMusilM lay down the gauntlet!
Was fun! Keep 'em coming! The winning conditions were really hard this time... Hope you'll get some EU's in as well so i have the chance to get smashed by a pro.
PS: After Catz mentioned the Building CC with npsvc I was asking myself: can walk a neural parasited svc into a nydus and what happens then?!
I unfortunately didn't enjoy this show very much. It is possible that it is just the initial differences from this to the original show, but regardless it felt like no one was actually having a good time.
I felt that the majority iNcontrols behaviour as host was inappropriate in one way or another. When he was attempting to give Sheth a hard time, he ended up roasting him hardcore to the extent where it seemed more like bullying than banter. I know this isn't how he meant it, but this is how it came off to me. When there was downtime, he was also very quick to just call it boring, and instead of trying to make the situation interesting he was quick to say "please just finish your opponent".
I think that Catz did a very good job at saving A LOT of awkward situations, and I actually have to give him huge kudos for that. I much preferred his way of poking fun at Sheth, because it was a lot more light hearted and something that Sheth actually could laugh at.
I don't enjoy the current format, I know this is a subjective thing but for my sake, I hope the show will change for the better
I had a lot of fun playing against Sheth. Of course I didn't kill his hatchery. Would have been a lame game then. This way were able to pull of some cool new zvz action if you ask me. Vipers with blinding cloud and burrowed roaches against roaches ultralisks, rly fun to play and watch. Thanks Sheth, Catz and InControl for this show. Oh and was I supposed to stream cheat? Saw the VOD and seemed like they thought I was. I didn't know and didn't do :D

This is exactly my thoughts. While I've not seen the BW-era shows, the ones with SC2 earlier were IMO much better.
I really liked the first episode although I still miss Chill. One thing that bugged me was that I thought TL:Attack was all about fans getting to play their role models and getting owned by them doing hilarious stuff. This episode we had at least 2 pro players going against Sheth which I personally didn't really like. We get to see pros vs pros all the time anyway. I wanna see scrubs vs pros.
Also an idea from previous seasons: You guys should get one (1) pro player to smurf on the show so the pro doesn't know it, just like Jinro did in I think Tyler's TL:Attack episode. I bet there are loads of people who'd loan you their account for stuff like that (me included).

i came here to say the same but someone already did it.

Yeah it was pretty clear that everyone prefers non pros playing the guest and 1 smurfing pro snuck in there somewhere.. we will def shift towards that I think. Hot_Bid mentioned it almost immediately after!
Running this show at EU times is tough too.. it makes the most sense in terms of scheduling but it's in general not a good idea to run a comedy show at that time as most europeans don't have a sense of humor >_<
first time ever posting on your forums ^^ After seeing TL Attack 2012 yesterday, and the few games on megaton custom map, i spend like an hour trying to find a similar version on the euro servers but i just could'nt. So a friend of mine made a similar version and put it online today, if you want ot try it, look for: OMG ! It's Megaton Extreme! (European Servers Only)

Hm.. this time it was okay for us EU. Playing at about 09:00 pm is not that of a problem for us hehe. Oh well maybe you gonna change it I suppose? nevertheless thanks. One question though bothers me: Do Hosts WANT guest enemys to streamcheat? :D I was a bit confused when I watched the VOD.
The only real criticism i have is one that the previous episodes of TL Attack have also suffered from, they start off really strict with giving the player a hard time and coming up with a lot of handicaps, but towards the end it almost always mellows out, and you could hear during Sheth's last few games that the hosts didn't really think of any handicaps to give him.
Since the player has agreed to the format before coming on the show, i think it would be an even better show if you could keep up the energy throughout the episode. Otherwise i really liked it
I dont like iNcontroL as a host. He is sometimes very dismissive against others in particular sheth's opponents. Another point is his personality in general, it doesnt fit very well to a format where you have a guest that should take the center stage. iNcontroL as a guest of the show would be great but not as a host.
Thats my personal opinion, you dont have to agree with it but think about it.

Haven't you read the OP? Incontrol and catz where the best 2 hosts precisely BECAUSE they wouldn't steal the spotlight from anyone

OK I have a few points:
1 - I hold the complete opposite view as this guy in regards to iNcontroL's dismissiveness. I thought he was too nice during the broadcasts and that there was too much circle jerking going on. 2 - There's no point in doing a TLA in a new game. The casters/hosts can't just set a handicap that is entertaining yet would still let the player win... we simply don't know enough about the game. If it had well in WOL, where strategies have been fleshed out over 2+ years, handicaps could have been WAY more creative. 3 - Is TLA about watching a creative professional figure our a new strat on the fly that works around a handicap or is it about watching a pro mechanically destroy his opponent (like with multi harass)?
I personally prefer the latter, and I've noticed that all TLAs have been geared towards the former. If it makes a better show for more viewers fine, I'll keep watching because it's still good, but not as good as it can be.

The whole point of TL:Attack is to have fun at the opponents' expense.
Both host were very good. It's just that some players can't really speak, tell stories, joke around when they are playing a game, especially when they are in a losing streak.
And i don't know why everyone is going against geoff, when catz did exactly the same thing. Geoff was even very careful at the end, asking sheth, if it is ok to do this and that. Seems like EU really don't get the jokes from US, while they do get the ones from Peru, although they are the same. What a mystery indeed.

Really where did you see that I got this from OP
We'll be running the show every other week with two hosts and a new guest each time. The show will air every other week starting October 3 2012 1500 EDT[local]. VODs will be made available quickly following the broadcast.
I was thinking it was going to be on every wednesday!!!

And I'd also like to say I liked when Incontrol and Catz recognized that there were actually some pro players playing against Sheth and they kind of aknowledged that while still keeping their TL Attack roles as hosts. That was really good and well done by them. I just hope we get to see more of the casual players getting crushed by the guest pro.
