Hello everyone at TL,
I do realise that many of you have seen this coming and I wanted to give an official statement regarding the closure of Type Gaming. I would like to share my honest opinion about the experience, I hope this will benefit people who will go in the eSports team adventure and shed some light for our fans.
The last year has been truly amazing, going from nothing to attending all major tournaments in Europe and even Sao Paolo was truly a dream come true. The eSports community I discovered has shaped my future for ever and I will never forget all the time in Type Gaming.
This, however, came with great challenges, the main one has been time. Keeping the team afloat took more and more time from all involved members, the expectations kept getting higher and higher but unfortunately our results did not allow for extra investment. As such, the environment became stressful and less enjoyable. This is when PhoeNix went back to Korea, soon after, DBS left the team house as well and only ReaL was living there. This became even more stressful as most of the expectations fell onto ReaL and of course, it became more and more difficult to play with a clean mind. This meant that it was even more difficult to increase our results.
After strong discussions, ReaL and I decided it was time to part ways, we did this amicably so that ReaL's talent would not be wasted and so that he could join another team however he wanted. I am happy that Ai decided to take ReaL onboard.
With ReaL, most of our Starcraft II roster left, that was expected and we were planning to re-inforce our troops in Japan (Thank you so much PSiArc, Sugeo and Nemuke!), this has been going quite well as PSiArc is arguably the best player in Japan and he showed very good results at the Tokyo Game Show. Nemuke himself is doing great with his fun stream (please keep watching him!) and Sugeo, casting games at Tokyo Game Show and running the Japanese Starcraft news site sc-times.net
Still, the amount of investment needed to reshape Type Gaming and bring it to the high level we've aimed at from the beginning became too much. Rather than being a B-Team, I decided that it was time to stop, regain energy, rethink projects and look forward to future endeavours.
Bellow, you will find the general statement which has now become the front-page of our website.
October 14th 2012
After a little over a year, Type Gaming closed its doors.
The adventure of eSports has been an amazing one which led us to meet great talents and forge friendships which will last a lifetime. Through the last months, the team has become increasingly difficult to run and maintain. This has been due to both decreasing results, lack of engagement and increasing financial pressure. Today we decided it was time say goodbye.
We would like to give special thank you to everyone who supported and helped Type Gaming in this year. Our thoughts goes especially to: Dennis TaKe from TakeTV for the amazing work he is doing everyday in eSports Razer for the awesome gear that we've been using and enjoying throughout our trainings and travels Cheaphotels Japan for providing the financial basis to run Type Gaming HolmesPlace for providing access to their amazing gym in Düsseldorf, Germany Lex for giving his Apartment to Type Gaming and running the startup with all his heart and giving chances to all the talented players and managers All the people who made Type Gaming: Lex, PSiArc, Nemuke, Sugeo, ReaL, DBS, PhoeNix, Els,JeeF, SuN, NaurtO, STW, breek, ENZA, mOps, Rj, Failo, SiN, Qui, Svane and dotanatoren
Thank you eSports.

Not really surprising at all.
Thanks NaurtO. :O
Money makes the world go round >.< Rip Type

The two months spent with you are part of the best memories I have, I wish you good luck in your future lex !
Creating and running a succesful start-up is one of the most difficult things to do, and that difficulty increases tenfold when the start-up in question is an e-sports team, so there's no shame in failing. Jolly good job trying and best of luck in your future endeavours.
+1 effecto and Demicore, thank you! <3
Always sad when a team closes ,___, best of luck in your future endeavors
Sad day Gl for the future
i love the courage of building the new team from scratch when i first heard of TYPE gaming. Sadly things didnt turn out so well. Wish you all the best of luck Thanks for the games.
I hope that all the players left on the roster find homes and that Lex continues to work in E-Sports.
Watching Phoenix and Real streams when sc2 was still getting off was one thing I used to look forward to everyday. I am sad that type is closing as it was my favorite little team that could. I hope to see Real continue to grow and maybe see Phoenix play on a big stage one. Thank you Lex for all you did.
RIP Type Gaming

Sad to see Type Gaming fall. I really hope, personally, that the Japanese players find a new home and a new team that's willing to help boost up the Japanese SC2 scene.
Always sad when a team has to close.
Awhh :[ I really liked Naurto. GL to you though!
this is unfortunate , sad to see teams disband , the more the better i say for e-sports more team more competition.
A sad day but one handled with class.
Cheers to the memories forged and good times had.
Really makes me sad This was basically the only competitive team in Japan D: Hopefully someone picks the players back up so they can keep competing, and doing what they love!
A sad day when a team must disband/close. GL in future.
Too bad :< Whats up with DBS? he was getting rly good as he practiced so much, is he retiring or just playing casually now?
Sorry to hear. Hope you all find a new team and or opportunity.

DBS started school again. The deal was that he could take a year off school to try and play in big leagues. The year ended and school is more important than Pro gaming at this stage. I am quite sure he will try again after he gets his diploma, perfect time to take another year off and follow dreams.

Always sad to see this kind of thing..

Glad to see that theres finally a statement regarding the situation after it was clear for weeks that Type will dissolve anytime. Sad to see another team dissolve.
Sad to see, but definitely knew it was coming. Thanks for giving us the details. I hope the players find their place and enjoying the new teams they go too. Good luck in your future endeavors =)
It's always unfortunate when a team closes, but at least you guys had a great experience. Also too bad for DBS i guess, he was getting rly good ^^ hope he'll give fulltime a shot again in the future.
type was a good team with real, phoenix and dbs.. goodluck with ur new projects!
Seeing teams disband is always sad, but i felt like besides their koreans who switched to other teams they really didn't have any players in the spot light, and besides streaming I felt like they didn't do much to promote them. Feeling bad for all the players though, there aren't many player houses and I'm guessing their's was sponsored by type
You're welcome for the help in the beginning Gl with whatever you do, Alexis. It was a good experience to work with you.
It was really great an experience, a great honor at the same time, to be part of Type. I can't help but wish I had been able to preduce a better result and contribute more. good luck to everyone who supported Type!

was fun

I loved the aTn-Type alliance...

RiP type ! best of luck to all involved.
Thank YOU team ReaL for being apart of the sc2 community.
I think DBS Phoenix and Naruto will get picked up and I wish the best to those trying to find another team.
Sad news I hope my good friends Sugeo and Nemuke will find another great team soon
Not unexpected, but still sad. Best of luck to everyone in their future!
It's a sad day. Being a fellow Japanese, it's unfortunate to see these Japanese players teamless.
But I really respect the decision to call it quits before things get worse, in which case everyone would be unhappy.
Loved to watch Phoenix's stream... Well wish u all the best
Underperformers die first.
User was warned for this post

Thank you for giving it a shot and letting players like real, dbs and phoenix live their dream! GL in all future projects.
I really miss watching PhoeNix play. He was one of the first people I saw playing doubleling-corruptor successfully way back when Tal'Darim Altar was a new map.
I was really exited, when I heard ReaL and especially PhoeNix were moving to Germany to create a team house here. The Episode of 'the grass is always greener' with Rotterdam and MrBitter with PhoeNix and ReaL was also incredibly funny. Although you could see this coming in the last weeks, I'm quite sad it has to end this way. Best of luck to all the players in their future!
RiP..Unfortunate, but I guess it was meant to happen, I mean, with the players they 'had' <.<
But best of luck to everyone of the TG crew in the future
Too bad they quitted, wasn't expecting this for a certain part. I mean if people like what they do..
I saw this one coming monthsss ago , sad news though ;(
Thanks for everything! =)

they wont because they stopped playing professionally. DBS is back in school, phoenix is in korea and stopped playing, naruto has a real job and no time to practise enough to compete in progaming.
RIP type good job for supporting japanese players hope best of luck to all of you in the future!
Sad, but to be expected. Love and passion for what you're doing obviously isn't enough, even though certain people keep claiming it is.
All the best to everyone involved.

Naruto? Isn't he "just" a handsome casual co-caster on TaKeTV nowadays?

DBS stopped playing I think and NarutO is on MYM's academy roster. No idea about Phoenix though.

Real tragedy, enjoyed watching this team grow in the past. Sadly they never had the results and their disband was not unexpected
It is always a sad day indeed when a team has to close their doors Best of luck to all the players from Type. I hope we'll see you guys owning up the scene again soon!
I always wanted to see somebody named Moon join Type. Good luck in the future though!
What will happen to Nemuke?
I think this is very sad but also very telling.
If a pretty well conected team like type is unable to find sponsors that are willing to invest in a team like this:
good players good management streams EU+Korean+Japan conections team-house
it seems to be harder as ppl might think to build up a team.
TT But what about the Japanese players? Nemuke is such a cool dude. His stream is always fun! Breek was one of the nicest players I've ever met even though he retired from you guys. I'm going to miss Type.
Sad news. Best of luck to all former Type players especially the Japanese and hope they find new teams and ways to strengthen their scene so we can see more from them in the future!
Always sad to see a team shut down

How can I get in contact with the owner of Type? (Lex) ?
Anyone ?
Unfortunate. Real had a lot going for him.
It was a really cool project, one of the most interesting happenings in the German SC2 scene in the last year, thank you for the dedication.
Nooo

Never heard of you.
GL in the future to everyone on the team
Sad to see another team bite the dust, gl to you all in the future. I hope everyone finds a new home.
Man, someone let Naruto catch a break x.x
Why do some people feel the need to tell everyone that they've never heard of Type?
Seems kind of disrespectful.
Well yes we knew that this would happen sooner or later. The mood was already weird after WCS XD~
Anyway, thx to Type, I have made some wonderful new friends! I am very grateful for that <3 Best wishes ^^
I always wonder about teams with, no offense to these guys, lower level and less exposed (note, I'm not saying these are mutually exclusive) players. Was the average salary on this team like 50$/month? Less?
Until now I had never heard of these guys....

Seems kind of disrespectful. I'm kind of surprised most people haven't heard of at least real he had some top 4 finishes at the start of the year and was always an odd player to watch I thought at least he would be notable.
I enjoyed watching ReaL play, sadly he is the only one i knew from the team. I have nothing but respect for Type Gaming. Owning and running a team is extremely demanding and you guys managed to do it for quite some time. I wish you all the best!

RIP Type I really liked that team

Thank you everyone for the kind words <3 We did our best and we really had a good time, thanks to the all the fans who made our days.
I spoke to all players and everyone is moving on well, our Japanese player are looking for a foreign team so that they can practice well. Really looking forward to seeing them perform, PSiArc will be in Paris in two weeks as well as he qualified, team manager: Watch out for PSiArc, please pick him up together with Nemuke, they are awesome players!
