In light of all the drama on TL in the past few days I'm here to suggest we all start pushing for something positive and fun.

FPL was one of the best reasons for signing up to TL. It's also the reason GosuGamers got a lot of members. The betting aspect is addicting. TL will have a surge of members if they resurrect this and advertise it right.
Team Liquid Fantasy ProLeague!!!!!
The new season of Proleague is coming up. Now is the time to get TL to bring back FPL. It will be focused on one game instead of two and this is a great way to learn about the Kespa players. Some you will hate for being antiteam killers such as RorO. TRUST ME, stay away from RorO even in SC2. And others you will learn to love as ProLeague monsters such as BaBy.
It is up to you as the player to decide between a favorite player worth tons of points or a few lesser ones that might be consistent. It is the time where you may see Bisu go into a massive slump or win 55 games in a season.
FPL is what made me feel like the complete nerd in the past 5 years. I would go to college classes bragging about how good I was doing in my league. Playas would be like, "you got brady homes" and I was like "nooooo brah, I'm starting Yoon-Joon this week, Red Shuttle time baby!!!!! This ain't Fantasy Football, this is Fantasy Starcraft!".
So here is the plan. Everyone in support of FPL show it here and let's try to get TL to do FPL on their website again.

Haha I remember telling a lot of real life friends and relations about my FPL team when I was in the top 5.
Please bring back FPL . It makes me watch like 5 times as much starcraft.

This^ I watched every single match of proleague when FPL was around. It made it so much more interesting to watch and I really studied the players. Once it stopped I only watched SKT and a few others. Fantasy football is the only reason I watch so much NFL. It makes it a lot more fun.
On October 17 2012 23:16 di4m0nd wrote: That would be pretty awesome but why only Proleague why not GSL?
Why not GSTL: The all kill format with GSTL for the whole season makes it harder to predict player that will be sent out. Plus you need a gomTV subscription to follow GSTL.
Why Kespa: Free to watch. Also the single game format means more players will be consistently sent out. Therefore it's easier to count on the FPL player you chose to play their games. Plus who doesn't want TBLS on their team.
I know there is a lot to debate on this, but I would want Kespa FPL seperate from GSTL because it's free and I don't have time to watch both leagues even if I could. One day maybe when the GSTL starts to compete with Kespa teams then FPL can combine both.

I think many people used this as an excuse to cheer for Flash as he crushed their favorite players. T_T
we need it back. it always used to be one of my favorite things, athough I wasn't able to watch too many matches live; I've spent hours researching and thinking about my team.
the picture in the OP reminded me btw of the time when I totally screwed myself over, when I predicted a Soulkey slump which didn't occur. my worst anti-team pick ever...
I joined TL to play in the fantasy league but i missed the sign up date. Seriously we need this back T_T (I suspect that quite a few people would be opposed to have a fantasy league for something like the EGMCS or IPTL)

I was banking on Free continuing his 20 game slump into the next season and then he won like 6 in a row.

There is a section for it. Go to: Features->Fantasy. There you can read all the rules and see the results of last season. And you also get a sweet trophy icon if you win it all.

Ah, thanks. I just read through it.
No chance i'd win it though. Looking through the player's list of last time proleague fantasy, i don't know any players roughly under 6 points. I assume the sc2 proleague will have the same format as bw proleague (as opposed to the hybrid monster)?

eeeuh, There is a free option for GSTL/GSL in case you didn't noticed. There has been for every single GOM event except the arena of legends which is gone now.

Ill start working on a in depth guide to each kespa players history and worth. Maybe that will help motivate TL.
As far as gstl being free, I thought that only is if you watch it live. Where as kespa has free vods too.

Ok that is fair if you mean vods but better mention it since it leads to misunderstandings. Anyway, sorry for it and good luck with this.
looool I can actually boast that my FPL team was better than someone else's
ya killer my captain because he was tearing shit up at the time...but it did not bear enough fruit for me, wooki was a rising hero in WeMade at the time and flash was resting because it was before his wrist surgery so my unlikely pick of hoejja was surprisingly carrying the team like a baws.
but the thing about FPL is thati t made you root for unlikely players who you'd never root for ever.
now I have seen everything. Still I would be down, I always have tons of fun with my fantasy NHL and there doesn't look like there is going to be a season this year
Seriously more people need to get involved in FPL. I'm so glad I was convinced to play it, one of the best features of TL ever. I'd rather see FPL than a Liquid team.

People keep writing threads about what they think is wrong with the pro-scene, HoTS, sc2 generally and what they think needs to be changed. While many of these threads are good in themselves, there is one thing that would improve sc2 immeasurably - and that is FPL .
And this thread needs a bump so more people see it. It's buried on page 3 at the moment.
I really hope it will come back because it was the funniest interactive feature on TL. It would be cool if the next ProLeague manage to incorporate some other teams, since every year a team disappear.
I am awesome at FPL. Played twice, got 3rd and 10th. This game is soooooo much fun, you wont believe it if you never played it. It is even better than Liquibet which is already pretty great.
I want FPL in this League, all remaining Kespa and ESF teams in one big League. Do you buy Elephants or bears? Haha, would be epic.
I played the SC2 fantasy GSTL when it was out and i followed it so much closer. As someone who never watched proleague, this would be a great way for me to get in to it.
Just, please, give a heads up and enough time for all semi-regular visitors to hear about it and get into the game. The worst thing about FPL is when it just gets announced and registration is closed in such a short period of time, that all kinds of people afterwards come to the threads to ask about why didn't they know about it, why can't they participate etc. The more, the merrier, so please give enough time for everyone to join.
The TL Writers apparently have a Fantasy GSL League. Us regular folk need one too!
(And honestly, it doesn't even need to be a super cool program thing. We could just organize groups and a scoring system and do it all manually. My friend and I do this, but it'd be more fun with more people.)
Fuck soO and crazy hydra, they fucking troll my teams so hard. Soo in particular, "gee I'll make OSL Ro4 and go like 6-1 at the end of last proleague but I'll go 1-5 or some shit like that". Also I had bogus on anti team and he wrecked the shit out of me R5 and R6 2011 (with crazy hydra on anti, but he was mediocre anti pick. Bogus wrecked me).
fantasy proleague is the best, sc2 fans should do it.
I don't see the rules about how many players you can pick in the beginning. Also, it's different from fantasy football in that you play with so many people, that several users can have the same player in their team, right?

Yeah, it's usually done by a price per player. So, the better players cost more since they will likely provide better results but you can only get so many big names before you run out of your "money".
Would anyone in this FPL cost $10 (the maximum)? I wouldn't put Flash at $10, and after how Rain (by.sun) scrubbed out of GSL, he isn't worth $10 either.
Anyway, if Bisu is worth only $1 or $2, I'm picking him xD
For reference, in the last FPL: $10: Flash, Jaedong, Bisu $9: None! $8: Stork, Hydra, Fantasy, ZerO $7: Stats, Movie, Bogus, Sea

It would depend on how Bogus does this weekend, but he definitely could be.
I just want to chime in for the nth time that I freaking love FPL and it was the sole reason for my creating an account on TL after lurking for a year. It doesn't matter if its for GSTL or Kespa Proleague, please please bring it back!!!
I would really love to see this back, it was great while it lasted, although I did suck hardcore. Right now I'm actually wondering why no one has filled the void, and if no good Fantasy league pops up here, ill probably try to just create my own eventually.. (I'm a freelance programmer)
BW FPL was so fun, would love for it to come to SC2 as well.
How it worked was basically every player had a price (based on how good they are), you had to choose 6 players+a team with total cost less than $x, and you also had to choose 3 players for your anti-team with a total cost at least $y. Players earn points for winning games, and depending on the season, for other stuff as well (e.g. going on a winning streak, breaking another streak, team winning, etc.) The exact scoring structure changes from round to round. Players on the anti-team worked the same way but counted negative towards your total instead of positive.
Also, repeating the advice to NEVER PUT RORO ON YOUR ANTI TEAM
Would be fun, I try to keep up on the liquibets, but forget sometimes due to the over abundance of tournaments, this I could definitely do, though, and it's also fun!
Is there an API somewhere to get the results of the GSTL soon after the matches have been played? How was the value of the players updated on TL before? Was someone doing it?
I'd love to see fpl return as much as you guys do, but I don't think it's possible this season. Maybe on the next one? Or how about starting halfway through this season, and we could base the prices on the earlier rounds?
On October 17 2012 23:19 Hall0wed wrote: I forgot that PL SC2 could mean more fantasy SC2. Definitely want to see that happen, the one season of fantasy GSTL was great!
Yes please! This would be great for TL and SC2. I knew nothing about football 2 years ago and wasn't interested in the least bit. Then, one of my friends convinced me to join a fantasy football league, and now I can name every (offensive) player on every team, and most importantly, I enjoy watching games that I never would have in the past. It would be awesome to have the same kind of thing happen in SC2.
Man, I forgot about this. Yes please for the love of god bring this back. Honestly this is what helps make PL so much fun. It's not just about your favorite player or race, it's now also about your favorite team and with FPL your drafted players. LR threads should be way more fun with this in place again.
Are we at least going to get a Liquibet on Proleague this year?
I think if they made it like highest point of the week wins a teamliquid shirt or something or mousepad more people would be more into it then just doing it for nothing

Depends if they decide to give him high price (to challenge the fanboys who would otherwise easily buy him if he's cheap), or low price (to reflect the reality that he doesn't impress with results yet). If the price is fairly low, then he won't be suitable for anti-team.

It could potentially combine both.
What about ever happened to fantasy for SC2? I remember ages ago there was one. I never followed it though.
Current GSTL format is no good for fantasy, there was just the 1 long season in 2011 that was fantasy-able.
GSTL is switching back to a longer season so it would be possible to do fantasy for both right?
Yeah, but with winners league style there's no guarantee of the players you picked playing. Where as in proleague you can be fairly certain some players are always going to play. But in GSTL if two players have good nights then all of a sudden the players you picked don't get a chance to play.

I would be very tempted to main team Bisu if the price is low.
The Fantasy GSTL was awesome for the one season that it was possible. Even if the schedule was really wacky because of FXO and United. It will be awesome to do this properly.

Read the rules, there's a minimum point total requirement.

Because your anti needs to have a MINIMUM of 13 points on it.
Okay, this just got a hell of a lot harder. It said I didn't have the full permissions to see the rules (???), so I was going off the GSTL rules. Thanks!

Makes sense tho, I was surprised you could pick and there was no announcement. But I was so happy with my team and I my anti-team would have made so many fanboys cry.
Nothing is easy anyway, who knows if Bisu starts rocking starting Sunday. Still, it's risky picking him as he'll get lots of playtime so it's either win or lose. ^^

I saw Wax said it's 4+ace. Pretty pointless to take that out right. Not sure about the race thing but I think any sane organizer would realize team would max out lineup on tosses if theres no restriction.

Pick favorite players, use secret formulas and aligulac, discuss best players, watch WCS VODs. Ridicule other teams, pick RorO on anti-team, watch the favorite team lose badly, cheer for the wrong players, anti-team wins everything, score becomes negative. This is seriously the whole reason why FPL is such a fun experience. Even if you lose you still have fun and it's just such an awesome extra thing that TL does for the community.

Me every round XD I think I have less chance of winning this than the lottery! It's more fun though
@BD I always vote for monk anyway because he is the one true TL Dong :o

I took FPL for granted, no im getting worried there won't be one Please TL reconsider!
R1CH created the system, Monk values the players, and then I manage the results and scores. R1CH, Monk, and I are all available to be voted on in the L'sTLCMAT if you feel thankful
Ah that's is awesome, it was well done last time around. What I don't get is why you're making a thread about it, can't you just start it once the line-ups are announced and players are valued? =)
Really looking forward to PL, and playing Fantasy with my 2 friends and having some banter is really something I'm looking forward to! Keep up the good work then BisuDagger!

Yeah, FPL is the reason Proleague is my now favourite tournament by far. I still remember going for a beer with 2 of my mates, spending 4 hours just arguing about our FPL picks. Was awesome!

I started this initiative 2 years ago before FPL existed for SC2
Still waiting on official rosters before player values can be determined.
BY THE WAY, I'M RUNNING FANTASY PROLEAGUE JUST LIKE I DID LAST YEAR. SO IF YOU APPRECIATE MY EFFORT THEN VOTE FOR ME HERE!
you don't run fantasy proleague, you help with adding results. there's a difference - lots of people help with running results. you should not take credit for monk + co's work

I gave them credit and told people to vote for them
God, that one round I actually made top 100 I was so absurdly proud of myself. I do have an awful tendency to pick top five players just as often for my anti team as for my main team though...Oh yeah, and the agonizing over creating the wittiest team name taking just as long as the agonizing over the team itself! Good times.
Fantasy Proleague is amazing, I credit it as being the single most important thing that actually made me interested in, and fans of, Kespa players. Definitely looking forward to it again.

Hey guys, did i miss information about it or is it not yet confirmed if we will have a new Fantasy Proleague? Some friends and me are super pumped for a new season but getting a little scared now since only 3 days left before it starts? :o
goddammit you guys. why did you have to post in this thread When i came to TL i saw a [FPL] tag being at the top of the sc2 general section, my heart became overjoyed and then i saw it was the request thread....
May actually give this a go this time around. Last time didn't know anyone in PL aside from the celebrities. Now I'd say I know a good 30% of them :D I smile favorably on my odds.

Pretty sure if you'd just made a team completely at random every round you'd have still done better that I did T_T
Hi there awesome FPL people. Any chance we could have the Sign ups for Round 2 being up for a while longer/earlier this round? I feel a lot of ppl keep missing out because its only on for 1 or 2 days :D
