Das Keyboards: The best mechanical keyboards. Period.
Das Keyboards don't have radioactive logos or a forty-key programmable thingamajig hanging off the side. Das Keyboards do not have a temperature sensor, alarm clock, or a built-in foot rub. Das Keyboards do not even have letters.
What Das Keyboards do have is German-engineered, gold-plated mechanical key switches that allow your fingers to dance across the buttons that you use to game like a ballet dancer on her tippy-toes. They are perfectly sensitive and react to every touch. Businessweek notes, “...typing feels like crushing tiny glass crystals with miniature hammers. It's addictive—like popping bubble wrap...” Even the sound is better; Das keyboards are known for their distinctive, soothing clicks.
It's different playing on Das. The keyboard is the tool of the trade for pro-gamers, and we would not take anything less than the best. There is nothing quite like having a perfectly balanced, perfectly tuned, touch-sensitive mechanical keyboard. Das makes them better than anyone else. Don't take our word for it. Try them yourself.
Das Keyboard needs no introduction from ROOT, but we are all ecstatic to have them as a sponsor and to use their immaculate keyboards. Das Keyboard is the best mechanical keyboard by way of consumer and industry reviews by far. They just feel better. Our entire team exploded with excitement when we heard that Das might offer us a sponsorship deal, and the players told Paulo to make it happen. We owe them nothing but gratitude for supporting our team. If you're a fan of ROOT Gaming and you're thinking of investing in a professional keyboard, look no further than Das. You'll know as soon as you hear the first click that you've never made a wiser investment.
So cool! On a similar note, when I bought my Das I thought I was getting the one with the brown switches. I mis-microed though and got the one with the blues. The place I bought it from was nice enough to let me return it, but typing on the blue keyboard was so fun that I didn't have it replaced. Go Das Keyboard! Go Root!
I remember when ROOT announced they were coming back, a bunch of queens posted in the thread saying they were a clan not a team because they wouldn't get sponsorships. I kept countering them in the thread and they just doubled down as the queens are apt to do. Hopefully some of them are reading this now and will re-evaluate their contribution to the community at least a little bit .
edit- I've never hear of these, and I don't understand the OP as to what exactly are those keyboard.. link to their site please (of course i'll google, but for other people)
Really cool The important question: will there be some kind of Root version of the keyboard? I highly doubt it since it doesn't seem to match the DAS image, but I'm curious. Aside from that, does anyone know which switches they sell the keyboard with?
honestly tho Das makes some badass keyboards and I was pleasantly surprised by this announcement. although not the biggest sponsorship deal evAR, still a pretty positive sign for ROOT as a team. I had my doubts they would be able to grow out of their clan-type status and become a true team but here we are
Great news for Root. Lack of sponsors was their big weakness previously. Hopefully this partnership with Das can be the start of increasing success for the team.
I always wanted one of these amazing Keyboards instead of that Black Widow that automatically tends to break after round about 1 year. But it's so hard to get a "Das Keyboard" here in germany even though its a german name :-D most of the keyboards (like the USB multimedia-button one) doesnt even have an EU version :-7
I Was thinking of which keyboard I should buy, and it was either between Das or Razer. I liked the clicky sounds Das keyboards make and heard good reviews about them but was not 100% sure which one I should get, since Das is about $50 more than a Razer Black Widow. I was leaning towards Das at about an 80% rate... but now that Das is sponsoring one of my favorite teams, I'll go with Das.

I bought a das a while back to support Destiny when he was trying to get response sponsored sad that Destiny's no longer with ROOT to support this but non the less glad das is finally getting into esports :D !!!
DAS makes some very slick high quality keyboards. Def some of the best in that price range.
Objectively speaking, however, they're not technically the most accurate keyboards. Those would be boards with Topre switches (Happy Hacking or Realforces)
That said MAD PROPS TO ROOT AND PICK UP A DAS IF THEYRE IN YOUR PRICE RANGE!
Exciting to see. Haven't used a DAS keyboard yet, but I've heard good things about them and will definitely keep them in mind when it's time to get a new one.
I was checking out some Das keyboards on ebay that were only ~ $40 plus $15 shipping, but with this announcement actually leaning towards buying one. I'm definitely going to let them know that it is because of this sponsorship, and anyone else who buys one soon should do the same!
This is awesome, especially since it is not only a new sponsor for ROOT but a new sponsor that hasn't sponsored an esport team before. Now it is our job to show them that their marketing budget is well spent supporting a team like ROOT, and even that ROOT is worth investing in to help them grow as a team.
Congrats to Das and Root! Will def look to buy a das once my filco dies, just because of this. I hope people really buy das products out of appreciation for their stuff like this. Saying thanks makes them feel good, buying their merch, and showing them that sponsoring esports DOES pay for itself, makes them feel better.
Ironic because Destiny isn't on team anymore xD. I used DAS before zowie, and before razer keyboards and they were not that bad just a bit too big for my liking. Gratz
Wow nice sponsorship! I got the chance to use a Das at work for a while and I thought it was a good keyboard. Hopefully ROOT can get more sponsors soon ^_^
For those of you who may be skeptical about buying a keyboard without letters printed on them, you can get lettered versions of das keyboards too! I have one with brown switches and letters and i love it! Great to see that they are sponsoring a team like root =) congrats guys
Sick sponsor, grats to Root. I've been thinking about buying one of these for a while, might just do it now.

Yea I was just thinking it's a little counter productive to advertise the keyboard as not having letters.
It is ironic that Destiny swears by them and is now not a part of ROOT when this happens! I wonder whether Catz will now use the Filco Brown but recommend Das Keyboard just as he used to recommend the Razer Blackwidow.
Edit: I just noticed that Illusion said basically the same as the first comment, but then that's not surprising and can't be helped, because it really is very ironic!
I've been seriously considering getting a new keyboard recently and these look perfect. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for, I'll definitely get one of these sooner or later.
I've got one of these at home and at work I've tried other keyboards with black/blue switches but my favourite is definitely the das with the brown switches. Good stuff!
Awesome news! I tired of the news feed in the to left bring only bad news. So when I first saw this I thought something bad happend to Root. But I'm glad to hear the awesome new.
I was trying to decide what keyboard to get to replace my really old, non-functioning one, and as ROOT is my favourite team I'll be buying a DAS now. Root4ROOT!

congrats!
All mechanical keyboards are loud if you bottom out the keys. Blue switches make loud clicks when the keys actuate though, so if you want a quiet keyboard I'd avoid blues.
Good thing I love ROOT and already have a Das Keyboard. So I'm already supporting you guys! Yay! Super super congrats to you guys for getting such a clutch sponsor!
Gratz on a new and totally awesome sponsor. I might have to say fuck it and grab a Das whenever I pick up a mechanical keyboard ... despite me really wanting the letters o_o
Wow. Great pickup for ROOT. I have a Das, and I love it. I got mine because of Destiny back in the day. Destiny used to plug the shit out that keyboard before his Quantic days. My first mech keyboard.
This has been mentioned, but I think it is worth reiterating since it kinda got buried: Das doesn't only make blank keyboards (although the blank "Ultimate" model does look pretty slick). Check out the "Professional" model on http://www.daskeyboard.com/ if you want one with labeled keys, which may be more practical for some people.
The second that my Blackwidow dies, I'm getting a Das to support ROOT! I've always loved the sound of Das keyboards, I just got this Blackwidow because I didn't have to order it.
I'm thinking of getting a Das keyboard at some point just to have something to compare my Filco too (Filco's are so damn nice), cool seeing them pick up ROOT as a sponsor :D
Das is a great sponsor , I love my WASD so I've never had a Das, but I seriously considered and still consider getting one, great keyboards all around.
I actually got one of their keyboards from then when I did some casting for them.
Been using the thing ever since with absolutely no issues, I'm sure the root guys will enjoy the free keyboards and whatever else they get out of the deal.
:> Love my DAS Ultimate Silent, clearly one of the best Keyboards I ever used (Including several Filcos a Noppo and a reworked IBM Model M with different springs..). Really appreciate the work you put in your keyboard models (Small blunder for me: The shiny surface wasn't the best choice :>)...
you know, i was just going to post the standard congrats on the sponsorship post.... but after reading the OP i might really consider one of these things for my next keyboard. "..typing feels like crushing tiny glass crystals with miniature hammers." i might just have to have this.
I've always wanted one of these. After my Razer broke after 2 days, and i recently spilled water on my 6gv2 (which i loved dearly by the way, RIP Arnie) i am in the market for a NEW KEYBOARD.
Das keyboard is not [Companyname] keyboard, it's "the keyboard" in German. Wie either say "Die Tastatur" ("die" is the female version of "the") or "Das Keyboard" ("das" is the neuter version of "the".)
Awesome!! I picked up my Das Keyboard because of its popularity with Starcraft players. I barely play Starcraft anymore myself, but after using my keyboard for the past year, I'm a Das customer for life. Love my keyboard! Glad to see Das getting on board with ROOT!

Guys! Let's make their PR-department regret! ^_^
should mention Destiny in that email as well, he probably contributed to a lot of sales they wouldn't otherwise have had back when he had a Das on stream
Is it a "real" sponsorship or just products? Getting keyboards from such a recognized brand as Das is of course awesome, but what the teams (excluding EG) needs is more money for salaries and traveling (read: I want ROOT to send TT1 to Dreamhack Winter where he will showcase his "ultimate pvp build"). :3
so i'd love to buy me a das keyboard, because i rage on my original keyboard so much for my losses (._.). on another note, nothing was sexier than hearing destiny's das keyboard from his mic....nothing....it was the sexiest thing i've ever heard....das4life #Yolo
pretty sick sponsorship!!!...its too bad they've switched manufacturing companies and their new keyboards are less than impressive..in my opinion...
i had a das model s pro (blues), and i loved it...so this criticism does come from experience. ..i had a few keycaps break on me so when i went to return it they told me that das has discontinued that specific model i came across some google searches that led me to find out about the new manufacturing company..which i hear isn't so good...i never saved these articles or anything but it was this new found information that led me to get a filco keyboard....which i scored for $20 cause i got full credit back for my das and the custom caps i had.
so all in all, i dont have the new das keyboards i can't say anything about them...but that fear that they aren't as good still lingers around in my head...and as far as my new Filco Majestouch 2 Ninja goes....best thing i've ever typed on...even better than my original das.
Grats on the sponsorship! I haven't ever heard anything less than positively glowing things about Das Keyboards. Leave it to ROOT to bring some good news to the scene after the past week or so, too!
On October 26 2012 05:56 fireforce7 wrote: ...just don't get blue switches haha
Strongly disagree, blues are much nicer for everything but double tapping, and they're not all that bad for that. Black switches I can't stand, not nice to type on, no idea why people swear by the things. The browns in the Silent Das are pretty OK if you're anti blue switches, but they dont feel (or sound) as good as the blues.
My Das ultimate Silent is absolutely the best keyboard I have ever had! I'm actually thinking of buying a second one with blue switches! I recently went through an apartment fire and my das was inside. It still is working like brand new! :D Congrats to ROOT and DAS!
I tweeted to Das about a month or so ago that I wanted them to sponsor an eSports team. Not presuming my tweet had anything at all to do with it, but it's nice to see them take the plunge.
I've had a Das Pro Silent for almost a year, and it's the best keyboard I've ever owned. Amazing piece of kit.
