What you do is called: try to get attention This. OP cares abount feeling recognizitiion for "caring" about others. People who actually cares about others, help other people and don't "brag" about it. This is such a poisonous attitude. If people help others and want to mention it let them be. It's a whole lot better than people not helping others. I never said he shouldn't do this. But I just hate "liars" (though he may have tricked him self into thinking that he actually does this to help other people rather than helping him self), and for me this is a matter of principle.
Depending on how broadly you look at things, you can say that everyone does everything they do for themselves. Charity work? You only do it because it makes you feel good. If it made you feel bad you wouldn't do it. Feeding homeless? Makes you feel powerful and/or benevolent. Teaching others? Makes you feel smarter.
While some actions might not be genuine or be two faced in their intentions, the action itself should be weighed on how much good it does. This person is doing something that can truly help someone else, their personal reasons for doing so do not make it any less of a positive action.

I agree with the beginning, and there is nothing wrong about helping others for your own sake. I just dislike people bragging/lying about their motivations. As I said, this is a matter of principle for me.

The guilt of people seeing you smoke after you announced you were quitting doesn't out weigh the addiction to want to smoke another cigarette in many cases.
Yeah, of course there is a risk. But the guilt of people (1000's of people) seeing you smoke after you announced you were quitting sure makes it way way way fucking harder to not try your absolute fucking best to quit.
And this is day 4, so far so good! Im happy.
Thanks for the nice video, promise <3

If you listen to the video you hear clearly that he talks about himself not ret. He use rets problem to get attention to his own problems (not enough attention). This is not helpful for anyone involved. Not even for him because TL attention is not real attention. This kind of help bind resources that could used to really help someone.

Also the whole approach is wrong. From this thread and from rets side. Public announcement to build up pressure form outside, is not a good method to change something in your own life. Because its not the outside pressure and or support that will let you change it in the end. It is one of the things in life everyone have to do by himself.
Ontopic: electric smoke owns: i suggest a changeable batteries carrier with an DCT (Dual Core Tankomizer) (warm hard smoke) and a high nicotine concentration ( easy to go down ) in the beginning, not one of the "starter kids". Also dont buy cigarette taste liquid. They taste like shit. If you want to run "cold" i wish you good luck but remember this just in case.

Anyway, OP seems to be a big rocky fan, combined with some pursuit of happiness and has probasbly watched the "I am a champion"-video from youtube.

i haven't smoked in 3 years this february. i had a lot of trouble until i actually decided that i didn't like smoking anymore. even then i had to chew the gum while smoking non-tabacco to trick myself for a couple months. as soon as you get past the reward system part, it gets way easier.

Wait, is that a shit lot of money with Ret on the first picture ?
Anyway, as the guy above me said, the reward system is very fucking tricky, I realised it not so long ago, and when you think about it, knowing that it's bad to smoke and stuff, you're like "shit, that's freakin' stupid", so all I can say is :
Good luck Jos

quit smoking -> become thicker
sad but true

wow promise man is everything okay? you seem really down on yourself..
Yeah Ret I cant believe your doing it cold turkey! they say 4 days is all it takes to get over the chemical addiction so its all in your head now! but wow i do not envy how you must have felt this week.

smokin's (tobacco) bad.. Mmmmkay ?

Good luck Ret!
HerO, quit smoking!

In my opinion, both of you are absolutely right. I can really empathize with your desire to call the OP out, but ask yourself: what purpose am I serving by doing so? If the thread helps Ret, even if it was written for the wrong reasons, that's a net good.

Smoking is a great way to stay thin. I've thought about taking it up, but it's so expensive.
