Yes, he did pick up his play tremendously after getting crushed by MC and evened out his game with more standard play, but reading some of the reactions here you'd think we actually lost a premier player.
Either way he's made a name for himself and i wish him the best of luck with what he chooses to pursue next. (though i'm sure he'll be fine as long as he brings all his scv's with him =P. Sorry, couldn't resist)
More pros means more competition. I didn't like his play either, didn't mean he didn't deserve my respect.
If you leave the game, no one's gonna care about you either.

Are you trolling? You think MC, who has won more prize money than anyone else in the history of Starcraft 2 and took 3rd in the first season of OSL, is comparable to Rain who hasn't done well in like over a year?

I allways remember Grubby saying that cheesing a lot in game means you are the most dedicated to the game, because you want to win really bad

To be fair, everyone's clearest memory of Rain revolves around a game that is over a year old. That's hardly flattering.
eh...to be honest the only good things I could remember about him were his games vs boxer long time ago and his GSL season 3 game vs MC...sad he's gone though =/. Best of luck man if you're reading this.
Hilarious seeing a bunch of bronze to master league players totally bad mouthing rain. You guys couldn't get GM on KR in a million years. He was a great player. Most know for his famous 2 rax, but also very good at macro. The 2 rax is almost impossible to execute these days with the barracks build time nerf, bunker nerf, and queen buff. Yet he still impressively pulls it off. I will miss him. Good luck in his future endeavors.

people that thinks only standard play is "good" is very very wrong, take for example koreans and they dont take "cheese" diferent from anything, its in the game
one factor that is bringing crisis to starcraft is that its too macro now, and there are people hating on players doing the non-standard which makes no sense.....

it's not random at all. even if it were a low-class player (fnatic rain is not), it's an additional way for friends and fans to show appreciation.
if you were participating and practicing in multiple foreign and korean competitions for 2 years, i'm pretty sure you would be happy to atleast see a thread announcing your retirement and message to everybody.
