Woah, Bisu is playing a game. At least it is pvp, this should be to his advantage if he learned the meta correctly.
|

Wow... Flash vs bogus.

I hope you guys like mirror match-ups... because EG-TL vs. STX Soul has 6 of them and EG-TL vs. SKT has 5 of them.
|
Not a good draw for EG-TL against STX, their best players are against STX's best players, anything can happen. But some of their bad players are almost at sure loss.

I'd actually say quite the opposite. JYP, Thorzain and PuMa all have a chance. They are all in mirrors against players that haven't been too spectacular of late. JD is pretty much a guaranteed win. I'd also give JYP the edge against mini. So, as long as one of TaeJa, HerO, ThorZaiN, or PuMa can win, they can probably take it.
|
Ugh, so many mirrors. At least we have some good TvTs.
Fantasy vs. Flash Flash vs. Bogus Light vs. Stork
Holy shit.
|
|
Good to see EG-TL keeping confidence in PuMa and Thorzain. Obviously there's a reason they're still being picked. I'm sure they are both practice beasts and just need to overcome nerves on stage.

Flash vs Fantasy on Antiga
My body is not ready

STX vs EGTL gonna be a good match! Also hope bisu does good so he becomes a regular for SKT

Ahh damn Bisu vs Stats. Hopefully Bisu does good. Excited for Flash vs Fantasy.

fantasy flashhhh.. yeah buddy osl REVENGE
|

EGTL vs STX might be boring, since they're all mirrors. Same for most of the other matches of the week. It'll come down to the players bringing the excitement, and gladly, it looks like some of them have great players vs great players.

So uhhh.. this mirror thing could start to become a problem. Can't wait for the all-kill format next round, lol.
|
JYJ playing twice yay =D
Thinking of swapping s2 for Puma...unsure though. Even though puma isn't playing great lately, s2 seems to only be in 1/2 or less of the games.
EDIT: And mirrors are largely a response to the team's understanding of the maps and what races work well on them. Also can't wait to see AKill mix it up though.

TaeJa vs. Bogus HerO vs. Dear JaeDong vs. Hyvaa

SKT vs KT fantasy vs flash better start a banner contest already :p

Oh my god all those TvTs with great players.
I think I just died and went to heaven.

Thorzain on Arkanoid in TvT... I anxiously await to see how this pans out. I don't care what statistics say- Thorzain has this! EG-TL fighting!

this should be interesting

Oh god, these TvT... Fantasy vs. Flash Flash vs. Bogus Come on Fantasy, you're my captain \m/

only about half of the matches are mirror matches (which is theoretically the correct proportion since there are 3 mirror matchups and 3 non-mirror matchups in starcraft). It just seems like there are a lot of mirror matches since the eg-stx matchup has all mirror matchups and that is listed first.
|

Statistically, there should be 1/3 mirror matchups, assuming that each race in a matchup with picked uniformly at random (you can see this since ZvP can come up ZP or PZ, making it twice as likely as a ZvZ, which can only happen as ZZ).
On the other hand, you can't assume that the races are picked uniformly at random, since, for example, teams are going to pick Terran on Arkanoid.

FLASH VS FANTASY!! Should be exciting

This is the week guys. We're gonna see HerO ace two times if need be. The idea of HerO vs Bogus & HerO vs Rain rematch is awesome. Not just as a fan but as someone who loves good games.
Oh and then I notice he's actually just gonna play Rain anyway. Sickest week ever. Some roflwtf-good TvTs too.

Most likely will be good games: TaeJa vs. Bogus FanTaSy vs. Flash Flash vs. Bogus Zenio vs. Sacsri (Zenio vs. Zerg is usually >ep-ic!<... I highly recommend the two linked games if you have a hour.) PuMa vs. FanTaSy (I know his game against sOs was disappointing, but this is PuMa vs. Terran.) JYP vs. soO (I know it's PvZ, but it's JYPvZ. Not standard [Immortal Sentry/Infestor Brood Lord] PvZ.) EffOrt vs. Jaehoon (If you like watching a hilariously bad ZvP player.) sKyHigh vs. BaBy
Most likely will be good games if the series gets past game 4: ThorZaIN vs. Classic PuMa vs. Last HerO vs. Rain
(Yes, I'm EG-TL biased in terms of good games, but I haven't seen enough of the other players to know if they're good.)

Well, which maps would you place them with? WW and Abyssal aren't that great. Adding even more new maps would really tax the players in learning new maps. Remember that this current month is actually really good for players to learn new maps due to not many other tournaments going on. Start January, GSL will be starting and you will get foreign tournaments as well. Not sure if you want to throw in 3-4 new maps in Round 2. Maybe for Round 3, we can see some new maps.

It feels like there's a bit of an issue with the maps, too many maps favor a certain race so hopefully they'll soon change the maps up a bit. I think also Ohana we see Protoss a lot (possibly Cloud Kingdom as well). Then Antiga mostly Terrans as well. I think people said somewhere Kespa doesn't mind changing the maps quickly, hopefully that's true.

Daybreak is the boringest map ever made that promotes cookie cutter builds leading into terrible deathball games in almost every matchup and I'd rather watch games on Steppes of War, let alone Tal Darim.
I'm down with replacing Ohana with Abyssal though.

Obsession with balance has also gotten us to a point of watching the most boring era of Starcraft since beta, and people are still unhappy with overall balance anyway, so not much was really accomplished anyway. I still have better memories of Steppes of War games than I have of Daybreak.

Can't wait for the all-kill format next round, lol. Phasing out maps like Antiga, Ohana and Tal'Darim Altar could also fix it in future non all-kill rounds. I know Arkanoid and Caldeum are TvT and PvP prone respective, but those are newer maps and it'll be nice to see them stick around for longer. Plus TvTs and TvZs on Arkanoid are really really fun. WW, Daybreak (even though it's kinda outdated) and Abyssal are all probably better than Ohana and Tal'Darim IMO. Daybreak > Tal'Darim, no question about it. Daybreak is the boringest map ever made that promotes cookie cutter builds leading into terrible deathball games in almost every matchup and I'd rather watch games on Steppes of War, let alone Tal Darim. I'm down with replacing Ohana with Abyssal though. Yes, but it's also a fair map which Tal'Darim is not. Let alone Steppes of War, lol. I like playing TDA on ladder, I still think it's a cool map. But goddamn, it's not balanced. Obsession with balance has also gotten us to a point of watching the most boring era of Starcraft since beta, and people are still unhappy with overall balance anyway, so not much was really accomplished anyway. I still have better memories of Steppes of War games than I have of Daybreak.
Crossfire was one hell of a map. LR threads always complained about it then went wild every second game. If the fourth expansion was "better" then imo it would still be used. I wish people would take some of the older maps and try work them again.
Anyway, I sort of agree with the sentiment. We need variety, but at the same time people's careers are on the line here. It's not nice for a tournament to rig maps to be better for one race.
Team leagues allow better variations in maps over individual leagues. Unless they had a large map pool and vetoes(plural). As it is people have noted map pools in some tournaments being ridiculous,

Well Taeja's TvP is nearly as good as last summer but his TvT is still super solid. Still we'll have to see what happens

Round 2 is All-Kill iirc so Round 3 is likely to be the time new maps are added in, if they are at all. Which should be after early rounds of GSL letting people still in practice maps in GSL while people out do the maps not in GSL.
Enjoying the Proleague so far even if not catching much of it live and having to watch it on youtube later

I think DKR meant to say ThorZain could be the first foreigner to win a SC2 Pro League Match. We really need to stop combining the two games together when we talk about their results. -_-

Also, why does every single week, coaches keep sending out Zergs on Ohana?? They know that they'll almost always meet a protoss there...and then gets choo chooed.

This is how January trolls SC2.

Strange that this thread has not been community-featured yet as all the lineup threads before. Hope people see this in time for their FPL trades, as the games begin in 9 hours. xD

Fantasy vs Flash is gonna be good. I guess it's good for my fantasy team regardless of results, since I have them both on my team. Going to be difficult to decide who to cheer for though...

I say Pantajy will own Flash again - that's nice. And Bisu will win also.
