Tal'darim Altar has been changed to Entombed Valley. (I swear it was still TDA when I checked it earlier today ><)
Edit 2: The map lists on the KeSPA site are now also being updated to reflect their 'Neo'-ness (although subsequent weeks presently look like a strange mix of new and old). I'll re-TLPDize them when the new entries are available.

A lot less meat to these lists when it's allkill
First 2 days of matches they're all looking to get as many kills as possible through their first pick it looks like

Poor revival, having Flash sent out as the starter is just cruel.

How's Speed been doing compared to Reality?

Heh, KT wants to save their Aces (Stats, Action, CH, etc) for later. Flash is going to get benched if he loses to Revival.

What's with so many strong ace-level starting players? Traditionally in the GSTL/IPTL/etc you want to save your sick nerd baller players for the latter half.

-.^ Sometimes you want to send a strong message to the other teams.

What is winners league? Can't be only winners, because even Samsung is playing.

It's like GSTL but maps are predetermined.

It's another name for the all-kill format. Also known as 'crews' and 'winner stays on' and 'pokemon format' in other circles.

With Stephano, Taeja, Hero, and Jaedong, EG-TL is going to be hard for the KeSPA teams to overcome. I would give SKT the best shot at winning this though, since they have Rain who seems to overcome everyone when it really matters.

Heaps of great starting players, will be fun to see who gets the first all kill.

Fantasy had basically the same round 1 record so I would not underestimate him as well. I would argue he is probably a top 3 or at least 5 KeSPA player.

Fantasy is okay, but not great. It will be an interesting set. I wouldn't put him as one of my top five KeSPA roster players though. I'd put a number of guys before him.

That map had no place in proleague or really any tournament. Hopefully the tweaks lead to less mirrors too

EDIT: OP, I don't blame you. Sometimes they make mistakes and update the page with old and/or incorrect information. Not your fault :D

That's hilarious. Imagine this conversation:
"So, Revival, thanks for joining the team. We're sending you to Proleague, in Korea."
"Awesome! I can't wait."
"By the way, your first opponent in Round 2 is Flash."
"I'm sorry, what now???"

Predetermined maps is an interesting idea.

Have they also released the eligible rosters for each team? That's needed for the Fantasy League to start up, I should think.

Haha, no worries, just checking I'm not going crazy. In fact, I just checked the week 2 maps on the Kespa site and they still have Tal'darim. Do you know if it is appropriate to assume that all instances of TDA will be replaced by Entombed (like this week), or will the map order be re-shuffled?
|
I'm interested to see the changes on the Neo versions of the KeSPA maps. They're always fascinating to analyse.
And I can't believe that it's Winner's League already. Time really flies nowadays.

Its crazy how overrated EGTL is, the way people talk about them you'd think they were 7-0 in R1 and not 3-4.

3-4 and being 4th is pretty good for a new team.

Can someone explain the change of format to me? This is the first pro-league I watch and in the first round they didn't have all-kill format but now it seems like they do? Why change?
Also, how many rounds are there?

Don't have much hope for JYP vs Fantasy. JYPvT is, shall we say, a "special" matchup...

Also, how many rounds are there? There are 6 rounds, then playoffs. Since the season is almost a year long, they decided to make it more interesting by having Round 2 and Round 5 all-kill format. And it's not the first time there has been all-kill format in Proleague.

Seems...harder.

Well, Revival just proved he's pretty good at All-Kill teamleague. Taking out FXO's three best players when EG was down to the last man? I'm hoping for Flash to win, but wouldn't at all put it past Revival to perform well!

Is there any particular reason that every single match has 3 of the 4 KeSPA maps back-to-back-to-back, and every match except #2 has the four ladder maps? That can't be random, how are they making these map picks?

Well with the people who overrate them there are just as many haters if not more. So it evens out.
They are good, not anywhere near as bad as people make them out to be but obviously not so good they won't ever lose.
I do feel that in AK format it does favor EGTL quiet a bit, taeja/hero/jaedong/revival are all very strong players. I know I am forgetting a couple people but that's just off the very very top of my head.
I can see EGTL doing a lot better then 3-4 in round 2, that's for sure.

Combined, Hero and Taeja are 0-9 against Rain. Most teams have multiple like Bogus, Baby, Soo, hero(join), soulkey that no one would bat an eyelash for if they all killed EG-TL.
Couple that with the fact that Huk and Thorzain are easily the two worst players in SPL, and Puma and Zenio haven't looked very good, and I'd be surprised if they even make it to 3-4

well I love how stx put last first and I hate that they didn't invite a real foreigner team where we actually get to see some foreigners... well at least stephano is there now so maybe it will get better but I'm afraid that he will just take thorzains spot when stephano leaves again I would love it if team 8 would actually field more non koreans than the non korean invite that would just make me happy haha

So unlike GSTL, all sets are important as it accounts your overall points and map order is predetermined. Gonna be very rare for us to see foreigners this round since koreans are so strong. (Unless Stephano is in Korea)

Excited about this. Hoping for nice all-kills from both Flash and Best to start us off.
Probably only slightly likely, but still, this is going to be nice.

Speed should be able to run over Reality. Reality has been terribad in TvT televised matches.

EG-TL should do quite well in R2, I look forward to seeing more awesome series in proleague.

I find myself saying the same thing about you saying that taeja is the only player on EGTL who can beat flash. Far from likely, I bet hero/taeja/revival can beat flash, jaedong I haven't seen enough of his zvt lately to know.

They had some growing pains, and they REALLY shouldn't have used beloved HuK or (IMO) Thorzain, though even he pulled out a win eventually.
...But you're crazy if you don't think a team with Taeja, Hero, JD and Stephano isn't a true force to be reckoned with in winner's league format.
