Another thing that routinely gets me stumped in this debate is: if he was that concerned solely about money, why not go back to SC2? he would routinely get 10k viewers playing SC2, not that I don’t support the decision to go to League of Legends, (any pro would agree the superior game, lol kidding they both have their own merits and still like watching SC2) but if money was the only issue for him I can’t see the 2.5k viewers with League comparing to his SC2 following,
If we assume half of people use add-blocking still, 5k viewers means every time he runs a commercial he would be getting 5x the CPM.
That being said the desicion to go to League was his choice, and I’m sure he weighed the benefits of it wrt dollar amounts, keeping in the forefront the best interests of his kid and the kids’ mother. If not then there are other issues that play into this situation which none of us can comment on.
However, none of this excuses Own3d from their contractual obligations to pay their players and I’m sad for the industry that things like this happen at such frequency. There were a lot of good points brought up in the ChanmanV interview, not the least of which is the vulnerability of this market as a whole. The fact there are 100 kids who would love to get paid 150 dollars a month to stream games, for every 1 business person trying to grow eSports and make it a legitimate industry makes it so that companies like this are able to continuously make bad financial decisions and still be rewarded for them. Until there is some standard in contract terms and the people signing them educate themselves this problem will not go away completely.

Na'Vi left Own3d as well.

He explained why switching to LoL was better a LOT of times on his stream and there is even a vid about it. By switching over to LoL now, he loses viewers in the short term, where sc2 would have given him his big audience in the short term, but in the LONG RUN, LoL simply brings in more viewers ( 100K+ on IEM stream or smth ). There is simply a much bigger audience for LoL than sc2 because of how the game IS compared to sc2 ( free, easier, ... ) This is something very important for Destiny, as he relies only on his stream and not on a team salary / tournament results or somthing else. So he's losing viewers now, but in the long run, he opens himself up to a much bigger audience, and in the end he'll have more viewers. And to be totally honest "the short term" is kinda over now. This man had 5k viewers yesterday ( went up and down a lot because he raged yesterday for the first time in WEEKS but it stabilised at 5k ) and that's more than he had in sc2 ALREADY, and he's not even featured on popular sites like LoLking or Leagueoflegends.com.
But back to OWN3D now, as destiny himself should not be the topic here.

Sorry for being slightly in the past, (10k) and thank you for updating me on the stream numbers, i have seen him top out at 3k for the last few months and my point was not about the long term, it was about the now, due to his situation. I have heard him talk about the potential for viewership based on ELO ranking, and while im sure he is good enough to get to the upper teirs of the communitiy and be featured eventually, this was not my intial point.

Your wrong. He was actually doing worst when he was stream SC2. He hasnt top 5k in MONTHS! This is not because he switch to LoL, it because the viewers of all SC2 stream drop dramatically over the past 6 months. Dont believe me? Just check all the sc2 stream numbers and this should be obvious. After switching to LoL, he been getting slightly more viewers but now he just average around 1.5-2.5k. Before it was 1-2k when he was streaming sc2.

On a slightly fairer note, keep in mind that there was hardly a single month when the WoL scene was booming where Destiny --DIDN'T-- do something incredibly stupid that would have lost him some fans. (let alone sponsors/teams etc). It's just one blunder to the next, and so on. He certainly lost me after the whole Bluetea vs Destiny "Who can show more naked pics of the other guy" quarrel. A lot of opportunity lost every time.
He's right though, at this point LoL is the best thing he's got going for him. Destiny can be big in LoL the same way he would've been big in SC2: not being a dumbass.

Since when do people care what destiny think or says? That damn attention-starved kid has exhausted every last bit of his credibility, and then some.

At least read the thread, but that's probably asking too much. Some attention starved kids just like to spew out uninformed nonsense I guess.

Quite ironic of you to say, and I would love to see how he "exhausted" his credibility that you speak of, if you're looking for proof all of it is in the article..that is if you actually read the article but, maybe it's safe to say you didn't because of your strong bias here.

Looks like this attention-starved kid found a new way to get attention. A tip for your future endeavors in getting people mad so they give you attention : Read the topic and the replies, and then preach some really constructive hate. Then people will really be mad at you, because now you can just be dismissed as a childish hater, and that's not what you want right ?

When Husky comes out and basically tells it like it is when it comes to esports you know it is trouble.
Everyone should watch the documentary "Frag", you will likely have a very different view on pro gaming. It is a shame because there are alot of hard working people who are taken advantage off by major sponsors who really dont give a rats ass for the most part, few do, majority do not.

Your kind was referring to the "uninformed". Seemed like that was fairly obvious.
My reference to the fact that I control billions of ad dollars was meant as a reassurance to those streaming that there are people out there, like myself, who have the ability to make a difference in this situation who are supporting them. What do you have against people who are successful or influential? What I said was simply a fact and a show of support to the streamers.
Would you rather I not support the streamers when their contracts are not honored?

Please change your name...The book series and the movie are in fact quite good and having worked hundreds of hours on the film I don't appreciate trolls using it.

Actually, having gone through a hundred hours mostly in pub games on LOL, I will insist on the fact that being a dumbass will actually get him viewers. LoL is the first time where the communauty is the UNIQUE reason I will never launch that game again.
