Green Update! The Clan is nearly full, but the group Desert Oasis Practice is wide open. We'll be using that as well so don't worry if you didn't get into the clan! I'll online more tomorrow for more games, etc!
The Plan
[DOa] Clan is going to be about improving at SC2, but more importantly it's going to be about enjoying the game and playing how you want to play. Any level is welcome! The only requirements are a willingness to be possibly streamed once in a while and an agreement to be decent to your fellow clan members.
Basically the idea is to create a community of players to casually practice and play custom games with on a regular basis. Since anyone who pre-orders the game can get in the beta now it will be easy to join in!
How do I join?
Since it seems like you can only invite people to clans that you're friends with I'll basically just be adding and inviting the first 50 (which I think is the current limit) or so people that put their ID and Bnet code into this thread. If there's a more efficient way to get people into a clan, please let me know! t.t Post your Bnet ID/number thing in the thread and you'll be added. (Example: name.123)
Starting the week of February 3rd on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10am Korean time (7pm CST Monday and Wednesday evening) I'll be streaming and commentating games between clan members. I'll be choosing randomly from people who are online and my own name will be in the mix too so I might have to commentate and play once in a while! We'll also be playing some multiplayer custom games and generally socializing in a Starcraft environment.
We'll be using a mix of Blizzard ladder maps and new maps from the SC2 map-making community to provide them some much-deserved exposure as well!
Note: I'll be traveling in the US for most of March so it'll be unlikely that any stream will happen during that time. I'll keep people informed and might find a substitute streamer to fill in for those weeks.
The Future
Ideally things will go well and there will be some opportunities to host and engage in casual clan wars in the coming months. It would be great to see other personalities in the scene start some of their own clans as well. This isn't really intended to ever become a pro team or anything, but instead a place to practice and have fun with what's going to be a great expansion!
Feel free to ask questions and leave comments here. I'll be collecting names and IDs today and start adding people to the clan tomorrow!
I'm an English teacher living in Incheon, SK - I really want to be a part of this, but the times for the stream are during my work hours! Are there other ways for me to get involved?
only bad is the time of the streaming its in europe from 2am and in workdays its not possible to be on that late ^^ on weekend i can maximum be online 6 hours after you stream start and on weekdays like 16 hours after you start xD so i think europeans cant get rly involved ?
Hopefully that works? I have two accounts in beta under the same email for some reason, the other one is the owner of the [MIT] clan though, so maybe it won't work. I'll join with my smurf you can't invite my main account.
Since the people who're running the show are probably offline. I figured i'd create a chat channel where people who are eager to play now could meet up.
Since DOA is reading this , I have a question , you said in your WCG cast that you will try to play Warcraft 3 , are you a man of your word or was it just something you said for the sake of cast ? I assume number 2
I have been high master as zerg and terran, but now my level is probably more close of an "average master" because I play more casually since 9+ months (I don't have a lot of free time). I never really had the opportunity to play with a team in WoL (and my friends don't play Starcraft), so it might be fun.

Anyway nice clan ! good luck with it !
I did actually play some for a while, but got sidetracked eventually with other obligations. I tried anyway. Wish I could go back in time and be involved in the scene when it was really happening!

For sure! I'm hoping people will be playing games with each other 24/7 in this clan. I'll be on more than just during streaming times and I'm sure people will be playing plenty when I'm not online as well!
Hope i can get in SoulSpirit#336 Its really boring to grind out the ladder so may i can get a new motivation, and found some people for specific training.
Sorry my name is really obnoxiuos but i didn't choose it and don't think you can get a name change for the HOTS BETA it's. IIIIIIIIIII.732 (there are 11 capitlal i's or i think they're L's sorry i didn't name it )
Added this to the main post, but I'm bumping it for visibility:
Inviting to clans is more difficult than I thought. People need to be on your friends list and online to accept the invite, which is going to make this tough! For now, I've created a public group called "Desert Oasis Practice" that everyone should be able to find and join. I'd still like to get everyone that signed up her into the actual clan, but we'll have to do that over time I guess.
What I'd like to see is Blizz allow clan invites to be sent while people are offline, but have them appear in the current tab with pending friend requests. It would be a good non-obtrusive way to do it imo.
I'll post this here just for information -- but if you are looking for maps that are probably works in progress that you cannot find at sources like sc2melee.net -- check out the HotS public group "Melee Mapmakers". Its not always populated cause we're a smaller community and what not (and have those things called jobs... yeah) -- BUT! You might get to see some up and coming maps.
Edit: I will also begin trying to frequent the public channel in order to make any map recommendations (and practice of course ) you might want. Time works well for me (YAY!)
Update! 43 (I think) members so far. I'll add more later to the clan and then start adding to the Desert Oasis Practice group once the Clan fills. People are playing games and talking about SC2 so I think things are going well!
Well, if 50 is the limit and you have already 43 members, I guess I missed the boat even though I first posted on the first page! lol That will show me to have a life and a job! Next time somebody does something like this, I call-in sick! (and will have to fire myself for that, but that's another story )
Right now Doa isn't online but I'll try again later before going to bed, although there is Proleague going on, so the chances are slim.
I'm down, decided to get back into SC2...we'll see how HOTS fairs...after everything I've seen I'm seriously debating picking it up but beta shall be tried...
This group is pretty good.. Games are going on often with people watching / Giving advice. Also there is a wide range of leagues (Including GM) so everyone has someone to practice with.
Since it looks like some of you still have hopes to join, I just want to say that the clan is full. Sorry guys! But you can always come to the Desert Oasis Practice group and practice with the clan and even participate in the streamed practice session which was a blast yesterday (look at Doa's first post for the dates and time)
I am in the clan but am not in any way in a leadership position with Doa and am NOT a spokesperson lol I just thought I'd give you guys an update since it looks like some of you still wanted to join and didn't know it was full.
