Known as the 'Kart Emperor', multiple-time Kart Rider champion Moon Ho-jun has joined StarTale as both a SC2 and KR player.
Debuting in 2007, Moon Ho-jun has become Kart Rider's answer to BoxeR, dominating the professional scene in Korea since the age of 10. In a statement released by StarTale and Moon Ho-jun, he will play both SC2 and KR in parallel at the professional level.
Moon Ho-jun will move into the StarTale practice house in Incheon and hopes he will able to show results in both games.
EDIT: He plays Protoss. and his ID is probably lllllllllll (not joking). We'll have to wait for StarTale to release their rosters to find out what magical new ID he will choose.

What race is he going to play?
He will play protoss, playing protoss is like driving with one hand.

Oh really? I wonder if there is a reason that only a very few protoss players are able to succeed in code S. Probably because protoss actually has the highest skill cap, so only the very best are able to reach that level.
In all seriousness now, I wouldn't be surprised if he does succeed. I feel like being good at this game comes down to being able to practice and knowing how to learn from the practice, which clearly he can already do if he is a KR legend.
It will be cool to see what he can achive. Ive never followed Kart Rider, but watched some vids way back and was amazed by the speed. If he's been dominating such a fast paced game since he was ten, he obviously has serious talent to tap into. This will be very exciting, but juggling two completely different games is really hard tho. KR might be akin to fast paced FPS like q3/qlive where the best players only have to do a couple of hours of practice every day to stay at the top.
Honestly, the amount of memorization and quick reflexes it takes to play that game should transfer over somewhat; at least the repetition of doing those maps over and over to perfect it would. Good luck to him catching up in game sense -- hopefully Life helps him out.
the fact that he was top level in a game with a real competitive scene at the age of TEN is plenty of reason to be optimistic about his talent and dedication
Haha I remember playing Kart rider when there was english version out there. It was really fun game and much harder than one would think. Too bad it got closed soon after T_T

This thread is just too much. I'm not saying he's going to be bad (and in fact, given his age, I bet he's going to pwn some serious SC2 n00bs), but it's just amazing how serious esports is outside for the US. I try to take it seriously, but most people don't. But they have a fucking Kart Rider tournament. I've thought about setting up Mario Kart tournaments before, but I'm glad Korea did it first. That shit is awesome.
lol you can tell whos old school and whos new.....they use to advertise kart rider tournies on OGN/MBC during proleague/osl/msl. It also was one of the top 10 games played in pcbang for long time as well. Also almost every esports documentary I've ever seen talking about korean esports has at the very least mentioned it or at the very most gave it a 1-3 minute overview.
People doubting him because they think Kart Rider is the same as Mario Kart. Kart Rider is probably the highest skill cap racing game out there. I'd even say it's the Broodwar of the racing genre. Yes, that difficult.
He's probably still the best Kart Rider player but he doesn't compete as much because the leagues became more team focused and he prefers individual. Probably why he chose SC2.
Oh man, no doubt he is a kart rider bonjwa, but I highly doubt he'll be able to juggle both at the highest level. I'm interested in seeing how he does for sure though.

how old is he now?
15. Apparently he is Life's school mate
Lol. must be a school full of genius kids
Must be a class with a very frustrated teacher and a low amount of turned in homework.
Being chased by fan-girls from age ten seems like a legit way to grow up. Seemed to require quite some apm there and I love the way he almost touches his face to his screen. :D
All these montage videos of Kart Rider got me laughing just because of how the game looks (not that I'm trying to bash on the people playing it professionally, I'm sure it takes a whole lot of skill).
When I originally read this I thought he was a go-kart champion which I would find cool/interesting. When I saw that it was a game still interesting hope it goes well for him.
Kart Emperor and Life must now go on a journey, searching high and low, to find the best young Korean Tetris player on the planet and have him pick up the mantle as Terran in SC2.
Dang, he's pretty young. Maybe he'll be near the top in a few years (I said that about Creator and Life, and it only took them about a year or two, so I wouldn't doubt that he could get good right away). Anyways, pretty impressive that there's an Emperor for Kart Rider, though BoxeR will always be the true emperor.

as far as i know moon ho jun is not called the emperor of kartrider among korean followers of the game. its just something that gtr made up to make this topic more interesting XD
nice addition. im pretty sure he has the skillz to make it to the top. but as he seems to be focusing on kr and sc2 at the same time, he probably joined them for advertising only (pretty similiar to the likes of lzgamer etc. at EG)

Wait, what?
LZ was on that "team" much before it even became EG iirc ' - '

wow that crazy impressive. It might not be SCII but the timing of those turns so you can tell he's put in the hours if he's dominating the Korean scene. I dunno how well his skills will translate to SCII but he already has the most important one: hard work so I don't doubt he'll be working really hard in SCII despite only committing half his time there! Nice pickup imo

Squirtle vs. Mvp had 1 good game lol. It was mostly terribad.
Troll is stronk with this one..
no, really, haha. good storyline, but mostly mediocre games, just like mma-drg
yea DRG/MMA was basically 6 mediocre at best (that might be generous) games and then arguably the best game ever. It was just awesome because it was the first one to go 7 games that wasn't basically all bunker rushes lol but it was terrible for me as a DRG fan . I agree, squirtle/mvp was a lot of mediocre games. and then a vortex and then squirtle choking in game 7 imo. I think They were both epic and the top 2 finals ever, but I put DRG/MMA a bit ahead.
I'm confused as to why were are talking about this though haha
I have no doubt that Kart Emperor will deliver the best GSL finals though.

IMO leenock vs Jjakji was #1 then mma vs drg. The squirtle vs MVP game really wasn't that amazing, an nr50 into archon toilet is pretty boring.
On topic, it will be interesting to see how this guy performs in a while. SC2 seems like a completely different game.
People find the battlecruisers/archons game to be best in mvp vs squirtle, but personally I find the last game to be far more exciting than anything.
The constant back and fourth between killing probes, kiting marines, trapping stalkers, and manage to come back from an otherwise lost game was far more exciting than afk and 1 massive battles.
Game 2-3 in those games are quite back and fourth as well, but not to this nail-biting level at game 7
He resembles a younger MC with MKP's glasses. Nice to see some new talent being infused into the scene. I bet this guy is the prophesied Elephant all along.

Pretty sure they will have a hard time finding someone better then this tough.
I'm definitely extremely curious to see how this kart rider bonjwa does, seroiusly. In some of those kart rider videos he's soooo young compared to all of the other guys...

Kart Rider is at the bottom, SC2 isn't on that list, BW is 8th
whaaat, kartrider at the bottom? some years ago it was like one of the top3 games ;_;
I don't think it's been significantly updated in a while (there was a brief time a couple months ago when foreigners could play the KR version, it's still not all that different from what they released in NA 5 years ago) and of course there are the inevitable 20 different clones from other companies.
