that is why Idra, Grubby, Stephano, iNcontroL, DeMusliM and others have much more stream viewers than Jaedong. Its not that those guys are more interesting than Jaedong. Its that the fans can know them much more than Jaedong because they share so much with them.
A very big change in KR SC2 scene will be announced(0403)…

To get more on to the topic, I think its important not to jump to conclusions. It would be ridiculous if Blizzard wanted to lock off Korea from the rest of the world so to even insinuate that there will be a lack of foreigner vs. Korean play in the future is ridiculous. I also think its presumptuous to assume that this development has anything to do with the future of the NA and EU scenes. There's nothing to support that and jumping to the conclusion that Blizzard-run feeder tournaments are coming seems ridiculous until we know more. As for the actual Korea-centric anouncement, I think consolidation is important. Or at the very least more marketing and emphasis put on cohesion between the two leagues so that they don't feel totally isolated. How that can be facilitated or if it will be, I don't know, I'm just going to wait patiently and see what this turns out to be. A few major tournaments scattered throughout the year with alternating GSTL/proleague would be my preference and the same alternating scenario with OSL and Code S. Having a couple very hyped tournaments of each without them going on at the same time so each can get the attention they deserve. Again, I'm not sure how that's done, but since the audience for both leagues seems to be the same group of people, no one wins by competing for their attention. The only issue is, neither league can just go dark to let the other one run if they want to survive. I guess that might be where Blizzard comes in though. I just hope that all of this hype doesn't end with Blizzard announcing some throwaway tournament like a Blizzard Cup. The messaging seems to indicate otherwise, but I guess we'll see.

But every player from any region will probably be able to play anywhere. its just that Koreans won't gain wcs points during mlg or dh, and vice versa. I hope this is the case. This sounds most reasonable.

Korean putting on murloc suit, jumping in the sea, throwing hadouken, exercising nunchuk, saying "fuck you" on mainstage, dancing (whole lotta dances), even having a goddamn dedicated show + Show Spoiler + Oh and you know what, Koreans also entertain us IN-GAME with high skills. What can foreigners do? quitting prematurely? probe rush? massing roaches for 2 years straight?

Also Snute won multiple things already, take another player that is not as famous if you want me to search for a Korean that is not that famous its not even the point though. its that i can watch a tournament/stream/interview with a foreigner and immediately know what he is saying and immediately have interaction with him. for 99.9999999% of Koreans this simply doesn't happen. We need a translator. And even then its not the same thing. Listen to the crowd when MC speaks english in an onstage interview. They go fucking nuts. Its just human nature. If you are in a room and there are 2 groups of people, one speaking your native language and one speaking a language you don't know, which group are you going to approach? The one speaking your native language. Its the same thing here. also no foreigner has the history that Jaedong has. The man is a legend, of course there will be more information about him than any foreigner. Jaedong is one of the few who has done so much he has broken the barrier. And what info can I get on Snute? Anything, i'll just ask him on twitter.

anyone should be able to attend to weekend events(MLG, DH , IEM ); in the case of leagues some kind of residence in the country would be optimal , the thing is that no western country has something like the GSL to compare... If America got his GSL and Europe too , I could see a system of points to the winner being fair and all but were stuck with weekend lans here. You dont even need to make a restrictive system that says no koreans , only a live qualifier that is held in the same place as the tournament and that requires live attendance for several days , just like GSL. Koreans wont go to that as you have to commit with that league for an extended period , just like most foreigners arent eager to go to GSL and spend one or two months there.

It would allow people who want to watch foreigners to watch NASL or whatever it would be called, people who want to watch Koreans watch GSL/OSL, Let Euros watch Euros but would not disallow Koreans to go to once a season tournaments like MLG or Dreamhack. I literally have ZERO reason to go to or watch MLG if it's foreigner only, because I don't want to feel like I'm watching amateur play compared to what I watch everyday in the Korean leagues. What good does someone having a "personality" do for my viewing experience at the venue when I can't see/watch them interact like I can when I watch them streaming? Korean multi-tasking is far superior, and you won't see any foreigners dropping like MMA/Innovation/Flash or running lings around like Life for a long time to come, if ever. The skill set they possess makes it much more likely to see quick fast paced chaotic action, and foreigners are more likely to turtle it up and provide slower games.

Blizzard still being the heavy hitter and unwilling to let go of it is a bad thing and nothing will make them do that. So there is nothing they could do which would really make the game popular IMO because of the limitations they feel necessary [and the general game design]. I think its general consensus that people like Hots more than WoL because it's more action packed and strays away from death ball against death ball confrontations. It will only take a few months until people will figure out the "HotS deathball units" and then we are back to square 1. They are only positive now because HotS is new and unknown, but the units are more erratic than the WoL ones and will cause more problems than the older ones.
