My question is: what are the plans for the EG house and EG's players? This is a bit surprising considering the recent WCS announcement and the idea that there would be more and not fewer NA team houses.

If they wanted to be close to the NASL studio or the the LAN events such as MLG Anaheim they would be better off moving their team house to the LA area. San Francisco to LA is still a 5 to 6 hour commute. Don't get me wrong, having a centralized location for eSports is great but I think they need to move closer to the LA area to get the most out of their team house. That way they could cut down on hotel costs and travel costs to events that happen in California. i think the 5-6 hour commute and travel cost takes backseat to the cost of realestate and living.

Because if you are insinuating that living in SF is cheaper than AZ you are definitely wrong on that one. If anything moving to SF will increase costs. Actually moving to California in general will increase the costs for both realestate and living. Edit: Here are comparisons for the costs. All of these comparisons are to their current location in AZ. Moving near NASL, an online league, or near the once a year MLG Anaheim doesn't make much sense.

For people wondering Emeryville is in the East Bay, between Berkeley & Oakland, across the Bay Bridge. (10 minutes away from me.) It's a really nice place to have an apartment. Almost everything you could want is within 5 minutes (including traffic...!). Nice movie theater, shopping center, lots of places to eat, Bart station to go to the city, etc. etc.

With SirScoots having wrapped up his work with EG and Incontrol moving out (initially I thought it was because he had just gottten married), Idra's now in another apartment. Demuslim and Machine are still at the house from the look of the streams and it appeared that Stephano had transitioned there after leaving Korea. I'm interested to see what it is that made them move their team house to such an expensive area.

I'm interested to see what it is that made them move their team house to such an expensive area. Maybe they want to live alone?! It's pretty hard to live with other people together nonstop for several weeks (exception:girl-/boyfrind). I had left this environment after ~3weeks because I sometimes just need the calm for me personally.

Catz has said on State of the Game that he wants to open a team house for Root in that general region, so hopefully we'll see that happen in the future.

Cost of living in California is more, OK. EG sees value in being in California rather than AZ... so according to their cost-benefit analysis, its worth it to live in the bay area. Why? Bay area is the home of the computer industry. Close contact with tons of potential sponsors. If you think there is no value in moving to California, then maybe you should start your own eSports organization and show them how to run a business properly.

Of course it is more expensive, but I guess time will tell if the move was good or not. As of now I'm inclined to say it is. I am sure they factored that in, since they are a professional business and all. EG has made it this far, but I know that a lot of members of TL are worried that the high cost of milk and cat food for Hobbs will put them under. Rest assured, they did research and they found the place to be within their budget.

The only place that used to have tournaments was the hacker dojo which is a small event. Maybe more events want to host in the area, but that won't be cheap either. For an industry that is trying to grow and find a home, choosing the bay area or really anywhere in Cali, seems like a very expensive investment. I hope it works out and I know the guys will love the area for sure, hope it last.

However, their salary won't go very far compared to AZ. The Cost of living is much higher then AZ and most places in the States. I believe SF is rated the most expensive place to live in the nation. Plus flying out of SF to anywhere other then LA and Vegas is pretty expensive. Also, I do not know of any events that are held in the SF area besides CSL. Anaheim is where MLG and blizzcon is held but that is 8 hours away. The only place that used to have tournaments was the hacker dojo which is a small event. Found it on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/starcraft/comments/1cenk4/eg_idra_no_longer_streaming_from_the_eg_lair/c9fuflw I took notes during the Q and A, here is the interesting stuff: IdrA is still in EG. People in his stream chat were freaking out and suggesting he had left or been kicked out. IdrA is indeed living in his own apartment in the East Bay/Oakland area with his girlfriend. The EG Lair in Phoenix will be shut down in a few months, with the remaining members living there (just DeMusliM and Machine to my knowledge) relocating to the bay area. EG will be doing "new and exciting" stuff in the bay area, he described the move as "a very good thing" for the team multiple times. When asked about an official team house, he said that it was not 100% assured, but "almost definitely" will happen. When asked if he'll be practicing at the potential house or at his apartment, he said he'll be practicing/streaming mostly from his apartment, but will be at the potential house for some practice and "other stuff". When asked, he said that he was "very happy" to be in the Bay area, and that living in Phoenix can be difficult. Hope this helps cut down on the number of questions spammed in his stream chat. I didn't copy what he said word for word, if you want a transcript I suppose you'll have to check the vod of his stream today.

Is this a semi-permanent thing? Or are some players just passing through for events?
