Today marks the end of a nearly eight week long process which has filtered down 67 Masters and Grand Masters applicants from the North American region into a 9 man final roster. Like many qualification processes, the road to the Clarity Academy final 9 was long and treacherous; with many pitfalls within trials to test the consistency and strengths of these players. Congratulations to our final roster, we are extremely proud to welcome you into the Clarity Family!
Although there were a handful of players who fell just short of making the final cut, their work is certainly not for nothing. It is indeed my wish and intention to take them under the Clarity wing as soon as more slots open up on the roster. These players will continue to strive for a spot on the roster in weeks and months to come through our Community team. Finalized details on said team will be released to the public sometime next week. Now that our website is launched, we will be sure to have details posted early next week.

Keep in mind: The point of this thread is to congratulate the CG academy for their final roster. If you /really/ think there is an issue with a specific player you should honestly just talk to the management of CG instead of being like 'WELL YOU GOT THIS GUY, SO SCREW YOUR WHOLE TEAM!' TL posters used to be beyond this sort of stuff but the influx of these types of posts is depressing. Moreover, to complain one day about people killing e-sports and then posting like this is incredibly hypocritical. Funny people look past the cool coverage and importance CG is putting on their academy roster, even helping host a tournament, and instead choose to post on such things they have no internal knowledge of.Think before you post
I really wish I could moderate certain forums sometimes ;~; P.S: If you don't think they'll solve the problem if anything else like this happens in the future you'd have to be incredibly silly.
Very well Said. I will go ahead and follow this up with some of my own thoughts.
1A. To those of you who have come into this thread only to bash one -ONE- of the nine players that we have announced on this roster and/or to only follow it up with "well i will never support a team who has someone like this on their roster:"
(I assume most of these people are trolls, but I see some of you have high post counts on TL)
1B.To the rest of you who appear to be sincere:
If you really feel that way then you probably were not actually a fan of Clarity Gaming to begin with. Or any organization for that matter if you're willing to so quickly pass judgement on one small aspect of an entire organization. You're entitled to your opinion, we are certainly not going to argue with that. I hope to change your mind after reading this post, and over the next couple of months. Good luck to whoever you do support. Hopefully we can be among them again, eventually.
2. To those of you betting against us, calling us a 'small start up team,' etc:
Thanks, we welcome the challenge. We -are- a relatively small team compared to the likes of EG and TL (who isn't "small" in NA outside of EG, coL, ROOT, and Quantic?). But we're not going anywhere, and you're only going to hear more from us in coming weeks. So get used to seeing us around. Hopefully you can give us a second chance down the line. If not, that's too bad. You are in fact entitled to your own opinion. As I said above, we're not going to hold that against you.
3. For those of you who aren't the obvious mewbert haters/trolls and are just now learning about Clarity Gaming's existence:
Hopefully you can overlook the past of -one- of the almost 40 people this organization supports. We have seen nothing but class from Mewbert since he came into the recruitment process eight weeks ago. We believe that this warrants him a second chance. Hopefully you can accept that and give us and mewbert time to prove ourselves. If not, well that's just too bad. But I'll say it again - we're not going anywhere anytime soon.
4. To those of you continuously posting someone else's twitter and saying it is Mewberts:
Please stop. If you can not prove it is him, stop acting as if it is fact. From everything we have seen, it is -NOT- his twitter. There is absolutely no proof that it is. It is irrelevant. Yes, the video of him talking to Incontrol is him. We were aware of it some weeks ago, and it is nowhere near as bad as some of things that other professional gamers have done in the past and recovered from. So, take that for what it is. Please give him a second chance if you're not one of the people just posting here to troll or add to the hate.
5. To Those of you demanding a picture of Mewbert:
He asked us if he could remain anonymous during his time on the Academy. And seeing the lack of tact in the majority of the negative responses to his position on the team I 100% do not blame him. That being said we made an agreement with Mewbert prior to accepting him onto the Academy that if he does reach the consistent level which would warrant him a spot on our Pro team or anywhere else, he will have to go public with his name and face. He understands that. Hopefully in the meantime he can show the community that he has in fact changed, just as he showed us over a 2 month recruitment process. Hopefully you all who are on the fence can give him/us that chance.
6. To Anyone who missed my initial response in this thread:
On May 02 2013 10:51 WinterTV wrote: We are aware of Mewby's past and throughout the -EIGHT WEEK- Academy recruitment process it became clear that he has embraced turning over a new leaf. Clarity will continue to support him as long as his views and attitude don't change on the matter.
We'd like to ask that the community give him a second chance because most people wouldn't be where they are without one. Give him time to prove his intentions and by all means watch him closely but please don't rush to judgment. Especially over a twitter account that is -NOT- his.
7. To Everyone else who has been positive, supported us before this thread, and who continue to support us after:
Thank you so much for your support, sincerely. I am here doing what I do every day because of people like you. I am not paid, I do this for free. I do it so that I can help an industry that I love grow into something better through my knowledge and experience. Your support makes dealing with all of the negative worthwhile, and we are very lucky and thankful to have your support. That being said, I think you're going to like what you see from us over the next 3 weeks. This announcement was just a taste, even with all of the "extra attention" from the negative responses to Mewbert.
On May 02 2013 13:17 magnaflow wrote: What I meant by that it is only a matter of time before something happens and you will be apologizing on behalf of your team because somebody fucked up
Maybe you are right. Maybe he will mess up. If he does, yes, we will indeed apologize and appropriate action will be taken. He is going to make his own address; not at our request, but at his own volition. He made his own private apology to Geoff of his own accord well before this thread was published, and the backlash ensued. He will be including the evidence of this apology along with his address to the public. I think you (as well as the others) will see that he is indeed a changed man.
Furthermore, please keep in mind that Clarity Gaming is monitoring this situation very carefully. We care very deeply about all of our fans as well as those who provide constructive criticism. Every single post here is being read and discussed by our staff because we believe that feedback from the community is of the utmost importance. We do this because we believe that it is our duty for progressing the industry. We could, as some other professional organizations do, ignore all the negative feedback and brand it as simply white noise but that is not our way.
Also, please keep in mind that there have been many worse things done by players of other organizations in the past and that this is, simply, the witch-hunt du jour.
I'm afraid that, due to the hour, this will be my final response for the evening. A representative of Clarity Gaming will continue with this conversation in the morning.

As vogue said this video was posted awhile ago and I feel like i've changed a lot as a person since then. It is upsetting that something like this is all I have to represent me. A week ago before this even started I apologized to InControl personally in a PM because I felt bad about what I did. Here is a screen shot of the PM: http://puu.sh/2LdE5.png
Before I made the academy and WCS NA was announced DJWheat announced that he was willing to sponsor entry fees for four players. I PM'd him about it and I was honest with him about who I was, I told him about a post I made, and that I called into his show. I Further explained that I was being immature and that I was sorry. I wouldn't normally post personal messages but I think its appropriate right now and I have left everything that can be deemed personal out. http://puu.sh/2LCF5.png
The fake incontrol twitter is not mine either, im not trying to hide anything and im sorry for my mistakes in the past and I hope that you give me the time to prove myself.
Im really appreciative of the people who don't know me and after seeing the video decided to wait or give me a second chance.
Im also sorry to my team mates for being part of the reason this thread is what it is when it was supposed to be about them as much as it was about me.
Thank you Clarity and thanks to the people who support me and stick by my side~
Now, you’re probably wondering who made the cut, and what the final Academy team looks like. Without further adieu, we give you the 9-man all-Grand Master Clarity Academy Inaugural Roster!
Austin “cBadcop” Worthington is a 17 year old Grand Master Terran player hailing from the Sunshine state of Colorado. While he is still relatively young, he has been playing Starcraft since the third grade. After the launch of the long awaited Starcraft 2 Badcop took on a more serious competitive interest.
Although he has yet to attend any major events, Badcop has shown much promise already in 2013 through his top 40 placement in the WCS NA qualifiers and Academy recruitment tournaments; taking first place in each stage of the recruitment process. Badcop considers Starcraft to be the only thing he really cares about in life. Thus he is going to work his hardest to get to a point where he may, one day, be able to play and compete in Korea.
One of two 15 year old Grand Master Terran players on the Clarity Academy is Jonathan “cEliGE” Jablonowski. He hails from Pennsylvania and has been playing Starcraft since the release of Wings of Liberty in 2010. With two admittedly disappointing MLG open bracket performances in 2012 he has set his eyes on attaining a place in the clouds among the top performing foreigners going forward in 2013.
While EliGE is still working through high school, he spends every waking moment outside of that improving his Starcaft 2 knowledge and gameplay. EliGE looks to stand out through the Clarity Academy in the summer of 2013 and springboard to the next level.
The other half of the 15-year-old-Grand-Master-Terran Pie belongs to Andrew “cIntense” Pirelli. Andrew currently resides in California and has been playing Starcraft 2 since early 2011. While Andrew has yet to attend any major events, his light has already begun to shine rather intensely at some of the smaller local SoCal LAN tournaments. Most recently Intense placed 4th behind GiX, Mystik (formerly of Check6), and Bubbles. Intense looks to continue to improve his gameplay while on Clarity as he works towards achieving consistent LAN victories.
“cILoveMKP,” better known to many as Mewby, is a 20 year old Grand Masters Terran player from South Florida. Mewby is probably one of the most intriguing people you will come across on Clarity; perhaps even in all of the current NA Semi-Pro and Pro scene. Starcraft 2 was his first and only introduction into the RTS genre, and he doesn’t appear to be leaving anytime soon.
While Clarity may be the first team he has ever joined, Mewby boasts 13,000+ games played over the course of his two year starcraft 2 career. Mewbert seeks to continue to improve while on the Academy and work towards a level where he can compete and win against even the top Korean players. As he makes his way closer to said goal, we may finally learn a bit more about him.
One of the two protoss’ on the Clarity Academy is Grand Master ‘toss Bailey “cBails” Thomas. Bailey is a 16 year old player from Kansas City who worked his way into the top of the North American Grand Masters from Gold league. Bailey has been playing Starcraft since he was about 4 years old. With the release of Starcraft 2 his competitive will has grown exponentially from his experience climbing the ballte.net ladder. While he is still finishing out his high school career, Bailey is one of the Academy’s most active streamers. He provides high level play, insight, replay review, and is actively engaging with his stream chat.
Bailey also has some experience under his belt at premier events, most notably his attendance to MLG Raleigh 2012; his first LAN attendance. He knocked out iS.Insur 2-0 and ended up making it to the Loser’s Bracket Round 7 where he was eliminated by the South American Terran - Maker 1-2. Bailey seeks to build himself and his skill to the point where he can support himself as a professional gamer and eventually achieve the title of ‘the best player in the world.’
Myles “cBones” Donald was the lone protoss to not only make it through the Academy recruitment process in the final top 8, but also into the top 4; earning himself a slot on the final roster. Myles is currently 18 years old and lives in America’s hat, Ontario, Canada. While he has dabbled in several games like World of Warcraft and RTS’ such as Starcraft: Broodwar, Age of Empires 2; Starcraft 2 was the game to truly ignite his competitive nature. Myles spent the last two years of Wings of Liberty playing at high master’s level and was able to break into Grand Masters with Heart of the Swarm beta. He has only continued to improve and climb the ranks of Grand Master since the game’s official release.
Myles aspires to make the transition from an “up and coming player,” to that of a true progamer. He looks to eventually live in a team house and support himself through his professional Starcraft 2 endeavors while emerging into widespread recognition as a positive contributor and community figure as well as skilled player. He is currently planning to postpone his University education to further explore his future in progaming.
Jace “cMystery” Travis is a 16 year old Grand Master zerg player hailing from Washington state. Previous to Starcraft 2 he played Age of Empires 2 at a semi competitively level which lit the initial flame for his passion and drive for the RTS genre. In the Summer of 2012 Jace dropped Heroes of Newerth and all other games in lieu of a truly competitive start to Starcraft 2.
While Jace may not currently hold any major accomplishments his goals are inline with that of many up-and-comers; reach a level consistent with the top Korean progamers. Jace takes progaming very seriously and will continue to work towards a sustainable career in the industry while furthering his education; something which Clarity supports wholeheartedly.
Formerly of Team LighT, the Grand Master zerg Elaya “csAikOu” Sison brings a lot of experience and knowledge onto the Clarity Academy. From his time on Team LighT and prior with Team tQ and Requiem (later to be the foundation of Quantic) Elaya has attended several premier events - most notably MLG Anaheim 2011 where he made it to the last round of the loser’s bracket and was eliminated by EG.Demuslim 1-2 in a very close series.
Elaya is currently living in Vancouver, British Columbia at the age of 22. He has been playing Starcraft since it’s release back in the 90’s but only started playing competitively with the release of Starcraft 2. While it has been hard for Elaya to dedicate himself entirely to Starcraft 2 as he finishes his degree at UBC, it is his goal to one day reach a level where he is not just one of the best players in North America, but the entire world. In doing so it is his ultimate goal to to make a real living off of progaming and the eSports industry.
Another “elder” on the Academy team playing from the Atlantic Ocean, otherwise known as Nova Scotia, is Thane “cTBo” Borden. Like many Starcraft 2 players his age, TBo has been playing Starcraft more or less since it’s inception in the 90’s when he was 10 years old. After spending some time on Triumph eSports and Team Nightmares (NMx) Thane decided to focus his time on working towards a spot on a professional team. Thane aspires to become a well known and respectable figure in the Starcraft 2 community, both for his skill and his insight into the game. Outside of Starcraft 2 he looks to continue his education through Graduate school in the field of Physiotherapy or as an Exercise Physiologist.
Seeing as Clarity Academy is the new kid on the block, we thought it would be fitting to challenge the OG Academy over at Complexity Gaming. They were the first NA team to introduce the Academy platform to Starcraft 2 and have made big things happen for the likes of Sasquatch and Goswser over the last two years. Let’s see if their current roster is ready for Clarity Academy!
We’re putting up $100 just to raise the stakes a bit. Tune in on Saturday 5/11 at 9PM EST for the showmatch. We’ll have more details out next week on the format, line-ups, map pool, stream info, etc.
Since it’s inception Clarity Gaming has built itself into the organization it is today on a foundation of age old family values; loyalty and trust. These values extend to every branch of Clarity Gaming and the Academy is no exception. In fact, these value may even play a more vital role in the Academy than anywhere else.
The Clarity Academy is designed with two key elements in mind. The first of which is generally regarded as obvious: to highlight up and coming players and give them a platform and structure in which they can make the next step into a professional gaming career. The second and more key focus is education. While you are a part of the Clarity Academy you will be subject to a light, yet structured curriculum which will increase understanding and awareness of industry standards, professional conduct, and the importances of marketing and branding.
Recruitment into the Clarity Academy is an on-going process and is tied into our soon-to-be announced (on or before 5/5) Clarity Community Team. This means once you submit an application and it has been accepted you will not simply be filed away into a document on someone’s hard drive. Instead you will be brought into a group of like minded and goal oriented players and you will be presented with recurring events and a structured group which will help you gain more access to the existing Academy roster, as well as gain the attention of the team and players themselves.
Great looking line up. Bails is gonna be the real terror from this group though! Can't wait to see that kid at future events. Easily one of the best Protoss streams out there to date!
Gl and Hf to all participants! Will be rooting for all of you!

If that his actually him I hope Clarity throws him right off.
Not sure about this guy, but I was glad to see honeybear get weeded out. Some people have no place on such well organized, professional teams (even if it's an academy team).
That said, I'm really glad Winter continues to support young players. I think he can motivate these guys to get really good now that he has a good team to help back up his sick organization and management skills. I hope to see Saikou and maybe mystery hit the main roster if they continue to get better. + Show Spoiler +

Hope they get it taken care of quickly with as few casualties as possible, best of lucky Clarity.

Well I'm not saying the guy is all evil but there's a 12 minute video where he keeps bashing EG and Incontrol on and on in a really childish manner, really doesn't reflect good on him.

Didn't bother watching the whole video (Kudos to Incontrol for keeping his cool from what I saw) but is kicking someone off a team cause he talked shit against another player/team really what we want? If he's spewing racism or something like that then sure kick him off the team but I don't think he said anything monstrously offensive (from what I saw).
A bunch of community personalities (2gd and tasteless come to mind) and myself agree that more trash talk would actually be GOOD for the community as it makes things higher stakes and generally more exciting. It's commonplace in pro sports and is as a huge part of tournament/league storylines.

But there's a difference between trash talk and being a straight-up ass.
Look at 19th October. The video is harmless compared to that. I doubt Khaldor would think that is somehow funny.
Is there any proof that EGiNcholesteroL is mewby?
"Follow my other account @mewbyy" and the fact that he tweeted 2 times in the last few minutes (just as this thread was opened) when he didnt tweet anything in the last few months is evidence enough for me.
edit: fair points have been made and the evidence isnt nearly enough to confirm it is him (my bad) But i still have very little respect for him after seeing that video.

I agree, this is clearly defining evidence that Clarity needs to know about. There is no doubt in my mind now that this asshole needs to be kicked from his team, I would doubt this evidence if it weren't for the video where he bashes incontrol for 12 minutes, but lets be realistic here.
This needs to be brought before Clarity immediatly so that this new starting out team isn't marred by the drama starting to surface about this guy.
I feel sorta bad for the guy but you don't just go around disrespecting major community members and not expecting to get your teeth kicked in later down the road >

I could easily make an account that makes fun of a progamer/personality and put on it "Follow my other account @mewbyy" , what's there to prove that I'm mewbert? And he's had haters for years.
the twitter account @EGiNcholesteroL sent several tweets to clarity gaming at the start of the recruitment process trying to defame mewbert. the tweets have been deleted but clarity gaming's account (@Clarity_Gaming) still has the responses archived. dunno why mewby would hurt his own chances.

The only way this team is going to get any attention at all is through controversy like this. Also everyone disrespects incontrol.
That incontrol twitter account isn't even ilovemkp. It's some guy who was stirring up trouble trying to get winter to not let ilovemkp on the academy around a month ago before he earned his spot.
It's a shame the TL community lets themselves get baited into hatemongering against people with no evidence while simultaneously laughing at every time idra says anything hateful.
Grats to the players who got in, make the best of it.
Meh, I was excited about this team because of the Canadian players but I don't support teams that sponsor knuckleheads or turds that rely on trolling to build fame.
So I hereby wish Clarity Gaming the worst of luck! I hope you either fail or purge your team of bozos!
Ps. Unless I'm entirely mistaken. Don't care enough either way.
Not going to support a team that supports that level of disrespect. Hope they do something about him (beyond just asking him to stop", because I really like what Clarity has done up to date.
Apparently hes quite the offender on ITG, calling other games not true esports, calling incontrol a fat piece of shit(AGAIN) and accusing Tasteless of being a heroin addict.
I have a lot of respect for CG and what they've done for the community, but this MKP guy needs to go :/
The fact that he hangs out on 4chan (hence the reason why his name and picture aren't even posted) and has said racist remarks about KHALADOR OF ALL PEOPLE along with saying really immature things about Incontrol really hurts CG's image.

We are aware of Mewby's past and throughout the 8 week Academy recruitment process it became clear that he has embraced turning over a new leaf. Clarity will continue to support him as long as his views and attitude don't change on the matter.
We'd like to ask that the community give him a second chance because most people wouldn't be where they are without one. Give him time to prove his intentions and by all means watch him closely but please don't rush to judgment. Especially over a twitter account that isn't his.

Think of all those cheaters in bw that got a second chances, Think of geoff's own transgressions into the realm of stupidity(restreaming, dumb things said on sotg ect).
You guys think you have the right to judge a persons mistakes, possibly during a dark time in his life, all the while hiding behind a fake avatar username. Weeks from now you'll probably be on the geoff hate train again with everyone else, and this video will be le epic.

That being said, that chat with incontrol made mewby seem very immature in general, and made incontrol seem like a really nice and reasonable dude lol. I hope mewby's matured and/or grown less caustically cynical in the meantime.

It's easy to throw around absolute statements when generalizing and it's also easy to take these statements too seriously. The idea is that 4chan is generally not a place where logic wins arguments and so people hailing from there are given less benefit of the doubt. Not that there aren't any exceptions. Mewby, on the other hand, at least if his conversation with incontrol is real, shows not just a little but a huge lack of maturity and common sense, considering he is 20 years old. Honestly, you'd have to go out on a limb for him.
Mewby has been nothing but class throughout the entire process, working with the players, going over games, practicing with teammates, and integrating himself into the team atmosphere. On top of that, he has had a fantastic attitude and is always there for his teammates. I don't care what kind of previous reputation he has, I will give a person like that a chance to prove himself 10/10 times.
Congratulations to the new Academy members, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you guys and working through the selection process with you. You guys have a bright future!
The fact that Mewby has been posting on the twitter account EGiNcholestoroL in the past hour pretty much makes this announcement lose all legitimacy to me. Mewby clearly hasnt turned over a new leaf...

They said that he has turned over a new leaf, but every other player that people say that about has not "turned over a new leaf," they just simply try to cover up themselves being jerks. Few players I see actually change.

wow if that video with incontrol is really mewby. Jesus just get rid of him he sounds like a socially inept 30 year old virgin with no hopes or life goals. Cant even show a picture so we can make fun of how ugly he is. Couldnt have 1/4 of the life incontrol has.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually the one in control of the account to create artificial drama and then having his few fans show support for him, he does force him pretty hard. He gets banned daily on 4chan for breaking the rules and changes his IP so he can continue his shitposting crusade. Pathetic really.

Well who wouldn't put on a good attitude for his team lol What you did in the past inevitably comes back
Everyone has done something stupid. When we take something like this and throw it under this ridiculous, punitive magnifying glass, anyone could look like an irrevocable fool, while in fact 100% of the other interactions we have had with him are true to what Winter said:

I'm sure he regrets doing this, just as I'm sure everyone who gets any moment of exposure to the public regrets an action of theirs. What's important is moving past it and showing what kind of person you are going to be moving forward, and Mewby has shown nothing but integrity to not only Clarity Gaming but everyone who took part in the Academy tournament process. I know it's a lot of fun to pull out these pitchforks, but let's try to realize that this is an isolated incident with no evidence to support an attitude from Mewby that condones this sort of behavior.

I fear I'm going to lose my ability to report people. If you have not read the thread I suggest you do so before reposting the same garbage, or jumping on the hate bandwagon. It's honestly a burden to people who like to conserve brain power to continually have to read the same post by different people, even those with significant post counts, that say the exact same thing that has been refuted, denied, or closed on a previous page. If you read a couple pages in why not finish it off before immediately posting and assuming your hate is needed on this issue?
Keep in mind: The point of this thread is to congratulate the CG academy for their final roster. If you /really/ think there is an issue with a specific player you should honestly just talk to the management of CG instead of being like 'WELL YOU GOT THIS GUY, SO SCREW YOUR WHOLE TEAM!' TL posters used to be beyond this sort of stuff but the influx of these types of posts is depressing. Moreover, to complain one day about people killing e-sports and then posting like this is incredibly hypocritical. Funny people look past the cool coverage and importance CG is putting on their academy roster, even helping host a tournament, and instead choose to post on such things they have no internal knowledge of.Think before you post + Show Spoiler +

Didn't know much about Clarity gaming before this, but after watching that video and the rest of the response to him, I can't see myself supporting Clarity gaming. Maybe he has changed, but right now I'm not seeing this as a situation to give the benefit of the doubt as a viewer, rather one to see if the changes are real and then shift my perspective.

do you people even know how 4chan works? and aren't many of you as foreigners, embarassed by some of our pro players? both EG and TL are phasing out foreigners from their teams. nothing worng with making fun of mascot tier players
Personally attacking incontrol on his personal stream while trying to do a Q&A on Raidcall is just straight disrespectful.
What a dick
If that his actually him I hope Clarity throws him right off.
Not sure about this guy, but I was glad to see honeybear get weeded out. Some people have no place on such well organized, professional teams (even if it's an academy team).
That said, I'm really glad Winter continues to support young players. I think he can motivate these guys to get really good now that he has a good team to help back up his sick organization and management skills. I hope to see Saikou and maybe mystery hit the main roster if they continue to get better. + Show Spoiler +
(or play more *looks at saikou*)
Also, I'm ready to fight bro. Come at me.
Thank you for the support Luke. Indeed HoneyBear did not make the initial cut, but he is still working towards a spot in the future. And just like Mewbert, if he proves that he can turn his former attitude/demeanor around then he will also be given a chance on the Academy. Everyone makes mistakes when they are young, quite a few normally. I know I did. Everyone deserves second chances to learn from those mistakes. That is what life is about.
Anyway, looking forward to the showdown next week, it's going to be a lot of fun!

One of these days, but not today apparently. Your decision OP, but thanks to that you're now the team with that piece of shit who feels tough abusing people over the internet.
It's a shame for the other players who made the cut apart from anything else.
I had never heard of mewbyy, but since he joined a gaming team, how about relevant questions to gaming? Does he have a history of hacking or cheating? If he has legitimately proven to be one of the best prospects, then that trumps anything that isn't super egregious. He didn't rape your mom. And even if he did, he'd still get a second chance in this society. I think he deserves a chance on an academy team. If he doesn't prove to be an asset or is detrimental to the team, then... there's an easy solution.
Everyone has an opinion. You might be surprised, but it's not always an opinion of praise and adulation. You simply hear more of those kinds of opinions in a public arena because, frankly, not many people have the guts to say what they truly believe. When everyone already knows what the overwhelming reaction to what they think will be, people tend to suppress saying it.
You guys focusing on him kinda illustrates his point, anyways. Everyone is focusing on someone they don't think deserves a spot on the team, be it skill or personality. Guess what his "beef" was with another player. What makes you guys any better? You could be talking about exciting prospects like Bails and Intense, but they're getting overshadowed by hatred towards another player. If something isn't worthy of attention or w/e in your mind, then focus on the people that seem more deserving of it.
How many viewers would combatex get compared to a mannered player with equal skill? Many people draw a lot of views through things that have 0 to do with skill. A lot of people could do things like cannon rush every game and get a bump in viewers, but many people have more "integrity" than that. In SC 2 esports, sadly, it's not always about earning what you get. If someone wants to have a debate on the subject, then so be it.
On May 02 2013 12:42 playa wrote: Everyone has an opinion.
That's true he didn't rape anyone... He'd be in prison for that. But, we also have opinions, just like he does and we can openly oppose his viewpoints and voice them in this public forum... We don't want him part of our community.
Because people spend too much time criticizing others and involving themselves in the creation and perpetuation of silly drama surrounding the SC2 scene instead of playing the damn game.
My opinion is that the team should disregard any opinions like yours and support Mewby as a player. People who get caught up in the bullshit shouldn't try and claim ownership of the community's opinions on things that don't really matter.
A little advice for Clarity Academy; double check whether Mewbert is actually GM. I watched his stream a couple of months ago and he was mid masters and, no offense, bad. Watch him play. Compare it with older reps, etc... I'm not accusing him of anything based on any solid, but if he's not cheating, he improved very fast, and at a rate he wasn't improving at before.
If he's actually HOTS GM, serious congratulations.

I really find this sentiment funny. If you want, I can post sexist, misogynistic, homophobic remarks from just about every progamer from the BW era. And flames that would make Mewbert blush. TL.net, WGT, Team Canada, even Battle.net forums. Do you want them gone too?
After seeing some of the interactions with Incrontrol, I dont understand why any team would sign such a, to be polite, dumbfucker. Being that arrogant to an important figure in the community is just ridiculous, and I kinda wish I could see that kid at a lan and see how tough and real he would be in front of Incontrol. Id love to see Incontrol punch his face even more. Several times but not too hard.

Very well Said. I will go ahead and follow this up with some of my own thoughts.
To those of you who have come into this thread only to bash one -ONE- of the nine players that we have announced on this roster and/or to only follow it up with "well i will never support a team who has someone like this on their roster:" (I assume most of these people are trolls, but I see some of you have high post counts on TL)
To the rest of you who appear to be sincere: If you really feel that way then you probably were not actually a fan of Clarity Gaming to begin with.
To those of you betting against us, calling us a 'small start up team,' etc: Thanks, we welcome the challenge.
For those of you who aren't the obvious mewbert haters/trolls and are just now learning about Clarity Gaming's existence: Hopefully you can overlook the past of -one- of the almost 40 people this organization supports.
To those of you continuously posting someone else's twitter and saying it is Mewberts: Please stop.
To Those of you demanding a picture of Mewbert: He asked us if he could remain anonymous during his time on the Academy.
To Anyone who missed my initial response in this thread:

We'd like to ask that the community give him a second chance because most people wouldn't be where they are without one. Give him time to prove his intentions and by all means watch him closely but please don't rush to judgment. Especially over a twitter account that is -NOT- his.
To Everyone else who has been positive, supported us before this thread, and who continue to support us after: Thank you so much for your support, sincerely.

We were aware of it some weeks ago, and it is nowhere near as bad as some of things that other professional gamers have done in the past and recovered from. So, take that for what it is. Please give him a second chance if you're not one of the people just posting here to troll or add to the hate.
To Those of you demanding a picture of Mewbert: He asked us if he could remain anonymous during his time on the Academy.
To Everyone else who has been positive, supported us before this thread, and who continue to support us after: Thank you so much for your support, sincerely.
Sincerely, Mike 'winteR' Ortlani
Look at what you are having to do already. Damage control, and you've barely started. I hope the best for your other players but I won't be surprised when you have to make an apology post for the behavior from one of your players.

No, I'm saying that I could provide horrible racist, sexist, misogynist, flame posts from tons of BW-SC2 progamers. You seem to hate Mewbert's flaming. Do you hate them too? They've posted worse on the forums I've named.
(BTW, I would never do this, just stating a fact).
I'm not a BW fan, so no, I can't really entertain this hypothetical, I don't follow forums where it's mainly trolls... I would however never support any caster or player who vulgarly attempted to bring down another player/caster for no reason other than for "cheap laughs" as he so eloquently stated. Like I said previously, he purposely went on InControl's show, with the intent in front of thousand of fans, maliciously attack him. Some players freak out during streaming, but they don't go out of their way to attack another member of the community, such as joining their stream/podcast/whatever and attacking them like that... And if they did... No I would not support them.
So you're against incontrol as well for getting cheap laughs at Destiny's expense?
Congrats to those who makes the team , i just watch the video with Incontrol and i disagree with you guys to add mewbert i really like Sterling Motok and Shuttle it would be great if you would kick this guy... On a side note funny how he is the only one without a picture :D

Giving someone a chance to redeem themselves based on what Winter said earlier:
throughout the -EIGHT WEEK- Academy recruitment process it became clear that he has embraced turning over a new leaf.
does not equal "condoning the shit he said to incontrol".
Beyond 'second chances' and 'similar behavior from other players,' Mewbert has come a long way since that video was first made. He was around mid-high masters when he had that conversation with iNcontroL and, yeah, some of the stuff he said was pretty rude. But the take-away I got from that debate was iNcontroL telling Mewbert to fuck off, the world is unfair, and that he works 'really hard.' So what happens next? Mewbert ladders his fucking ass off and gets to top 50 GM (HIGHER THAN INCONTROL) in six months. This is a guy that was platinum league in early 2011.
Instead of looking at this as a source to condemn Mewbert's BM, I choose to look at it as proof of Mewbert's determination. I honestly cannot wait for the day when Mewbert matches iNcontroL in a tournament and 2-0's him. Maybe it'll show who's actually "working really hard."

Agreed. It's a shame too because I really like their current pro lineup and the rest of their academy crew. I've been following this team for quite a while now, but this mewbert guy really ruins it. When will these smaller teams learn that having combatex wannabes are not going help them in the long run.
Let's not forget he's known to stream snipe, cheat, and bm high profile community figures for no reason while they stream. People like that do not deserve to be a part of what I thought was a good organization CG was running. They should just stick with being ladder heroes and not tarnish the good reputations teams work so hard to achieve.
Good luck with the new team. Glad to see that Clarity Gaming is trying to foster new talent. I truly hope that your player mewbert is able to stay under control and that he no longer acts the way he did (that video linked was brutal to watch/hear). Best of luck to the academy.
Btw keep up the good work with those recaps and player of the month article, they are fun to read.

I like how he went from being a BM kid to a stream sniper/cheater with no proof whatsoever.
Most of us would be damned for life if people judged us only from what we've said or done as naive teenagers. I'm glad that he's getting a new chance and he seems to be really passionate about the game (who wouldn't after 40k games), that's good enough for me so yeah go mewby!

Your conclusion does not follow logically: A ∧ B therefore ~B...?
No. We do not condone his past actions. That being said, we do recognize that they are in his past and that people grow up. I know that there are things that I did in my teens I would never have done a month later. We have weighed in the fact that he showed us, through eight weeks in the recruitement process, that he has changed. We have continued giving him the chance we initially gave him, even after learning about his actions with Geoff. We will continue to give him a chance as long as he acts in a professional, mature manner.
All that being said, he (like all of our players) will have action taken against him the moment that he does not hold to Clarity Gaming's standards of decorum.

So their owner is now taking the "well he did it first/he did it too" argument? This is fabulous
Mewbert pisses me off so much, but I really hope he has changed. I wish both his and Clarity the best of luck and hopefully Mewbert can prove us all wrong that he has indeed changed. I do kind of feel bad for Clarity for having to go through all this so soon...but hey if it works out in the end, then it works out. GL!
I bet most of the hate in this thread is coming from the twitter account (which apparently isn't his).
The fact that the twitter account was active recently means nothing other than that that person really wants to get mewby kicked from Clarity.

It's funny how people like to point this argument and say "see look at this flawed argument, /raise monocle" without ever saying what is wrong with it. As a new organization, there is nothing wrong with looking at many past organizations and taking similar actions for similar levels of player issues.
In fact, I'd say they were stupid if they didn't look at past precedents in the community and instead just kicked him immediately on the first complaint.

I would like to commend you for committing to this witch hunt like this person personally insulted your mother. Our scouting staff is some of the best out there, if things work out poorly and he represents us in a negative manner then feel free to bash us as much as you'd like. If you can build up a solid case of things he's done poorly to represent us in a negative light SINCE JOINING CLARITY, then please present your case and we would have no issue with reviewing it and taking the proper course of action. Also, I don't take anonymous message board posts or fake twitter accounts to be solid evidence without proper supporting documentation.

Ah... so your standard for judging your OWN player's behavior/conduct is based on "the worse things done by other players in the past..." Great "standards" for a new team.
So their owner is now taking the "well he did it first/he did it too" argument? This is fabulous
That's a negative. WinteR is simply explaining that many of your fan favorites have troubled pasts as well but were able to prove themselves with second chances. He and I were around in the early BW days, where we have seen many influential people in their younger years. Let's just say they were nothing close to what they are now.

I don't usually post on TL, because I use the alternative starcraft communities more frequently, but I feel like it needs to be said here.
Mewbert is a hard-working player. I remember back in 2012 in /scv/ Mewby was the only person we could really rally behind. He streamed for us and ground out games to improve himself as a player. Yes he's a BM, but could you honestly find someone who isn't? And most of his hate is spawned from being in an edgy club like /scv/. Keep him around, see how it goes, but tell him to shape up.
hey, good luck to clarity gaming, great to see new teams with young players pop up.
i feel like this mewbert thing isn't gonna end well though. since he has matured, maybe he'd care to apologize or acknowledge that the things he said to incontrol were rude and unjustified? i feel like that'd help a little.
i really hope you guys will do well, but i'm not gonna support mewbert if he still acts the same way he did when that video was recorded. "others did worse" is not an argument you should be using i think, because others already have a fan base and can afford to do questionable things. sounds dumb, but eh. you're the new guys, and you'll have to act your absolute best to accumulate a fan base. inside the game as well as outside the game.

I never implied that two people couldn't have the same password. I posted those links to show those were the only other posts with that same trip, and they were from mid-2012. He's an active poster who always posts as Anonymous, if that was him why would there only be 3 posts in an entire year?
Also calling his fans "drones" for defending him might have revealed the real reason why you're slandering him. Could it be you're jealous of his success?
In 20 or 30 years there's going to be some hilarious news stories as US presidential candidates have to own up to things they said on Facebook and online forums during their teenage years.
Congrats to the new team! I look forward to new content in the near future. I must admit I wasn't familiar with any of these players before now, but I hope to become more acquainted with their personalities and playstyles soon!
Let's be realistic here: Mewbert is a ~20soemthing who works at a fucking grocery store. I don't know how academical intelligent he is, but It doesn't sound like he has a lot of options. He isn't too socially intelligent either and hasn't escaped from his post-adolescence rebellion. He's stuck in the I'm too smart to work hard phase we all were in at some point or another. Eventually, he will come to realize that being immature and negative can only get you so far in life. I doubt he will have the wear-withal to survive in a community that disdains bad manors if he continues to act in the way he has been. He won't make any major splash; after all you'd think after 13,000 games played you'd have won something notably by now. His hatred for people with more success than himself who he feels are undeserving is a classic example of narcissistic rage. He will either grow up or fade into the bleak obscurity of middle-age underachiever who could have/should have but didn't

The community now knows what type of people you support, and what type of actions your team condones. You will accept player's conduct on your team as long as "worse things" have been done by players in the community. This has been an enlightening experience.
To be fair, the man wrote a detailed, fair rebuttal of your argument and you've chosen to pull him up on a single throw away line.
They've said that while he comes under the umbrella of their organisation they will give him a chance, rather that punish him now for past discrepancies. I think that's fair enough.

You don't know what has gone on behind the scenes, stuff that has been solved weeks/months ago. All you see is a video that's 9 months old. If you think me saying that you are on a 'witch hunt' is a personal attack, then I don't think there's anything else to say. "fgdfgdgdf" doesn't seem too serious. The rest of your post is just made up.
Also he has a Twitter so I'm pretty sure if he wanted to be serious he'd just say it there.
I like Clarity, lineup looks cool, lot of younglings in there and respect your decision to run your organisation as you see fit.
Fuck this Mewby guy though. Not for being disrespectful, some of the community's sacred cows can be made fun of by all means. Fuck him for his complete of even a modicum of wit, intelligence, humour or anything to his attacks. The personification of the modern 'troll', when previous incarnations actually involved some brainpower and a lot less malice.
People like that are why half the internet is borderline unusable, god.
Well the only issue I have is with the argument "we do things when we are young. he's matured since then". August 2012 was nine months ago --- not nine years. If he was 20 then (which he mentioned on the video), then he's 21 now. i don't think people change that quickly.
Pretending to change may be good enough though, since now that he's got something to lose, at least there will be less raging in public.....?
Guys, let me just say that winteR is one of the most straight-up, earnest people within the esports scene. The 8 weeks that I had the pleasure and privilege of working with him, were rewarding in every way, especially in the regard of personality and individual development of persons.
Regardless of all prejudiced opinions of various applicants going into the academy, he has given everyone, a fair trial. Rest assured, Clarity gaming is a straight-up organization with him as a part of it.
I give winteR my full trust in this judgement call. If you disagree, that's fine, but let me just say that if you can't trust him, there's few people in this industry you can trust. Do you want convincing? I want people to know that I placed #10 out of the 9 available roster spots. I was ONE spot away from making it onto this roster, I am still here saying this. I trust his call to wait for me to season more as a player and person. I can say honestly that I am thankful that he was the person to make the final decision for all academy applicants.
My personal experiences with Mewbert, and they ARE limited, show that although he can be a bit of a troll, they were in good jest (I found them funny too), and that he isn't a bad person. When I got frustrated during our matches, he did not respond to me in the least in a negative manner, he kept his form and acted like an adult.
People deserve second chances, and that being said, I cannot stress enough that no matter who you are or where you are, you are responsible for the things you say. If you want to be professional, you have to BEHAVE professionally before you are. The Clarity Academy has taught me this, and rest assured, Mewbert passed this criteria.
If at the start he doesn't call all of his opponents shit and bad and wish cancer on them, he's already doing better than Idra, who many people don't have a single problem with.
Let him have a chance, and unless his behaviour in the wild as a member of Clarity Academy is worse than Idra, leave him alone. People are giant pricks in the SC2 community while playing, TotalBiscuit often rages hardcore against people on the forum, and there are plenty of people who support him as well.
People have talked about Naniwa being BM in the past, and while some people still don't like him, you would hardly say he should be kicked off a team.
Step 1) Give him a chance, as Clarity Gaming are Step 2) If he doesn't end up behaving, then let Clarity do what they probably will
No point in being judge, jury and executioner based on thought crime though. His past actions may have been questionable and/or plain bad, but that doesn't mean future actions will be.
I don't care about this Mewby character and I probably never will. I just find it very satisfying that one of these horrible trolls, who's been a horrendous jerk, gets a taste of his own medicine.
Best of luck to Clarity Gaming and its members, excluding Mewby obviously.
Mewberts thighs were raw, yet he couldn't sit still, his voluptuous yet sculped buttocks weaved in a figure of eight, like the two wreaths he has inside his black lamborghini diablo (2013, with leather seats, hand carved steering wheel and two wreaths of andromeda hanging inside), his friend Adam, who mewbert joking refers to as "the snabbler" for the inexplicable crab like hands he has after an unfortunate driving accident in mewberts car (not the black lambo with the two wreaths, the 2010 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport) began gently stroking mewberts eyelids; "I can't tell if your semen or mine" chuckled the sneebler. "it's lucky I ate pineapple last night" mewbert heartily replied
Suddenly there was a knock at the door, mewberts mother must have driven home early in her sons car (2003 Ferrari Enzo, yellow, plaid seats), mewbert was still twitching and the sneggler could think of nothing but his dog in his panic. Luckily for them both however it was Geoff "incontrol" Robinson in his new Peugeot 106. Recently mewbert and Jeff "incontrol" robertson had a falling out regarding mewberts yacht from the caribbean but the snobbler knew nothing about it.
john "incontrol" jefferson smiled heartily as he entered the kitchen loudly booming his signature catchphrase "Where's the ice cream gentlemen?"
mewbert promptly apologised, running out of his house ashamed and upset with his argument with josef "incontrol" williamson, there was just something about the way jole "incontrol" hampton said "ice cream" that made him realise how much he actually loved both of them, 'the snuckler' whimpered, semen spurting with each syllable "dont go to the goathouse, you are allergic to goat"
mewbert left with an empty feeling in his heart, one eye closed and a hand full of ice cream.
geodude "incontrol" hubbleson muttered under his breath with disappointment in himself and mewbert, doing something he has never been done before; repeat his infamous patented catchphrase made on july 22, 1999 during the ice cream crisis of mississippi.
Raging at someone because you lost to them and taking time out of your life to do what Mewby did are two different things. One makes you a sore loser. The other makes you an idiot and a bully.
You don't see Idra, TB, or anyone who actually matters going out of their way maliciously trying to ruin other people's fun, or attempting to destroy what other people have built for themselves, or "for a cheap laugh", or whatever other lame rationalization Mewby came up with to explain his desperate cry for attention.
The sc2 community is quick to judge people. I truly believe that everyone deserves a second chance. Look at what Incontrol did to destiny a while back, we learn to forgive people and let our lives continue. Same should apply to mewbert.

It is not really difficult to judge quick after watching the video. Might sound arrogant, but I am sure I can spot the difference between someone who "did a mistake" and someone who has a toxic personality.
Ofcourse Mewb doesn't shit on people he is actively practicing with and needs to get along with in order to make it on the team. There is obvious personal benefit to him doing so.
Him being a shitter to Incontrol is an entirely different story. This is what the guy does for fun. A guy who has no connection to him and someone he thought would have no outcome on his sc2 career.
If mewbert hasn't being a shit head recently it's because he can't afford to be. I honestly can't comprehend how Incontrol forgave him and he is a saint for doing so. He talks shit and is an all around douche just for fun, as well as being dumb as a post. gl with that
The witch hunt going on here is ridiculous. I guess you can always count on TL to raise up the pitchforks and act all holier-than-thou. People make mistakes. People do stupid things. With the modern internet, it's both far easier to do stupid things and far more likely that it will come back to haunt you.

I honestly don't see how a very old video of mid-masters mewbert shit talking Geoff on stream has any relevance.
Geoff's already said he has apologised a while ago and besides that, who cares really? It's not like he is/was a maphacker like Dragon who is on a pro-team. He just said some stupid shit to a guy who he later went on to apologise to anyway.
There is an active smear campaign against Mewbert by people like asdfou420 who has been banned anyway. I hope nothing bad happens to him. He works hard and deserves his place in the academy.

And for as long as he's on this team, he'll continue to not be able to afford to be.
People deserve second chances. I don't know whether you people are too young to understand what being 20 is like, or too old to remember what being 20 is like, but there's a lot of growing up that happens in a short time.
Best of luck to Clarity Gaming, looking forward to seeing how you guys do.
I am 20 actually, and there is a difference between being forgiven for saying inappropriate things on ladder when you get angry and what mewbert did. He is not only bm on ladder, or was, but he actually went on raidcall and basically spit in incontrols face then made a twitter account mocking him and calling khaldor a nazi. I don't care if you're 20 or 50, you have to be a piece of shit at heart to do those things and he should not be forgiven in any way. In fact he's given more proof just today that he's a piece of trash https://twitter.com/EGiNcholesteroL "Thug means never having to say you're sorry" -mewbert 2013.
Please Clarity, think long and hard about giving any attention to this douche.
People make mistakes. People deserve second chances.
This is the kind of attitude that repeatedly gets you, teams, and good folks screwed over. Not EVERYONE deserves second chances when they have proven themselves time and time again to be a less than adequate person. Clarity is just gullible if they think this is the end of this nonsense.

I really wish I could moderate certain forums sometimes ;~; P.S: If you don't think they'll solve the problem if anything else like this happens in the future you'd have to be incredibly silly.
Very well Said. I will go ahead and follow this up with some of my own thoughts.
To those of you betting against us, calling us a 'small start up team,' etc: Thanks, we welcome the challenge.
For those of you who aren't the obvious mewbert haters/trolls and are just now learning about Clarity Gaming's existence: Hopefully you can overlook the past of -one- of the almost 40 people this organization supports.
To those of you continuously posting someone else's twitter and saying it is Mewberts: Please stop.
To Those of you demanding a picture of Mewbert: He asked us if he could remain anonymous during his time on the Academy.
To Everyone else who has been positive, supported us before this thread, and who continue to support us after: Thank you so much for your support, sincerely.
Sincerely, Mike 'winteR' Ortlani
Hey I wish nothing but the best for your team, but good luck dealing with the negative PR you will continue to get. Let's be realistic here. New teams need good players with good backgrounds to even be considered by sponsors. Having a 20 year old man-child call up and insult another player from a respectable team just for laughs isn't going to help out your cause. If he hasn't grown up by now, he isn't going too. Destiny is a perfect example of what hurts a teams image; Quantic and Root had to part ways with him because of his actions(though I love me some Destiny).
Sponsors will be very hesitant to do and continue business with you.You are also setting a precedence with your team on discipline and ethics. So why keep a player on your team like that when you know it's just going to make the hill you have to climb that much higher?
Mewby has haters, maybe it's deserved. But he also has a lot of supporters too, while most aspiring pro-gamers and even some already established pros don't have any.
If Clarity forgives Mewby and give him a chance it will become my favorite team, the team I'll support to the end, the team I would even donate money if needed. That's how much I love Mewbert and how much I would love Clarity gaming if things don't get out of hands. A lot of people feel the same.
Wow. Glad that everyone on the internet doesn't know every single bone-headed thing I've done!
I knew nothing about Mewbert before today, but I won't write him off based on one incredibly dumb incident. I hope Clarity can be a positive influence. They seem to have a done a lot and I've been a fan of theirs, so I'll have faith in them.
First off i'm sorry to Clarity for any harm i've done to them. They have really hard working people and the last thing I want to do is hurt them. Im embarrassed about my actions in the video with InControl and I don't think its an accurate representation of who I am.

Mewby has been nothing but class throughout the entire process, working with the players, going over games, practicing with teammates, and integrating himself into the team atmosphere. On top of that, he has had a fantastic attitude and is always there for his teammates.
He relished in it, was given multiple chances to cut it out but he is nothing but a bully and this team backs him up blindly because he is kind to THEM. Yes of course he'll be kind to his friends, is it that surprising he's a class act in front of you? Does that excuse what he did, the pos he was throughout the whole conversation when he was treated with respect and as an adult by the person he was disparaging.
I'm just glad this didn't go unnoticed, because now a lot of people see the kind of team this is, instead of a statement of apology you prop him up because he was kind to you guys. Yeah no shit he was. And whats the other excuse, because others do it it's ok? Awesome, you guys are going places! Keep up the great work, rise above the rest huh.
Seeing that video was cringing, seeing the other adults in the room beside him patting him on the back, what a good guy he is, is..fucking typical really.
ok, this guy is officially cancer. There is no way Clarity could know anything about this and have him on their team.
dear lord. I'm going to be actively rooting against this mewby douche.
what did Khaldor do to anybody?
And Khaldor, no wonder his picture isn't there. This guy is another Deezer borderline CombatEx.
That's also not mewbert's twitter, by the way. It's been pointed out several times in this thread already.
There happen to be a reference, I'm on page 5 and all I see is they are speculating it's not while others believe he's trying to cover his own tracks. It's either one and the same person or the karma that another asshole is out to get him is incredible. Not to mention the other person in question also takes the time in his life to make fun of incontrol because he "looks" fat (when in reality it's all muscle), enough to make and continue updating a twitter account. Incredible coincidence/karma or one and the same. The former would be so ironic it should go down in a record book.

Really disappointing that you picked up Mewbert, he has repeatedly been incredibly BM to me on ladder, most of the time using very offensive racial slurs such as the N word, I sure hope he's gotten better since he called me a "n****rloving g**k sheep f****r" or I'll be sure to spread the word of the negative image I have of your academy team.

Not that I think you really care. You're just here to stir the pot - that is quite evident by your last few posts.

Oh yeah? Do you have any proof of this? A replay, a screen shot, anything? I doubt it or you probably would have posted it.
You know I think this is an interesting misconception worth debating, and here looks like a good opportunity. If this is off topic then I apologize and will stop immediately, but given the chance, I just want to make a quick point.
When I first watched Combat Ex, he seemed like a nice guy, actually just seemed very sarcastic but like he genuinely cared for his fans and the quality he puts out. I had no idea the things he put out may have been dishonest and that he was belittling and disingenuous at the time until it eventually became clear. He went from a sarcastic but decent guy to an all out ass, troll, you name it. So what happened, where is he now? Does this sort of thing really work?
Then take someone like Day9 who at the time didn't even have the same following as CombatEx, or even Husky starcraft who also didn't like CombatEx's attitude. These guys are genuinely kind and mature, they don't resort to getting more hits so to speak at another persons expense. Where are they now? Husky starcraft has 3/4 of a MILLION subs, Day9 has Day9daily.
Now lets look at a more recent case. EgIdra everyone likes to refer to. Look at him and Demuslim. EgIdra was a total badass but when I followed him he still seemed like a genuinely good guy, he never seemed anything close to Combat or this no name, he simply didn't call GG for what he felt wasn't GG and was genuinely pissed at the imbalance of races. But he worked hard, you could tell, he was very serious before, he was human but now what happens. He begins to really belittle people above and beyond, telling someone he hopes they get cancer. So EgIdra's stream gets nocked down in viewers while Demuslim, generally a nice guy, doesn't have to resort to any of that, by far isn't the best of the very very best, but look at the views he gets.
So does this sort of crap really get more views, especially in the long run? Is it the integrity, and not crossing the line and rising above it that gets more views. You can be the judge, but just wanted to put my opinion of it out there. To stay on subject, this guy is 20 years old, this isn't his past catching up to him either, this is very recent. At 20 years old, if he's not drilled that this is fucked up to do, that no one likes a bully besides other bullies, then what age does it take for him to change? Again, this is current, this isn't a mistake that's catching up to him from his past. I'm not calling from him to be removed from the team, I'm just expressing how f'd up that was in not exactly the same way he expressed his displeasure with Incontrol, and for what? The hell did Incontrol do to him anyway?
ok, this guy is officially cancer. There is no way Clarity could know anything about this and have him on their team.

Thanks, Mike
The more pages I read the more I feel bad that you have to attend to this every other page.
Thanks, Mike
The more pages I read the more I feel bad that you have to attend to this every other page. I think it might be easier, just a suggestion, to put this kind of statement on the first page at the top or something while this is currently playing out since the more this grows, the more it is likely people just won't see like I didn't, what was written on your part somewhere in the middle of all this between the random growing pages. Best of luck to you.
I did post my initial response in the OP, but at the bottom. But that is a good point. I will add it into the top of the OP. Thanks~
Well, second chances should be earned over time and not simply given. If the change is legitimate and not simply self serving propaganda then it'll become apparent over time. Until then, good luck to the rest of the players.

Why would we apologize? We have done nothing wrong. Mewbert will be release his own personal address to the public. But we certainly will not be apologizing for anything posted here in this thread today.
What I meant by that it is only a matter of time before something happens and you will be apologizing on behalf of your team because somebody fucked up
Maybe you are right. Maybe he will mess up. If he does, yes, we will indeed apologize and appropriate action will be taken. He is going to make his own address; not at our request, but at his own volition. Honestly, I was really surprised when I learned the person in the Incontrol stream clip and Mewbert were the same person, and I was shocked that anyone would let this person join anything other than their shit list, let alone their team. But I prepared to give Mewby the benifit of the doubt in spite of my initial reaction, then I read his apology, then I read more of the thread and have seen how Clarity is going to handle this and other situations like this (if it happens again), and now it's not just that I'm ready to do forgiving, it's completely out of my mind and done with now.
Classy is how I would describe the actions of the accused/Clarity in this thread. GG WP. You will catch no flak from me, and I certainly hope others feel the same way. GL to Mewbert, I hope you really do love MKP and that you and your teammates grow to dominate the scene with class, skill, and success.

OMG this post was right above my first one. Wow, holy facepalm. Sorry for not seeing it, it's just I hit reply well before the last page. So used to reddit for having the most relevant things at the top, I gotta remember to be diligent and read up on ongoing threads that have this format. Thank you for posting that. Originally I thought you were here just to cause trouble. But I see now that you are actually trying to be constructive. Thanks for the apology and clearing up your end of things!
ok, this guy is officially cancer.
They're not his tweets. It is not his twitter.
To address one of your concerns from your earlier post: We will be addressing the community with a press release later tonight. We will not be apologizing, simply addressing this matter in it's entirety.
Not that I think you really care. You're just here to stir the pot - that is quite evident by your last few posts.
Cheers~
I sincerely apologize to you and am glad you and the party at hand are handling this maturely and even creating a press release. I jumped in and fired off before even reading what was established already. Seeing this sort of thing go on through school, being on the receiving end of it, it killed me to see it to a good person and motivated me enough to reply when I'm usually a lurker. But with this format doesn't work too well for the most relevant information, not dissing the site, it is amazingly well moderated and I'm grateful for it, but it is what it is and I didn't do my part due to the personal feelings I had about that kind of distasteful interaction that was so painful to watch.
I've been reading all of the past pages and replying as I went, and didn't even look at the new stuff until now after finishing since I was working my way up realizing the most relevant information will be in the middle somewhere, so again I apologize for the late reply and only after having so much of my say when most of it has been established. Not sure how this whole thing came to light now, I just assumed the video was recent when I double checked now to see it was from 2012. I think in the end it is good to see these sorts of things weeded out and the people held accountable because in all honesty, how would you feel being in Incontrols shoes you know? I always go by treating others the way you want to be treated, and thought all this time I was standing up to someone, but again really sorry I didn't read up before posting. There's another lesson learned, like I said I'm mostly a lurker here you can probably see with my post count.
Wish you all the best again, sincerely sorry you keep having to go through this and hope everyone becomes better for it and it becomes a well learned lesson and only serves to strengthen those involved to better themselves.

Thank you so much for your input and support. I hope that if there are more people who feel similarly to you that they will also come forward and share their opinion. I would not have spent this much time sticking my neck out to back up Mewbert if I didn't believe his efforts were not sincere. I have talked with him over skype several times over the last 8-9 weeks and I truly do believe he is changed. And I think the PM's he shows are evidence of that.
I did not even know he had sent one to DJ Wheat until last night. If I felt it was necessary, I could even show you skype logs between Mewby and I where he has asked my advice on how to best go about apologizing and making amends for his actions. I didn't approach him to do any of that for sake of PR cover ups or anything. It was all his own volition. Anyway I don't think it's necessary to bring any of that into this. I am just simply trying to help people understand why I trust that he has changed.
And believe me, if he hasn't - I'm sure you can imagine I will be the first one to take action against him. Simply because I have stuck my neck out.
Anyway thanks again for the feedback and input and your support!

Thank you so much for posting this. Apology accepted, of course. People make mistakes, that is what life is about. But we are nothing if we can not own up to them and learn from them. Mewby is a perfect example of that.
Also double check that you didn't miss the post I quoted you on right before you posted the response I am responding to here.
Anyway I'll say again, thanks for the apology and for genuinely trying to help and be constructive.
Just curious, if mewby and others are saying the twitter account is not his, why is the most recent post addressing his apology in this thread? Just doesnt make sense to me.

Around a year ago I played vs Mewbert in a 4chan sponsored tournament called the /vg/SL, here's the bracket: http://challonge.com/vgslNA1
He played under the name Foxer, which I'm sure anyone from the /vg/ community will vouch for or can confirm. In the semifinals I knocked him out 2-1, and he proceeded to explode at me, this is the only proof I have as I reformatted recently and haven't played any ladder in the last few months or so.
Here's a screenshot I took after he made a number of rude remarks following his defeat in a later /vg/ tournament: + Show Spoiler +
, this was followed by him being extremely offensive/racist every time we played on ladder or in subsequent tournaments.
Not sure how I can prove his ID was Foxer at the time but I'm sure anyone who knew him back then can confirm this for me.
edit: just realized that someone whose name has been "ILoveMKP" is probably prone to naming himself Foxer as well if that gives any credibility
Not trying to offend the rest of your team as I'm sure they're all really hard working, skilled players, but Mewbert has an overwhelmingly negative reputation from repeatedly acting like a child to other players. Good luck with Clarity Academy, regardless of how this situation pans out.

Is this a real question or a troll? I assume real question looking at your post count.
Answer: Anyone can make a twitter account (as it is free) and anyone can put in that twitter profile and say "I am so and so." And post content in another person's name. It doesn't mean that it is actually the person they say they are who is doing it.
What would be more confusing is why he would make a secondary account to slander himself when he is trying to earn the trust of the public. What sense does that make?
The owner of the @EGiNcholesteroL account is obviously a very dedicated anti-mewby fan. He was the person who tweeted the video of mewby and incontrol to me over a month ago. The then deleted his tweets, and only the responses we sent to him remain. Someone posted this somewhere on page 4 or so. The guy is obviously still trying to trick people into thinking it is actually Mewby's account by posting relevant information.
So, hopefully that clears that up for you or anyone else. It is really the last I hope to hear about it. I don't really see why it's confusing in the first place.

So you don't have proof. You have your word, and a screen shot of a person on an account which may or may not be his. Anyway, whether it is really him or not is irrelevant because of how outdated that is. Why do you feel the need to bring something that is over a year old up now? If it really was mewby, I'm sure he regrets the things he said to you, as well as many other people. He apologized for his actions with InControl, which mind you was 9 months ago. And InControl has let it go. He has apologized for the resulting discussion in this thread, to his team mates, to incontrol, to DJ Wheat, to the people within Clarity.
So I ask you - Why bring something like this to light if you can't -really- substantiate your claim? It's not like you're coming in here to tell us that "2 weeks ago Mewby BM'd me on ladder, and you shouldn't trust him, he is lying to you and taking advantage of you, here is "x,y,z" for proof." You're just perpetuating the hate, and making my life more difficult.
You're not saving us from anything. We know he has an immature and troubling past. You are now just perpetuating this issue with something more minuscule, less proven, and more outdated than the Video from 9 months ago. A video by the way, which is the only -REAL- piece of evidence anyone has brought forward against Mewby and his former immature conduct.
We have seen that he has changed. We believe he is earnest in his change, and wants to make good on himself and his name. We have been seeing it for 8-9 weeks through actions and conversations. Read my posts above on this page. There is a reason I have gone at such lengths to stick out for him. I believe he is really making an effort to do the right thing.
If you or anyone else can bring forth -REAL- evidence to show us otherwise, I am interested. But this is not the case with what you have brought forth. Until evidence is brought forth (Evidence that is substantial, provable, and most importantly - RECENT) to show us that Mewby is nothing other than earnest in his ways, we will continue to support him.
On May 03 2013 09:24 eXigent. wrote: Just curious, if mewby and others are saying the twitter account is not his, why is the most recent post addressing his apology in this thread? Just doesnt make sense to me.
This really makes no sense. It's incredibly ironic that is for sure, but someone for some reason doesn't like him, which given the way he was may not be too surprising. Now is the chance for him to rise above this level and if who ever is using that acct (seriously wish Twitter did SOME kind of moderating, I mean I understand free internet but for people to blatantly take someones else's identity for the sole purpose of making fun of that person shouldn't be tolerated), if who ever is using that account remains that way it will only show the growth of the other party and time and again it's been shown that the bigger party, the one that rises above this sort of crap, is the one that gets the last laugh in a much better position and happier situation all around. Examples like Husky Starcraft compared to CombatEx, heck even Destiny matured a lot and was better for it when he did, with thousands of followers until he slipped up and it only hurt his career but he's bouncing back from it in his own way.
The ball is in his court but I actually am beginning to feel bad for him if he's genuinely turning a new leaf because it will be hard to make up for some of the things coming to light like the possible racist remarks where, in EG's case, an announcer who's past came to let didn't get off so lucky and was immediately terminated. The ball is in his court and also his peers who seem like genuinely great guys, no matter how this turns out he's lucky to have met them.

probably because they think it's funny to ruin him he's not a big name in general but he is in the community he's from
I said this in my edit but I guess it'd probably go unnoticed, but gl to the rest of Clarity Academy, and I apologize for potentially taking attention away from all of you with what I posted.
So a player is so shitty to community figures and is generally disliked by the community to the point where he WANTS TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS, and he STILL gets a team spot?
I think the basic idea that he completely overshadowed his fellow teammates/the team formation announcement because he's so BM is worth enough, let alone the fact that he doesn't want to show his face to a community he's shown his true self to and we didn't appreciate all that much.
Oh, and great passive aggressive address Clarity Gaming. "If you don't support us because of Mewby, then you never supported us." Bullshit. What if ROOT or Complexity had said that when they had Destiny on their rosters? A guy who has done nothing but shown how douchey he can be doesn't deserve my support, and I don't appreciate his team telling me I have to if I'm a true fan.
I mean, the guy doesn't want to show his face. Doesn't that throw up enough red flags?

Here's a screenshot I took after he made a number of rude remarks following his defeat in a later /vg/ tournament: + Show Spoiler +
, this was followed by him being extremely offensive/racist every time we played on ladder or in subsequent tournaments.
Not sure how I can prove his ID was Foxer at the time but I'm sure anyone who knew him back then can confirm this for me.
Thanks, Mike
Foxer used to be his ID though and that character code belongs to him. I don't get it though, you asked the guy for proof such a screenshot, and he provided one. Now you're discrediting it?
Also calling someone the N word is not simply "immature" it's downright racist and brings out your true colors. There's a reason why EG had to get orb go. I'm sorry but if a respectable organization such as EG knows when it's time to cut the rope because of a racist past then I would think smaller organizations like CG would follow. I'm sure orb was also nothing other than earnest in his ways when he joined EG, but when racist remarks are part of your past, that's just too much baggage for even someone like EG to carry.
Funny thing is now a lot more poeple know who Mewbie is. He's getting more attention and will be a more popular player because of this. People will want to see how he's matured and will be interested in him. It makes for a story, and hey, that's what we're all about, right :D
Anyways good luck to Clarity. I hope you crack the whip on these young nerds and turn them in to truly sick, disciplined starcraft players.

Seriously? 2013 and we're still at "Nigger is a racist word"? Trying to justify what happened to orb is pathetic, it was the result of unfair persecution by Reddit. Orb was doing nothing but helping the community with his work at EG and a bunch of people got him fired for it. Not surprised he's not streaming anymore, I wouldn't want to be part of a community this toxic either.
You people with your delusional "hurr need to be PC to bring in sponsors" mindset will eventually kill this community for good.

Orb isn't streaming anymore? That's a shame. Then again, if he's too immature not to rage online or publically than he doesn't deserve a career in broadcasting or public speaking, period.
I feel sorry for nerds that think the real world should lower itself to meet the non-existent social standards of Reddit. Sad.

Please don't do the whole "Omg you are so PC"-rant. It's a useless argument lazy people bring out when they have nothing useful to add to a discussion.
If you are not offended by racial slurs, good for you. A lot of people are, however, and letting community members who use them go around pissing people off for no good reason without being criticized just leads to a community where less people will be comfortable in a lot of situations.
That doesn't mean that I think it's a good idea to start a witch hunt for anyone who ever says something stupid, obviously, but it's at least something that can be adressed and criticized.

Yes, in the year 2013, he "n word" is a racist word. Maybe if we were still in the 1950's your argument would suffice, but sadly we aren't. What's going to kill this community and scene is allowing people to parade around saying racist stuff. No sponsor is going to want their brand associated with people like that, even if what they said was in the past, Orb + EG is proof of that. Welcome to the real world.

kill yourself (◡‿◡✿)
My favorite part of "racism discussions" is when people automatically assume the other person is white, becoming a racist themselves.
I worked with Elige, Badcop and Bails before. All of them are awesome people and great players. I had a lot of fun watching them in the recent the WCS NA qualifiers, where they all got within a few series of qualifying. Be good to them Winter. Academies are great opportunities for up and comers to interact with the best. Is there going to be any interaction between them and the main team? I know these guys are probably too young, but will any move or visit the team house? Clarity has been working very well behind the scenes, its only a matter of time before one of their players makes a breakthrough. Good luck Clarity!

You people with your delusional "hurr need to be PC to bring in sponsors" mindset will eventually kill this community for good.
my favorite part of racism discussions are white people who try and say minorities shouldn't find slurs racist
kill yourself (◡‿◡✿)
My favorite part of "racism discussions" is when people automatically assume the other person is white, becoming a racist themselves.

Thanks Reboot! I will certainly continue to do my best. We're very proud to have the lot of them, they're all amazing players and good people (Yes, even Mewbert. Maybe he wasn't a year ago, but he is now).
There is plenty of crossover between the Academy and the A team, and there will also be opportunities to get them into the house. We have a caster/content producer moving into the house in the next few days so we'll finally be able to get some real content produced and published directly from the team house. It should make for a very productive summer going forward.
At this point, the entire Clarity team seems great, I've seen several of them stream before and they are cool, but I'm not sold about Mewby here. He has a bad past, not just that, he has blown up at people and there is evidence to prove it. He has asked for forgiveness, but I don't see any repenting being done just yet. I'm really just not sold on the dude, though my opinion matters fairly little. That is what the situation seems like atm.

Well, I think your opinion matters more than others because you clearly are very capable of basic logic and reasoning. I appreciate the kind words about Clarity. I understand your reservations about Mewby. They are warranted, we won't argue with that. But he has made a public apology, and will continue to show the community that he has changed.

In terms of what? The Academy team? No, it's a brand new roster. Some of the players on the Academy team have individual achievements.
As an overall brand? No, but we're only 7 months old. Our Pro players have quite a few Achievements. We currently have 2 players in the WCS Premier league. Killer (formerly of Dignitas) is in WCS NA, and one of our Korean players - Shuttle, is in WCS EU premier division. We also house the Korean Zerg jookTo (formerly of oGS) who was a former Code S player. Our most recent recruit to our A team is Sterling, a Terran player who was A- rank in BW Iccup, a WCG Finalist, and WCS finalists in the finals years of NA BW.
So, there you have a few examples of achievements.

Oh yeah? Do you have any proof of this? A replay, a screen shot, anything? I doubt it or you probably would have posted it.
But if you do have proof, by all means share.

I'm willing to give you guys a shot, because your team is frankly amazing. If he turns around under your banner, I'll consider it not just a success, but a turning point in the NA scene (mostly because that kind of thing has never happened). Thank you for the kind words haha, I'll be watching you guys to see your future successes.
I wonder why he waited until AFTER he had something to gain, before he apologized. Couldnt be because he was only going to get paid/support if he did so.
Wish the scene wouldnt support such disgusting characters.

Best of luck to the other 8 players tho. Hope to see you all in big tournaments, especially the young guns. Really cool to see younger people who are understanding and getting the game at an early age, with support we might see a surge in American talent.
Sorry that all of your names are tainted by being alongside Mewberts.

You can't be serious. That's not what happened at all.
Someone uncovered screenshots of orb saying the word and being a BM asshole on his stream. EG asked him about it. Orb flat-out lied to Alex and the rest of the EG management and said it wasn't him, and his stupid lie was uncovered almost immediately.
He was fired for lying to his boss. Not for saying a racial slur.
And yes, "nigger" *is* a racist word. Just 'cause you don't care about using it doesn't make it good or okay to throw around.

Who said anything about a free pass? He's already been criticized and pitchforked against, and he's well aware of how the community is responding to him. He's obviously on a difficult road ahead of him where he has to work twice as hard to gain approval from people who bash on him, so no, it's not a "free pass." Clarity's also probably going to keep him under close watch.
It's not really helping when people throw slurs and names at one person, despite what they did. If you don't like someone, just ignore them. You've mentioned that you think the other pickups are cool; so why not just support them instead?
Watching the finals was very entertaining--it'll be interesting to follow these players in the future. congrats to you guys ^_^
Good on Clarity to pick up some up and coming youngsters, as it is probably the best time to instill the disipline and proper ettiquite that they will need later.
Also great to see a newer team making some big strides.
ps: Who cares about months old past minor actions which were not grossly serious in the first place. So he was a bit bad mannered. Whoopy do.
never heard of any of these players but real hoping they do well good to see some young talent in there learning the ropes and hopefully training hard and doing some good things.
