Hello TeamLiquid! I am here to announce the release of the new Team oGaming! This involves the new logo you see above, as well as this new roster and a new website that should be released in a week or two!
If you haven't heard of oGaming before, we started out in 2003 as a Brood War team, and had players from around the globe with the tag oG). In StarCraft 2 we returned after a 3 year hiatus, and came back with a few of our original members. If you wish to learn more about us from the dawn of our SC2 team, head over to our Liquipedia page.
Our first leave from our Professional roster had Kevin "FlatLine" Van one of the more analytical guys on the roster leaving the team. With him. Phil "ScrubbleS" Cortinas also had left, and the two went off to look for another team together. Lastly, our good friend imbaASfuts had also left the team, going to Team .SCA in search of new opportunities. We wish them all best of luck in their endeavors.
We have taken in quite a few new players, because a few went inactive or just can't dedicate as much time to the game. Early May, American Terran player Jesse "RuFF" Hall had joined the ranks of oGaming. RuFF does consistently well in MLG Open Brackets as well as doing very well in local LANs. You can find his stream over on TwitchTV. Protoss player Richard "Eifer" Gayler joined the ranks as well. He was on 4NOT before the Quantic merger, and is a very skilled player with achievements such as getting to Round 2 of the group play in the MLG 2012 Summer Championships.
We also had 3 more acquisitions in the form of Zerg players from across the globe. We had Romanian Zerg player Andrei "DeathAngel" Nodea join the Pro Team roster. Also joining him as Zerg recruits are the British Paul "JonnyREcco" Whyte (formerly of Team Dignitas) and the Korean Hyun "DeParture" Sung Min (formerly of Fnatic). These 3 have many notable achievements in their respective regions such as a 3rd place finish for DeathAngel at IeSF 2011, a Ro8 finish in TSL4 for JREcco and a 2nd place finish in the Auction All-Kill OSL non-KeSPa Preliminaries for DeParture.

gratz paul is a sick pickup really talented zerg
|
jonnyrecco best uk zerg wish him and the team all the best! good luck
|
Good pick up! jrecco is really really good player! grtz
|
wow! nice! good to see good players finding a good team!
|
|
Thought Ruff retired. Hm.
|
wow, those are some pretty significant pickups, hope you can afford them! Didn't know DeParture was still playing competitively, I haven't seen him play a qualifier in ages. JonnyREcco is a pretty big talent, I thought Fnatic was somewhat interested in picking him up, I guess I was wrong, or you made a better offer ^^ DeathAngel got pretty close to qualifying for EU Challenger so he's quite a good pickup as well.

Once upon a time DA was 1 match away from qualifying for code A too. Lost 0-2 to Center once and another Korean terran the other time IIRC

Yeaaah, hard to take a team seriously when it has DeathAngel in it.
|
For all the DeathAngel comments i get what people are saying but he deserves a second chance a lot of players got that second chance why deathangel cant idk.
|
I think the team will have to carefully consider whether or not the skill of Deathangel is worth the anti-fans that come with him. A lot of people aren't going to be so quick to forgive the whole Veralynn thing.

Not saying he doesn't "deserve" a second chance, but people shouldn't forget hence the friendly reminder.

He was really underrated, although it certainly doesn't help that he suffered the trope of "talented but not yet accomplished foreign pro waiting to break out" etc. Hopefully he'll perform well and not cause any more issues.
I'm a bit more interested in seeing DeParture play though, and how he fares against foreigners.
|
oh damn nice.. except death angel of course, but meh, TT1 used to be a known hacker but look at him now, maybe we can give DeathAngel another chance
|
|
Grats to JR!
I rather Deathangel over RuFF anyday. That person is possibly the most skilled BM all in player since Believe.

Good luck with the new team but signing DeathAngel either shows no knowlege of his fraud history or at least a dont-care-attitude in the management.
|
I still remember when JRecco popped up into the scene and was one of the most up-and-coming Zerg rising talent. He looked top Korean caliber and suddenly he looked like another foreigner, and I never really understood why Looking forward to sick performances from him once again.
|
PS: According to Liquipedia Traveller retired from SC2 to focus on Dota 2?

Best of luck, guys... although I liked the old logo more, honestly!

poor infrastructure and not much practice partners available for him on dignitas, not a whole lot of competitions in his region to play against korean caliber players (during that time period), fell in love with broodlord/infestors a little too much

Or it shows an "everyone deserves a second chance" attitude by the management, I don't see anything wrong with that. I think a team looking to improve should have a positive attitude rather than a negative one.

Picking up Deathangel is a pretty desperate move. Cant see that working out advantageously.

Yeah, but this was literally 6 months ago at most, he scammed people out of money and actually really did hurt the scene. Far worse than someone just maphacking on ladder (which is also fucking terrible). Gotta understand why people might dislike the fact that you've picked him up despite his being a blight on the scene.
|
Let's go Eifer!!! !!! :D <3 grats on the pickup
|
So Deathangel is over all forgiven now?
|
is that legit deathangel? ??????
|
jonnyrecco and deathangel, awesome team LOL i dont know whats wrong with some teams nowadays why not invite them to the quantic dota2 team?
|
If Dragon and TT1 can be allowed to join teams without comments why shouldn't DeathAngel?
|
Huh, I had thought Eifer wasn't trying to be competitive anymore, guess I was wrong.
Grats on the pickups, looks pretty good!

I understand entirely, but what better way to redeem yourself than starting fresh with a "young" team and trying to right what was wronged. I have to believe that if he didn't care about what happened that he wouldn't have returned to the scene. I think he is trying to do the right thing, but only time will tell.

They've been commented plenty on lol. Deathangel did far worse than simply maphacking, he scammed people out of money and this incident was also much closer in recent memory (mid 2012) than both TT1 and Dragon (2008, during BW and 2010 respectively).

Jesus get over the veralynn/deathangel already... I think it's ridicoulus how unforgiving this community is, he didn't make a massive crime, sorry. If he does it again, it's a pattern and he shouldn't be allowed, but doing something once shouldn't be bannable for life. You guys seriously think it's reasonable with the "one strike and you're out" attitude?
I tried maphacking in wc3 for maybe 10-20 games or so (even faced Grubby before he got famous and lost 0-2!!), back in RoC. Blizzard found it and i got temp banned. That was in 2002, should i be allowed to ever play competetively (if i had the skill) or has that cursed my entire e-sport career?
I obviously hate cheating and would never do it today, but people do things they regret, and why not give him a last chance? With your attitude/mindset Artosis wouldn't be a caster, he would be banned from e-sports. I find it sad and im appalled at how eager people are to judge and cast out people. Just hoping you don't have this attitude in real life.

I think you should be allowed to compete and move on. But you reap what you sow. If you now have an overly negative stigma following you then too bad. The community will eventually lighten up on him probably, but the fact that people are still upset is what it is, a natural order of things.

Thank you for bringing this up We did expect there to be some anger from the community with us acquiring DeathAngel. But rest assured that we did discuss this internally at length, and were well aware of his recent scandal with VeraLynn. We believe that Andrei was in the wrong, and do not in any way condone his actions. However we do believe that he deserves another chance to redeem himself, and are prepared to offer him a life line.

Is RuFF the same player that made the top 10 move of all time or something in sc/bw with the clever wall off in lost temple against TapotoKopele ?

Eifer hellz yeah! Glad he made it on a team, he's so good!

You guys need to put the death angel bashing to rest. What happened happened. Its time to move on. on that note i am so glad to call Team Ogaming home! There are some great pick ups and i can't wait to practice with them and learn from these high level players! oGFighting!

Didn't MajOr also smurf in a SEA tournament that he was expressly not allowed to compete in?
Your spite will fortunately not change the fact that he was given a second chance, no matter how big of a deal you make of this.
I also love how you're trying to spread misinformation by using language like "cheated" as if the games he played were illegitimate.

can I make a bad analogy/ask a bad analogy question?
if a KR pro got caught playing for an NA pro in some minor tournaments or showmatches with some cheap change/hardware on the line, how much of a fuck would we give?

Whatever drama would come with that would probably pass in a handful of days. But you see Waxangel, realizing the futility and irrelevance of squabbling over petty events in the past would imply some semblance of intellectual effort put into one's post, and it seems like some posters aren't willing to bother. ._.

He must be referring to http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/ESET_UK_Masters_2013/Season_1 I guess, which was a couple of months ago, but JREcco only got Top 8.
Looking at Aligulac, which is a more complete database than TLPD or Liquipedia when it comes to tournaments and games, I really can't see anything he's actually won recently, not even an online tournament. :/

Honestly DA hasn't done anything to make me think he has any remorse.
I'm not going to be actively negative against this team but picking up DA means I am not going to support it in anyway or watch anything the team or its player's are part of

This has me curious now, what would you consider to be "actively negative" KelsierSC? Would you DDOS our streamers? Or maybe spam our forums? Infiltrate our b.net channel disguised as someone else and then when the time was right, you'd execute your evil plan? I know, I know, you'd find out where we live and punch us in the face right?

Honestly someone who is so petty and pathetic as to be bothered by a progaming team that they probably never heard of signing a player that they don't like (even though they don't know him very well) doesn't deserve your attention.
I mean seriously, how empty and devoid of substance must someone's life be for him to become distraught by something like this? How does this affect you in any way, shape or form Kelsier?

There's no "redeeming" when it's about frauding the community. Hell, even hackers, something that is less impactful, just completely screw up the trust people have in them.

Not to get take away from the DeathAngel bashing which I believe is completely warranted and oGaming deserves to be shamed for picking him up, but this roster is a very odd mix of lower tier players and smaller names.
DeParture being a benchwarmer Korean player living in Canada now. KurOra, a Japanese player and an old member of a Korean clan who posts thousands of tweets and hardly plays anymore. Ruff, who's an older cheesier American player with a reputation for cheesy play. JohnnyREcho who has a lot of stigma being a British "patchzerg" despite showing he still has chops in HOTS.
I just don't know what oGaming wants from their players or what they plan to do with them. Do they have some goal or are they just gathering as many names as they can?

While it is just a thread about their roster, I don't think your question of what they want from their players makes any sense. Clearly they want to become a better team and you'd be an idiot to think they haven't accomplished this, even if in the slightest, by picking up some semi-accomplished players. It's clear they might not have done a thorough background check, or cared about the pasts of certain players, but you can't deny its a serious upgrade from what they had before.
To ask about goals and plans is stupid, and of course they are gathering names, that's what teams do.
|
With the exception of JohnnyREcho, all of these players are older and are severely limited on their ability to improve and perform due to school or lack of interest.
What are they actually going to do with these guys? Are they just going to treat them like Koreans on NA teams in the past and just throw money at different corners of the globe until the players leaves or the team disbands?

Not as unnecessary as people who don't know how to move on from ultimately irrelevant events in the past, and more thought-provoking than that circle-jerk, for sure....
Gamegene brings up a fair point.

Fact - If Team oGaming picking up DA was really that upsetting, shameful, disgusting, disgraceful, etc. it would be the top post in r/starcraft right now where they especially love eSports drama. It's not.
The masses have spoken, move along.

The clan name sound really disturbing, it's the same name as the multigaming french website and structure Ogaming.TV, which are non other than the organisator of Iron Squid ! (and Tales of the Lane on League of legend). It's also known as Alt Tab Productions or Pomf & Thud crew ^^ It's a french webTV up all evening 7/7 on all the best video games with some thousands viewers every days. They already hosted english show with Soe too in Paris.
