Those are some stacked groups. Only 2 groups per week though, I like that it gets streched thinner, not 4 days a week content every time.
(Group F June 10th, someone should fix that)
|
Mvp got an easy group, lucky him. Must be nice to be #1 seed.

B hardest with 2 Koreans + Stephano D is also pretty stacked, a Korean, one of the best Europeans (according to season1), a European online monster (two allkills in Acer Teamstory Cup vs Korean teams) and a decend European
edit: and yes, C also stacked, dont know why I missed that the first time
|
Nice groups, but why Derelict Watcher... :-/
|
ToD gonna 2-0 his group and cast them at the same time.
|
G>C>B>D>E>H>A,F imo
A and F just seem to have 3 obvious players to advance (Lucifron, Naniwa, Mvp)
|
Grouå C is so stacked! Two of the best europeens, one decling korean and one good korean. Have no idea who will make it out, but rooting for TLO and Mana :D

MMA has been looking pretty good after he lost in WCS EU PL. I think he will do better this season.
|
C and G are very hard. H seems to be the easiest. I love the fact that it will be less rushed than Season 1 but I really hope everything will be offline.
Good draw for Dayshi, harder for ForGG, beginning against a VortiX in holidays is pretty hard. And Stephano vs Zerg is always something which scares me.
|
I think there's a very good chance that top 5 from EU will be completely different this time save for Mvp. I can see Stephano, TLO and Dimaga dropping out in ro32.
|
Wow these groups are sick, EU has so many sick players :O
|
i feel so sorry for Bunny if he ends up having to play vs ForGG
|
Lol, ForGG vs Bunny again! Will we see more than 300 workers killed this time around?

Agreed about C and G, but H isn't easy for the players in it! I think any two might advance from that group so it will be scrappy regardless :D
Edit: I also feel like elfi might beat Mvp in the first match. Of course Mvp will get out of the group and elfi might not, but I think that being the first game being played and elfi being elfi...

Wow, groups B and C sooo difficult.

Has ToD been doing that well lately? I just know that TitaN and SortOf have both gotten far in big Euro tournaments before so it doesn't seem like they are at all behind him in skill level unless he's been training really hard!
Edit: I thought sLivko was in that group, being Russian like Happy... Happy probably least likely to get out of that group

Lucifron and 2 zergs.. man I hope naniwa pulls through instead of going tilt lol.

wow that was quick. I called it last time, but MVP will win again :p
A: MVP/Beasty
B: Stephano/MC
C: MMA / TLO
D: DIMAGA (fuck yeah!) / Dayshi
E: Thorzain/Ret
F: Lucy/Naniwa
G: ForGG / Bunny
H: Happy/ Sortof

hmm only 2 Germans. Bad year for Germany ; (

A and E are at about the same level as the weaker two groups imo. A only has Mvp and then everyone is very beatable. D is underrated for me, it's pretty damn scary considering Dayshi's shape lately and Dimaga's tendency to perform well offline. I feel like HasuObs has also done relatively well for himself recently (I thought his early HotS results were not that good at all) and Finale is a very solid run-of-the-mill Korean although he'll probably play with lag once again.
And H really is not thaaat easy, if you compare them to A, Mvp is better than ToD, but I'd say Happy>Beasty, SortOf>Tefel and TitaN>elfi, also ToD>elfi if you want to switch that.
@juicyjames: uzer is teamless afaik and there's no teamless logo in your team listings, you sure you didn't confuse him with Fuzer, because Fuzer is the one who just rejoined Menace iirc

These groups have come out really nicely...
The only easy group is MVP; though there will still be a scrap for second place there. Excited for this!
|
I'm really excited for wcs eu. But all my favourite players have such hard groups.

For some unexplainable reason I feel more excited about this tournament than WCS Korea.
|
Group G is group of death imo. Only group with 3 killer players. Group B probably has the most depth/is the toss up group. I'm not really jumping all over group C like most people.
|
Looking forward to this season, a lot more Korean's and competition, but also a more seasoned and filtered pool of EU participants. Bring it on!
|
Is the ro32 still online?
|
Nice group for Mvp.
I chose Group A because in my opinion, any group with Mvp in it is instantly a Group of Death.
|
The groups with Nani Lucifron and Bly is the group of death. At least if you re Naniwa. Lucifron and Bly are beasts vs Protoss. + uzer has shown great play in the Challenger League. If Nani manages to qualify I think he can win it all.

B C and G are all very interesting.
|
|
I really feel the group D is full of talent, I've seen Dayshi perform for too long of a time, he's kind of the new Lucifron from when he returned into the scene (around DH Valencia) and Finale had a very good performance back in the EG team leagues playing only online, he has been good for a long time, reached code S a couple of time I think, if he can play live he is going to be tough.
Otherwise, according to recent forms, I'm feeling group G, E and H as some of the hardest to predict and probably the more interesting. Too many players from group B and C have been out of form lately though they could make a comeback. But I feel like group A and F have too big disparities in level
|
C and G will be interesting. The only groups where I feel anyone can make it through. B is probably next in line, but the rest have clear favourites.

He also ended up in 8th spot I believe in WCS EU. I'm not really a fan of his, but he's the #1 favourite out of that group.

Groups look pretty strong and well contested! Which is a good thing. Moving forward I think WCS is helping a lot in improving the competitiveness of EU. So maaaaaybe this whole thing might work out after all

loving this already!
I hope they can get apollo to cast again

You're right about group A vs H but I don't know, Mvp's name by himself makes the group harder for me. :D
About group D, yes Dayshi is an absolute beast right now, yes DIMAGA is always strong offline but I don't find HasuObs and finale particularly scary. OK finale is a Protoss from MVP but he didn't qualify easily for the Challenger League and even in Challenger he only finished 2nd in a group with Bunny, KrasS and Harstem. It's very possible that Dayshi finishes first in this group. I hope so. :p

Sort of happy for Tod. He might have a chance

Group C,D,G is looking good!

Poor Grubby. He always gets tough groups for his competitions.

Good luck to elfi and Welmu. Give us upsets.

On the other hand i think tefel and uzer can do it! I belive!

It tells something that season 1 grandfinals had only 50 000 viewer. But WCS eu had over 120 000 :D. I dont know how big (orsmall) GSL numbers were.

For GSL, twitch was at 50k and afreeca was reportedly at 150k. Add gomplayer views plus OGN's Korean TV viewers.
So no, WCS EU was not the most popular regional WCS.
Edit: Actually those numbers might be for the season 1 finals, I forget which one it was. I think they were for GSL finals though. I don't remember reading anything about Season 1 finals numbers, since most of it is from korean TV.

Oh man it will be even harder vs the koreans this season! I just hope we have a foreigner in the finals again

Some very nice Groups. I think B and G are my favorites. Will be a good season of premier league :D

I love how Aligulac prediction can be so tricky : Group D : Chance of DIMAGA qualifying : 25% Group E : Chance of BabyKnight qualifying : 26% DIMAGA got the 3/4th place last season and BabyKnight was in RO8 and both should have a higher rate.
Anyway, there is no easy group, each one is very tough and it is very difficult to find which will advance.

Glad no group is that stacked, although group C is pretty bad.

Aligulac is unswayed by personal opinion, that's why it seems odd to you.

Grand finals were just generally pretty unhyped because we had just had GSL a week before and it didn't feel like a proper tournament.

HasuObs 2:0 Finale / duck last WCS... He will win this time too.
|
Btw anyone has the feeling this is too often? I mean the last wcs just ended not even a week ago and we have done groups for next one... At this rate everyone will stop watching starcraft like we did mid 2011 when you had major tournament each weekend.

Bly has to be pissed: Last season in a group with Luci and Happy, who both 4-0ed their ro16; then he went 6-1 in Challenger league and now he is in a goup with Luci and Naniwa.

Group Es a bit stacked xD can't pick a winner in that atm. Well i guess Group C is up in the air too. MMA you don't know what you get from him anymore, TLO is in good form vs Z and T. Then you have TAILs who is awesome and round it off with Mana, and if Mana plays well you have a pretty strong group

I agree, it's definitely too often I feel.

Oh shit, TLO gotta work his ass off again. But he´ll manage.
Interested to see if Naniwa will shake Lucifron´s hand, after being crushed...

...how does that algorithm work?... not meaning to fanboy because he's danish, but Babyknight took out Stephano, Grubby and NaNiWa last season... how can the chances of his group be: Welmu 63.44% Ret 59.86% ThorZaIN 49.97% BabyKnight 26.73%

Interestingly enough, I have (almost) no doubt that TLO will somehow claw his way out of the group, probably even as 1st, only to stumble at a later point. He's a european version of Bomber. Can't wait for the day he proves me wrong though :D

Agree with you dude. I dont know how its possible to give Welmu 63% (I realize that he was practicing very hard lately), but BabyKnight had a fantastic run during the first season. I would give him about 50% chances easily.

yeah I was wondering that too. Why exactly has Ret(I know he is liquid.. ) a higher chance than BK. As far as I remember BK had recently much better results then Welmu or Ret...?

I wonder when challenger league qualifier will take place. I really hope you let mouz heromarine participate. Theres an age restriction that you have to be 16 and heromarine turns 16 on the 4th of july. Would be really bad to not let him participate because of +- 1-2 weeks

I can only assume that 79% don't realize how good Bunny is and think that group G isn't the group of death because of him, well you're wrong
B: MC has not had any results in hots, Stephano is still great but not as great as he once was, Shuttle? and Slivko has a lot to prove in hots as well.
C: MMA and Mana have performed worse in hots then they did in wol so for me TLO is the lone stand out in that group which is why I find that 55% think it's the group of death, shocking.

Since the players are tied to the region in which they played in season 1 Blizzard cant region lock it for season 2. We will have to wait for next year to see what happens in that regard.

WCS EU has honestly become the league of Fan Favorites! :D
