Format is simples!
Online: Open cup -> Top 4 progress to qualifier Qualifier = Top 4 from Open + 12 from regional WCS Points -> Top 2 qualify for event (with hotel/flight paid)
Event: Open bracket = Two 8 player double elim brackets -> Top 2 from each qualify for event Groupstage = 8 qualified + 4 open bracket + 4 from WCS points (global) -> Dual tournament like WCS/GSL Playoffs = 8 player single elimination
Has any WCS event not being Tier 1?
Edit: Disregard that, HSC VII is.
Good luck guys, I wish you good luck
A little off topic, but do has it been announced what games IEM will be running this year? Just SC2 and LoL again?
Only 16 players for the open bracket? How do you decide the players then?
I like how the sc2 is starting to have a structure. WCS was badly needed
I think the qualifying process is too complicated if i have to read it thrice and still be confused.

This seems a lot smaller than past IEM events, max 16 players in the open bracket and 16 players total in the main tournament? I guess smaller isn't always a bad thing, we'll see how it turns out.
For the main tournament, there will only be 4 invites total, and using the WCS ranking? I quite like that, not nearly as much emphasis on invites as some other tournaments.
edit: seems like the " WCS applicants " have their own qualifier, so the tournament is 0 invites total?
I'm a fan in Shanghai,China. But I don't know where the tournament hosts and how can I buy the ticket...Who can tell me?

Is that so? I remember IM players being invited to cologne last year, they certainly didn't qualify.
