No real reason given besides everyone saying nice things about another.
Only a speculation: It was kind of weired in having Illusion without internet for some days during a lot of team league matches; maybe that tipped things against him. As I said, just a speculation. His results were not fantastic either.
I liked him on mouz, sad it did not work out.
EDIT: From Illusion: Chris Lee @mouzIllusion 3m my time with mouz comes to an unexpected end today, was a good adventure but it wasnt the place where I could succeed. teamless for now

He is not at the same skill level of the other team members. mouz wants to be the best. Now they started to act like a team with a clear goal.

Good luck to him, I guess. That was a short relationship.

I think the timezone might have played some role in this. He was a good pickup. Goodluck to him!
And yeah, eg is most likely to pick him up or even liquid.

i thought it was an odd choice to pick up an NA player in the first place when the rest of their roster is pretty much EU. it sucks that they took 5 months to realize the same.. good luck finding a new team illusion
|
Didn't the same thing happen to Protosser?
Just not putting in the results so they terminated his contract.
|
Same happened to morrow iirc. Got kicked and replaced by protosser.. never liked that move! Anyways, mouz got a really well balanced and strong team atm.
|
This makes sense, I never really understood why they signed him in the first place. Maybe they can pick up an ex-empire terran.

There isn't ofc, but renewal period generally runs around the August-September months for a majority of SC2 players, especially those on kespa teams.

Not renewing contract /=/ kicking from team, terminating contract
they should pick up starbuck, seems like hes a fun and and promising talent.

EG or Liquid wont go ahead and pick up a sub-par resulting terran. They picked up Xeno because he was practically free and shows promise. Illusion has been around forever and while being a good terran, not so much result terran.
back to quantic most likely.
|
Thats sad. I really hope Illusion finds a team!

He wasn't getting much done outside of ATC anyway, and for a team that's been setting itself up as the cream of the crop in Europe it's just not a great match

Looks like he got a 6month contract and it ran out. Made no sense at all why Mouz signed him in the first place.

Hm this is unexpected, but I guess they want to focus on Europe. I am sure Illusion will be fine though. Good luck!

Doesn't sound like the complete truth. Oh well, we will probably know more sooner or later.
|
Yeah, their statements feel like their basically saying they want to focus on European players. Also his results were kinda lackluster in the last months (e.g. drop out of WCS completely after being in Challenger).
Illusion is still one of the top players in NA, one of the big five (EG, Quantic, Clarity, ROOT and complexity) will take him.
I hope mousesports picks up one of the promising German terrans (kauP, TrOn, KrasS) or Bunny. (pick up Bunny mouz. Do it. PICK HIM UP GODDAMNIT)
|
gl to both illusion and mouz! any1 need a top NA terran? oo?

i see illusion as more of an american / NA player. Mouz is European based so it makes sense that he will likely join an NA team. Best of luck to him Maybe he will be back on Quantic again.
|
From Illusion; also ad it to the OP: Chris Lee @mouzIllusion 3m my time with mouz comes to an unexpected end today, was a good adventure but it wasnt the place where I could succeed. teamless for now

When he got picked up I thought it was kinda weird, he was their only NA player right? I'm sure the time difference made some stuff hard. GL though, illusion.
|
Illusion was in Mousesports for such a short time then didn't update his player photo ID, he's still wearing his old Quantic jersey.
|
The big reason they're mentioning seems to be because they want to focus on European players.
From the press release:
We've decided to part ways with the North American StarCraft II player Chris "Illusion" Lee with immediate effect. The team will now concentrate on the European region in the future, especially with the recruitment of LucifroN and VortiX a couple of weeks ago.
Also:
mousesports StarCraft II Head Coordinator Markus "mouz MaX" Kemper has stated, that the focus of the team is to represent the best European StarCraft II players, supporting them in their efforts to mess with the best players in the world...

This sounds more and more like a rug pulling

He hasn't been performing over the top like he was before, and mouz got a nice pickup with the Duran brothers, but I wouldn't be so quick to say he's less valuable than HeroMarine and hOpe.
Still, mouz didn't really help illusion develop much as a player. I think this move is better for him than it is for mouz.

Well, he was picked up at a time when good foreign Terrans were extremely scarce, and he was one of the most promising talents, but now that situation has changed radically, and mouz even has the best foreigner Terran on their roster. Considering the time zone differences, the fact that he dropped out of WCS America despite having an easy challenger group and knowing that it will be really hard to qualify again, and the fact that there are other Terrans which are also pretty good but probably cheaper.
I'm sure the top US teams will snatch him up though.

I disagree with the statement that Illusion was at any point in time anywhere as good or valuable as MaNa or HasuObs. Mouz never held back from signing North Americans in Brood War, Dota 2 etc. It's just that Europeans suit them better because they are European...closer to the sponsors, closer to the team HQ, closer to the events they want to be at...
I agree that this move is good for him though in the long run. If he joins a team with an NA focus, he can go to more events etc, rather than be overshadowed by mouz's big four.

I'm curious how exactly you think a foreigner team 'develops' a player besides providing financial assistance to keep the player focused on SC2. As far as I'm concerned, mouz was probably having budget issues and needed to cut the dead weight. Illusion hasn't gotten any better in the last year or two and his poor showing at MLG didn't help his case.

I think this was a simple business decision by Mous.
They likely signed Vortix and Lucifron to fairly lucrative contracts. Illusion likely cost them more than most of the other players on their roster in terms of overhead simply because he was so much further away than any of their other players. Illusion was also likely getting a paid something. Illusion's results were okay but not spectacular. So cutting him to save some money likely makes a ton of sense budget wise.
I would say that before the Duran brothers were picked up he was easily the 3rd best player on Mous (behind Mana and Hasu and definitely ahead of Hope and HeroMarine don't just look at the Aligulac stats look at the competition they faced and it is pretty obvious). Now that the Duran brothers are on Mous he really doesn't fit.
As for his future that should be interesting. Root has stated that they are not looking for more players (they have a hude roster already), I can't see EG signing him after they already signed Xenocider, Acer and Axiom are looking for players but they seem more like teams that like the high end foreigners and Koreans. Maybe Quantic,Complexity or xMi? Should be interesting.

I guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I've watched them both play quite a bit and I have the exact opposite impression. Too me it is fairly obvious that Illusion is currently the better player. Who knows HeroMarine is young and he might surpass Illusion in the future but right now I just don't see it.

HeroMarine would beat him 9 out of 10 times. He isn't even a full time gamer.

Once again I disagree. But that is just my opinion. As I said I believe Illusion is currently the better player. I also believe the fact that Mous used him as an ace in the ATC rather than HeroMarine or Hope leads me to believe that they think Illusion is a better player currently as well.
|
He likely wanted more money, or Mouz didn't want to pay him anymore. Does hurt the mouz a bit. I wonder if they will go after a player like Select, he was on Dignatas, so he isn't a stranger to European teams.
|
Hmm, that's too bad. Apparently they're wanting to focus more on their European players. I hope this pushes Illusion to focus more and buckle down so that he can maximize his potential.

Illusion not getting results in a 4 month period is probably not the reason that he left/was let go. It was more likely location/travel.
I doubt Illusion will have issues finding a team, either. He's one of the better foreign Terrans.

yeah lucifron, hasuobs, and vortix are def. not top tier EU players.

To be fair, Mouz sorta came outta nowhere after picking up Duran Duran. Now all of a sudden they're a top tier team, like Slacer.
I, for one, am super stoked that Mouz is awesome now because they've been around for so long. Now I just hope 4Kings and TSG start SC2 teams ^_^

That is quite surprinsing, Mouz/Liquid/Mill/Acer are the best EU-teams and if you reduce it on the foreign lignup, Mouz is the best team in the world.

Out of nowhere is a bit over the top, they defeated Quantic, Axiom and Root, before Duran Duran got hired. But yes, the signing of those two really brought back the tradition of the big 4 in Mouz (MaNa, HasuObs, Morrow Vortix, ThorZaIN LucifroN)

Clear money cut move, and good one they got atm best foreign T(Lucifron) proly best upcoming foreign T(Heromarine),One of best foreign Z(Vortix) after Naniwa proly 2nd best toss(Mana) plus Hasuobs(id rank him Top 5 EU toss ish hard to tell tbh) and hope(still didnt break out aside some nice kills in ATC).Id say on paper its hands down best foreign only team. They should just focus on keeping players they got happy, training hard and send them to events they can attend..

I would like to see him on an american team. Like Root or EG.

I love Scarlett on Slacer, but if Mouz somehow picked her up that'd be incredible. Really vicious teamleague lineup, especially if they added another top Terran.

Sad to hear. I think Illusion has been an up and comer for a while. Considering how young he is, I would only expect better results.
Best of luck to him in finding a new team.

So yes, they did kind of come out of nowhere after recruiting the brothers.

Wading through all the negativity and speculation from this thread I have to say Illusion’s place on Mouz always did seem a little off. Sure a foreigner team doesn’t have to just stick with players from their region. Both EG and Liquid (NA and EU teams) have (or have had at some point in time) a healthy mix of European and American (and of course Korean) players on their roster. Mouz have always been very Euro-centric though, the same way Empire has always been very Russia/Eastern Euro-centric.
Mouz have suffered a pretty bad fall from grace, going from one of the true contenders of best foreigner team in 2011 to not even been worth a footnote in 2012. They’ve recently received a shot in the arm and look to be eager to reclaim their days of past glory. I think it’s a real shame there was no place for Illusion on this new campaign, but at the same time it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise.

Hasu 4-0´ed his challenger group (including Nani), won his Premier group over Dayhsi, Dimaga and duckdeok (who he also defeated 2-0 in challenger league), is 3-0 in SC2L over TLO and MMA, leads the EPS rankings. He is without a doubt a top tier foreigner, he just attends not enough premier tournaments to show that.

So yes, they did kind of come out of nowhere after recruiting the brothers. Ah, the "what has XYZ done for me recently" point. Yeah, I guess then you can say that they came out of nowhere. Same is true for any team that doesn't have a very recent champion on them. I think any long time follower of SC2 will know that mouz is a pretty big, European team; hence I don't agree with the came out of nowhere thingie. But w/e I don't have any stake in this and don't want to be too grumpy, so: who's this mouz?

Illusion was just kind of injected onto the scene, with some invite-only appearances helping establish his name. I think his age/being young helped his branding.
On July 18 2013 13:41 HeeroFX wrote: He likely wanted more money, or Mouz didn't want to pay him anymore. Does hurt the mouz a bit. I wonder if they will go after a player like Select, he was on Dignatas, so he isn't a stranger to European teams.
Probably definitely the latter. Was most likely just an option of no pay with potential lan type event funding. I don't see them outright terminating him but hopefully it wasn't a short sighted move on his part to just leave rather than accepting those terms.
Anyhow, best of luck finding a new home Chris.

He wasn't a true Mouz player, he was merely...an Illusion

Fighting illusion . I think, this time good for you.because muze not fit for you and then you can go to better team
