Notes - viOLet might have forfeited his spot in WCS AM entirely due to visa issues, theognis retired from professional StarCraft II after his loss in the Challenger League bracket stage, and Sound forfeited his spot in WCS AM as well, making Group C, Group D and Group E 3-person groups respectively.
I think he meant, are we sure Blizzard didn't MAKE him forfeit
that's not what I meant.
he could have forfeited his match in bracket then could try to stay in challenger (without taking a place in premier this wayà and not being out entirely of wcs entirely

Well I'm assuming "viOLet forfeits his spot in challenger league" means the entirety of challenger league and not just the bracket stage.
Man, it's been a while since I last saw Violet play. I hope Team Liquid can pick him up and resolve all of his Visa issues. He's teamless and they can use a good zerg player.
EDIT: My apologies (see below), this is the danger of not reading things properly. I will go find some English reading comprehension classes to attend...
Group G is an attempt to lump all the Terrans together so people don't realize the distribution is trending toward the GSL distributions. GSL used to do the same thing, pure Terran groups.

Don't you think that's kinda the point? Any tournament system wants each stage to be balanced, with the top players spread evenly so the top league is the best it can possibly be.

but it's not their fault if good players lost (or forfeited) in the RO40

How would you rank the players? WCS point?
it's 1 player from RO16, 1 from RO24 and 2 from RO40
Going to American Code B guesses: A: Capoch B: Suppy (XY lucky he doesnt have any TvT and his TvZ looked decent) C: Sound (assuming still forfeiting, if not then MajOr) D: theognis E: viOLet F: hellokitty G: Select H: TheStC

Damn select got screwed. Though major is probably the unluckiest player so far i wcs, every premier league he gets knocked out by only koreans. Now he has an up/down group with only koreans.

I think this makes sense. I don't see how you can do it any other way.
Really excited. I think Tilea has a good chance of making it out of her group. I think the only problem would be Crank, but he hasn't been playing the best of late. Her ZvZ is pretty on par at the moment so if she comes up against Goswser she should definitely be able to overcome him.
She has fallen to Capoch in the past..but I think that was more underestimating what he could actually do rather then any real skill differential. She'll be better prepared this time.
Group A: CranK, goswser Group B: Sage, Snute/Suppy Group C: Alicia, Sound Group D: HwangSin, mOOnGlaDe Group E: HyuN, Arthur Group F: ViBE, and anyone else Group G: Hack, Center/Apocalypse Group H: Ryung, HuK/TheStC
Please HyuN, don't screw your chances this time, this is as good as it gets in terms of groups.

Go SEA \o/ Go Tilea \o/
Goswser beat VortiX earlier this month, YuGiOh at DH Valencia and was very close to beat HyuN in Valencia too. Of course he can lose but he's the favorite.

I haven't been forfeited already have I? Hmmm...seems silly to not play even if I am retired. $1500 for getting back into premier.. might be worth a shot

Offcourse you should! You dont have to be a pro player on a pro team to just play some sc2
State seems a bit screwed by his group, but he can pull upsets out of nowhere.
So if he wins what, 1 series he is through, and he gets two chances? Well okay then, heres to hoping State knocks our arthur (or hyun, though hyun is pretty good...)

Yes. Challenger League is always after Premier League and America decided to do the group stage after the world finals instead of doing 2 groups a day like Europe.

It was so much more comprehensive back in the good old days of up and downs, code a and code s.. thanks.
I made a template in the sc2 lr resources thread if someone wants to make a thread for today. cant stay around to update one or someone could just make a group stage mega thread like they did for EU

These groups are disgusting...I can't even understand...

They mentioned on today's broadcast that they didn't know if you were playing or not, so they didn't forfeit you yet. If you actually intend on playing you should probably contact someone there.

It's really no different, just the "up and downs" are called group stage and are dual tournament with 2/4 qualifying and last place dropping out, and it's considered part of the previous season instead of the beginning of the next. Which makes more sense, because with up and downs they were always weeks before anything else in the next season and even used the previous season's map pool.
Soooooo who wants to volunteer to be WCS AM Challenger League LR OPs? Today's thread was... well, it was really late. Hopefully someone wants to do the threads for tomorrow's games.
