Its good news, I cannot say more, but INnoVation not at WCG is good news for Europe. (if he will not go that is, just saying that if he's not going, its good for Europe!) Now I will shut up.
|
I can't see any reason why he would forfeit his position and $5,000 guaranteed winnings with a really good chance at winning $100,000.
Maybe if it was some kind of issues getting into the country but otherwise this can't be anything else than rumors.
EDIT: I misread WCG as WCS

Isn't WCG the same day as Dreamhack Winter? I assumed he would forfeit for that tournament instead.

Yes WCG and DHW are on the same weekend. (TLO forfeited his WCG Germany semifinal for the same reason)

DHW has the highest potential winnings, also more people will be watching it and now that he's on Acer they care about eyeballs.

Honestly, I didn't think it was directly related to IEF, but a couple of people posted about IEF on NeoTV.

From money's perspective, WCG is easier actually.

While Innovation not being at WCG is good news for Europe, he most likely gets replaced by Soulkey (who finished 4th), so in the end it does´nt change to much.

hasn't WCG been a joke since years ago?
|
WCG is still the first international esports competition. And no scandal like eswc etc etc. Furthermore its based on nationality so theres only 3 koreans in it. Its still considered very prestigious coz the koreans who DO attend are the current top koreans instead of b-teamers or lucky few in say dreamhack or other events..
On a side note, no non-korean ever won, and Stork is the only person to have reached 3 grand finals in a row. Also when counting majors, wcg is considered the top3 along the MSL OSL. Ofc these days its OSL and GSL.

Glad he chose Dreamhack over WCG. WCG hasn't been the premier tournament in... well... ever for SC2.

Innovation knows that DH is the best tournament, thats why he goes there! Gotta be interesting to see if he has fixed his TvT "issues"

Translation:
Ace Innovation has decided to give up his spot representing Korea in the WCG.
Following Acers decision to attend Dreamhack, Innovation announced on the 11th that he won't be able to attend WCG. Because of this, the 4th ranked player Woongjin's Soulkey will be attending instead.
After coming second at Dreamhack Bucharest, he qualified to attend the grand finals at Dreamhack Winter. Although he was scheduled to attend WCG over Dreamhack Winter, following Acer's decision he will not be attending WCG.
Dreamhack Winter brings the top 16 players from the 4 Dreamhacks this year, as well as 4 qualifiers from online, and will be being held in Jönköping, Sweden. First prize is 200,000 kr (33000000 Won) and was won by Liquid'Hero last year.

I always loved WCG. But over the last years quality and value of WCG declined. Right now its a joke and i can understand why Innovation prefers IEM.

exactly.
For Broodwar WCG was probably the #1 tournament (at least before TSL). Now it's just a really pathetic attempt on staying up there, despite dozens of better tournaments.

Well, it is what it is. Glad we'll still be able to see Inno play at Dreamhack! Hope Soulkey brings his game to WCG--even though it's been won by a Korean every time, in SCII the other two Koreans who didn't win dropped out in the Ro8 or earlier, making it just a little bit scary for Korea.
